Honey Walnut Shrimp- isn't any ordinary honey walnut shrimp dish, they use large prawns! Prawns are always fresh and crisp, they're all slightly bigger than a golf ball size. Nicely fried and isn't too greasy. Prawns aren't drenched in mayonnaise sauce and it isn't too sweet. Black Pepper Beef- extremely tender and flavorful. Kung Pao Chicken- chicken wasn't dry and quite juicy. Peanuts had a little crisp to them which I prefer. I don't like when the peanuts are soggy. Braised Pork- flavorful but a little tough. I went to Lunch with my Best Friend at Hong Bao Kitchen today , everything was over the top. We ordered Chowmein , Green Beens , Shrimp Eggrolls, Gao Bao, and Honey Walnut Shrimp. The Shrimp were Huge ! Yuri was our Server and she was Amazing , very friendly , welcoming and attentive. Another fantastic experience at Hong Bao Kitchen located on the first floor at Yaamava Casino in San Bernardino. This place is a must try. Be prepared because the pricing is $$$ but well worth it. I decided to give 2 stars only READ below why You need to make reservations they do not accept walk ins, portions are large which means they are shareable entrees. I was very excited to try this place I kept seeing the photos of the food, yelp pictures make it appealing but once we ordered the food, it did not taste good. We ordered Beef pepper, it had a weird after taste, chow mein tasted very different compared to other restaurants and it was a taste that is hard to describe, maybe they use different ingredients I'm not too sure what it could be. We did enjoy the green beans they were stir fried. They were seasoned very well. The beef is probably a 6 out of 10 (not worth $40) The chow mein I gave it a 5 out of 10 (not worth $25) The green beans at 10 out of 10 Now, if you you have a rewards card from the casino, you do get a 10% off, which is very nice, so make sure you show your card! We provided our rewards card along with our credit card and the gentleman that assisted us only brought back our rewards card , we asked him numerous time where is our credit card? and he kept saying "you have it I gave it to you" We kept telling him he never brought it back to us, luckily they have cameras so we asked him to check the camera. We also gave him the opportunity to check his working area, he came back and again said " you have it I gave it to you" We asked to speak to the manager. Manager said she would have somebody look at the cameras, about a minute after she walked away, he comes back with our card in his hand! and said "it was on the floor" The manager never came back to apologize neither did he. We got lucky at Hong Bao securing a last-minute dinner reservation this past Saturday to celebrate my grandfather-in-law Papa's 88th birthday. What started as a hopeful day-of call turned into one of the most memorable dining experiences our family has ever had! Annie and Hong went above and beyond, graciously offering our party of 12 their VIP private dining room during peak dinner rush... a space we later learned is typically reserved exclusively for the restaurant owners when they're in town! We already had a feeling we were treated to something special when we were escorted to the room, which had a private entrance past the high roller slots. The room itself is absolutely stunning: circular with soaring ceilings reminiscent of a castle tower, featuring lavish yet sophisticatedly understated décor (i.e., expensive marble + gold accent) that was on brand with Yaamava's recent renovation. Our server David and his entire team were phenomenal. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and every staff member we encountered was genuinely warm and accommodating. The food was outstanding across the board. Besides the Peking Duck ($130 whole / $90 half) which was carved expertly tableside, other standout dishes included black pepper beef ($40), salt & pepper soft-shell crab ($38) (the first time many of us had seen this on a menu!), kung pao chicken ($24), hot & sour soup elevated with scallops ($16 family style), and stir-fried green beans ($14). We filled two lazy Susans and left overly stuffed... What stunned us was the value: at any other restaurant to book out a private dining space of this caliber, we would easily have to fulfill a $2k+ minimum, so with our total bill including tip and tax not even hitting 4-digits for our group of 12 felt almost too good to be true given the quality, setting and service! The birthday celebration details were handled seamlessly. When I mentioned we'd be celebrating Papa's birthday, Hong explained the policy about outside desserts (not allowed to bring into Yaamava) but suggested we could order from Big Mo Café upstairs and bring it down with proof of purchase. David and Annie somehow found candles for our mini cake and even surprised us with a complimentary dessert featuring mochi, popping boba, and egg pudding that tasted absolutely delightful. Every person in our party was blown away by the hospitality, attention to detail, and genuine care the Hong Bao team showed us. It's rare to find a restaurant that combines exceptional food, elegant atmosphere, and heartwarming service so flawlessly.
