It's definitely an Asian restaurant and it reminds me of home, though being an Asian myself, it's a little odd to see its patrons and staff as mostly non-Asian. The market has a lot of diverse wares, both Asian-centric and more generic foodstuffs. While the meat and vegetable sections were decidedly cheaper, and much better bargains for your money, pretty much everything else is either market value or pricier than other Asian markets. I would caution, as other posters have mentioned, to check the expiration dates of anything you want to purchase, as I noticed lots of stock on the shelves was already expired. That might also mean even items marked with a later expiration date may not be as fresh as advertised. As with most authentic Asian markets (maybe ones not named H-Mart), it isn't the cleanest, nor does it smell that good, but you're not there to sleep or live, haha. The setting doesn't necessarily reflect on the quality of food, especially if it's packaged or sealed. I'd personally pass and try to find another Asian market, but if this location is the easiest or closest for you, especially given the paucity of Asian markets in Texas, it's not a terrible choice. read more

You can find a lot of Caribbean food hear. I found Jamaican yam, oxtail(expensive but all the fat was trimmed), and other fruit/veggies. They also have a fresh fish market in the back. Highly recommend read more

make sure you check the expirations on your products and check for mold. I just didnt get the "fresh" vibe for this place. everything was a bit dirty or smelly imo. The checkout lane was covered in fish juice from the previous customer and the lady just wiped it with paper towels and used the same gloves. This was the first Asian market I went to after moving to the Dallas area. At the time my wife and I were vegan and we discovered it while visiting D'Vegan restaurant located in the small indoor mall attached to the market. For me this is my go to place for any hard to find or exotic ingredients not available at a typical grocery. Compared to other Asian markets in the city, this one tends to be on the more messy side. Not necessarily dirty, just a bit cluttered. It's not enough to deter me from shopping here however. This place is huge...well in comparison to the Asian markets back east. This one did have a very pungent seafood smell, which would be an indication of not so fresh seafood. I didn't look around too much as I was only there for some aloe and tea, but the selection of foreign fruits and veggies was great, and the wide variety of teas was mind blowing. Who knew there was a white milk tea, ballerina tea, and even a clear thought tea...I was in a tea lover's paradise lol. The customer service was great even through the language barrier. I guess I never reviewed this grocery store and now, for me personally, I have no desire to return. It has changed dramatically from what it was even a couple of years ago. We love the fresh produce and all the specialty products in Asian stores. We have driven 45 miles just to go as far as H Mart or for a more regular trip somewhere closer in Dallas or Arlington/Grand Prairie; but today we were at the end of our road trip and on our way home and we stopped here. Hong Kong Market has been here a long time; but it's looking terribly rough around the edges and there's nothing bright or inviting about this store at all now. Next door to Bistro B and in a busy strip center, it probably sees some drop in traffic that likely drops back out. If it's in your immediate neighborhood, I can see how you would want to make it work; but I won't make an effort to come here anymore. read more

Totally disgusted at their business practice with their product placement and advertisement. We visit them often as they are close by our home for regular produce and home products. Today we went by and saw that they have live crabs for sale $2.99 on sign directly above the live crabs (see pic I took). It took us 10 min to pick out some live crabs as there are more than half are dead crabs. After we went to counter for payment, they ring those blue live crabs as $3.99 instead of 2.99 advertised. We show them the sign right on top, they refuse to honor their own price change, even after waiting for a few minute to speak with their general manager, they still refuse to honor the posted pricing, insist that it is price for crawfish which is on the isle beside it, however, even if that price is for crawfish they don't show any sign any where that blue crab is 3.99 (see pic). I took a few minute in asking that they honor their price change but they refused. The only reason I was tolerating this was because I took time to pick out some undead crabs. But Thanks for letting me know that you guys are more than willing to screw over your own customer for a few dollar differences, you have lost my family business. Btw fish department is very disgusting, do you guys ever bother clean up or mop the floor, even the shelves on the grocery side are sticky to touch, it is an old business, but you should at least clean it up. I love how this place is close to me. It prbl has some of the most Asian seasonings, spices & everything that I use when cooking a Asian dish. The best feature is that the store is clean and does not smell, as some Asian stores have a strong odor. Of the three Asian markets I visited, this is the smallest. But it does carry an array of items from Asia and has a nice fresh fish selection. I see more ethnic people here than the other 2 (Asia World Market and Saigon Mall Market) but it may be the location. Nevertheless, this place has a nice selection of everything you need and is attached to some food places right outside the door of the market. Location wise, it was the closest to where I was so I went here first and found what I needed for that day. I was not disappointed. Pretty good Asian market. Definitely not Super H Mart, but still pretty cool. The funky fish smell wasn't as bad as at a lot of other such markets. There was a certain brand of curry paste I was searching for and they had it. Seemed to have some other sauces and condiments that I had not seen at other markets. They had an aisle with Japanese, FIlipino, Korean and Indonesian food, but they also had Indian products as well. I'd shop here again. read more

Came in here a few times and now giving a review. They have a great Asian produce selection as well as fresh meat and seafood for a great price. Service is great and fast. As of the moment they are still reconstructing some areas and it's looking a lot better than the previous times that I've been here. They have fresh French bread daily 4/$1 which is great for sandwich making. I gave them a four because some Asian produce are a bit old and they sometimes didn't carry certain items they did before. A bit lived in. Some of the things here like the mushrooms left al fresco, and the food at some of the counters in the food court, look like they will help you build a tougher immune system via consumption, and possible contamination. This is like the H-mart but smaller, and more ghetto. Cool to see but not the place for me. The roast duckies looked good though, and cute! read more

It's an excellent place to do some ethnic grocery shopping. My parents and I stop by here every time we visit Dallas to stock up on some of our favorite foods. Seafood and Meat Dept.: So far, everything we have bought here is fresh and priced reasonably. They sell live lobster usually costing $6-8/lb, which is cheap compared to where my parents live. On the downside, you have to be agressive in line in this area. There is no "set" line and sometimes the ticket machine (you know, you pull of a number ticket and wait until your number is called). If you don't speak up or move closer, you could lose your turn. No one knows how to properly set their carts here, so push away if needed. Fresh produce: Lots of the regular fruits and veggies and not so common stuff too (i.e. bitter melon? I had never heard of it until my dad started buying it). Asian goods: As far as we can tell, they carry brands we are most familiar with: Kikkoman, Dynasty, Mama Sita's, and others I can't think of right now, and various items of all kinds. I personally like it because they carry my favorite kind of hopia (a Filipino bean cake pastry type thing), and I tend to stock up for my trip back. It's very busy and crowded on Saturdays and Sundays, so plan accordingly. If you have time, check out the mini shopping center attached to it. read more

A solid selection of fruits and veggies makes it for me (this week I picked up some over priced lychees but balanced it out with pineapple at $.99). This is a pretty large and extensive Asian market. I went shopping yesterday with Chef David Gilbert so we could up a Thai extravaganza. Mostly pretty good. They had almost everything we wanted. It has a faint whiff - nothing like some of the other markets, though. There was some rather disappointing oolong tea at $145.00/lb. We tried a little - but won't be getting more of that, thank you very much. Quite disappointed by the rice selection - we couldn't find Thai sticky rice :-(. And holy basil, not a hope. So the search continues. Still a nice experience with the ability to get most of what we wanted. Oh and the dinner we made was fantastic! read more

Yes, I know this place smells like every other asian market, yes I'm aware that the inside might not be properly clean, and yes I did notice the usual "I'm sorry I hate to bother you, but I'm trying to get some money for [insert lame excuse]" BUT this place has everything you might want from an ethnic market! One of the main reasons why I come here so often is to get my weekly dosage of loose tea leaves. I mean, it is a CHINESE market, they sell Green Tea at a much reduced price from the competition. I also like to get all my Eastern products such as tofu, edemame, yakult, and the vietnamese sub bread! This place definitely needs a huge make-over. It looks very dated inside and out. Also could use some big time cleaning. Having said that, prices here are lower than just about any other large Asian markets.
