I ordered my phone and the person helping me was very courteous. I ordered the General Tso's chicken combination plate. The food was fresh, but I wasn't completely satisfied with the flavor. An egg roll comes with the combination plate, but they put the sweet and sour sauce in the small paper bag that the egg roll comes in and it opened and spilled in transit, completely soaking the egg roll. I was on the hunt for the best orange chicken in the immediate area. So far, the orange and lemon chicken here is my favorite around here. The Mongolian beef was a pleasant surprise. It was nice sizes of meat and juicy and tender. Best Mongolian beef I had to date. Visted this place for lunch today while looking for something to eat here in Riverbank. Not a lot of choices just yet in the area mostly chain restaurants. So I decided to try this Chinese food place. My takeaway was this just a very average Chinese restaurant. The Mongolian beef plate was ok. The beef had more of a garlic and onion taste and less of what I'm used to which is more of sweet tangy spicy taste. The chow mein lacked flavor and was a bit cold and that's because we ordered and the food came out super fast. The rice lacked flavor as well. Probably the best part of the meal was the hot and sour soup. It was just above average. Don't think I would eat here again. Nothing tasted close to what I'm used to. The service was good. The food here has gone downhill fast. Like building on fire fast. I dropped in with a buddy on a Monday evening due to our go to being closed. We each had the combination dinner plate. It comes with choice of entree, chow mein, fried rice, and an egg roll. I had garlic chicken. He had teriyaki chicken. Both had great presentation but tasted so terribly bland that I had to ask the waitress if they had a new cook. Sadly it wasn't that simple. My egg flower soup sucked, my garlic chicken sucked, the chow mein was so overcooked it was almost soggy, and the supposedly pork fried rice looked like white rice with corn stirred into it then topped with chopped pork. They also topped the chow mein the same way. The potstickers were so awful that we ate 2 of 6 and left the rest. I did enjoy the egg roll tho! Although the service was nice, and the ambiance was vibing oriental, the food was so terrible that we chose not to even take our leftovers. I will not be back. read more

Lunch date for wife and me today. I had a combo plate with sweet & sour chicken, chow mien and fried rice. The chow mien was tasty but almost all noodles and very little veggies with no meat. Fried rice was blah. However the sweet & sour chicken was fantastic -- very tasty, hot and fresh. My wife had a stir-fry veggie dish with chow mien and she loved the vegs but was also disappointed by the chow mien. I'm basing this review solely on 1 visit for takeout. I ordered a special house chow fun and cream cheese Rangoon for takeout on this rainy day. The chow fun was absolutely amazing!!!! Great fat yummmy noodles, tons of meat- super fresh and flavorful. The Rangoon was highly disappointing. They really skimp on the cream cheese. Won't get that again. But the chow fun will get me back there for sure!! Beautiful space. Quiet. Friendly employees who assured me my food was almost ready a couple times. The Vegetable Deluxe Combination had fresh vegetables with good crisp, balanced garlic sauce and a different varieties of vegetables so as not to be too bland. The Chow Mein was without the usual pork, as the dish seems to cater to the name. The rice was soft and tasty, not salty or hard and without pork, again, because of it being a vegetable only dish so that was a plus. As for the Chicken Won Ton Soup, the broth was a good balanced taste not cheap and watery. The Won Tons are full little balls with a good taste that reminded me of some Bay Area places. Good portion of veggies like bamboo and mushrooms with the soup and tender chicken also. Delicious and authentic tasting food (tip~ try asking for the skinny noodles when you order chow mien, delicious, slightly higher charge but worth it) only reason for the 4 stars, seems that Togo items have been lacking in filling the boxes. Also noted that they used to use a traditional box/carton but now all items Are in a white foam hinges containers and not as filled as the traditional boxes. Other than, staff is super friendly, food is delicious and even when we order 5-7 items, all ready in 15 minute or less. For the past 3 years , we've been stopping by Grand China every September. Even though Riverbank is slightly off the highway , we know where to get Guangzhou style meals. What we order is not on the menu and meals are specially prepared for us. The owners being from the Guangzhou province of China , know the prepartion of regional dishes. Today's lunch , consisted of Braised Pork Trotters , Steamed Garlic Shrimp , Roast Duck ( my favorite ) and Gai Lan . EVERY dish was prepared perfectly . This was probably the best meal we've had in a year ( not counting the meals we had in Hawaii ) All the dishes were tasty and just very fortunate to be able to have such a quality lunch. I love this place. Their service is great overall, but sometimes they get too busy and overwhelmed. They still do their best and are always smiling and friendly. They do their best and clearly care about the customers. The food is great. It is affordably priced, but admittedly a bit on the greasy side. The war wonton soup is a must.
