Checked it out given the hype around the donuts. The everything seasoned donut was unique and worth the trip. The classic chocolate and sprinkles and browned butter donut were good. The donuts were very good but I would not consider them better than other highly rated donut shops, particularly on the east coast. They have many flavors so plenty of variety to try and I will have to see how those compare. Definitely check it out and try it if you're in the area. Fun and friendly service. Great spot for early mornings in sb.

The doughnuts are as beautiful as they are delicious. The POG doughnut made us feel like we were back in Hawaii (we drank a ton of POG lol). I got the horchata latte and my girlfriend got a vanilla latte. Both were very good. We ended up sitting outside on the patio and were able to relax a little while watching the koi fish and turtle swim around the little pond.

GET READY FOR A TRANSCENDENT DONUT EXPERIENCE Just off State Street on Figueroa, you'll find a donut shop that feels more like a craft breakfast kitchen with a serious pastry soul. The owner's love for their craft, staff, and product make for an inviting ambiance you don't find in many establishments in their class. DON'T MISS BREAKFAST Their menu goes far beyond donuts, blending whimsical, flavor-forward pastries with substantial breakfast sandwiches and bowls featuring bacon, turkey sausage, and mouthwatering, fluffy eggs that taste like they've been kissed with something buttery, creamy, and completely unforgettable. PASTRY IS IN THEIR DNA The first sign you're in the right place? Walking past stacks of pastry flour on your way to the donut counter. Nothing says "this is going to be good" like seeing the foundation of the craft right there in front of you. And these are not airy, forgettable donuts. These are brioche-style, flavor-filled, butter-forward creations that deliver exactly what the menu promises. CHOCOLATE CHERRY ALMOND OLD FASHIONED (OH MY) The Chocolate Cherry Almond Old Fashioned is in a class of its own. It surpasses every old fashioned donut I've had, with a light cake base, a low-oil profile, and none of the overly craggy, greasy edges you get from a less thoughtful donut. This is pastry territory. The chocolate and almond are subtle at first, then the cherry arrives with a dramatic full tastebud activation -- sweet, salt, fat, and bitter all working together. The cherry blooms at the back of your mouth like springtime near the Capitol in D.C. or a Japanese cherry blossom landscape. It's where cake and donut collide into something that redefines the experience for kids and kids at heart. SNAP-CRACKLE-POP TREAT WITH AN UPGRADE THAT'S SWEET The Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treat Donut is another five-star execution of both concept and flavor. The Rice Krispies are real -- not decorative. They sit in a marshmallow flow atop a lightly sweet donut that oozes buttery goodness, with just the right touch of salt to elevate the sweetness and add that extra delight on the palate. I'LL BE BACK! Hook & Press is not just making donuts. They're creating edible moments. Santa Barbara is lucky to have them.

Hook & Press is a popular spot on State Street due to their gourmet and artisanal donuts. After grabbing lunch, wifey and I knew we had to stop by and stuff our mouths with some goodness. They have a lot of unique flavors to choose from, but we ended up going with the Peach Cobbler Donut and it did not disappoint!

We've been to Hook & Press Donuts in Santa Barbara twice now, and both experiences were fantastic. Our first visit was for my daughter's birthday with family--everything from the breakfast to the coffee was spot on. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. My second visit really sealed it for me. I had the bacon breakfast biscuit with maple mustard and it was phenomenal--honestly one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. I was there to pick up two dozen donuts for a staff appreciation event, and they were a huge hit. Everyone loved them. Great food, great people, and consistently excellent quality.

I love doughnuts and whoa! These doughnuts are definitely different from anything I've ever had. The texture is thicker and fluffier. I can taste the high quality ingredients in every bite. The only plain doughnuts available were the donut holes. Everything else was a specialty unique creation. With plenty of customers, they are well staffed and organized. I thought the wait would be long, but I was able to place my order in a timely matter. I took my order to go, but there was plenty of seating. I love the high ceilings and chandelier, such cute decor. They even had some merchandise for sale.

Hook and Press is a cute little breakfast/lunch spot in downtown SB. They have really fun donut flavors ranging from chocolate sprinkle which is what we got to one with rice crispy treats on top! Definitely the most unique donuts in the area. The space felt a little crowded, but the service was quick. I would love to go back and try their coffee drinks.

Came here for their soft opening three years ago and am tremendously pleased to see it's just as tasty as then! That everything bagel donut? Chefs kiss. Perfect mix of sweet and savory. Also tried their basic glazed. Soft. Fluffy. Not overly sweet but still nice and sweet. These donuts are a tad more expensive than regular donuts as they are specialty donuts but once you bite into it you'll totally understand why. Will continue to come here for tasty donuts and will always recommend! Service was fast and there were a lot of seating options in which many people were working. Please note we walked here so I cannot comment on parking.

We stopped by this place to grab some donuts and drinks. Pictured with names are all the four donuts we got. My personal favorite was that chocolate berry old fashioned donut, super flavorful. All of the donuts overall were really good, and they keep coming out! I had the strawberry matcha iced latte and my husband had a cappuccino. They were both really really tasty. They had other breakfast items too, among other drinks. It's a nice place to grab something quickly or dine in indoor or outdoor! I definitely recommend giving it a try. We've been twice and both times were very consistent with getting things out quickly. Everyone's also super nice here!

tl;dr the delicious upscale donuts are worth the premium price; the hardest part is settling on just a few flavors Santa Barbara may not have the same rabid donut obsession as Los Angeles, but that hasn't stopped Hook & Press Donuts from being a Central Coast favorite. This bakery-cafe is best known for its rotating lineup of sophisticated, made-from-scratch donut offerings. It has been rated the Best Donut Shop in Santa Barbara by the Santa Barbara Independent's Annual Readers' Poll since 2019, and it's included in Food Network's list of Best Restaurants in Santa Barbara. Hook & Press is located at the tip of an artsy alley just off State St. The off-white walls are decorated with abstract-minimalist murals. Industrial-chic accents include the wide-pane windows, polished concrete floors, and pockets of exposed brick. Load-supporting columns reach up to the soaring slate-toned ceilings. A carefully manicured rainbow of donuts is displayed to the right. To the left, upscale patio furniture separates the kitchen from the coffee bar. Beach-y contemporary tunes echo around the space. My partner and I visited late on a weekend morning, and nearly every table was occupied. The line stretched to the door, but the staff members efficiently whipped through orders. We opted to share two donuts: the Everything Bagel and the Passionfruit Orange Guava. The former masterfully resembled an upscale everything bagel in its savory-salty flavor; the light, buttery donut was an otherwise ambitious twist. The latter paired a tart, unmistakably passionfruit-y frosting with a custardy, pastelito-esque filling. Our bill totalled just under $10, but the flavors were spot-on, and portion sizes felt generous. I can see why Hook & Press is a local favorite, and I definitely would be game to work my way through their donut lineup in the future.

The donuts are okay. The flavours are unique and hit or miss... I really liked some but others were not that great.. I also tried the iced strawberry matcha latte, and it was okay. Nothing amazing. The prices are pretty pricey too for donuts. Each one was from $4.50-$5.50... the service is good. The inside was very spacious and cute. Nice place for studying. They have free wifi.

Cute cute spot! The donuts are soft and tasty. First donut we tried was the vanilla bean sprinkle and it did not taste plain at all. The ricotta scramble tartine was a standout with the fluffy scrambled eggs with ricotta topped with Parmesan and chili salt over toasted bread. Chef's kiss! Coffee is smooth, golden milk latte has great turmeric and ginger flavor. Service is friendly. Patio has umbrellas and an awning for shade and is dog friendly. We also bought a dog donut for our pup and she loved playing with it. She's a picky eater so I wouldn't take her opinion seriously.

Found this place on Instagram. I was super excited to try it. Especially the cream cheese doughnut. Sweet: cute place. Good customer service. They have a good selection of doughnuts all unique flavors. The coffee is really good. The server for my coffee wrong but I ended up not correcting it because it was very good. I ordered the special salted caramel brown sugar but for the salted caramel instead. I wanted to go back to order another coffee. My first bite of the cream cheese everything doughnut I was disappointed. But as I ate it more there was more cream cheese which I enjoyed. Sour: we ordered other doughnuts as well. We were pretty full all day so we didn't get to try the others till the next day. I'm guessing we should have forced ourselves to eat it the same day. The flavors were good. We ordered brown butter, carrot cake and pistachio lemon. By day 3 they were completely bad and very hard. The everything doughnut is not consistent in the amount of cream cheese inside. The one I had next day was not as filled as the first one I had. We ordered some doughnut holes as well and the glazed was melting. If I'm ever back in town I'll go for the coffee for sure and order 1 doughnut so I can have it fresh.

Their communication with me via email was proactive, personal and so helpful. Originally, I'd forgotten to ask for an included note sending birthday wishes and noting who the order was from, and Good Stuff was flexible, helpful and reliable in fixing that oversight of mine. The cookies were "SOOOO delicious" and so many, according to my daughter. Getting anything delivered into the dorms/living spaces around UCSB is often a roll of the dice, but Good Stuff seems to know the turf and how to navigate it. They hand-delivered to my student, and sent me an email right away to confirm that hand off. I'm looking fwd to my next visit to Santa Barbara and stopping in at Good Stuff. The caramel coconuts cookie was recommended by staff as their favorite cookie so obviously I had to get it. What a surprisingly good cookie. Just the perfect amount of caramel and coconut. SCORE 0 HEALTH HAZARD 10…read more This is our third time we've had issues with the staff. Today is our last time going here. There was only one person in line and 4 staff members behind the counter standing around talking to each other. Nobody greeted us or asked for our bakery order. When I said excuse me to a dirty blond girl she replied "WHAT!" and continued to joke with a co worker. When the cashier finished with their customer they walked away and even though they saw we were waiting to be helped. I looked around and saw nobody helping seated customers or us at the bakery counter. Finally, the dirty blonde ask what we need and my response was "WHAT" ?! At this point we should have left and gone to Lilac Patisserie however we proceeded to give her our order. I told another customer behind us that rudeness seems to be the norm, and she agreed. I paid for our bakery items and asked an older woman scrolling on her phone if we could have a bag for all of our boxed treats. She grabbed a handful of bags and threw them at me from across the counter. We were appalled and left. We found a place to sit on State street to eat our treats and my daughter said she didn't want her Meringue because the dirty blonde girl used the back of her ungloved hand to repeatedly wipe her nose. We threw all $50 worth of baked goods in the trash. Yes, I should have gone back and complained I'm had everything refunded but it was Mother's Day and we didn't want anything more to do with this establishment. It was also an epiphany that they don't treat everyone this way. It could be you next time. Please go somewhere else. We will never go to anywhere but Lilac Patisserie which is to the left as you exit Andersons, past the stop light. You will definitely get your money's worth and the staff is friendly, professional, and greet you immediately as you reach the counter.
