    Fried chicken sandwich & fries
    David C.

As a Milwaukee native (born & raised) now living in Cali, this place feels so much like Milwaukee food culture in the best ways. And their pie game is INSANE. Service was impressively on point. The host had the perfect mix of professional service and local chit chat. Here's what my mom and I split for lunch: Fried chicken sandwich w fries: Crispy chicken thigh and the harissa sauce gives some flavor. The pickled daikon cuts the richness. Fries surprised us as the MVP of this dish. Spinach artichoke dip: Super rich and flavorful. The goat cheese adds tang and depth. Crostinis were good, but - the fries as a vehicle. Trust me. House salad: We got this because we were guilty for ordering the Artichoke Dip and Fried Chicken. And it turned out to be much needed balance to this meal. Milwaukee Mud Pie: The reason people talk about Honeypie. Chocolate maxxing at its finest. Mega fluffy top and crunchy cookie base. Top 5 pie in my life. Unsolicited, I tell people about this pie. It's that good. NEXT TIME: Chicken pot pie looked sooo good. Will definitely try!

I love the vibe of this place. It's cute and cozy and makes you want to eat comfort food! My cousin and I recently came here for a quick dinner. We both had the Chicken and Biscuit pie. It was good although the biscuit was really huge. I love the crusty top, but maybe could use a little more of the stew part of it. She loved it and pretty much finished the whole thing. Service was fast and friendly. Great recommendations, so I want to come back when I have more time and more room for dessert! Oh yeah - don't forget to peruse the little shop area in the front of the restaurant. My cousin found some great Christmas gifts for her daughters and her friends - all locally made!

Went for lunch before my flight out of MKE. The reviews were spot on! I had the Friday Fish Fry and some of best breading I've eaten! The main reason for the review was the Coconut Key Lime Pie. Your diabetes will thank you. Get it.

Admittedly, I am not a huge pie person (I know, I know...) but when I come here, all of that goes out of the window. When I come to Honeypie, not only do I have a difficult time choosing just one but I love every single bite of whatever I choose! The selection is always epic, between fruit pies, chocolate pies and unique flavors of the week/ season. This visit I chose the lemon blueberry because it was the end of summer and wanted something fruity and I wasn't sure this summery flavor would be available if I were to visit in the fall or winter months. Of course, it was perfect. Crust was light and flaky with exploding blueberry and lemon flavor in each bite. Although I came here for pie after dinner, I somehow had room to finish every last crumb of my pie. I've also been here for brunch (bar service) where nothing was less than perfect and exactly what I would hope for in my brunch experience. The bar staff is also fun, friendly and speedy, no matter when you're here. Honeypie is one of my favorites and should actually visit more to taste more of the pie flavors I drool over when I do visit!

Tried Honeypie for breakfast with friends and had a great experience! We came on a Saturday around 10am and only had a 15-20 min wait. The food was amazing- my friends said it was "one of the best breakfast burritos ever". I love their coffee and also enjoyed my ham/egg croissant breakfast sandwich- lots of flavor! The wait staff was extremely kind to us and very attentive, which I appreciated! Overall a very cute vibe. Not pictured below, but we tried a slice of their specialty honey pie which was SO good! Very different than any pie I've had before so would definitely recommend trying it out. Definitely will be coming back :)

Love love love all things Honeypie Pies. Stopped here a few weeks ago to celebrate my birthday, our new tradition. Sat at the counter and the staff was friendly and engaging. The cream pies are always on point. My fav is the black bottom banana cream pies. Don't ask what it is. Just get here and try it. They also host pie making classes out of a different bay view kitchen so they will even teach you their craft. It is all a super enjoyable experience.

Beautiful restaurant experience at Honeypie Cafe. The front bar area is gorgeous with a true cafe vibe. Art and decor surrounding the dining area is also very cool to be around. My party and I stopped in for a quick lunch and had a great time. Friendly service and good food made our day! Had the chorizo melt special which was fantastic! Others in our group were pleased with the omelette and mac and cheese as well!

Excellent brunch! Would highly recommend to any one looking for a cozy spot. The place is so lively with all the unique decorations. It was nice to be seated immediately, I would recommend being early as it gets pretty busy. Have been here twice and I've only tried their brunch, but everything has been delicious! My favorite is the Chilaquiles and the Nutella pie

What a vibe!!! This place has such an adorable cafe/diner atmosphere. It is fun, welcoming, and cozy. The service was friendly and quick. They offer comfort foods - highly recommend the burger (SO juicy and flavorful) and the Pesto chicken salad sandwich (so so fresh and full of flavor) . The fries were crispy. The side salad was so fresh, and I loved the ranch! It wasn't super creamy and they didn't drown the salad in dressing. As far as pies, you have to get one! Our group got the strawberry rhubarb, salted caramel, mixed berry, cookies and creme, and chocolate and we loved them all! Highly recommend coming here.

Came here by myself and sat at the bar. Got their Lavender Cream iced coffee with oatmilk--so delicious! Then their breakfast casserole--quite good! Would have liked it with a bit more gravy cause the biscuit was so thick but overall pretty good. It was very modern inside and had a chill vibe to it. I had a really great waiter and spent barely any time waiting as they were quick to close me out ! Would definitely come back when I'm feeling some breakfast food

Made yet another trip to Honeypie, this time for lunch. It has yet to disappoint! The macaroni and cheese was gooey, creamy, and delicious. The additions of the bacon, toasted bread crumbs, and ribboned green onion really made the dish dynamic -- plenty of textural interest that you don't always get with your run-of-the-mill mac and cheese. At $18 it was a little pricey for an entreé, and though it was delicious, I might try something else in the future. The Bay View Breeze mocktail was to die for. The flavor combination of pineapple, ginger, lime, and mint worked exquisitely. Once again, a little pricey at $7 for just a mocktail, but I might just catch myself ordering it again. For dessert we went with the salted honey pie, per the recommendation of our server, and it was hands down the best pie I have ever had. The custardy filling was held together by a perfectly buttery and flaky crust. The brûléed top added depth to contrast the sweetness and the whipped cream was just the right touch to round it all out. Our server Rin (Ryn?) was spectacular. They were always attentive and friendly and knew the menu well enough to offer some top notch suggestions. Honeypie Cafe is not cheap, but you really are paying for quality. Both the interior and the patio seating make for an ambient experience and I've never had a bad server. Be prepared to spend upwards of $50 (before tax and tip) for two people. And whatever you do, don't skip out on dessert. The pie truly is amazing and worth the $9/slice price tag.

Wow I have not been here since they moved to a new space and apparently that is already 5 years ago now! The new space is open and spacious and has a great vibe. The bar is open and bright. Honestly would've sat there if I didn't go with my family. I ordered my usual - pork fries and pie. The pork fries hit the spot as usual although they now serve it in a bowl where it used to be on a plate. The is impacts the longevity of the fries crispyness. Still just as dense and heavy and plenty for a meal on its own. I also has the breakfast casserole with my nephew and wow that was flavorful and heavy too. Be prepared to take food home here! The gravy in the casserole was delicious and the biscuit was not dry. Wish the ratio was a bit less biscuit though. Pies are always good no specific notes except get yourself a slice.

There is typically a wait (20+ minutes) over the weekend for brunch, and to combat this, they have coffee at the front you can enjoy before you are seated. They also sell merch and other items (e.g. cookbooks, kitchen utensils, honey, etc.) at the front. The interior is cozy and best suited for groups of 2 or 4. We ordered their biscuit to share, and I ordered the breakfast casserole and my partner ordered the chicken and French toast. Overall, the service was friendly and the food was delicious!

Our server was fun to chat with and definitely made the experience a bit more interesting. I stopped in for brunch on a Wednesday around 11am and snagged the last open table. Perfectly cooked medium rare steak with chimichurri, crispy-runny eggs, and excellent potatoes holding it all together. When we arrived (about two hours after opening), we were quoted a 1.5-hour wait. Not totally surprising given how popular the spot is, but definitely something to plan around. We've skipped it in the past because we were too hungry to wait, and honestly, that might still be a factor for future visits. The space itself is cozy and on the smaller side, with the bar area taking up a good portion of the restaurant. It has a lively atmosphere, but because it was completely packed and music was playing, it got pretty loud, loud enough that it was hard to hear each other at times, and even a bit difficult to catch everything our server was saying. That said, the waitstaff were friendly and doing their best in a busy environment. As for the food and drinks, definitely the highlight. We ordered an ube latte and a chai, both of which were enjoyable. The standout dish was the breakfast burger with bacon jam. It was fantastic, rich, messy, and indulgent in the best way. The bacon jam added just the right amount of sweetness to balance out the savory, greasy goodness, and I was completely on board with it. We also ordered a few of their breakfast plates, which came with massive smashed potatoes. Overall, Uncle Wolfie's delivered on flavor and vibe, but the long wait and noise level might make us think twice about when we go back. I'd definitely return, but ideally during a less busy time. Otherwise, if I'm starving and don't want to wait, I might end up trying somewhere else.

We got the mimosa and Bloody Mary flights. They even flavor their own vodkas in house for the bloody's! Online it said both kinds of flights were included their special if the day, which was BOGO half off, but the staff told us the bloody flights were not included. We ordered a skillet, burrito, and harvest hash. Everything was great and came out quickly! What the restaurant is lacking is in overall aesthetic and cleanliness. It seems unfinished inside, has chipped paint, the canvas on the seats is ripping, and the floors were quite dirty where we were seated. We visited when there was only an hour left of them being open, and the staff made it seem like they were wanting to close up. If some of these items are addressed, this place has potential to be really great!

Brunch It Up (possibly in the middle of rebranding to just "Brunch.") is a classic breakfast spot in downtown Milwaukee...we were there on a Sunday morning...high brunch time, and were seated quickly upstairs. The place had an overall run-down vibe to it...scuffed paint on the walls and a general feeling of not quite matching the quality of the upscale brunch spot implied by their modern logo. Menus...I normally don't comment on the menu itself but our table featured no less than 4 different menus...the regular menu, a drink menu, a specials menu and a mimosas menu...choices are wonderful, but the immediate reaction is this is a whole mess of menus on the table, and I don't know what to look at first. It felt haphazard. Let's move on to the coffee...Coffee is an essential part of the brunch experience. Even at a diner, you want it to be strong...the mug it came in was nice, but it was weak coffee. I need coffee to kick my butt, and if you're serving what's close to "browned water" at a breakfast place, you're missing the mark. How about the food? I can't fault them for the generosity of the portions, but will say individual dishes were way too much for my wife and I...we wish smaller portions were available, so so much didn't go to waste. My wife had the Egg and Waffle sandwich with waffle fries. It was fine. I had the Harvest Hash made with egg whites...the eggs were a little overcooked. (Egg whites require a thoughtful touch when cooking them so they are finished white and not browning all over.) There are plenty of fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, and peppers in there (I guess that's the extent of the harvest in Milwaukee) The hashbrowns it all sat on were undercooked. We were excited about the croissant beignets...Available were the regular ones with chocolate or strawberry dipping sauce, and a special with a fruit dipping sauce. They couldn't mix and match sauces, so we got the special. They were okay but a bit over-fried, losing the croissant texture altogether ...I mean, there's nothing wrong with deep-fried dough with sweet things to dip them in, but we do wish they hadn't fried the croissant out of them to give us the unique experience implied by the name. The menu has plenty to choose from...every breakfast savory or sweet thing you could imagine...and on the nicely designed, modern-looking menu at looks like it could be amazing...but everything we got, plus the experience of sitting in a place that felt a little rundown, left us overall disappointed.

Their website has a popup on the home page saying it comes with fried haddock, potato pancakes, applesauce, and rye bread, but the popup doesn't list the price and it isn't available through the online ordering function. I ended up calling in an order to go, substituting wheat bread for the rye, and also added a piece of lemon ginger coffee cake. The lemon ginger coffee cake tasted fine, but man was it dry. Like Sahara Desert dry. Maybe this was an anomaly and their other baked goods are better, but I'd be hesitant to try them based on this coffee cake. Even though the website says the side is potato pancakes with applesauce, my fish fry came with fries. They ended up being the best part of the meal, which I certainly wasn't expecting. Still, I was disappointed cause I prefer potato pancakes and was given their inclusion as an expectation. The wheat bread itself was ok, but the butter was oddly unsalted. The fish, of which there was three pieces, was battered with a hint of beer, but like the butter for the bread there was no salt to speak of in the batter. As much as I didn't enjoy the unsalted butter for the bread, not having salt in the batter for the fish managed to be more unpleasant. Maybe Blue's Egg should just stick with serving breakfast items instead of adding something temporary that they clearly aren't pros at.

The experience started off poorly when our party was essentially scolded by the hostess for sitting at a table that apparently needed to be cleaned for the wait list. To make matters worse, the busser laughed and joked that we were "in trouble," to which I could only respond, "Sounds like it." Not exactly the welcoming atmosphere you'd hope for as a first time visitor. The fish fry was decent our tab came out to $150 for 5 people, but the service was absolutely subpar and our tip reflected that.
