Best ever! I went here for a tire pressure indicator problem that wasn't solved by another autoshop. You know, female driver like me usually get overcharged because I don't know much about cars. The staff here is really professional and honest. I thought that my indicator might be problematic and got quoted around 200$ for that, however, it turns out that mechanic didn't know what he was doing. Hoons told me all they need to do was to reprogram it after fixing the pressure. He didn't charge me anything. I am so grateful to their honesty. Will definitely come back for maintenance. read more

I was heading South on I-270 when suddenly near Rockville, I felt my car started to wobble. I stopped and saw a nail was in one of the tires. I checked on Yelp for close by, highly rated auto repair shops. Hoons was on top so decided to drag the car to the shop. The owner was very helpful and asked his mechanic to look at the car at once. The time it took me to have a coffee in the office, the nail was out; replaced by a plug and only $20. Very happy with the service. Will come again! read more

I had a originally went to Premier Motors because I was having issues with my brakes and they informed me that my back brakes would need to be replaced for $500. Before spending that much money, I definitely needed a second opinion, so I went to Hoons. I did not tell him anything about what I found out at Premier Motors but they told me that my back brakes do need replacing but it would only cost me $250. also, they would be replacing my old brakes with Honda brakes--so i knew i wasn't paying cheaper just based on the quality of the brakes. The man even took me to the back and showed me my old brakes and the new brakes. He also pointed out that my shock absorber has been damaged and was very honest about whether i needed to repair it or not. Hoons Auto is seriously the only auto shop that I trust. So much so that I drive all the way from Fairfax, VA now to get work done at Hoon's because I trust him that much. He is always honest with prices and with what work you really need to get done and what items you can wait on. He doesn't overcharge on labor and always tries to get you the best price possible...seriously. When I had to replace tires a few years ago, he recommended that I even order from TireRack.com because he knew the prices were better. So, I bought the tires and had them shipped to Hoon's and he installed them for me. I was able to save a ton on the price of the tires! He is great with Japanese cars and is super knowledgeable. Very patient and willing to explain everything to you. I never feel like he is hiding anything (even though I often feel patronized being a woman at other auto shops). I also think he has a secret photographic memory because whenever I call, he knows exactly who I am (by voice alone) and which car. It's crazy how much he remembers! Also, I love his small waiting room. They have lots of magazines, candy, and Keurig cups for coffee and tea. I even met a woman there today who said that because she doesn't have any family nearby or anyone to pick her up when she drops her car off, they usually just give her a ride to her house since she lives so close by. Efficient, fair, reliable, reasonably priced, trustworthy. I went to Hoon's because of the high rating on Yelp and I have been consistently impressed. I have had 3 major repairs done at Hoon's and each was a positive experience. I feel so vulnerable to dishonest repairmen when it comes to car repair, even though I know enough to pushback on unnecessary repairs, but my dealings with Mr. Hoon have made it clear he is totally trustworthy. He has steered me away from repairs that other shops recommended - one place wanted to charge me $1300 to replace my steering column for a pin-hole leak. Mr. Hoon's team charged me nothing to replace some c-clamps on the hose that was the real cause of the leak. read more

I damaged my car and had to take it in to get repaired and this place had great reviews so I wanted to check them out. They were able to fix my car quickly for a fair price, however they left dirt and grease all over the driver seat and passenger seat. Also, there was grease all around the drivers side of the car. They somehow managed to get dirt and grime on the inside of the two front doors as well, even over the speakers which is going to be a delight to clean. I'm not sure why they thought it was acceptable to get your car totally dirty and not clean it. read more

Although I don't always write reviews for auto repair shops, Ho (or I prefer to call him Hoon) and his mechanic team deserve a five star from me. We have brought our 2000 Ford Focus to his shop on multiple occasions (luckily our car is a low mileage one) to replace worn parts due to its old age. For instance, we brought our car in to have the rear brakes replaced two weeks ago. We also asked him to install the front grill (it's broken anyway) and to loose out the coolant reservoir cap because we could not open it. Maybe we asked too much of him, but he didn't say anything and told us to leave the key on the table. Few minutes later, Hoon came back and took the replacement part. After 5-10 minutes, he informed us that both of the rear brakes needed to be replaced. He then led us into the garage (not many shops can do that) and showed the rear wheel cylinders were leaking awfully as if they were melted by some types of acid. We came back to the office, and he printed out the estimates for the brake works including replace rear brake shoes & resurface drums, replace both wheel cylinders, and brake fluid flush. The total cost was around $500. I was in a bit shock at first because it was expensive. However, I took a look at the estimates closely and broke down each job. I found that the cost was reasonable (maybe cheaper than my local area) for all of the works. So, I asked my dad about this, and he agreed. Also, it took us 2 hours to fix the rear brakes. In the mean time, I had a chance to look around his office. It's small and has a coffee machine, some newspapers in Korea and English on the table and nothing much. On the wall were the technical bulletins and airbag recalls for Japanese cars (if you don't know about it, just ask him). Around 5:20 p.m., our car was ready to go. We drove the car to head back our home, and the annoying grinding noise was gone. To me, establishing trust with an auto repair shop is very important because it shows me how much they care about my car. I don't like being ripped off by unnecessary services, so I believe that I have found a trusted place like Hoon's Auto Service to take care of my car for many years to come. read more

If I'm having an issue and need to order parts, they'll give me an honest answer on whether ordering them myself would be cheaper than if they ordered them (e.g., wheels) and just brought them by to install. I have an old Chevy van which I used very rarely and parked on the street that creaked all over the place and was so bad that I had to take it to Hoons expecting a hefty bill. After checking the van I was told to drive it regularly to take the rust off the rotors and after he saw the van had new brake pads. Genuine and honest advice and very rare to find these days. This place is amazing! I needed a faulty oxygen sensor replaced and everywhere else I called quoted me over $300. Hoons quoted me $190 (parts & labor) and was open on Christmas Eve, when I was off from work and had time to bring my car in. They took care of everything in less than a couple of hours and I was totally comfortable waiting for my car in their clean waiting area that is stocked with free water/coffee/candy for customers. I have some sort of strange amnesia when it comes to service done on my car, so I don't remember my first visit to Hoons. I remember I was happy enough with it that I returned today though--the lights behind my dash had been out for a while, and then yesterday I found out my taillights were out too. When I got to Hoons, it was crowded, but a mechanic (one day I'll remember to check name tags and commit names to memory) went out to check on my car, came back in and told me that a fuse had blown and he had fixed it, and he charged me nothing! I'm incredibly ignorant about cars, and the car I'm driving has around 165,000 miles on it, so I was envisioning hundreds or even more than a thousand dollars worth of service needed...but it wasn't only the not charging me--it was the courtesy, fast service at a time when the shop was clearly extremely busy, and the integrity in not charging me a lot when he, and Hoons, could have. Between last visit and this one, I'm as happy with Hoons as I've been with any auto service company. Ever. I'll update this review the next time I'm there. read more

highly recommend. I searched yelp and found Hoons auto service. I sent a quote to the owner and quickly got response. the price for change my brake system is very nice and reasonable. I just waited less than three hours to have both front brake hoses and clibers replaced, the brake fluid flushed and engine light diagnosed, thermostat fixed. they did really good job. when I came to my car, they helped restore my dented front bumper, free of charge and not even mention it. I went here for the first time about 10 days ago after a number of lights came on in my car (Honda). I called ahead and they told me to bring it in day of and it was finished only a few hours later. They were honest with me and explained in detail the problems with my car, calling me when they found an additional problem to verify the repair. My rear brake light went out and I called them today and they said bring it in - they fixed it in 10 minutes for no charge. I truly appreciate the excellent customer service, quality of repair, efficiency of repair, and honesty.
