My husband and I used to come here often and wanted Chinese food well,,,,, I ordered garlic chicken and I got frozen breaded chicken with a sweet and sour sauce poured on top.! The egg drop soup was edible but hardly any taste. The tinfoil chicken had more foil than chicken and it was super greasy. The chicken fried rice was slimy. The only good thing was the service... I hate giving a bad review, but I care enough to share this with them. They definitely need to improve the taste and quality of their foods. The potstickers have a really thick skin, the filling is ok but what I got was still kinda cold, which makes it gross. Wonton soup was lack of flavor and the meat inside the wontons was stink!, I just ate the veggies. Kungpao chicken was ok, no spice, not much flavor, lots of veggies. The steamed rice was hard, tasted raw. Might need a long long break from them to forget how bad their food made me feel. read more

One word to describe this place "deceptive". This place was GOOD! Outside, this place looked run down. Hubby and I have passed by this place for years and I REFUSED to eat here because it looked like one of those unsanitary places. Boy was I wrong. From what hubby told me they're been around for many years. As soon as we entered the door, it is very quaint. The menu is limited with the selection but enough for a variety. We normally order the kung pow chicken and mongolian beef as a test. No Chinese restaurant can screw that up unless they're a lousy restaurant in the first place and this place passed (with the exception of no chili pepper in the kung pow chicken). They also provide a bonus when you purchase a certain amount. Our order was over $20 so we got crab puffs for free. They were cream cheese mixed with crab meat, wrapped in wonton skin, deep fried and served with sweet and sour sauce. It was DELISH. Their potsticker had thick skin but the filling was also full of meat and seasoned just right. And finally, I love how they serve individual steam rice in bowls. normally I have to do that myself at other Chinese restaurants. looking forward to their other items from the menu. Overall 4 thumbs up (hubby's and mine). Will we come back? Heck yeah! Recommend: Try just eating the steam rice with just the sauce from the mongolian beef with the onions. Yummo!!! read more

I am furious with HONG KONG HOUSE RESTAURANT & GRUBHUB!!! On Sunday, 1/12/20, I placed my online order #564910390182001 with confirmation at 8:23PM, prepaid $95.08 for dinner. According to the Online Ordering Status Time, I was within the deadline to place the order which was to order BEFORE 8:45PM. At 8:51PM, I received a text message from GRUBHUB telling me the order had been canceled as the HONG KONG HOUSE RESTAURANT was closed for online orders. This was 28 minutes after I received the confirmation. To make it even worse, I live 1.5 miles from the HONG KONG HOUSE RESTAURANT so this local knows how busy they are or not......there is absolutely no reason why they think they don't need my business!!!! read more

Horrible food. My husband and I decided to have Chinese Thursday night. We have ate here several times before, but this night there must of been a substitute cook. The food had no vegetables or taste. I ordered house chow mien, (no flavor, no veggies except green onions), house chop suey that had no flavor The shrimp tasted like it had been frozen a year before it was used, real mushy. I had about 3 other pieces of chicken in it. I wrote this place off my go to dinner place. Panda Express would of been better than there. read more

I grew up in Ceres and we always had Hong Kong because they are right behind the wall where we live. I just came today with my husband and see that their restaurant is u see new management. It is now Mexicans running a Chinese restaurant. First red flag. Second red flag is we asked a question about t the menu and the waitress took a good 5 minutes in the back getting it answered. So our food comes out and the noodles have ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR until I FLOODED THEM with soy sauce. We also got cream cheese crab Rangoons which were a huge triangle fried wonton with a little speck of stuff inside the corner. Nothing seems to be fresh it all seems to be frozen and fried. So disappointed that a CLASSIC ceres restaurant has been RUINED! Never again will we return. read more

I remember when HKH was my favorite Chinese food in Ceres. There have been many changes in ownership over the years. Currently, all the food served was dry, even my 5 year old complained. I haven't had Hong Kong House in quite some time. I've been feeling under the weather and was craving some Hot & Sour soup. It was news to me that the restaurant has been under new management as of February 1st. I was looking forward to the dark, spicy soup that I had come to love from this restaurant only. However, what was served was more of a red based soup that lacked spice and honestly, just tastes like someone poured sweet and sour into a pot and made soup out if it. Maybe in the future I'll try different food(s) from the restaurant.. But I miss the old soup. That's for sure! read more

We were regulars for Hong Kong. Its Under new ownership and I was very disappointed. We spent 71 dollars and my family is still hungry because no body ate it. Chowmein was soggy, walnut shrimp and sweet and sour pork both were soggy and tasted like burnt oil. We will not be returning. read more

The Hong Kong House you once knew is dead and buried. I have been going to Hong Kong House since I was a kid almost 30 years ago and it's never been this bad. Recently it seems that new management has taken over again, but this time it's definitely the worst it's ever been. The service is dead-slow, even when there's no orders before yours, and the food is dry, tastes like old oil, and is bland. I hate to say it, but the restaurant no longer is anything close to Chinese food. The Wor Wonton Soup was mostly just bean sprouts, cabbage, some chicken and some pre-made wontons: glorified chicken soup. The main dishes, fried rice, chow mein, sweet and sour pork, broccoli beef all tasted off. The cream cheese wontons were dry, starchy and overly salty, where they used to be warm, chewy and sweet (like crab). I don't think it's worth my time to go back anymore, I'll just remember the good times when it was Chinese food made authentically. read more

If I could give a zero I would. It's been a long time since we've been to this establishment, and I am regretting giving it another try. Their food used to be really delicious. We ordered pork fried rice, " we got mushy rice with ONLY tint bits of carrots in it with no flavor. We also ordered wonton soup wow so disgusting again no flavor the vegetables in it we're still Rock Hard Solid. My son also ordered curry chicken that was as Bland as it could be a didn't even hardly taste like Curry and the vegetable chunks were so large we had to cut them are self also again very Bland no flavor. Lastly we ordered their dumplings which we used to absolutely love, and they were disgusting greasy on the inside and rock-solid hard on the outside. We are going to break a tooth needless to say we spent $35 and basically threw everything in the trash after tasting it will never order there again! read more

This place is a disaster we go in to eat sit down and the service was just fine, entrees were not too shabby and then we get our meal. Everything is going fine a few bites in and then my Cuz says he isn't feeling so hot.... not even 3 minutes later he rushes the bathroom (to a dirty one mind you) and I hear him throwing his guts up. No bueno ladies and gentleman. Ive never heard him throw up and he doesn't have a weak stomache or anything like that so take heed. Been here twice since the new owners, and on a scale of 1 to 5, it used to be a 6, it's now a 2 at best! I won't be back. I can no longer recommend this place? AND, their new chef doesn't know the meaning of hot. They're Hot and Spicy soup is not hot at all, and is more sweet than sour. The Mongolian Beef, not hot, too many vegetables, no rice noodles, and a sauce that didn't belong... Used to be one of my favorites. Got enough to take home...and throw away. I'm really disappointed with the take out we just bought. Sweet and Sour was very dry. No sauce, seriously? Chow mein was also dry. Hardly any seafood in the sea food dishes. Rice was very dry. I have a feeling this was left overs from last night and the microwave was used to warm up our food. I warned them to impress us because we are new to the area and failed upon receipt. Lots of food, but chicken entrées are filled with onions and vegetables rather than chicken. Chicken fried rice is yummy. Mongolian chicken it's filled with onions, but has an very delicious sauce.
