I've eaten at a lot of Hooters over the years from the Carolinas down to Florida. Generally decent Bar Food with an emphasis on Atmosphere. Started out decent but has declined over the years and a lot of the ones in this area have closed. Had a Boss over in Concord who loved Hooters and we went there for lunch a number of times. Usually ordered Wings or Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. Both were overcooked and very dry. Have not been to one since the pandemic in 2021. That was until yesterday. Curiosity mainly but since I was in Hickory, decided to give this one a try. Very pleasantly surprised. Place was spotless and the two waitstaff ladies were exceptional. Order the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich (Hot and Spicy) and it was exactly that. Side or Curly Fries which the Corgi in the car helped me to eat, Portion since was huge. Absolutely horrendous service. First it was the server who didn't ask us for our drink after 20mins of sitting there. The waitress was new so we were patient but when we brought to her attention that our order was messed up she tried to fix it but still messed that up(we even refused to eat one of the dishes and ate elsewhere). Also she kept disappearing into the kitchen as we were waiting for the check. We had to track her down and ask for it directly. I was traveling home and had never been to this particular Hooters before. My experience here was a really good one. My burger was really good and came out in a timely manner. The scene inside the place was cool and I liked the decor. My server was amazing and she pulled off a really cool hand stand walk while in the building. Fast and friendly service overall! read more

This location has steadily gone downhill for some time, but I wanted to give it one more try. First, the ridiculously loud noise from the kitchen staff that continued to come from the kitchen drowned out any conversation, making the experience pretty bad from the start. I'm all about having a good time at work, but it needs to stop when it becomes a huge distraction for the customers. Discussing one of the waitresses having to use the toilet in detail because she ate too much fiber was totally uncalled for and unappreciated. Secondly, the girl bartending that day needs a serious attitude adjustment when dealing with customers. She doesn't treat the customers nearly as nicely as she does the kitchen staff. I think the dining experience would be much better. I realize that it's hard to get good employees today, and these definitely aren't them. And, then, when I went to the bathroom to wash my hands on the way out, I found hair all over the sink. I shudder to imagine what was being washed in that sink. Just check out the attached photo. Went with a group of 9 on 9/10/24 and mid-meal we saw MULTIPLE cockroaches. We then told the waitress and the manager only offered us $20 off the entire table combined, so a little over $2.20 a person. We had also been told the only way we could get any money off was if the whole table was combined on one ticket. The manager didn't even come over to the table and talk to us. This is not really a Hooters. Just paid to use name. I'm from Clearwater, Florida area where Hooters originated and unfortunately, you can't get the real thing unless you eat in Florida. I believe original Hooters sold out to Hooters USA and you can open a Hooters anywhere and do what you want. This place has TERRIBLE WINGS. Nothing like a real Hooters in Florida. Yuck, yuck yuck. This location did decline in overall quality and service in the past. We visited it on 07/31/2021. It has really been turned around. The place is clean. They girls were busting their tales and taking care of the customers. I met with the manager and let him know that his store is doing great. Our server, Hope, was one the sweetest Hooters girls I have ever had wait on us and will ask for her when we return. The food was very good too, so this too has improved. I recommend giving this location another try if you have had a bad experience in the past. read more

This is not your typical Hooters. Very retro and the building is nothing like the others. The food however is exactly as you would expect. The wings were delicious! The service was a bit slow but that is only because they are short staffed. That is not their fault, that falls back on our wonderful government who thrives on giving out handouts. read more

I decided to scope out a couple of locations for places to perch a few times during the upcoming football season. Hooters of Hickory struck out in all of about 20 minutes. No Michelob Ultra on draft. STRIKE ONE. (If you are a beer snob who derides Mich Ultra, please don't give me grief. You drink what you like and I'll drink what I like). I sat at the bar and hadn't been there more than a few moments when I realized the cooler was making a horrific rattling noise. It sounded like an engine that threw a rod. Ok, I'm exaggerating. To be sure, the bartender was nice, but these servers are trained that a new customer today could be a future regular, so treat them with extra kindness. Yet she was more interested in bantering with other regulars. This is not a strike because I'm actually fine with it, but she is not doing much to help herself. I overheard her ask the regulars about the sound from the cooler. They didn't seem terribly bothered by it, but indicated that it sounded bad. She yelled to some slovenly dressed coworker "why does the cooler make this noise?" He was very flippant about the whole thing and sarcastically said "because it's a cooler and that's the noise they make." Sir, that is not the noise a cooler makes. I was very disappointed to say the very least. Me, My fiancé, and my brother decided to stop by cause we wanted some wings. I'm going to tell you now, our waitress paid no attention to us whatsoever. She came, introduced herself, took our order, and walked away. It took 30 mins for our food to finally come out. She brought it out and left. The entire meal she didn't come back to check on us or refill our drinks. After we got done eating, we sat at the table and waited... and waited... and waited... and when I could finally make eye contact with her I waved her over. I asked her for our check. We paid and when she gave us our change I guess she decided to keep a dollar and some change. I didn't say anything, I just left, I guess that was her tip. Anyways, the food didn't make up for it either. The wings were so hard and barely had any sauce on it. The fries tasted stale and hard. It seem like the fries was left out and just reheated. I'm just disgusted by how this place is ran. The cooks in the back were purposely being rowdy and loud. They were yelling out the order so loud while laughing and joking. I've only been here, maybe, 3-4 times, including today (29 April 2020) and I have never been impressed. And even though they are now limited to take out for now, the food was much better than what I expected. I only ordered wings, half hot and the other half three mile island. Mom is not a sports person and most sports terminology and theory is lost on her. Mom is however a Tennessee Titans fan (she's originally from TN) and occasionally meets up with some of her friends to catch the game here. Somehow Mom is actually at the top of her weekly football pool. This is how I ended up spending last Sunday afternoon at Hooters. I haven't been in a Hooters in probably 18 years when at that time I was standing in a mall in St. Louis, we heard the roar of roller skate wheels above, my 2 male friends heads snapped up, and that ended all discussion about where we were going to go to have dinner. This Hooters seemed more "chain restaurant" meets "sort of neighborhood bar". While all pleasant, friendly and attractive - and I'm certainly not a connoisseur nor the target audience - the Hooter girls here seemed less "hooterish" than I seem to recall of my experience back in the 90s. Anyways - moving on to what I was the audience for..... TONS OF TVs HERE TO WATCH THE GAME. Games were playing on several TVs too so fans of one team didn't have to cluster around only one screen. Apparently if you come semi-regularly you can even reserve the screen you want to catch your game on as Mom's friends already had their usual table scoped out. Our very attentive waitress Aerial was nice enough to put the Patriots game on the next screen over so I wasn't bored watching the Titans get pasted by the Jets. Most everyone in the place was watching one game or another, though it appeared a few just stopped in for lunch. And its an ok spot to bring kids (though not really a kid restaurant) as evidenced by a few of the tables around us. A nice big parking lot and even some dedicated motorcycle parking. As good as the game watching experience is, the food was a little hit and miss even for chain bar food. Hooterstizer Combo (fried pickles, onion rings and mozzarella cheese sticks - with dipping sauce) - Perfect game food. All good and none greasy. Was glad mom didn't really care for the dipping sauce for the rings as it was good, and Aerial's suggest to dip in it and then the ranch was spot on for tasty goodness. Lots of Tots - Basically, tater tots in place of the potato skins in a "loaded skins" dish. I actually preferred this to tater skins. Tots were good and crispy, fresh crisp scallions, and bacon was plentiful and tasty (Mmmm real bacon makes anything better). Next time I'd probably pass on either the cheez whiz topping or sour cream as the combination of the two was not very good. BBQ Chicken wings (naked, no batter) - 5 completely anemic chicken wings tossed in BBQ sauce. Seriously, I thought I'd just been served frogs legs or something - no wait, I think frogs legs might have more meat on them. Wings here seem really hit or miss. The guy beside me got 5 really plump wings; the group across from me got 20 wings just like mine. Chicken Strip Sandwich - Chicken tenders dipped in your choice of wing sauce (in this case BBQ) then covered in cheese and placed on a bun, served with curly fries and a pickle. This was mom's lunch, but after my experience with the anemic chicken wings, she was nice enough to share. Tenders were excellent (I chose one without much cheese) and this dish really doesn't need the bread. But the ciabatta roll its served on is pretty good and I enjoyed munching on it on its own. All-in-all it was a good afternoon (if a bit smoky - this is after all a restaurant/bar in NC). I will say at the end I was probably much happier than Mom: Jets 24 / Titans 17 Patriots 26 / Falcons 10 (GO PATS!) read more

Being a middle aged old fashion girl I have never dined at Hooters...yeah I know I shouldn't judge the half naked girls but hey...it is what it is! This past Friday the hubs was meeting some friends from out of town and they chose Hooters so he brought me a burger and onion rings home. Let me tell you...I HAVE BEEN MISSING OUT! I had a BYOB beef on a Brioche bun with Swiss n sautéed mushrooms and onions. Y'all, that was the best burger I've ever had...EVER! I love burgers and I'm a picky eater too. It was cooked to perfection generously topped with my choice of toppings and was hot and fresh when hubs carried it in the door. Arrived at 11 a.m. for lunch. Was greeted with a loud "welcome to Hooters" from several of the girls. I was promptly greeted and my Hooters Girl was pleasant and efficient. Worst meal I've had in a long time. Ordered wings with mild sauce and fries. The wings had absolutely no sauce whatsoever. Had to use a dipping sauce from cookout. Fries were absolutely ridiculous. Biting into the fries sounded like eating hard peppermint candies. Fries with the rest of everyone's order with us were also the same way, almost inedible. The absolute rudest server EVER. We arrived in Hickory from FL to look at furniture. We came in at 10:15 and they reluctantly seated us. Upon slapping down menus, she slammed down our drinks. They made us feel sooooo uncomfortable. I believe our servers name was Brittany and her manager was there. He wanted us gone as well. There was very loud, heavy metal music blasting from the kitchen. Our children were with us. They also were extremely uncomfortable with how they were treating us. We have eaten at many Hooters over the years. Stopped here to split our drive to Maggie valley in half and couldn't have been more pleased. What a sad representation of the Hooters chain! I grew up in Tampa and have grown up loving hooters food. This location is a joke. I've been there three times, always hoping that the horrible service was an anomaly. It isn't. During my last trip I had to listen to the bartender, who was horrible at her job, sit in front of me at the bar and complain about her job for five minutes! The place was dead and I had to ask about my food multiple times. Don't waste your time in this poorly run dump!
