This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a Hooters. The food was fine but the service was horrid. First walked in and not one person was on the floor, no waitress or hostess or even bartender. Once seated I still had to wait awhile for a waitress. She then did less than the minimal. Brought menu, took beer order, took food order, brought check. Never came to check if I wanted another beer, never asked how anything was. Nothing. The staff kept disappearing to the back room. I went Solo for the first time to Hooters in Johnson City, TN at 2pm in the afternoon on a weekday. The restaurant was not crowded but was fully staffed. I ordered a cheeseburger, French fries and a Coke. It was an outstanding burger and fries. Hot, fresh and delicious. Service was excellent. I was eating alone while reading and several servers came over to check on me and keep me company. Not intrusive or annoying just friendly and welcoming. Sometimes it can be awkward to dine alone in a restaurant but this was a very comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable experience and the food was great! They have a huge bar and there were some day drinkers there. Everyone was happy and upbeat. I will definitely go back. Great food, service and atmosphere. I've lived in the Tri-Cities for 50 years and this was the BEST cheeseburger and French fries I've ever had. Huh?! What?! Yep, that's right! Hooters has the best burger and fries in my opinion! I was gonna give a negative review because it took forever to get seated and the store was 2/3rds empty, but, we set at the bar and said screw it, even though we had a 4 year old! We lost our Hooters in WV a few years back and our lives have sucked since. On our way back from Pigeon Forge we added a stop at the closest Hooters and this was it! We're way to please because our guts are nostalgic for Hooters! Once we sat at the bar we got a new bar tender and things got better minute by minute! Buffalo Shrimp, Wings Naked Hot, sliders and a couple salads and now I'm ticked like a midge with a feather in his ass. It was great and the service was good. Stopped in on Valentine's Day. Must have been a dress up night as all the girls were in bikinis. The problem was the bar. Way too small. No seats available at the bar and as a guy traveling thru on business I didn't want to sit alone at a table. Moved on to another bar elsewhere. Me and one other person arrived late and the waitress didn't come get our drink orders until she brought the food out (forgot someone else's meal) for the others. She continuously forgot about drinks and condiments. She then told the table behind us "I have two other tables sorry if I'm not with you a lot." She must've been New bc if you are flustered with only 3 tables..... you can say it when you have 8 tables. The restaurant was clean and was pretty empty and wasn't loud so that's a good thing. Good ole Hooters! I don't typically care for their food but once in a while I do get surprised and find myself really enjoying something on their menu. As a franchise I find it interesting that the food isn't consistent. I don't mean by just the difference in how a dish is made or how it's presented. I mean by what's served can be different from the actual description of the dish on the menu. Luckily I'm super open minded so in a way it works out for me. Not a complaint by any means, just surprised for a restaurant chain that's been doing it for as long as they have, there are inconsistency. Their bar service is always on point though, and that's why I go here. When I set foot into a Hooters I know the beer is more important than the food haha! Oh!!! And if it isn't for the awesome girls who work there, they would be a 3 star. Or actually a 3+. Or 3.7/8ish (meaning that 3 is more towards a 4). Because of their work force, it's more like a 4.6. Well, depending on the girl. Sometimes it's a 4.1. And there's 2 girls off the top of my head that has such amazing service that they are a perfect 5. But most are 4.4 so that's how I came up with the 4.6. Luckily Yelp doesn't allow us to rate in halves, because if they did then my whole explanation just now would have had a complete re-analysis and the outcome would have been even more difficult. If you are not a regular this place is not for you. 4 girls fawning over 1 guy at the bar. To go orders sitting there not getting picked up as customers wait for them. No pre bussing of tables. This Hooters a few years ago would have gotten an easy 4 stars. Unfortunately as with many Hooters this one is very long in the tooth. It is in dire need of a makeover -- probably allot to do with tight management looking to continue to milk this property for profit but it is not working for them. The quality of the staff is not near what is was with a few exceptions. Danielle I am pretty sure is the longest time employee here and she is a stellar server and goes all out to make sure you are happy. The kitchen on the other hand no longer produces food on par with the pictures that they have posted. They have updated the menu somewhat but really nothing to exciting. Wednesday are still the most popular with all you can eat wings and that is a great deal. Happy hour specials are really not that great a deal with the exception of Monday night football but I think there are much better places to watch the game and get better food. The lunch specials are still a pretty good deal and I think the food quality has been better at lunch most times for me. The outdoor setting is really nice when the weather is great. Service can be oneven out on the deck but that is true for just about anywhere unless you get a good server which is in short supply. Hopefully management will overhaul this place and make it good again. read more

This time with group of 6 (2 newbees )waitress was obviously new very in experienced orde 2 pitchers of beer and 50 wings received beer promptly but wait 1 1/2 hrs for cold wings in lean time order 2 more pitchers of beer wait 45 minutes ask server several times about beer (and wings ) she replied O you didn't receive them yet !! Finally received cold wings canceled beer and ask for box bill and water !25 minutes the waitress comes back and says talked to manager he took 2nd pitcher of beer off bill ?? Typically every time I come here: The service is decent. The food is fantastic. It stays busy, and there's a good atmosphere. Plus some killer tunes can come on at times. Hooters has become my go-to wing place, and I never thought I'd say that. Tonight, however, what I listed was nowhere in the slightest compared to a usual visit. My food looked hot and fresh, but was cold. Still good. Waitress was somewhat attentive, but was more occupied in chatting with her coworkers. It was absolutely dead, and there was this kinda unsettling and quiet atmosphere that's reminiscent of ambient music that just isn't all there and was produced rather poorly. I love it here! I'm only giving it 4 stars because I feel like the restaurant doesn't advertise its lunch special well and I always feel confused and never know what is what. Each time I come here, the waitresses are always friendly. They even go out their way to ask my friends and I how we're doing and what's going on in our lives with school, etc. I feel a great sense of southern hospitality here! First of all, My Girlfriend, Daughter and I came here on a whim. Upon entry we were greeted somewhat nicely by two young ladies at the door. My girlfriend promptly requested a high-chair for the little one and shortly after we were seated a another young lady came to us and stated "I don't think we have any high-chairs available, is that alright?" I then retorted to her that is was not alright and we need one now, (I really think she just didn't want to carry one over to our table) and then "magically" she brought over a high-chair. So, so far I was not impressed at all with the attitude of these barely dressed ladies and was expecting more disappointments to follow UNTIL our Waitress Danielle showed up. She was very,very pleasant and attentive the entire time and took care of all of us like we were the only ones in the establishment. Keep in mind it was a Wednesday and it was PACKED! We go the all-you-can-eat Wings and the four plates worth came quickly and were fresh each time. We never needed to wait for a topping-off of our drinks as Danielle was there on time every time. The wings were hot and our drinks stayed cold. I am glad that Danielle was our Waitress and I hope that she gets to read this review some-how-some-way. She truly turned a so-so meal in to a very good one due to her smile,attentiveness and needless to say...she looked damn good in her "uniform" too and is probably the oldest waitress there. My friend and I went to hooters just to have a few beers, and when I got there the bartender asked for my id. There is a small indentation in the middle of my license so she asked if she could show her manager.(mind you I'm 45 yrs old and have grey hair on my head and my beard) so I said I would rather the manager come to the bar because I didn't want anyone taking my id to the back. So the manager comes and asks to see my id, I told him I'd rather not have him touch it , but I will hold it up to where he can see it. I proceeded to do so and I even showed him both sides. He says "where's your mask" I politely said "it's in my car, do I need one here at the bar" he says "no" . You can clearly see both the date of birth , and the expiration date as well. So basically he refused me and my friends service because I wouldn't hand him my id. We left with no problem, but he shouted at us in a sarcastic manner as we were leaving, "go somewhere else". i Was so polite to him and the bartender and never even said anything except that we are going to a different restaurant. Originally told us it would be an hour wait when we arrived at around 9pm. We understood it would be busy and agreed to wait. At 10pm we still hadn't been called so we went in to see how long it would be and were told 25-30 minutes which we agreed again to wait. At 10:45pm we went back inside again. They then said they still couldn't seat us and that they now did not know how much longer it would be. Ate here for the first time with my fiancé on a trip over the weekend. We went on a Friday and then liked it so much we decided to go back that Sunday before heading back home to Ohio. We were sat both times immediately despite how busy they were. Both of our waitresses were super nice and very attentive. We had Bailey on Friday and Kae on Sunday. Kae was so friendly despite taking serious abuse from a table of older gentleman next to us. Food was amazing both nights. Beer cheese and pretzels was probably the best but wings were delicious too. Food came out hot and pretty quickly both times. The only complaint I have is how close the tables are to each other. It was a bit crowded. I have been to hooters in Canada down to flordia and everywhere inbetween and have never been treated the way Johnsoncity hooters treats paying customers. Service is horrible. We had a party of around 12 and after we sit down and ordered drinks, and a few appetizers.
