So glad we found this place on our way to ONP. They don't take reservations but they will add you to a text based waitlist. We had a 15-20 min wait on a busy Tuesday night but we're glad we waited! Our server was friendly and helpful with choosing cocktails because they had a to. Of unique selection. Haven't ordered more than one at a restaurant before but had to try two here! We thoroughly enjoyed our final selections of Ginny from the Block, Garden era, strawberry bourbon smash and Blackberry goose beer! For our mains we got the alaskan cod and chips and Blackened cod tacos and loved it all. They really know how to prepare tasty cod! The Alaskan cod and chips had the perfect crispy texture and my blackened cod tacos had all the flavor profiles you need. A hint of heat in the Thai chili slaw with a creamy avocado, Crema and the brightness of mango salsa and of course a touch of sour with the HOUSE made pickled red onions. Even better they let me substitute corn tortillas in for the flour. But you can't mix and match your proteins. I didn't need to because I loved both of my blackened cod tacos. The atmosphere is in the name: cozy Gastropub. They have a plethora of beers on tap, but parking is solely on the street so a little bit more challenging than picking your beer but I don't think it would be too challenging if you're up for a small walk. 5* for the food and service but -1* because they somehow lost our place in line, which I found out after waiting 70 minutes (the restaurant was not very busy at all) I ordered the chimichurri chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. My wife, daughter, son-in-law, and I dropped in for lunch around 1230 on a beautiful Friday in June. The place was packed with many watching a World Cup game. By some small miracle, we secured an outside table. The hostess put up an umbrella to spare us from sunburn while we ate. It took a while for our server to appear, but once engaged, things were speedy. Our server was super friendly and took great care of us. The pub dip was calling my name. The sandwich was a good size and tasty. The meat was cut thicker than I like, though. Also, I paid a $6 upcharge for a side salad that was served in something not much larger than a ramekin. The salad was very fresh and enjoyable, but there wasn't enough of it. My wife went with a smash burger and was thoroughly disappointed with it. Her burger was served cold and just seemed like patties from a grocer's freezer. There were high points. My daughter's Westsider (BLT) sandwich was enjoyable. The nextdoor gastropub really does utilize the small space they have to best ability with patio tables, booths, tables or bar seats. They have s 90 min seating policy as they get busy but you can put your name on a list and get a text. They have a great variety of fabulous burgers, fish n chips, market priced tuna/crab dishes and now offers gyros and other additions. We three septuagenarians had a full day hiking the beaches of the Olympic National Park. We were tired and we were hungry! Yelp to the rescue. I quickly identified this as the most likely place in Port Angeles to sate our hunger and thirst! We were not disappointed!. The Main Street is humble but all-American. We arrived at 5:30 and we were quickly seated in a comfortable, tall banquette. Our server was Miranda and she was a total pro. I stopped here twice while in Port Angeles because half the restaurants in town are closed on Sunday nights. Both times I had a good experience. I sat at the bar since I was alone and it was very busy in the restaurant. First time I got the tuna melt with garlic parm fries. The tuna melt was fantastic. The garlic parm fries were just okay. They had decent flavor but were pretty dry. Second time I got the mushroom and Swiss burger with sweet potato fries. The sweet fries were pretty good, though maybe not totally worth an extra four dollar upcharge. But better than the garlic parm fries. The mushroom Swiss burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had. If you go here, stick to the sandwiches and don't worry so much about the fries. Get a salad or something. The burgers were too greasy and mine was way undercooked for what I asked for (medium). My stomach didn't feel great after eating it. The fries were decent, but are a separate add on to the burger. Really enjoyed the Not Your Average Joe burger and the Mule Kick at the Next Door Gastropub! The burger was delicious and filling, I was curious about the onion straws and they turned out to be my favorite ingredient. As for drinks, I loved how they had a separate section for Margarita and Mule options in addition to the House Cocktail menu. I ordered the Mule Kick and my friend ordered the Maiden America, which is another solid drink if you like cucumbers. My drink was spicy and tangy, just the way I like it. We ordered take out here tonight and because we had a long day of hiking and driving Olympic NP, we decided to get take out because we can all barely move. I ordered the Ron Burgundy, my husband ordered the Pub Burger, and our daughter got mac and cheese and the hummus plate. First and foremost, my daughter is super picky. The drinks were impressive. We tried various ciders and beers, and the pineapple cider was especially good. For our meal, we ordered the brussels sprouts appetizer. They were charred wonderfully, with a balance between the crispy outside and tender centers. For entrees, the fish tacos were great, and I really liked the addition of mango chunks. However, I ordered the veggie burger, a black bean patty, without the aioli. It was terrible. The patty was very mushy. When it arrived, I could tell it didn't even touch the flat top or a grill. It has no crispy texture at all. I touched it, and it squished out under my finger. I took a couple of bites, but it was like eating refried beans between two buns. It was not good at all. When we were done eating, the bartender came to pick up our dishes, and my husband asked her if the black bean patty was supposed to be that mushy. She said yes (which was crazy to me; who intends for a burger to be mushy?). Then she said they were trying out a new recipe. I told her it wasn't very good. She said she would share that with the kitchen staff. Then she handed us the full bill--no compensation, even after our conversation and her picking up an almost untouched burger. We paid and left. I'm from Las Vegas and recently got back from a vacation in port Angeles. My husband and I tried out a few spots for dinner and this one was by far the best. The vibe and music made us feel at home. The food and service just made it even better! If you ever go, the Codfather was one of the best fish sandwiches I've ever had. You also need to try out the pub dip! That one is super shareable between two with how fully loaded it was with beef. The frickles were awesome and the batter on them was seasoned PERFECTLY. We sat at the bar but a table is an option if you're willing to wait. There was a short wait for tables both days we had dinner here but if that doesn't tell you how great this place is, I don't know what will. The burgers are also seasoned incredibly!
