Fast forward February 2025 and in the very same location opened Eyeland Hawaii (EH), offering extensive eyewear, both prescription and sunglasses. I stopped by while running multiple errands on this administrative leave day due to inclement weather. I easily found parking and made my way entering EH. I was so happy to see Moe, who is co-owner of this business. She has assisted me for many years now and has extended such amazing service and knowledge of the eyewear that I'm a fan of. I came to EH to confirm my benefits where I'll be eligible for new frames this summer. I also wanted Moe to adjust my frames as I ended up bending it while reading one evening just before falling asleep. While Moe adjusted the frame, I took the time to survey their inventory and saw some frames that appealed to me. In a matter of 5-10 minutes my frames were adjusted back to normal and I was a happy camper. Overall, a great first visit to EH and already looking forward to returning on the summer to pick out a new pair of frames.

Popped into Goldeneye, lady was super quick and helpful -- took her about a minute to find the right size nosepad and pop it in. Generic nosepad, but identical to the branded. Very much appreciate the "emergency roadside" service getting me on my way. 5/5, highly recommend!

The temple hinge had cracked off the main frame part and I took my glasses to Costco optical, LensCrafters, Jins in California and they all couldn't fix it. Jins USA couldn't even fit my old lenses in any of their frames because Jins USA is completely different stock from Jins Japan. I took my broken frame to Paris Miki Ala Moana because they sell Japan frames but they were not helpful and couldn't help me. I know I'm not the first person this has happened to so I was disappointed I couldn't find anyone to fix my glasses. I just include this part so you can avoid all the trouble and just come here if you have a similar problem. SEOUL OPTICAL is on the 12th floor in the Pacific Guardian Tower, which is next to Walmart across Makaloa. They open at 9am. It's not facing the street or in a shopping center so you have to go looking for it. Kenny is the optician and speaks both Korean and English and was extremely helpful and told me he can't fix the broken temple hinge but he did have some frames that would fit my lenses! He immediately showed me a few frames and I was out of there in 10 minutes with my new glasses. My new frames are made in Korea, they are even lighter than my Japan frames, and the nosepads are not the clear silicone ones that turn green after a while, they are silver and so cool. My frames were $150 which is a great price compared to Costco/Lenscrafters and because they are made in Asia, fit my face better than any American brand frames I own. Even if you're not Asian, I highly recommend this place for your optical needs, he does carry US name brand frames too, but the frames made in Asia are far superior and cheaper than a trip to Japan/Korea.

We started coming here because the kid's original eye doctor joined Straub and it became…read moreinconvenient to schedule an appointment (not to mention the drive and parking situation). I had inquired with my own doctor but he doesn't prescribe contacts, and he might have been the one to suggest Dr. Inouye. Scheduling an appointment was super easy! The website calendar/intake form was intuitive and we didn't have to wait long, maybe a week or so. The location is a little unexpected because it's in a mostly residential neighborhood, and above a bar, but which is closed during the day, so the parking situation works out, generally. As far as I can tell there is no accessible entrance, only stairs. Staff are courteous and kind. Dr. Inouye isn't the chatty type, but neither is the kid. They don't do the pupil dilation thing, which is very convenient because the kid had to go back to school after the appt. Everything was computerized. The nurse patiently demonstrated how to put on and remove contacts and let him practice until he was comfortable. I think his first appt was abt an hour long, and the subsequent ones were 45 minutes or so. Generally everyone is patient. They have also been generous with the samples, which we appreciate, because the kid tends to tell me a few days before he runs out and we have to scramble and ration the contacts until the new order arrives... Communication is convenient too. I tend to text more than calling. They'd send the link to pay the invoice via text before they'd order the contacts. 15 minute grace period per appt. They're gracious abt the time I was stuck in traffic (must have been the moon!) and every person driving a vehicle seems to be in a gridlock. They are were understanding and helped reschedule, which I really appreciate. Generally satisfied overall!

From start to finish, everything was smooth and stress-free. The environment was very clean, organized, and sanitary, which I really appreciated. What truly made the experience stand out, though, was the staff. Everyone was knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. Maybe KFE is okay if you are buying a new pair from them since the manufacturer does all the work, but make sure the high-tech eye exam machines are functional if you go in for an exam. That's what you're paying for it, after all.
