I want to say before anything my review is going to be negative as I chose to leave the restaurant without eating anything. I loved the ambience and the atmosphere my family even decided to get a reservation. When i pronounced I had a shellfish allergy I was told that everything had been cross contaminated and I couldn't eat there. I almost had to leave my family and uber home since the majority of my family can eat shellfish. I am a cook but I am no sushi chef I have done sushi while private cheffing. I do believe that there are certain steps you can take to prevent cross contamination and being able to store things properly in order to prevent contamination. I understand that when at sushi restaurants there's no helping fryers which is completely understandable. There is also a point I'd like to make how there should be some kind of sign outside or when making a reservation to pronounce on their end that they can't accommodate. At the end of the day I'm disappointed, I almost chose to leave my family, and we all ended up walking out without ordering since they can't accommodate to my allergy. I hope they take steps in the future to prevent cross contamination or pronounce they cannot accommodate to certain allergies before making a reservation. read more

First stand out is the server, Wiley! He was such an engaged waiter offering us recommendations about the menu as well as things to do during our stay in Montana the resturant itself was really cute but small which gave it a chill vibe. WOW! I can't say enough about this fabulous little Sushi place in down town Bozeman! We were kinda wandering, finding it hard to find an outside venue (we had our dog) that wasn't full. Boy did we luck out! There was one table available at Hooked so we grabbed it! Immediately a server showed up with waters for everyone (including the dog)! Popular spot, friendly staff and solid sushi. The two of us came on a Fri night just after 6:30PM and it was going to be an hour wait. We decided to stick it out and it ended up being over an hour before being sat. The seating is a little confusing as it's in both their restaurant and in the coffee shop attached. We started with the Sea Salt Edamame ($7) and it was well prepared. Our roll sushi selections were Black & Yellow ($17), Easy Rider ($18) and Sol ($19). We went to Zocalo for coffee and a quick bite. Everything was great. We decided in the evening to head back tor he Japanese spot next door. We didn't realize Zocalo gets converted to the Japanese restaurant as well. Genius! We did t have a reservation but got seated right away. We had their specials, miso soup, 3 additional roles and the kiddo got mochi ice cream. Everything was delicious! The owner for both places were on point, impressed and enjoyed both. We didn't know we would be visiting the same place twice but so impressed by two different worlds being amazing on quality and execution on everything. My fiancé and I have been searching for a great sushi spot in the area and we've found it! We sat at the sushi bar and really enjoyed everything we ordered. Started with the edamame with garlic oil & salt. We ordered 3 special rolls which are in the picture below. We also had a spicy salmon and eel roll. All of the sushi was delicious and very fresh! The service was wonderful as well. The waitress was very friendly and gave us great recommendations on food & drinks. The food came out pretty quick even though they were busy. I was raised in Missoula and live in Southern California, so it almost pains me to say how much better Hooked Sushi was than most of the restaurants we tried in Missoula recently and how much more creative it is than most of So Cal's sushi restaurants. The fish was extremely fresh and our daughter loved her tonkotsu ramen, but the real stars were the speciality rolls. We had some genuinely incredible meals in Montana, but I never imagined that one of the highlights would be a tofu scallion roll (the Dandelion)! Very mixed feelings about this place. The place was rather full but not loud and "packed" we arrived Monday right before 630 and got sat in the "coffee shop" that doubles as extra seating. Pros: 1. Truly appreciate being treated like a person rather than just another customer to get a tip from. On the pricier side to eat here. However, he entire experience is worth every penny you'll spend! Being from California, I had no idea what to expect from Montana sushi. Let me just tell you -- it was some of the freshest sushi my husband and I have ever had. Honestly, it's probably best that I don't live in Bozeman, because I would be at Hooked all the time. My husband ordered their special of the day (can't remember the other roll he got), and I had the Top Gun roll.
