Now to the food....The Hopplepopple was incredible! Great serving size (for me.....). It was so flavorful and protein filled. I added a side of sausage gravy as the restaurant is known for their gravy. Every bite seemed to get better and better as I worked my way through it. Absolutely phenomenal! My sister had the Denver omelette and the ham inside was amazing. My brother-in-law had the breakfast casserole - So filling but absolutely delicious. We had the Salted Honey Pie and the Chocolate Hazelnut pie. They looked so good that I forgot to take a picture. They were both gone in a matter of minutes. I've been to honey pie about 3 times now. Every time it is fantastic! When you walk in your greeted by the host stand. Typically they seat you before the original time they gave. There's places to sit inside and the doorway never gets to crowded. The decor inside is eclectic farmhouse grandma. Try also have the pie case at the front so you can prepare for you choice later. Once seated they provide water for the table right away. This time I got the porkslaw sandwich. The aioli they use to sooooo good. Just be prepared for it to be messy. Honeypie is busy on weekend mornings. I went for brunch and there was a wait for a table at 10:30 or so in the morning. The fans of this place are devoted. But they don't take reservations and the line moves fast. There's patio seating available also. They have delicious brunch. I've had the ham biscuit and the breakfast burrito at brunch. I would recommend getting something that comes with a biscuit. Judging from my neighbors' plates the breakfast casserole and the pork fries are also popular. Even if you go not sure if you want pie, between the temptation of the pie case and all the slices you see going out around you, you're probably going to get pie. And you should. It's pricey, but their pies are really good. The slices are large enough to split between two people. You can taste that they use quality ingredients and they feature some creative flavor combinations as well as some classics like key lime and cherry. Service was a little swamped at times, but friendly and helpful. But when I stepped away to look at the pie case, a different server from mine cleared my table including my water and juice glass and silverware. I chalk it to it being a busy morning. Upon arrival I was so surprised at how cute it is inside. There is a diner vibe. There is indoor and outdoor seating on the patio! The parking is street parking. We had dinner plans elsewhere but we decided to get a slice of pie to try! The pie case was mesmerizing with so many pies that I wanted to try. Date of visit: 2/18/23 My husband raves about Honeypie whenever given the chance; I had only been once, at the old location, and didn't get what all the fuss was about. He insisted that brunch is really the time to come here and he was not wrong. Good job me for marrying him! The wait wasn't too bad for a sunny Saturday morning and their time estimate was spot on. Our server was friendly with a calm demeanor that really fits both the neighborhood and the establishment to a T. The coffee here is strong and the cream situation (first a thimble-sized container, then something a tad more substantial) is not ideal for lightweights such as myself. The sugar situation is also a bit meh. No stevia or Splenda, just that sugar in the raw nonsense. Good thing the food is good! I had the ham croissant and it was magnifique! The croissant was close to those I've had in Europe, with a satisfying outer crunchiness and filled with delicious eggs and ham, really a wonderful breakfast. Because it's known for the pie, I HAD to get a piece and opted for the salted honey. I'm not a huge pie person but this place delivered--it was quite tasty though the crust reminded me of why I am not a pie fan, it's just so blah. Visiting Milwaukee for the first time in many years and my friend's son who lives in the neighborhood of the Honeypie Cafe highly recommended this wonderful place. My Pot Roast Hash was so glorious that I had to write a review about it. Our server was so cool to explain what I can expect from this dish and it didn't disappoint!!! Order it!!! The food was amazing! The French dip if it tasted this good can't imagine how wonderful the French onion soup will taste! Will try the French onion soup next time. Roast beef in the French dip was well seasoned and delicious! The honey pie burger I got without the egg with tomatoes and was so mouth watering it didn't last long on my plate! Homemade French fries were awesome but what stole the show was the homemade pickles that I could have eaten a big plate of them they were so tasteful!! Not to strong not to weak they were perfect and balanced! The waitress earned every ounce of the tip we gave her! Her attention to detail and the fact that we thought she read our minds to get us drinks without asking at the perfect time was one of the best experiences I have had! She made me feel special along with my GF! The atmosphere was on the down low and totally mellow and still added a bright notes to the meal! Seating was quite well with even sitting at the counter! The only longer issue we had was $9 dollars for a slice of pie that needs some help! Still tasted ok but to bring it up to the meal standards needs some fine tuning! I have been meaning to check out Honeypie for the longest time! I am so happy I finally did. My friend and I went on a Saturday during prime brunch time, the wait was only 30 minutes (we expected longer!) although there were seats available at the bar, so we were seated immediately. We were greeted by the staff and they were attentive throughout our whole visit. We did not get any drinks although, they looked SO good! We did end up getting the breakfast casserole and short rib hash. DELICIOUS. The breakfast casserole was warm and cheesy, the short rib hash has an excellent horseradish sauce- I wish I had more! We were so full and had leftovers to take home, but we could not pass on the pies! We Took home the cookies and cream as well as the lemon blueberry pie- yum. They serve creative comfort food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We came for brunch, and it was excellent! Would highly recommend to anyone. The Churro French Toast was decadent but not overly sweet. The cinnamon-sugar, whipped cream, and apples in caramel sauce was truly a match made in brunch heaven. The Wild Mushroom Melt will make anyone who loves mushrooms rejoice! The service was top notch as well. Sunday Brunch at Honeypie is a hit. It has some great energy for a small group that would cater to multiple palates. It's got a little bit of everything, plus several selections of pie to choose from after your main meal. I tried a slice of the Mixed Berry and left very satisfied. I am frustrated when I read so many reviews of restaurants that are the most popular these days and then go and have a mediocre meal. I feel our breakfast for $45 was just average. The buttermilk biscuit was the most unusual one I have ever had. Yes, lots of layers but each one crunchy hard. The cup of fruit was tasty but my partner's pot roast hash was just ok. The presentation of the food was odd since I could not get to bottom of bowl of fruit to get other selections until I poured it all out on the saucer underneath. There is outdoor seating in the summer. I ordered the chicken and French toast and it was sooo delish. As a take home, I ordered the salted honey pie. You have to like honey for this one and it was so rich I had to eat it half at a time but it very tasty. The whipped cream on top felt over whipped and left a film on my tongue so I scraped it off and added my own fresh whipped cream at home - the pie needs it or it's too heavy. Love the vibes and food at Honeypie! I had their yummy pies before, but never tried their cafe menu. So I went check the cafe out at about 11:00 on a Saturday morning. The wait wasn't bad at all - 20 mins. Their breakfast casserole looks so good & tastes as good as it looks. Everything in the casserole is perfectly baked to soft and flavorful and has a nice kick of spiciness. It's a very filling dish. Highly recommend it. The restaurant is being renovated so everyone sits in the patio. The vibes in the patio are casual, cozy and comfortable although the interior of the restaurant looks very modern. We had such a great experience at Honeypie Cafe! We came in a party of five, and two people had been before, but the rest of us thought it was only a pie place. Since we had a larger party there was about a 30 minute wait, but we were able to walk around to shops nearby until we got a text to come back. The menu was pretty extensive, and there was definitely something for everyone there. We got started with the fries with pulled pork, which were super tasty. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which I would 100% recommend. The portions are definitely a decent amount of food, but we were making sure to leave room for pie. The pie/cheesecake changes every day. We had chocolate cheesecake and the pie had honey and was so good! I will definitely need to be back because there are so many things on the menu I still want to try! read more

I had previously written a review on honey pie cafe when they were at their old location down on Kinnickinnic. I believe I went there for dinner too, but feel like the food was better this time around. I'd say a 4.5 from the 3-3.5 I gave them last time. I enjoyed the vibe of their old place more in comparison to the new. It was cozier and had a warmth to it. Now as they've expanded, they've tried to accommodate to an upscale feel. That being said, I ordered the mussels and the Brussels sprouts. I love a good broth In white wine (vs a tomato broth). I could taste the garlic, right up my alley. The roasted Brussels sprouts were certainly enough to share. CRISPY and flavorful with the blue cheese. We shared the blueberry creme pie, light. I did enjoy the bites of fresh blueberries. The top of the crust was the best as it wasn't as hard to break a tooth through it. I'd say the bottom crust wasn't really worth it as you had to work through it. We initially thought the top was a cream cheese frosting but think that the pie was sliced using the same pie knife on a different pie. Light and airy. I could've gone with the cream cheese frosting for an added depth but the whipped cream sufficed as well. I loved the truffle fries and their aioli! Maybe just a bit more Parmesan mixed throughout! My wife bought me my favorite piece of pie, Banana Cream. She heard good things about their pies. She brought it home and surprised me with it. 1st thing is $19.59 for 2 pieces of pie. REALLY!!! 2nd thing was that it was the Most bland Banana cream pies I have EVER tasted. The whip cream had zero powered sugar in it. The pudding had no vanilla flavor to it. It also had very little Banana slices in it. Plus I think that they added Banana chips (dehydrated). Final take is WAY Over Priced and the worst piece of pie I have ever had. I didn't think you could mess up Banana Cream pie, Honeypie has achieved that. read more
