My husband and I have been here multiple times and each time we typically order the Commander's platter with Boom Boom sauce (mix of all the other flavors) with Fire spiciness. As scary as it sounds, the Fire is just the right amount of heat in our opinion if you like food on the spicy side. We'll throw in some broccoli, smoked sausage, and order a side of rice to round the meal out. Everything is always seasoned perfectly and there's enough to enjoy leftovers the next day too. We usually do take out from here and love how they always pack it well with extra napkins, gloves, bibs, and even wet wipes. I like the seafood boil here but I LOVE the appetizers and fried food mores even more. Probably my favorite place for onions rings in MN! Highly recommend the fried shrimp basket. Sometimes the quality isn't the best on the seafood boil and the size of the crawfish are too small but the flavors are there. Definitely recommend asking for more sauce/seasoning for your seafood boil. And if you like spicy- the fire or burning hot probably won't be spicy for you but still good flavor. This place was so unique and fun! You order your seafood ( I ordered head on shrimp and clams) and it comes with a mini corn cob and new potatoes. The sauce was amazing! I had garlic sauce. I actually ate all the food and took home the sauce only and made a whole different meal with it at home. Your food comes in a giant steam bag. They put a mini trash can on your table for the plastic bag and shrimp and clam parts. They give you a lobster bib and hand wipes. The service was friendly and efficient. Atmosphere was beautiful. My favorite part of the place is that a flower pathway is made for you while walking to your table. Also the other decor at the front or the door when you enter, like the bar and sitting pirate photo area. Service was amazing. We ordered three po boy sandwiches on New Years Eve (two shrimp and one oyster) and my husband has a severe sesame allergy. Normally seafood has no sesame in it but I figured if I put sesame allergy on the order it would be fine. Well, it wasn't. He had a very bad reaction and had to take three epi pens and we had to call 911. Now sometimes people don't know that things like tahini or mole has sesame in it so maybe that was the problem? Went here to get my first ever seafood boil in a restaurant while my husband was in the cities for a work trip, the experience was good until it wasn't. I only ate 1/4 of my $70 boil, I wasn't very hungry and it was a LOT of food, so I took the rest home so I could eat it for lunch the next day. They took my food in the BACK to package up for me. It wasn't until the next day after I drove an hour away to visit my sister who lives in a neighboring town, when I reheated my food and started EATING it that I realized they gave me somebody ELSES food. Somebody else's food that their hands were in, a half eaten corn on the cob. I mean it's a seafood boil that you suck on the food while eating. Called and complained and demanded a refund or for them to remake it, I was willing to drive back and pick it up but they made me call back 3 times with no answer or solution. My husband went in there and they tried telling him that they could only offer 30% off our next order. We explained we didn't live in the cities and wouldn't be back to their restaurant after this and they only offered him $20 for a refund. Our total bill was over $100. Not to mention, they told us that the persons food that they gave me ALSO called and complained. And from what I could see, the food they gave me was an order over $200 with king crab, scallops, lobster, sausage, allll the works. I'm still upset almost a week later. You can't make this stuff up. If they would've remade it for me or given me a full refund, there would be no review. But this kind of mistake cannot happen when you're serving seafood boils. People dig in them, indulge in the food, slurp on the sauce and suck on the shell fish. I was absolutely disgusted and haven't had an appetite since. Here's a photo of when the food came out because I was so excited to experience this for the first time in a restaurant, I've always made my own at home but where I live you can't get seafood boils like this let alone the good ingredients to make it. $70 for a boil might not seem like a lot of money to some people, but my husband and I do not dine out like this. I think it lacked spice. Ordered online medium was listed as "I like spicy" and next up was fire "my mouth on fire" - I really wanted something spicier than medium but didn't wanna be crying w my mouth on fire. I really loved the amount of sauce we got! It wasn't too much not too little. Fit perfect to the amount of food we ordered. Got a side of calamari and Cajun fries. By the time we got the fries home they needed to be air fried again but they were absolutely delish! My husband and I didn't care for the calamari - also needed to be re-heated and was better w hot sauce. The crab legs broke apart PERFECTLY and got the meat out in one piece every time. LOVED that. Wasn't a ton of meat tho - which seemed odd. The shrimp were good buuuuut 85% of my shrimp pieces wasn't cleaned out.. I had to wash them out after taking the tails off which really threw me off. My wife and I were out and about, and decided to try something new. We were hesitant trying a shrimp boil restaurant, even debating going somewhere else as we sat in the parking area. BOY were we wrong! The ambiance and playful atmosphere were excellent. There was even a video that played on the floor, and tracked your footsteps with red flowers. It was super cool. Looking at the menu wasn't overwhelming, but it made us nervous. The waiter explained all we needed to know, also insisting the 'BOOM BOOM' spice was his favorite, which we did decide to go with. Finally we decided on the Crab and Shrimp boil, for $99. The FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE. Like really incredible. Both my wife and I ate until we were both ready to pop. We left the restaurant excited to come back, and excited we tried them out. We were legit sad we only just now discovered this gem. We opted for the First Mate's Platter seafood boil, including 2 clusters of snow crab legs, 1/2 whole shrimp, 1/2 crawfish, 1/2 mussels, 1/2 clams, 4 Corns on the Cob and 4 potatoes for around $55. It was plenty of food for two people! We placed a pick up order and it was hot and ready in just 10 minutes. They package everything very nicely so that nothing leaks on your drive home, and they provide bibs, gloves, and wet wipes for the delicious mess that will result while eating! I would 1000% recommend "The Boom" sauce! It's a combination of 3 other spices/sauces: original cajun, buttery garlic, and lemon pepper. The sauce is smothered all over the seafood and the flavor seeps deep into the meat. Honestly just give me a cup of The Boom sauce with a straw. Honestly had never seen or heard of this place before, but stopped in for lunch while my car was in tire shop nearby. It's a low country boil kind of place, serving up a variety of seafood boiled in flavorful broth alongside corn and potatoes. Very filling, and very tasty if done right. I used to live in the South and this wasn't an uncommon thing to do for a big gathering since it scales really easily. For $8 I got 1/2lb of clams in their spicy broth, along side a couple red potatoes and a corn cobb. Extremely flavorful, and just a joy to eat with every bite. Usually you might think having everything boiled together in the same flavors would get monotonous, but corn, potato, and seafood all bring such a different flavor and texture to the mix that every element still has a distinct taste. It's not that different from a hot pot or shabu shabu, just with a very distinctive Southern US set of flavors. I wasn't expecting a ton given that from the outside it looks like a strip mall restaurant. Walking inside though the place is huge, clean, and nicely decorated. Unless you really dislike shellfish, definitely give this a try. While they do have a bunch of other items on the menu including more standard fried seafood fare, if you're coming here the star of the show is the cajun boil. read more
