Gulf oysters, catfish po boy with fries, and Mexican shrimp cocktail (spicy) with lots of avocado.

Ate lunch at Hoochie's again and tried something new this time. The fried shrimp tacos (2) were super good - great tortilla, and loved the fries and Brussel sprouts as my sides. We also got their roasted oysters (7) that were so flavorful and the shrimp po boy. Yum!

Hoochies is, by far, one of the best places to eat in Denton and definitely one of the best places to get Cajun food in the area. The hush puppies are to die for as well as the gumbo. Most recently, I tried the shrimp cocktail and it was the best shrimp cocktail I have ever had. I've dreamed about this shrimp cocktail ever since I had it. The service is always very friendly and very patient while you decide what you want. Although it can be busy at times, you can either sit inside and listen to music while you eat or take it right outside the door to sit in a table and watch people pass by. It's a very chill atmosphere that you're going to want to be a part of right on the edge of Denton's square!

We were traveling for an event in Fort Worth but stayed outside of town until the event. We wanted seafood so we decided on Hoochie's. The restaurant is in a busy district with several other eating establishments. The inside is casual with a typical bar atmosphere. My husband had fried oysters with cole slaw. I had roasted oysters. Our appetizer was fried green tomatoes. All our food was good. We really enjoyed the tomatoes. We are from Alabama so we like a good green tomatoes. These were not overly seasoned as to what we are used to but had a good breaded crust. The roasted oysters were really good and filling. The service is good. You order at the counter and a server brings your meal to you. There are no condiments on your table. These are so.e hot sauces, salt and pepper across from the counter. Otherwise, you will need to ask for others.

My husband wanted to try this place out as he loves catfish. This is in a perfect area as it's in the middle of downtown Denton. Food was great and it came out super quick! Definitely would go back again when we are in the area.

This is a nice little gem near downtown square I would tell you to go check out, definitely great value for the money. It's a very chill vibe inside which I took a liking to after a long highway drive. Their menu consists of quite a few options to choose from as well but mainly within the seafood realm. I tried their fried shrimp and fish basket and it was great! Their selection of drinks was also very plentiful as well and admittedly I enjoyed their sweet tea! Patio seating is available as well so I had to take advantage of the beautiful day. While I did catch them on a slow day I have to point out I noticed that there was ample parking along the street!

Hoochie's Creole and Cajun seafood restaurant anchors our historic 1800s classic north Texas small town square area, which stretches eastwards towards Bell Avenue, at the tiny street Industrial St., across from the iconic Dan's Silverleaf live music venue. Creole, shrimp, and oysters are done to exceptional standards. Wash it down with New Orleans, Louisiana Abita or Dixie beer. Save me some, oh yeah! Cheers, Mark F.

Delicious freshly made NoLa style food in the heart of Denton. Freshly made Shrimp po-boy and fried Okra along with the catfish are delicious. And let's not forget about the swirl frozen margarita; which hit the spot perfectly. Staff is super attentive from the kitchen to the cashier and the ambiance is pure creole, and fun!

Delicious!!! We didn't have a wait and the food was brought to us pretty quickly for a family of five! I highly recommend.

I'm not sure how that happens when ordering a combo (I paid $9.31 and the combo was $9.99), but I didn't want to make a fuss since I knew it wasn't the $10.81 with tax (I thought she gave me a student discount or something) and was open to paying whatever difference. I DID chuckle though, thinking, 'they really want this $1.00 and some change,' but I charged it to economy-- and hard times. However, I was told the fries would be an additional $2.59, which is full price. Huh? I attempted to gain understanding, which I'm sure the pressure for the additional money was coming from the man cooking vs. the lady as the messenger, but didn't understand and wasn't paying full price. Fast forward to receiving food, I was told they allowed a 1/2 order of fries since I didn't purchase them. I was done. Chyle... food was terrible. Honey mustard wings were overcooked, tasteless and drowned in sauce. My "free" 1/2 order of fries were cooked too hard for the size. No one in our party was impressed and we felt the food was extremely bland (mind you we ordered a bit of everything). Upon leaving we went straight to Jersey Mike's. This used to be a place we'd frequent if in the area, but it's gone further downhill. It's sad because we love family owned restaurants--but we will not return.

Unique tasting wings. Small, but have a very god original flavor. Must try place in Denton.read more

My 1/2 order of overcooked fries. They're too skinny to be cooked this hard.
