New menu and cocktails. Great sharing plates and something for everyone. Note the shareable items are HUGE. The nextdoor gastropub really does utilize the small space they have to best ability with patio tables, booths, tables or bar seats. They have s 90 min seating policy as they get busy but you can put your name on a list and get a text. They have a great variety of fabulous burgers, fish n chips, market priced tuna/crab dishes and now offers gyros and other additions. (we still need to come back to try more items but everything looks good.) Service is still friendly and refills on water was appreciated. I had a grapefruit and chilie spice margarita which was tasty! Lots of new food & drink items, so if you haven't been in for awhile, it's time to check em out again. Tried and true for years!

We three septuagenarians had a full day hiking the beaches of the Olympic National Park. We were tired and we were hungry! Yelp to the rescue. I quickly identified this as the most likely place in Port Angeles to sate our hunger and thirst! We were not disappointed!. The Main Street is humble but all-American. We arrived at 5:30 and we were quickly seated in a comfortable, tall banquette. Our server was Miranda and she was a total pro. She was knowledgeable, efficient, perky and knew her business like the pro she is. The menu is real deal Gastro-pub, there are plenty of craft cocktails to satisfy any taste. The double vodka rocks was $12, the special was any burger for $15. I had the Mrs Newton burger with Brie and raspberry jam with smashed patties. SO GOOD! The chowder was excellent the tataki small plate was outstanding! We got the chocolate thing for dessert. We had a great evening!

Spring forward with Tito's. Cucumber, elderflower, lime, and I can't remember what else. This was one of my favorite drinks I've ever had!

I stopped here twice while in Port Angeles because half the restaurants in town are closed on Sunday nights. Both times I had a good experience. I sat at the bar since I was alone and it was very busy in the restaurant. First time I got the tuna melt with garlic parm fries. The tuna melt was fantastic. The garlic parm fries were just okay. They had decent flavor but were pretty dry. Second time I got the mushroom and Swiss burger with sweet potato fries. The sweet fries were pretty good, though maybe not totally worth an extra four dollar upcharge. But better than the garlic parm fries. The mushroom Swiss burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had. If you go here, stick to the sandwiches and don't worry so much about the fries. Get a salad or something. I would come back though. I had some great cocktails at the bar, and the bartender was very friendly and provided great service.

mmm ok, we have been walking by this very full spot for 3 days. It was here or we look for seafood . So a delicious mushroom burger for each with jack cheese and fries. We sat at the high top tables , plenty of room. i would definitely come back. Our server was a doll. Very happy to be there. You can tell.

Really enjoyed the Not Your Average Joe burger and the Mule Kick at the Next Door Gastropub! The burger was delicious and filling, I was curious about the onion straws and they turned out to be my favorite ingredient. As for drinks, I loved how they had a separate section for Margarita and Mule options in addition to the House Cocktail menu. I ordered the Mule Kick and my friend ordered the Maiden America, which is another solid drink if you like cucumbers. My drink was spicy and tangy, just the way I like it. Our servers were super friendly and lovely to chat with, and the prices were reasonable for the amount of food. I would absolutely come back if I'm in Port Angeles again!

After a long day of hiking, Next Door Gastropub was exactly what we needed. The food was absolutely delicious with large, satisfying portions that hit the spot. The service was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. We did have to wait about an hour for a table, but given how busy the place was and the great reviews we'd seen, we decided it was worth it and it absolutely was. If you're in Port Angeles, this spot is a must-visit!

That's a small bowl at home.

First review. Adequate service and a good fish and chips. Nothing really fun...not a lot of personality....but the job was done. More like 3.5. Head chef was there and this was sold at $12 as a "bowl" of chowder. Small bowl at home barely a stew, let alone chowder. You let this go out, chef? Cheap and bad quality. 0 stars. You'll prolly put it on a shirt.

Highly recommend! We arrived at 6:30 on a Monday and were told it would be a 45-60 minute wait. We were seated 45 minutes later by a friendly host and server. It was a bit warm inside but the vibes were good. For drinks we ordered a Marionberry Cream Ale (mocktail) which was so unique and a cider. We got a starter of Crab Jalapeño Dip which was 100000/10, would literally eat it for the rest of my life. For mains we did Ron Burgundy burger which was juicy with generous toppings and the Tuna Melt which has perfectly toasted bread with a flavorful tuna mix.

This is a wonderful place to eat after a day of hiking, but be prepared for a wait! The pub is very popular. We put our names on the list at 4:30 pm on a Sunday and still had a 30-minute wait. The drinks were impressive. We tried various ciders and beers, and the pineapple cider was especially good. For our meal, we ordered the brussels sprouts appetizer. They were charred wonderfully, with a balance between the crispy outside and tender centers. For entrees, the fish tacos were great, and I really liked the addition of mango chunks. The burgers, however, were a major highlight--some of the best we've had in a long time. The patties were incredibly juicy, and the fries came with a delicious seasoning. The service was great. They gave us excellent suggestions, and the food was fast. It's a fun place to hang out, grab food, and drink.

albacore tuna melt, ron burgundy burger
    Sarah C.

we waited ~40min on a saturday ~8:30pm, probably since it was one of the only spots that opens late. I tried the albacore tuna melt ($18) with fries ($2), ron burgundy burger, and poutine ($14) with beef tips ($10) and fried egg ($4). I thought the food was a bit overpriced, the fries felt like they were frozen before and hard. also, one of the chefs yelled at my friend because the chef was in the restroom and my friend tried to turn the doorknob (he didn't know it was occupied).

    Indoor seating

SO GOOD! Best fish and chips & fish tacos we've had since Ireland. So amazing we came back for lunch both days during our visit cause we had to have it again. The poutine was also incredible. Our waitress was very nice and took great care of us! Such a cute place with cozy indoor seating as well as a patio with heaters which is great. We will definitely be back one day!

Not so Not Your Average Joe

This place is a gem in Port Angeles. It will likely have a wait since it is small, but worth it... plan ahead or be patient. The staff was friendly and food was top notch. Every one of our family of five was happy. Not so average Joe burger (coffee rubbed) with hand cut chips shown in picture.

Veggie burger - mushy black bean patty
    Sara S.

I really wanted to like this place! We were just in town for the day, and asked for recommendations from our hotel concierge. She gave us a list of restaurants and highlighted her favorites. This wasn't one of them, but the others didn't have vegan options, and this one had pretty good reviews on Yelp, so we went for it. We grabbed seats at the bar since seating is limited and we didn't want to wait 45 minutes. We ordered the Buffalo cauliflower, which was the best thing we had. My husband also ordered the clam chowder, and asked the bartender if it was good enough for a bowl-size, or if he should just get a cup-size. Of course, she said bowl-size. It arrived and it was in the smallest bowl--definitely only cup-size, but she confirmed that was the bowl-size. I'm really curious what a cup-size looks like. My husband said it was fine, but nothing special. He ordered the Ron Burgundy burger and also said it was fine, the flavors just weren't really popping. However, I ordered the veggie burger, a black bean patty, without the aioli. It was terrible. The patty was very mushy. When it arrived, I could tell it didn't even touch the flat top or a grill. It has no crispy texture at all. I touched it, and it squished out under my finger. I took a couple of bites, but it was like eating refried beans between two buns. It was not good at all. When we were done eating, the bartender came to pick up our dishes, and my husband asked her if the black bean patty was supposed to be that mushy. She said yes (which was crazy to me; who intends for a burger to be mushy?). Then she said they were trying out a new recipe. I told her it wasn't very good. She said she would share that with the kitchen staff. Then she handed us the full bill--no compensation, even after our conversation and her picking up an almost untouched burger. We paid and left. Definitely will never come back. I'm only giving 2 stars because the Buffalo cauliflower was good.

When I go to places I like I represent. Bought this hat. But they have really cool tees as well

    Their Facebook says they're closed?

I did read that they are closed for 10 days until contact tracing can be done

    Are they wheelchair friendly?

    Yes!

How late is the kitchen open on a Friday night? All the way to midnight? Or shut down at like 10 pm?

Actually, we ended up going there late because it was one of the few places open. We were there until midnight. We arrived at 11:00 pm and it was still busy!

A few things to correct your comments: - there were three tables were seated following me and they all got the dishes before me. One table with couple, one with four people and one at the counter. - the note I put on was not to the waitress blunt to you. I said specifically " lady with black shirt". Your tone made me felt that I shouldn't check what is my order status after 30mins wait. We came in around 9:30am Saturday and ordered traditional breakfast with French toast. Waited over 30mins, the later customers all got their dishes and next table finished theirs. When the waitress was checking with kitchen for us, a lady with black shirt came and said: "it normal wait for 30mins and you are 25mins now, still five mins to go". I am a bigger supporter of local small business, but I would appreciate if they can let me know when we arrived that waiting is 30mins after ordered. I still gave 15% tips as I can see the sorry face from the waitress - I normally pay min 20% for small business. I also noticed that we were the only Asian table during that period.

Shockingly expensive for what we got…read more We came here with four adults and one 8-year-old child while trying to catch the ferry back toward Seattle. We had originally tried to eat at the gastropub just two doors down, but it was completely packed with a 45-minute to 1-hour wait. Meanwhile, Base Camp had only 2-3 occupied tables out of maybe 10-12, so because we were short on time, we decided to eat here instead. Unfortunately, I wish we had waited or gone somewhere else. Here's what we ordered: - Two alcohol flights -- $16 each - Dungeness crab dip -- $18 - Chicken wings -- $20 - Hot honey apple butter flatbread -- $16 - Garlic butter steak bites -- $20 - Cider-braised pulled pork tacos -- $21 - Mac and cheese -- $18 - Kids' cheeseburger -- $13 Our bill was $176 before tip. After a $25 tip and a 3% credit-card fee that we didn't notice until afterward, we spent a little over $200 for five people -- more than $40 per person, including our 8-year-old. My eyeballs practically popped out of my head when I saw the total. There were definitely some positives. I really like the concept of sourcing ingredients locally, and they even have a map showing where their ingredients come from. Our server was friendly. The chicken wings were really good, the fries with the kids' cheeseburger were also very good, and the cheeseburger itself was probably one of the better things we ordered. But for these prices, I expected considerably more. The $20 garlic butter steak bites were extremely chewy. Some pieces felt like I was chewing forever. The $18 mac and cheese was nothing special and honestly tasted like something I could make better at home. The $18 Dungeness crab dip was a very small appetizer and didn't feel worth the price. And the $21 pulled pork tacos were just two average-sized tacos. The portions in general were surprisingly small. Even when we asked for plates for all the shared food, we were given tiny appetizer-sized plates, maybe six inches across. Trying to actually eat off them without food falling off the sides was awkward. Full-sized plates would have made much more sense. The atmosphere wasn't particularly enjoyable either. The music was louder than I would want for a restaurant, and the speaker system sounded distorted and very bass-heavy. Instead of being pleasant background music, it was distracting and made the dining experience less comfortable. The alternative-style music selection also wasn't to my taste, although obviously that's subjective. A lower volume and clearer sound system would have made the atmosphere much nicer. I don't mind paying premium prices for a genuinely great meal. But this simply did not feel like a $200 meal. We ate at another pub the previous day and spent around $100 for all five of us, and we left much more satisfied. In retrospect, seeing only 2-3 tables occupied here while the gastropub two doors down was completely packed probably should have been our clue. I really wanted to like Base Camp because I appreciate the local-sourcing concept, and the wings were legitimately good. But between the small portions, very high prices, chewy steak bites, mediocre mac and cheese, unpleasant sound system, and $200+ final cost, I can't justify more than two stars. If we're back in Port Angeles, we'll be eating somewhere else.

My bf was enticed by the breakfast burrito (ngl, this was probably one of the BEST breakfast burritos we've ever had!) it's not the standard breakfast burrito...no...it has crispy hashbrowns like really crisp, followed by some outstanding flavors! We only wished the breakfast burrito was a tad bit bigger but wow, it was so delicious! I had their special: the fried chicken sando! That was a messy yet scrumptious sando! The fried chicken was perfect and crisp, the sando overall was nicely stacked. A little too much iceberg lettuce for my taste but I really loved the sliced pickles and not to mentioned, their well-seasoned 4 ingredient fries!!! Me and a group of friends (8 total) were visiting the Olympic peninsula for a camping/backpacking weekend and stopped by Midtown on a busy Friday night and were quickly seated. The food tasted good and we had great service during our visit. Since we were a large group, and already had shared expenses for the weekend, when asked about the check we offered to put everything on one tab to save time. Later on that night however, after we had set up our tents at our campground, my partner began to experience intense stomach pains which turned into full blown food poisoning. I spent the next several hours helping them, before I also got sick. It was at this point we realized that it was from the chicken sandwich my partner had ordered at Midtown, since I had eaten her last remaining bites of the sandwich and this was the only food we shared that other members of our group had not also eaten (we all shared food at lunch earlier in the day). My partner and I essentially spent the night in the campground bathroom (we are extremely lucky they had one). The next morning we were feeling depleted, dehydrated, and decided to head home to recover while the rest of the group continued on the trip. We spent the rest of the weekend trying to get food down. I called Midtown the next business day and let them know what happened for their awareness mostly. They thanked me and told me their policy is a full refund if something like this happens and that the group should expect it soon. We didn't hear from them or get notification of a refund so we reached out a week later and they said they forgot and now the owner would only provide a refund for me and my partner's meals and that they never offered a full refund. They said since we had "12 people" on the ticket they wouldn't do it (our tab for 8 people was $186 before tax and tip) but if we had a doctor's note that could change things. I promised them we weren't making it all up and that I've never gotten food poisoning from a restaurant or even left a bad review before! Tired of the gas lighting I decided it wasn't worth arguing and let them know this will have to be my first. It's a shame their management is unprofessional because our experience in the restaurant with the food and staff was nice.
