I was thoroughly surprised with the burger from The Rail. Upon entering, there is a long bar in front. That's where you order and then you take your number to your choice of table or bar. We sat in the dining area, there is plenty of seating. I couldn't figure out what the design theme was. They had skateboards on the wall and some art that I could not make out but looked sinister lol. I ordered the Sweet Spot burger. It reminded me of the Western Bacon from Carl's Jr but of course more stout and tastier. I just wish it had more sauce, I had to douse some ketchup on it. The tater tots were cooked to a nice crisp. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon after a long weekend backpacking in the Olympics. You order at the bar. The guy working didn't even say hi and he seemed like he was very unhappy to be taking my order. That was the worst of our experience. The food was delicious, they have an extensive tap list, our food came out relatively quickly, and they have great art on the wall. Fantastic spot portside in Port Angeles. At first you can't quite get the idea of it until you go inside, where you find out it has a skate vibe. Wonderfully friendly person at the counter who was entirely ready for everyone to bring their dogs (dog friendly!) - which they did. First time ever that we didn't have to sit outside with our dog, as long as we kept her to herself and close to our table. Yes, it is right by an old rail line. We ordered a faux chicken burger (delish) and a breakfast sandwich. Also be sure to try the beignets which are delightful with an apple-y syrup drizzled over. Stopped by, the Rail while exploring the Olympic Peninsula. I'm always looking for a good burger and fortunately these folks have one. I had the bacon cheeseburger and added an onion ring. It had a nice synergy, nice flavors, the bun held up. This was a solid Burger. Obviously, skateboarding is certainly the driving force for their ambiance. A lot of classic decks on the wall, a cool vibe, especially for those of us who used to skate. Service was mediocre at best if I'm being honest. It certainly wasn't bad, but it wasn't very friendly either. A lot of young people who kind of seemed irritated with the grind. I get it work sucks, no biggie. After paying I took my drink and number to a table near the middle of the restaurant. There was moderately loud music coming from the back of the restaurant and a television showing sports. I waited a very reasonable amount of time for my meal and it was delivered to me by a very kind employee who offered sauces. The bacon cheese burger was served with lettuce tomato and pickles and it was a solid burger, not too greasy, and it was complemented with some sauce. Needless to say, we were relieved to snag the last available table at The Rail. At The Rail, patrons order at the counter. The young woman who took our order was both friendly and efficient. My friend ordered a burger, tater tots, and a beer. The woman who took our order told him that all their beers are provided by a local brewery. He is a connoisseur of beer, and thought whatever he ordered was "good, but not great." He was pleased with his meal. I ordered the Vaccine burger with fries. The fries were really good. The burger would likely have been good too if it hadn't been SMOTHERED in super sweet barbecue sauce. It took far too long to get our food (well over a half hour). Burger was good, can't comment on the tots because I grabbed my burger and headed over to the ferry before they could put the tots together. So I paid for tots but left because things were moving too slowly, at least for me I had asked the guy taking my order if I could be out in 20 minutes because I needed to be in my car at the ferry in 25 minutes I imagined that he would have passed on the info that "this guy needs to catch the boat," but I don't think it happened (I left a 20% tip) My burger hit the grill surprisingly long time after I had ordered it, like pushing 15 minutes after I had ordered it the meat hit the grill. Reckon I had hoped for a heads up to the chef on my behalf There were other customers but they weren't crazy busy I would not be opposed to eating there again (maybe I can pick up my tots ), but if it's in the context of waiting on the ferry I will approach it differently (call ahead or allow 45 minutes to walk over, get food, walk back to the car) I know there was someone else wanting to get out of there to catch the ferry. They do have some great beers / ciders on tap and hard drinks as well. You know how when someone has a bad experience, they blast every review spot they can find. Well that is me with the rail, but ALL happy comments. Was my experience perfect nope, will i be back YES!!! I had one of the best burgers and tots ever. I was in town for a convention, and we had all already learned that the restaurant at the Red Lion, was horrible, very expensive, very slow, and for me, simply horrible. so, we didn't have a ton of time, and a bunch of us had spotted this little gem, just down the street, so our group headed there, there were 8 of us. We were not the first in line, at least 2 smaller groups and a few singles beat us there. Needless to say they were overwhelmed with people on an off season Saturday. There were 2 of them. One to ring up and serve, and 1 cooking. It pretty much took our whole hour for all of us to get our food, and that was fine, and those that came in after us had to change gears and get theirs to go, because they were running out of time. Want to know why they get 5 stars? Because they handled it. No outward stress, no slamming stuff, no fuss, just smile and keep moving, quite efficiently I might add. My burger and tots came to me HOT, and SOOOOO good. reminded me of my childhood going to the local burger stand, and the tots, cooked to perfection. Seems sill i know, but i love a good tot, and they are often overcooked or super greasy, and I don't eat out a lot, so it is nice when it meets expectations. We had to go too, and everyone at my table had finished their food by the time i got mine, so I didn't want to keep them, and so I ate the tots and a few bites of my burger, and got the rest of it to go. Totally worth it by the way. Had it for breakfast the next morning, perfect! just as good the next day. considering how ridiculously expensive everything is right now, the prices were very reasonable for such a quality meal. everyone at my table had a similar experience regardless of what they got. so i shall speak on their behalf, and strongly recommend this place if you are in town. read more

It's too noisy to carry on any kind of conversation here, but the food is good and the staff is great. I had the curry wings and the "Vaccine" burger with tater tots. It doesn't come with dipping sauce, but you can order some. The fry sauce was actually some of the best fry sauce I've ever had. The wings were mild and moist. I look forward to trying the barbecue wings next time. The burger comes with bacon, grilled onions, jalapeños, barbecue sauce, and bleu cheese, but I got cheddar instead. It was pretty fabulous. After being treated very rudely at Bourbon West we strolled over to the Rail to get a cocktail and an appetizer. What we got was much more than that! Tonya greeted us with such warmth and was so friendly that it completely made us forget the miserable experience we had just a few minutes before. I told Tonya this was my first time in the Rail since they got the full bar and she was patient and kind with me. Explaining their specialty cocktails and making some dining recommendations to me. I tried the figgy mule and was blown away. What a heavenly taste of autumn in a delicious drink. We had the mac and cheese balls and they were a nice appetizer. The cocktails were inspired and well made and the hospitality sets a high bar for the downtown area.
