Dang do they know Fish and Chips!!!! Did a phone order because just finished doing a show in town and honestly, tired. Wife said though it was a really cute small business that she thought I would love so taking her word for it, because married for ten years so she knows my opinion just as well as I would. Also, we got a new dog and he came with so I sat in the hotel room. Wife and I both got a 3 piece halibut and fries to go; came with one side, one sauce. She got tartar sauce, I got multiples of tartar, cocktail and Thai chili because my favorite sauce - even more than Franks Red or Cholula. Each piece was good sized. My smallest one was about the 2/3 the length of a dollar bill, biggest was about 3/4 of an inch past the dollar bill scale. Beer battered and fried perfectly. Fries were okay - but it was a to go order so giving them the benefit of the doubt. I'm definitely going again when in town. I really do enjoy this spot. Both times I have been it's been a really good time. Had some cheese curds that were definitely the best in the area. Ooey gooey stretchy cheese was cooked perfectly and paired with wasabi mayo that just made them pop even more. Service was A+ with Cameron taking care of me. Attentive, friendly, and brought me an early birthday slice which was unexpected and so nice. Very loud of course for the holiday weekend but everybody was vibing and enjoying the local events. Review is for takeout and not dine in. Online ordering was a breeze, we had two pups and were traveling and while they do have an outdoor seating area it did not appear to be open for service. We ordered the seafood chowder bread bowl, onion rings and a crab melt. They had everything whipped up in 20 minutes which was great, packing of food excellent and they included napkins/ utensils which I mention as nobody seems to do that anymore! Food was really tasty! My husband loved his chowder bowl and the onion rings were great. Crab/shrimp melt was delicious and I ended up sharing with my husband as even just half was very filling. The young man at the front was very friendly and welcoming. All the seafood was fresh. I enjoyed the shrimp; they were bouncy, but not rubbery like frozen shrimp. The cod was flaky and plump. The halibut was the same cut as the fish tacos--denser and packed with flavor. I really liked this dish, but after a couple of bites, the heavy fried food definitely got to me. We stopped by Sunday around 2:30 and it wasn't busy at all. We were seated in the downstairs area where the bar is. They have a lot of food options, but we opted for a couple cups/bowls of chowder. They offer two kinds: the standard clam chowder but also a smoked salmon chowder that was very intriguing. I had a bowl of the smoked salmon for $11. Also shared chips and salsa for the table for $5. Food was decent. I liked the smoked salmon chowder with the chunks of smoked salmon inside, but next time I think I'll stick to clam chowder as that's my personal fave. However, I was a bit underwhelmed by the salsa, which I'm pretty sure came straight out of a jar, and the chips didn't taste very fresh. Also, one friend ordered a beer and they completely forgot; he didn't get it until we asked them about it maybe 15 minutes after ordering. All the staff were very kind, and we weren't in any rush to get our food, however, the starter calamari came out after our mains arrived, so we did not finish this. Hostess was on it and brought us water... took about 15 minutes to get a waitress and I had to stop her because she took an order from someone next to us who hadn't been there as long as us and she started walking back in. The salad with *Prickly Pear Vinaigrette* is a 10/10 and must try. We made a second order of it after the first one. The fried fish is well seasoned and delicious. The gumbo is really flavorful hearty. And finally, the burger is really cheesy and I loved it, too. Ask for Megan! We stopped in for a late lunch on a weekday and were pleasantly surprised by this pub. It is light and airy, very clean, and had a good selection of dishes. I have a medical condition that necessitates a strict diet, and Megan was great about discussing the menu items knowledgeably, without ever giving me that fake smile that I've received way too many times at other restaurants. In fact, they have laminated sheets that list every item in every dish and the potential allergens in each dish. Very helpful! She helped me create a lovely salmon sandwich (I ate every bite, a rare and wonderful thing) and my husband said that the fish & chips were the best he had on our trip - and he had them THREE days in a row at different restaurants. Happy hour offered $2 off a glass of wine which was a nice bonus. And I have to agree with other reviewers that the fish and chips was excellent. Great, light crispy batter coating on the fish and the fries are phenomenal. So why not five stars? When I walked in, the place smelled divine. We started with a bowl of clam chowder, which was rich and delicious. Next came an order of coconut shrimp that came with a spicy but sweet sauce to dip them in. Both my hubby and I had the 7 oz halibut fish and chips that had a great tasting tarter sauce. The fish was cooked perfectly and was not heavy on the breading, it was nice and crispy. Every item we tried was outstanding. I'm not the biggest fan of most fish but this was the best Cod I've ever tried. Everything was hot and cooked fresh. Looked like all the sauces were house made too, which I loved. I tried The Ocean so I could try a variety of foods and I liked them all. I'm not a fan of oysters, but it's was fun to try. Came in and was greeted by a very friendly host who had our party seated right away. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Their clam chowder is amazing and flavorful a MUST get! They have plenty of fish options which all sounded delicious and overall the staff was extremely kind. The only issue was with our waiter: when seated a gentleman came to the table next to us, sat down, pulled out a notepad and asked what would we want. I was very thrown off considering I had no idea that he was actually our waiter. The duration of our time there other waiters checked up on us while our designated waiter only came back at the end.
