Was in town for a bday trip and ended up with what I hope was an unlucky experience. Service was not good. Our server couldn't or didn't know how to open our wine bottle. Got some oysters which ended up coming with some bizarre sweet dipping sauce?? I've never seen it before. Asked the server if we could get some vinegar or like a cocktail sauce and was given horseradish. Got some fish and steak for our entrees which upon arrival/ my fish dish's sauce got sloshed all over my boyfriend's lap and table which the server was somehow not aware of. Fish was alright and the steak was very overcooked. Honestly nothing against the server, they were very kind. Just either wasn't their day, they felt overwhelmed, or they were knew. August 5, 2025 - Port Angeles, WA We had a wonderful dining experience here. We hadn't made a reservation, but timing was on our side. The host found us a table for two on the second floor. Our server, Johnny, was fantastic--friendly, quick, and spot-on with his recommendations. I ordered a prickly pear martini ($15) that was refreshing, while my husband's Old-Fashioned was equally good. For dinner, I chose the Kokopelli Combination ($42), and it was outstanding: perfectly cooked scallops and shrimp in a white wine garlic sauce, grilled salmon, and a crab cake over arugula with garlic lemon basil aioli, served with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I'm usually hesitant to order scallops, but these were flawless--tender and full of flavor. At Johnny's suggestion, we shared a bottle of Criss Cross Chardonnay ($27), which paired beautifully with the meal. We stopped at Kokopelli while passing through Port Angeles, and while we had a nice evening, we felt it was a little overhyped. It's warm and cozy in the restaurant, plenty of seating available, but it is one of the more popular places in town, so try and make a reservation if you can. All the staff was super helpful and nice. Our server was Burgundy and she was fantastic. The food was good, but we didn't think it was anything more than, well, good. Nothing wowed us, and the prices, we felt were a bit high, especially for a port. I got the seafood platter and my wife got the steak. After we came back on the ferry from Victoria BC, we stopped for dinner here. Pleasantly surprised by the flavorful food, the outstanding service, and it is a great environment. Open floor plan trimmed in wood and stone with a coveted upstairs dining area as well. Our server, Kathryn, was absolutely amazing! She was friendly and smiled the entire time. The rest of the staff was equally friendly and made this experience top rate. The portions were generous and filling. In between 3 and 4 stars for our experience. We made a reservation using their website and the interface they use doesn't seem to provide an email confirmation. Booking multiple weeks in advance of our trip made it difficult to remember our reservation time. We tried to call the day of our meal and didn't get an answer. We ultimately just walked down to the location and after a few minutes saw a hostess that was able to comfirm our time. Upon arriving at the restaurant for our 6pm reservation we were lead to our table after a brief wait. As an aside, I requested, if possible, a view of the waterfront for our meal as it was our 3rd wedding anniversary, sadly, this request went unfulfilled and instead we were seated behind a wall upstairs. After 10 minutes at the table our server arrived, we found it odd she didn't introduce herself. She mentally noted our entire order and we quickly received our first course, smoked salmon chowder and kokonut shrimp...both very good! We also were delivered our entrees with amazing speed shortly after we finished up the first course. Both the crab cakes and the combo were very good. An underrated highlight being the delicious mashed potatoes. Another minor issue was the fact that our server only revisited our table one time to refill our drinks. This is despite "warning" her that I tended to drink a lot of iced tea. She also didn't offer us a dessert at the end of the meal and took quite a long time to deliver and retrieve our check. Contrary to some negative reviews, we had an excellent meal. Crab cakes compared well with some of the best I've eaten elsewhere. Halibut was well prepared and tasty. Kokopelli is really nicely decorated, with warm imitation brick walls and lots of clean wooden walls, stairs and banister, wooden floors, and modern wooden tables and chairs. Overall, I really liked the feel of the place. We got a table right next to the banister on the second floor looking down over the lower floor, definitely my favorite spot! Our server's name was Johnny, and he was great. He got our drink orders right away. They came out quickly. I got an old-fashioned and my wife got a prickly pear martini. Both drinks were excellent. Johnny took our order when he brought the drinks out. My wife got the Kokopelli combination, which included salmon, scallops, a few jumbo shrimp, a delicious crab cake, and mashed potatoes and cooked broccoli. I ordered the crab cake appetizer that came with a delicious drizzle on top, roasted corn, and sliced avocado. We also ordered a bottle of the Criss Cross Chardonnay on Johnny's recommendation. We didn't have to wait too long before being seated at a two top on the second floor The smoked salmon chowder was surprisingly good and hearty. The house salad was large enough to share. I loved the combination of queso fresco, chopped pecans and cranberries on top of mixed greens. The black cod wasn't bad. Tender, flakey with the taste of umami savoriness mixed with hints of sweetness. My son opted for the flat iron steak, which was tender and cooked as ordered. Eventually seated after about 10 minutes, at a table that seemed like an afterthought with the bartender as our server... Despite a mix-up with our reservation, the hostess went out of her way to get us a table even though the restaurant was clearly very busy. That set the tone for the rest of the night. The service throughout was genuinely kind and attentive. But the food was on another level entirely. Everything we ordered was excellent, but the crab-stuffed halibut deserves special mention. It may honestly be the best dish I've ever had in my life. To this day, I compare other dishes to it, and nothing has come close. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. Excellent service. Everyone was so friendly and patient while he had our drinks and decided what to eat. I ordered the crab and shrimp melt. Cheesy and full of seafood. So good. Fries were crispy on the outside. Just the way I like them. Wife got some sort of pasta. I don't recall the name. It was on the special menu. She liked it. The margaritas were so good. We had a great view that looked out toward the water from upstairs. They have a few pairs of binoculars sitting in the windows for people to use. What an amazing dinner! Our friend, Mike M., works here as a server so we had to come see him in action. Boy, are we glad we did. First off, we met Justin on the way in and he was so entertaining. We love the vibe of the whole restaurant. Husband and I got the house salad to start. I got the Prickly Pear Vinaigrette dressing and husband for the Ranch. They make all their dressings and butter in-house. I want a bottle of the dressing to take home. Then, we both got the Flat Iron steaks. Holy cow, how did they get this cut to be so tender?! Kokopelli Grill, Michael McQuay, and their entire team literally saved our wedding dinner. When our caterer dragged their feet for weeks until less than 2 weeks out they finally send us a menu and quote for $480/person, more than triple our budget, we had to scramble fast to figure out another option and no other caterers were available. Kokopelli, as far as I can tell, does do catering - but the weekend of our wedding was also the same weekend as the Crab Festival going on between Port Angeles and Sequim, and they don't cater that particular weekend. Regardless, Michael helped accommodate a pick up order that one of our guests split with us early evening to get, plate, and serve. Everyone loved the food Kokopelli provided. The Poblano Chicken was excellent, the garlic mashed potatoes had such a great flavor, and I am personally not a seafood guy, but I wanted to indulge in one of the crab cakes which we ordered for our guests, and it tasted quite delicious! Thank you again to everyone at Kokopelli for helping turn our wedding dinner from an irrecoverable disaster, to down right perfect. We were a party of four for a special meal 5/24/26. Spent $410 (almost $500 with tip). Honestly we probably would have had a tastier experience spending $150 at Gastropub. The most bizarre dish was raw oysters on the half shell that were served with nothing but a sugar syrup - what the heck?. Nothing else really popped. Crab-stuffed halibut should have been amazing but somehow didn't have much flavor. Their priciest special - herb crusted rack of lamb - had a soggy crust and maybe 4 oz of edible meat on what was clearly the small half of a puny rack. Desserts were decent. In a small coastal town, this restaurant on the water is worth visiting. The view of the ocean from some of the tables is quite beautiful and makes for a nice experience. By far the best thing I had there was the smoked salmon chowder! I only got a cup as a side for my burger, but I wish I had ordered the full size bowl of it! The burger I ordered which was a mix of wagyu, elk, and wild boar was decent, but nothing to write home about. I've had better tasting meat patties for a burger which I think is the most important part of a burger. The smoked salmon chowder brought this place to four stars. I am deeply disappointed by the conduct of the hostess and manager. My friend faced blatant ADA discrimination, definitely racially fueled. Manager proceeded to argue with us while violating seating discrimination; refusal to allow us to sit in certain areas. The manager was dismissive and hostile, specifically stating per OWNER'S direction, "people with service animals need to sit in the front of the resaturant, that is the designated area". A restaurant should be a place for everyone, but it is clear that this establishment does not value or respect all of its customers. I will be filing formal civil rights complaints. I had a deeply upsetting experience at this restaurant that felt both discriminatory toward my disability and racially biased. I was told that because I had a service dog, I could only sit in a small area near the door with no view, while other guests had access to the full restaurant. Being separated like that is segregation and unequal treatment. For clarity, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is very clear. Under Title III, 28 C.F.R. § 36.302(c)(7): "Individuals with disabilities shall be permitted to be accompanied by their service animals in all areas of a place of public accommodation where members of the public are allowed to go." ADA guidance also states that people with service animals cannot be isolated or treated less favorably than other patrons. Restricting someone to an undesirable section because of a service dog raises serious concerns about compliance with these protections. Beyond the seating issue, the manager and server were rude, dismissive, and their treatment toward me were very clearly racially motivated and unkind. The overall interaction left me feeling unwelcome, disrespected, and singled out. Additionally, I want to document that the manager specifically threatened to refuse service. He stated that because I have a service dog, I was required per the owners rules sit in a disability seating and implied that my disability-related needs would be deprioritized based on other people's comfort. During the interaction, he was rude, repeatedly interrupted me and my friend while we were speaking, and did not allow us to fully explain the situation. This handling of the interaction felt dismissive and discriminatory rather than supportive or compliant with disability accommodations. I hope this establishment provides proper ADA and diversity training for staff and takes steps to ensure all guests, regardless of disability or race, are treated equally and respectfully. read more

This was my first time trying them and I thought it was pretty good. My friends who have tried them before said they've had better ones. I ordered the smoked salmon fettuccine and Cesar salad. The cedar salad was very tangy and I did not like it. You also get complimentary bread and I filled up on that's so I was pretty full by the time the pasta came. I was stuffed... but still ordered the crème brûlée to go because self-control is overrated and it was absolutely worth it. And listen--don't judge me--but I half-jokingly asked for some tartar sauce. They didn't have any... so Chuck casually ran next door to Hook & Line Pub to get some. I mean??? THAT is elite service.
