    Fish taco à la carte

Food was delicious with an area full of toppings and the dining area was emasculate and very clean. Service was very welcoming and cashier was full of energy. Excellent food and dining experience was also pleasant experience.

Hoochies is, by far, one of the best places to eat in Denton and definitely one of the best places to get Cajun food in the area. The hush puppies are to die for as well as the gumbo. Most recently, I tried the shrimp cocktail and it was the best shrimp cocktail I have ever had. I've dreamed about this shrimp cocktail ever since I had it. The service is always very friendly and very patient while you decide what you want. Although it can be busy at times, you can either sit inside and listen to music while you eat or take it right outside the door to sit in a table and watch people pass by. It's a very chill atmosphere that you're going to want to be a part of right on the edge of Denton's square!

We were traveling for an event in Fort Worth but stayed outside of town until the event. We wanted seafood so we decided on Hoochie's. The restaurant is in a busy district with several other eating establishments. The inside is casual with a typical bar atmosphere. My husband had fried oysters with cole slaw. I had roasted oysters. Our appetizer was fried green tomatoes. All our food was good. We really enjoyed the tomatoes. We are from Alabama so we like a good green tomatoes. These were not overly seasoned as to what we are used to but had a good breaded crust. The roasted oysters were really good and filling. The service is good. You order at the counter and a server brings your meal to you. There are no condiments on your table. These are so.e hot sauces, salt and pepper across from the counter. Otherwise, you will need to ask for others.

My husband wanted to try this place out as he loves catfish. This is in a perfect area as it's in the middle of downtown Denton. Food was great and it came out super quick! Definitely would go back again when we are in the area.

This is a nice little gem near downtown square I would tell you to go check out, definitely great value for the money. It's a very chill vibe inside which I took a liking to after a long highway drive. Their menu consists of quite a few options to choose from as well but mainly within the seafood realm. I tried their fried shrimp and fish basket and it was great! Their selection of drinks was also very plentiful as well and admittedly I enjoyed their sweet tea! Patio seating is available as well so I had to take advantage of the beautiful day. While I did catch them on a slow day I have to point out I noticed that there was ample parking along the street!

Hoochie's is still the best in downtown Denton, Texas, Walt Garrison's, legendary Dallas Cowboys running back's favorite

Hoochie's Creole and Cajun seafood restaurant anchors our historic 1800s classic north Texas small town square area, which stretches eastwards towards Bell Avenue, at the tiny street Industrial St., across from the iconic Dan's Silverleaf live music venue. Creole, shrimp, and oysters are done to exceptional standards. Wash it down with New Orleans, Louisiana Abita or Dixie beer. Save me some, oh yeah! Cheers, Mark F.

We ordered the lobster chowder and the crab leg pot, and both were absolutely delicious. Even though the place was busy, our food came out pretty quickly, which was impressive. After finishing, we realized our crab pot didn't include the usual corn and potatoes, which was a bit of a bummer. Still, everything tasted great overall. I also liked that you can make your own drinks and grab extra items yourself--it's a nice touch. Honestly, everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. The decor was fun but it looked like it hasn't been cleaned in a long time. I'm talking cob webs along the table and napkin holders that looks like they haven't been washed in a decade. The problem we had wasn't necessarily with the service, although it was quite slow considering that there weren't very many other tables occupied. The main problem was with the quality of the food and drinks. I thought the gator kickers were good, and the Cajun fries were hot and crispy, so things started well, but it went south with our first round of drinks. Two people ordered beer - 1 draft beer and 1 longneck, and both tasted terribly skunky. We sent those back and just switched to water. When our food arrived, everything was hot and presented well ... until I noticed that several crawfish tails in my etoufee were dark gray. Im not talking about a vein running through it, but the full tail looked like a rotted toe. I had eaten several bites of it and it was seasoned well, but I stopped when I noticed the first dark gray tail. I looked through and saw a couple other gray ones and stopped eating. The icing on the cake was when the waitress took the 3/4 full beers away and bumped the table with the water pitcher, pouring water on the table, the seat next to me and down my leg, soaking my shorts and sock. Accidents happen, I get it, but she didn't apologize, offer me a towel or anything. We had to waive her down after not seeing her for almost 15 minutes just to get our check, so I guess the service wasn't very good either. This was our first time visiting, and we won't be back. I give 2 stars instead of 1 just because I liked the gator kickers.
