    Happy Hours Shrimp Tacos
    Nikky B.

Heads-up: There's a 2.5% credit card processing fee, avoid it by paying cash or using a debit card. Located onsite at the Red Lion Hotel, this spot has pleasant outdoor seating with umbrellas, offering half a view of the bay and pedestrian walkway, and half of the wharf. Breakfast and lunch are served on one side, dinner at The Compass Room on the other. Food quality is typical hotel restaurant fare, nothing remarkable. Daily happy hour runs 4-6 pm. Our server was excellent, especially considering he had four tables and we were the only ones seated outside. What we ordered: -Oyster shooter ($2 HH): Far too large for a shooter, skip it. -Shrimp tacos (2 for $12 HH): No flavor. -Grilled cheese & tomato bisque ($14 HH): Nice crispy sourdough, bisque had a bitter aftertaste. -Fish & chips (regular price): Just okay, fries were stale. We paid cash, forgot to ask for receipt so didn't remember the exact price on 8/11/2025. Free public parking at the wharf across the street, plus free street parking. Clean restrooms with toilet seat covers.

The food was so good!! Waitress said they have a new Chef. We had the parm crusted halibut topped with mango salsa, crab and artichoke dip and steamer clams....the broth, OMG, the broth. Everything was so good from the seasoned vegetables to the bread and side of macaroni and cheese. Coming back for sure!!!

We came in for a late breakfast and were told that we could choose our seat. There is a lovely model sailing vessel in the lobby that my child adored and it created all kinds of excitement and history questions to answer! There were oldies playing over speakers at a pleasant level and the patron noise was minimal, however if the restaurant were full I would expect a decent amount of hum as there are multiple tables available My child and I both ordered an all American breakfast. One regular and one kids sized. The food arrived quickly and the home potatoes were very hot and tasty. The bacon was of decent quality and warm. The scrambled eggs were warm and filling. The wheat toast was just approaching lightly dark. Although dark isn't my first choice, it was still tasty and well buttered. I hadn't realized we had come in a half hour before they closed at 11. (They close for lunch and then they open back up at 4pm for dinner service.) Our late arrival didn't change the level of service we received, which is very admirable. Having worked in restaurant's before, I make it a rule to try not to eat anywhere the last hour they are open. But I am pleasantly surprised when I get good service from the restaurants where I inadvertently break that rule. All and all a good breakfast and my child said: "Let's come eat here again next time we eat downtown." That's the best compliment he gives about eating out.

I was staying at the hotel and ordered pie to go. It took 10 minutes longer than they estimated and I got back to my room and it was frozen

    cheeseburger

The food quality was terrible, everyone's plate was bland, cold, seemed frozen/not fresh. when returning my mac i was offered to have it warmed/not re-made or something else from the menu which i kindly denied. read reviews and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, and regret it. we are from LA so we appreciate food scenes, and eating local. however, we returned the food, asked to pay and leave, the waitress snapped, stating we only wanted free food (that we did not eat because it was horrible so i dont know how that makes sense to her but fine), she made it a scene, and yelled at my stepfather "go back to mexico". please avoid this racist establishment, you're better off at McDonalds.

"Truffle Parmesean Fries" . These are frozen Walmart fries with packaged refrigerated grated parmesean cheese on top. Sub par.

Fried Brussels Sprouts - Fried to perfection. Brussels sprouts are ubiquitous these days, known for…read moretheir hearty health benefits and delicious taste, but this restaurant truly did them right. They were perfectly fried with a crunchy exterior, all heightened by a lovely drizzle of honey. 5/5 Fried Chicken Sandwich - This sandwich was a monstrosity! If I were Sasquatch, I'd still be full after eating this. They practically put two fillets into one sandwich. The breading was flavorful, and the chicken was incredibly juicy and tender. I definitely appreciated the generous portion size. 4/5 Ahi Tuna - Deliciously fresh and simple. The tuna was lightly seared and served sashimi-style with a perfect rare interior. Being so close to the ocean makes you appreciate how fresh seafood can taste, and they deliver that here. It's lightly dressed with soy sauce and citrus to bring out the natural flavor of the fish. 5/5 Service & Atmosphere - The service was great, and we were seated quickly. Our waiter knew the daily specials by heart; he was quick yet succinct in explaining what the restaurant specializes in. I really enjoyed this place!

Not good for big parties. We had 6 adults and 1 child and had to sit in separate booths, but at…read moreleast the booths were next to each other. We were also warned that the kitchen gets "overwhelmed" with big groups, which we appreciated their honesty. Our table decided to order a variety of items and to share. My mom would've loved the schnitzel but when I asked if they could put the spaetzle and sauce on the side, the waiter told me "no, the chef won't do that because it would be visually unappealing." We ordered it anyway and it tasted good but my mom couldn't try it. I think it would've been fine if the spaetzel and sauce were on the side (would've been my preference too) so it would also keep the schnitzel crunchy. But anyway, we also ordered the seared tuna, which was too garlicky for our liking, the shrimp boil, which was very good, and the fried chicken, which was just ok. My sister sitting in the next booth also ordered the brussel sprouts and that was easily the star of the show! This restaurant allows kids but I'm not sure if I would really consider it to be "kid friendly" since they did not offer a kids menu. All-in-all, food was good, service was honest, and we would probably come back.

The hot crab dip was delicious but a bit small. The bread it came with was so seasoned and delicious! The clam chowder wasn't anything special, but it was definitely enough for two. But then we were sat in the enclosed party area with two other tables, and not that it was the restaurant's fault but there were screaming children and the enclosed area just echoed everything. We thought to ask to move, and we should have. So note that if you get sat there. Our server was a sweet girl, took our order after grabbing us drinks and checked in to make sure we had everything. The main issue I had was the taste of the food since some dishes were a bit pricey. Three in our party ordered the fish and chips, that they all said was really bland and nothing special but the fries were crisp and good. My husband and I ordered the grilled Tiger Shrimp entree and the Salmon Fettuccine Alfredo. The shrimp were rubbery and tasted like that had been under the warm lamp for a bit. And I wish they would have side substitutions since the grilled veg was a squash zucchini mix with rice but it all had no flavor. The Salmon Alfredo was kinda the same. Bland and dry fish, but at least a good portion. But the sauce was broken and stringy, needing seasoning as well. My husband and I's ticket with sodas and one cup of pretty good clam chowder came to around $90 before tip. Needless to say we were disappointed with our first seafood experience since traveling from Arizona.
