This is my first time to use service from Hoons. Our Odyssey's brake pads need to be replaced and Hoons gave a price quote promptly. They were able to squeeze me in on the day I called. Chang is a very honest guy and I felt very comfortable to deal with him. Because it was a brake service for all 4 wheels, I asked if they could rotate the tires when they took them off. I was referred to Hoon's Auto by a friend who has only good things to say about their service. I had my Honda CRV brought in for tire replacement, balance and alignment. I bought the same tire brand as my old ones and was expecting the tires to be quite noisy on the road. Driving out, I was really surprised that the tires were quiet that I had to stop and take a look if those were the same ones I had ordered. As it turns out, the issue was not the tires but the way they were installed. I did not know I had been driving with tires that were not installed correctly until Hoon's installed these new ones properly. The people at Hoon's know what they are doing and the manager does a QA inspection of all the work done. Definitely coming back! read more

Here I am once again updating a 5 star review for the fifth time. I just cannot help myself because Mr. Chang continues to impress me over and over again! Years ago, I backed into a pole and damaged my bumper and had yet to do anything about the unsightly scratch. Today as I was getting in my car, I didn't really notice the scratch and upon closer inspection I realized someone had painted over it. Now, I can sometimes be a suspicious person and my first thought oddly enough was that someone in my neighborhood must have gotten fed up with looking at the scratch and therefore painted over it. Hahaha...like people are that nice! Then it dawned on me...that Mr. Chang! Turns out someone really IS THAT NICE! I simply took my car in for an oil change on Thursday and while it was there he took the time to paint over the scratch. He didn't even mention it. He just did it out of the goodness of his heart. What a nice human being! And every time I am there Mr. Chang gives me a complete overview of my car and tells me what to keep an eye on and what I should plan for etc. He always treats me and my car like gold. Always a lovely experience! Update: My car had some problems starting one morning so I stopped by Hoons on my way to work. Mr. Chang did a diagnostics test and spent 20 minutes looking at my car and said I might need a new battery before winter but that everything was fine. He gave me some tips on what to do if it has problems starting in the future. He didn't even charge me! Update: Later in the year my car starting having problems with starting again. I had the battery replaced because it was due. The car still had the same issue. Then Mr. Change replaced the ignition switch since it was the next least costly solution. Turns out that was not the issue. My car would no start Wednesday late afternoon. I finally got it started and took it directly to Hoons. Mr. Chang didn't want me to have to go out of my way to get a rental car so he said even though it was late in the day he would see if he could get the part in a jiffy. He really went above and beyond and tracked down the part. I showed up at 5:30 pm (30 minutes before my car would be ready) and lo and behold it was ready to go! Mr. Chang also refunded me for the ignition switch since that was not the actual issue (how nice!). I had a 6:30 pm appointment elsewhere that evening and I was so happy to make it on time. That was an unexpected surprise. You will be hard pressed to find stellar customer service like this anywhere! read more

I had an oil change done at another place that told me I needed tires replaced. Needless to say I was horrified to see that my threads were close to nothing! I was quoted for a price that was a bit too high for me so I decided to wait and shop around because I'm a stickler for deals....and Koons is where I ended up! I called in and the front desk guy was very helpful and professional. He has a very casual calm demeanor about him even while in the waiting room he was like this to everyone even when it was busy. And get this the tires came in the following week (I did have to call to ask if they had arrived yet) but he took me in that day in 10minutes on a Friday! Not many places do that unless they aren't busy but when I arrived, there were already at least 3 customers there but they are quick, efficient and knowledgeable. Let's just say the price they gave me was very good and I lucked out because they had a special on yelp that I was also able to include! I literally got in and out in an hour and this included tire alignments! Very happy to have run into this place, will use them again! read more

My best Mechanic in town , I have been only coming here since last 3 years for my Toyota Corolla repairs after finding this place by chance in yelp. They did brake pad changes, transmission flush, spark plug replacement, sensor replacement, ac compressor replacement. Every time the prices are the lowest, much lower than Toyota dealer, quality of the service is best, knowledge of Mr. Chang is impressive, he is an expert in cars especially Japanese and Korean brands. Sometimes He does not even charge a fee if there is a simple problem to fix. Once i had a strange rattle noise in my car, a low frequency vibration, i thought my transmission was making the noise and would cost me a lot if money to fix it , i was very worried, it could even cost more than the value of car itself but Chang lifted the car, found that the shield plate under hot exhaust pipe ( to protect other nearby pipes from heat ) was broken on one bolt and it was loose, he said replacing the shield piece would be costly labour so he just cut the loose end he said i can use it like this and he did not charge any money for this fix, I was grateful, he is really a very good and honest person. I have been driving cars for more than 40 years and I can clearly say that he is one of the few best mechanics I have ever seen. I am planning to buy a bmw, like to bring it here for maintenance and repairs. I strongly recommend this place, waiting room has free cofee and hot drinks as a bonus. read more

These guys. Just yes. I live just down the street from them, which is already super convenient, but every time I call the owner tells me "yep, just bring it over and we'll take a look." Previously went there for some window issues in my Ford Fusion, which they took care of quickly and efficiently. Today I went there with my Nissan Rogue, which suffered from a flat tire the night before. Had the donut on and expected to be told that they needed to order a new tire. After only about 30-40 mins, the mechanic comes back with the keys and the owner said it was ready to go. They managed to salvage the spare and put it back on the drivers side because I'm pretty sure they also double as magicians. Only charged me $25 for the whole thing. Being a young woman, I've been ripped off many times at various repair stores because of my lack of automobile knowledge. It's not something I, or anyone else, has to worry about here. Seriously check them out, they are worth the drive from the city to do so. read more

They actually showed me where the problems in the car are located plus they warned me of potential future problems of similar cars. I left with a very detailed estimate of the repairs the car would need in case i ended up buying it. It doesn't stop at that, when the work was done and I was about the pay for the inspection, the owner wished me a happy 4th of July and refused to take the money! I have been bringing my cars to Hoons for the last two years. I've had my brakes changed, headlights replaced, oil changed, tires balanced, and sensors on two of my tires changed. All for reasonable prices. Some things may seem a little expensive but it will be far cheaper than going to another shop. The owner is very clear and will explain what is needed. He does not try to sell you other services that you do not need. I moved further away from the shop and will travel 45 minutes because I know I will get great service. Hidden gem amongst auto repair shops! I needed my brakes and calipers done on my car, and was getting quotes from 5-6 shops in the area at a minimum of 1000 dollars! Needless to say, I wasn't going to pay that, so once I read the amazing review about Hoons I had to at least call them. They offered me a great price, were very nice and honest about what I needed and didn't need, and even helped me out with the price (without me asking!) I went to Hoon's for noise my car was making when going above 60mph. Dropped it off late Sat, and got a call early Monday with the diagnosis and quote. I got all 4 tires and 4 brake pads changed for a very competitive price. Dealer would've charged a grand just for the break pads but Hoon provided the service for $440 and threw in a free much needed oil change without even asking! I've been coming here exclusively since my first visit and original review 2 years ago. Hoon's is still very fair and honest. They're very accommoding to customers who wish wait and they've never turned me away even when they're busy. My wife had her car's water pump replaced there too. There was some extra difficulties with her particular model, but Hoon's only charged her for about half of the time they had to spend replacing it. It would have been a lot more expensive somewhere else, and they were able to finish it the same day. read more

So I got a response from the owner as you guys can probably see about how the technicians "never saw" a wood piece from the car and claimed that they saved us "thousands of dollars" as well as how I "blamed" them in front of "many customers". Number 1: there were only two customers in the office at the moment (so you can see that lying is a pattern here). Number 2: if any of you had something broken in your car right after taking it into an auto shop, would you have assumed it was the people working on your car and been just as upset? This man is basically telling me that I am not allowed to be upset because he did me a favor by saving "thousands" of dollars (the estimate at the other shop was close to 1000) even though our car came back to us with something broken on the inside. Our car has been with us for a long time and we have never had any issues. We brought it to this place once and it comes back with the original wood panel, broken and cracked. There is no reason why anyone take that much time out of their life to bring a car back to a shop for a broken wood panel if they didn't truly believe the auto shop was responsible. I only wrote the review to let people know what I experienced. Whether people chose to go here or not is up to them. read more

We've been going to Hoon's for 2 years, for my Honda Odyssey and my husband's Mini. They are great -- fast, trustworthy, good about explaining what does and doesn't need doing, and well-priced. The Mini dealer wanted to charge my husband $75 to change a headlight bulb; Hoon's did it for $10. The owner is not chatty or charming; English isn't his first language -- but he cares about fixing cars properly and not overcharging. The waiting room is small, with Wifi, water, and coffee. Called on Saturday to get a quick quote for new brake pads and rotors after visiting the Honda dealership, the service tech provided me with a very reasonable quote for the work. It was about an hour and a half before they closed that day, so I told the tech I would bring my vehicle in on Monday at 8:00am when they opened. Arrived at 8:00am was out by 9:15am, they had a waiting area so I waited for the work to be completed. I was charged the quoted rate and I was very very pleased with the service I received and their level of knowledge and expertise. I will definitely be a return customer since they specialize in Honda vehicles. I think I just found my new mechanic. read more

I've been coming here for a couple of years. They are always pleasant, helpful, straightforward, efficient, and not too expensive. Last time I took my car in for service, they noticed I needed new windshield wipers (although I forgot to mention it), so they just put them on and didn't charge me. When my service was going to go past their normal closing time, they stayed late to finish it, rather than making me come back another time. I crunched my bumper and took it over unannounced to see if they could do something about it. They spent about 30 minutes molding it back out, even though they don't do body work, and didn't charge me. I trust them and enjoy dealing with them. I needed an opinion on my car's transmission and saw the good reviews about Hoons Auto Service and took it over and they drove it and checked it and gave me the (not good) news about my transmission. Now I have not had any work done on my car with Hoons but I was impressed and appreciative that they took the time to check my car. This is an extremely honest, timely and reasonably priced auto shop. Hosung is a pleasure. About seven years ago, I needed a new radiator. The price from the Lexus dealership, where I had been having my car serviced for years, was very high. I found Hoons through a Google search and took my car in. Hosung priced the radiator replacement about 30% less than the dealership, but noted that the radiator had been recalled some years earlier and the dealership should have replaced it under the recall. Hosung printed off the recall notice and told me to go back to the dealership. Needless to say, I got a free radiator, but Hoons lost out on a $600 plus job because Hosung is very honest. Hopefully, I have made it up to Hosung by being a very loyal customer for the last seven years. All the servicing on our Lexus, Camry and Acura cars is about 30% less than the dealerships. Hosung has very good advice about brands of cars to purchase, which years and models are problems and winners, and where to go if you need body work. If you have a lot of repairs, he will help you prioritize. Hoons is reliable and finishes your car within the time estimate. I feel blessed that my wife has found them - and from now on, Hoon's is the only auto-shop we'll ever take our car to. The entire staff are honest, fast-workers, and reliable. Hoon's provides great customer service. It's our car's first time in the shop but it's safe to say that this certainly won't be it's last. All the tech's were knowledgeable and the owner is always available to answer any questions one may have. Also very patient and will tell you when something is not needed. They serviced our VW EOS 2008 (102k miles) - and we are very happy that they did.
