Highly recommend anyone that has experienced issues with the dealer not honoring the advertised price, file a complaint with the FTC, state attorneys general office, and SCDCA for violations of Truth in Advertising laws. Do not recommend purchasing from this location with their advertised price not being represented correctly on their listings, with "dealer installed items" being added to the price of the vehicle but not outlined on the purchase agreement. Bought a "new" old stock 2023 Grand Cherokee L in January. Unable to take delivery of it that same day due to a battery tester being down and would have to come back Monday to pick it up. I was not able to go pick the vehicle up with my wife, but she called me on the way home and told me something didn't feel right with the vehicle. It has been nothing but issues ever since we took delivery of the vehicle, it has now been out of service 45+ days. We could tell right away this vehicle was plagued with issues and asked them to take the vehicle back and give us back our perfectly good Mazda that had 0 issues. Of course they declined, and wouldn't you know it, look what they advertise: the advantage plan. THE WORST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE EVER! My wife and I drove through the pouring rain to check out a Lexus RX350. We were met by Quinten, a salesman who had less than a month experience. We generally liked the car, but the price was much higher than similar year/mileage cars. We asked if we could meet with his sales manager, who was sitting less than 25 feet away. Nobody else was in the showroom, but the sales manager, Quintin, did not budge from his seat for almost a half hour. When he sat down he didn't greet us with a smile or a handshake. He seemed unhappy and would not even make eye contact. Just an awkward scene. We told him that we liked the car, but the price was a little high. After waiting for what felt like eternity, the sales guy came back (25 ft!) with a final offer that was $200 less. Then we heard about all of the other non-negotiable JUNK FEES (doc prep, processing, tint fees, etc.) that added another $2k to the price. The sales manager just sat at his desk, half asleep, not doing anything. We asked if we could talk to him (he could clearly hear us), but were told he was busy, despite literally nobody being in the dealership. Very shoddy business practices and a staff that could care less about their customers. Ended up speaking to Lee Hoover a couple days after the fact and he did not seem to care whatsoever. Caution to any potential buyers or customers of this specific Moncks Corner location. I highly question this location's quality control/quality checks on their vehicles being offered for purchase or repaired and brought this concern to the attention at their Corporate level. My experience with this dealership had me go through things like: being presented multiple vehicles not detailed/serviced even though being told that all has been completed and checked, Service Dept dismissing a concern of low coolant levels that ultimately required a head gasket replacement, falsely advertised mileage of a potential tradeout vehicle, but the most concerning situation that my family and I had to experience was having to safely maneuver my vehicle that unexpectedly had it's the windshield and side windows completely fog up and engine shut down while going highway speeds down the Don Holt bridge and then following up with the scare of a possible engine fire, both due to a fuel line not being secured by their Service Dept (Service Dept Manger later admitted and confirmed over phone call that the fuel line was not properly secured after original head gasket repair!). Definitely recommend going to the Summerville location instead of this Moncks Corner location if having to choose between the two Hoover locations. It will most likely save you time, money, frustration as well as give you a peace of mind that you are getting better quality of service and product; and in my case a safer vehicle to drive. read more

The truck price on the internet was $38,254. When I arrived they told me the price was $43,500. I reminded them about their posted internet price. Hoover Moncks Corner is the "poster child" of deceptive, false and misleading advertising and sales practices. They advertise cars at a low price and then claim, due to this or that the advertised price isn't correct and then they reference disclaimers that state "prices subject to change", however, they don't change the advertised price. They advertise incentives, which they claim are no longer valid. They advertise additional savings and then state you can only have one discount; that additional does not mean additional. They quote you a price, which is 2k-3k above the advertised price and then tell you that price is only good if you finance through them, which is at a rate higher than elsewhere. They are fully aware that what they are doing is wrong; they just don't care. They need to lose their license for their continued false, misleading and deceptive advertising and sales practices. read more

The atmosphere was very laid-back and a non-pressured environment. I was originally greeted by Arthur Richards sales consultant when I had pulled up to look to see what they had on the lot. He greeted me, but no high pressure sales tactics. I expressed to him I was just looking. I did proceeded to look at several vehicles and told him I would return the following day due to his personality and professionalism. I did just that I worked with Brad on obtaining loan and Shawn wrapped everything up at the end. I took my 18-year-old son with me so that he could learn how those process works. Man oh man where do I begin? I'll just start off by saying be very, very, very careful when dealing with this car dealership! There are bad reviews for a reason and I can personally now say I can see why. I found a vehicle from here on Autotrader that I was interested in online just like most people do nowadays. I submitted my interest for this vehicle and withing 24 hours Brooke C. from their internet sales team responded to me via email. For 3 days we went back and forth and during that time I made it very clear that I did not live very close to Moncks Corner and that I would be making time to come out there with my 2 kids and 39 week pregnant wife. She stated that the vehicle in question was in fact still available. We set up a time for today 10/26 to come out and test drive the vehicle. Brooke C. even emailed me the morning of the test drive to confirm I was still coming. We arrived today with Brooke C. nowhere to be found but a saleswoman named Josie was glad to help me of course. When I told Josie what I was there for she was confused as to why Brooke C. told me to still come because the car I wanted was sold this morning. Of course I was P.O.'d because we live 40 mins away and only made this special trip out to Moncks Corner specifically to look at and possibly purchase the vehicle I found online. Then to add insult to injury Josie tries to spark my interest into a vehicle that's totally not even in the same class or size as what I came all the way down there for. I am now convinced the vehicle in question I wanted was probably already sold and they just left the vehicle marked for sale online to get me to come all the way down there to hopefully sucker me into buying any vehicle from them but nope not today. There's a,courtesy charging station in the waiting area along with a table full of magazines and ample seating. There's also free WiFi for customers. This place has got be be doing illegal fraudulent things. I called ahead to verify vehicle I wanted was available. They confirmed it was. I drove two hours to the dealer and that was a huge mistake. I test drove the vehicle and it was filthy, hadn't been detailed and the vehicle pulled to the right. The salesman said they would detail it and put a repair order in at a local dealer if I purchased it. Why wouldn't it be detailed and repaired if its waiting to be purchased? The vehicle price online was 27,000 and when I arrived and they presented me with the price sheet they changed the price to 29,000. Charged me a "garage fee" of 2,200, a detailing fee of 895, an oil change package fee of 1,850 and a few other fees. They also stated they had to dock a "garage fee" from my trade in, and surely they charged this "garage fee" to the person that traded in the vehicle I was going to purchase which means they're double dipping on vehicle fees. I explained to them that it makes zero sense for a buyer to pay the dealer to detail and repair the vehicle that they are buying. The salesman Josh was fantastic and I'm sure he could make a ton of money at a better dealership. Not working for the manager he has. When I confronted the manager about the fees and the changed price of the vehicle he stated "well it says online the price is subject to change" I left. This place needs to be investigated. The GM here has decided to bump the price of every automobile by added tint, coating, etc...to the tune of 2k increase on each car. A price they won't take out as they say they have added value to the car. This is a true scam to increase their bottom line on the car. Probably at least adds 1k in their pocket.( I am guessing more) There is no value in this add on, as look at Kelly blue book and there is no place to add these features and give the car a boost in price. Go somewhere else as the internet can show you prices anywhere...and much better to deal with. Prices are the highest around and they have the most expensive forced add-ons I've seen, to include a $3K extended warranty that isn't optional. Not sure why anyone would shop here when the price and customer service is what it is. I wish I could give them a negative rating. I bought a 2019 Jeep Cherokee from them in May 2018 under the balloon loan. I was completely lied to about it! Long story short, I was told I could get out of it at anytime before the 6 year contract was up without owing any money. That was a huge lie that I did not know until I went to trade the vehicle in today. Last weekend I went back to inquire about getting a Wrangler and they were trying to force me to buy a 2010 with a 100,000 miles on it even though I kept saying I'm not interested in a 10 year old vehicle. I did not like anything about it and when I asked what I need to do to get out of my balloon loan, the sales person was confused and didn't know what I was talking about. She was the same person to sell me my Cherokee and remembered me! I ended up trading in the Cherokee today for a Wrangler at a completely different dealership and they were so good at explaining the contract to me. This other dealership worked with me and even though I had to put down more money than I wanted to and take a higher payment, I gladly accepted it to get out of this awful contract I was duped into and I plan on paying off the Wrangler and keeping it. Seriously, do NOT buy from Hoover. I got screwed over and they have screwed over my best friend and her family as well. They will sell you a crappy car and/or try to convince you that the balloon loan is a great idea. I have heard they do not offer it anymore (thank god if it's true!) but they are a shady dealership. Had a slip in the rear end a few years ago. So I took the jeep into Hoover in Somerville and they could find nothing wrong. After a year of battling leukemia got back in the jeep and found the slip was getting worse. Loud thunk when engaged in drive. Called Hoover to make an appointment and they told me 8 AM. Arrived at 7:45 and Clay, the technician, told me "at best" they would get to it that evening. I asked him why he would make an 8 o'clock appointment if the earliest they could get to it was that evening and he said "take it someplace else then " Nice considering I drove all the way from Mount Pleasant to Summerville in commute traffic. And he told me it would be $140 charge just to look at the vehicle even though jeeps have a five-year hundred thousand mile warranty. Clay stated that most likely will not be covered before he even looked at it This is on top of the last time I took it in I marked my tires and paid to have them rotated and all they did was swap sides not rotate. When I pointed out the tires were marked and not rotated they apologized saying the technician was new. Not only will I never have Hoover work on any of my vehicles I will not purchase any more from them either. These people are pure idiots and rude. read more

They tried to force us to buy extended warranty which we refused and after that it seemed like they were trying to come up with every excuse in the world not to sell us this car. They started claiming we were missing documents which we were not. They said they would accept the Chrysler affiliate rewards program and then backed out claiming it wouldn't go through. We drove from GA to SC to pick up the vehicle and right before we got there they refused to sell us the car. Ultimately the GM said he refused to do business with us and would not sell us the car. When we purchased my 2011 Dodge Caliber from this dealership, the sales team and financing team worked exceptionally well to get us through the process. Originally we decided to go through this dealership because some other family members had also gone through them as well. We all dealt with the same salesman (who is no longer with them). As a matter of fact, our family has purchased 6 vehicles through that salesman. I did ask if he was available so that I could forgo trading the Caliber for a 200. I wish I could give half stars, because the follow up after trading in this vehicle to their sister store in Summerville. Trying to get refunded for your GAP coverage and the warranty coverage, it is a long drawn out process. I purchased a 2015 200 last month, and had to jump through hoops to get my GAP coverage refunded just this past week. After the multiple phone calls and a drive into the dealership, and then more phone calls, I finally got it back. Now one would think that after all of that, they would have processed the other paper work for the warranty refund, but NO!!! Now I am jumping through hoops yet again to get this refund. Calls to the warranty company and the dealership, a visit to the dealership, and a few more phone calls to the dealer and still no progress. Guess common sense and courtesy doesn't really make good business. Nor does the fact that the two dealerships that I am dealing with are under the same corporate umbrella, but do not communicate with each other to process the necessary paper work to start the process. When I drove up to the dealership to inquire the warranty refund, I was asked why I did not purchase from their location instead of the Summerville store. I responded, "the salesman we usually deal with is not here, and frankly I do not like having to drive the distance to come here, when the Summerville store is closer to my home." In hind site, I ponder the question of what would have happened had I purchased my 200 from them? Would I have my GAP and warranty refunds the week after trading in the Caliber? The sale went smooth, and the customer service was great, well up until we didn't receive our vehicle registration for the tag, we were transferring over from my old car So I emailed the salesperson and she never contacted me, but the internet salesperson did and said I needed to call a person named Sandy well I did call her, and she said the tag couldn't be transferred now I still had over a month on the old tag when we bought the new vehicle and I paid the taxes on the tag before the end of April so this lady tells me I need to go to the DMV and turn my tag in so I can get credit back then go to the tax office and pay the taxes on the new vehicle HMMM by law I have 120 days to pay those taxes on the new one. Then she calls me back and tells me no I can just take my receipt where I paid the taxes on the old car tags and just go to the tax office and pay the taxes on the new one then send her copies of the paid receipt and she have my old tag transferred to my new car... WELL guess what my temporary tag runs out this Friday or Saturday and I still don't have a tag or registration on my new vehicle. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had buying a car. My car is GREAT BUT THE salesman were the worst humans I've ever dealt with. They lied to me about the mats they said they could get for the car, they should have reduced the price of the car if the mats didn't come with the car and they said before I bought it "yes we have mats for it and will get them to you tomorrow "... yea right... to make a long convoluted story short by the time I went to the managers HOUSE TO POCK THEM UP, they of course weren't for a Volvo, were stained, didn't match and were put in a box marked trash. These guys avoided all my calls, were rude throughout the whole process , treated me like I had no clue what I was talking about, and despite the Coronavirus, were in compassionate jerks. I'm happy with my car but am so upset about the experience. They do not care about any of my friends or relatives who have money who might have bought cats from them in the future. The level of attitude i got was just unacceptable. The more research o did about Hoover after I started being treated this way ...well I'm not the only one, let's just put it that way... First of all DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP. I recently went to this dealership to purchase a car they had advertised online. Thats where the 5 hour nightmare I went through started. I drove almost a hour to this dealership for a car they had advertised at a great price. Upon arrival they could not even find the car I found online and started showing me different versions of the car I found initially. Cutting to the chase I wanted to talk price. The price listed that I found was apparently the price if i qualified for all these many things. On the advertisement there was no * saying subject to change based on qualifications etc. The price increased $10,000 from the listing price they had online. The ole BAIT AND SWITCH. Lucky for them they had another vehicle at their other location that I found online as well. Before heading to get that car I spoke with the GM to agree to a price before wasting my time going to get this car. We agreed to the price I was looking for bottom line out the door. So we spent the next hour and a half going to get this vehicle. Once we arrived back to start the paperwork the GM tells me he made a $4,000 mistake on the price we agreed to. WOW. Of course I was furious and still they could not get to my price point after wasting 5 HOURS of my day. Horrible experience and shocking that the GM agreed to a price then claims he made a mistake. Any good Manager would honor his mistake and make it right, not this one. I even mentioned the exact same vehicle was 15 miles down the road for $2,000 less and they still let me walk. I went to that dealership, Stokes Honda North, and bought that car and dealt with much better management. CALL BEFORE YOU EVER GO TO THIS LOCATION TO DISCUSS PRICING. SHADY CAR SALES IN FULL EFFECT. Oh and they also claim that this has been happening for some time with the sites that advertise their car but they have yet to do anything about it. Once again, terrible management. Happy to sell you a vehicle but customer service following the sale is unacceptable. I had a SCHEDULED appt that the dealership called and confirmed. My wife and I took the morning off from work to drive to the 16 miles dealership to drop the truck off for recall and warranty work. When I arrived at service dept. I was informed that they were out of parts for my recall and would not honor my scheduled appt. They told me it would be over a week to get the parts in. Time off from work for two, 32 miles round trip all could have been avoided by one phone call. They took the time to confirm the appointment but not to make us aware that there were no parts and the appt. could not be honored. Our family has bought over $80,000 in trucks from this dealership in the last 6 months. I think it is time to find a new dealership that cares more about the customer after they get their money. read more

When I test drove it everything seemed okay, no lights were on the dash. About 2 months later and the check engine light comes on. Not to mention the whole "non-negotiating" aspect of this place. But I will say, a couple times I got my oil changed and they had washed my Journey for me which was VERY MUCH APPRECIATEDR and completely unexpected! Sadly, it only happened twice but I wish it was an every time deal. 1st time, I was actually in a rush to make another appointment, so didn't realize what was taking so long.. then when they pulled it around he said they had washed it for me! He was very upfront and had me on the road for a test drive in no time. Before I left we were able to work out a deal that completely met all of my needs and I never once felt shortchanged or underhanded. About four years ago , my father had his truck painted at their body shop across from Walmart. My father is an 80 year old Korean War Vet. His 1994 Chevy Z71 has 89,000 miles on it. They did a crappy paint job on it and they did not even take the bed off to do the paint job right. The paint bubbled up under the hood ! Some witch at Hoover called him a liar and made fun of him. If a customer comes in knowing exactly what they are willing to spend and make it clear to the sales manager several times, why cannot the sales manager understand that? Customers know what their budget is and to try to sell them something that is out of their budget is simply ridiculous. Selling a vehicle that greatly exceeds Kelly Blue Book value deceives the customer and only adds to the dealers pocket. Oh the loathing I have for this establishment after my recent interaction. I write a review on their Facebook page on 9/20, telling the truth about how many vehicles my wife and I have purchased from this dealership (4, 3 of which were new, in 5 years time), and the amount my parents and brother have purchased (8+ hard to keep track of). I have never been treated great in all of my transactions, until this previous one this week. Where the previous associates that helped us find our vehicles, also helped with helping us through with a few other items well after the sale. Helping with getting our vehicles into service, and giving us updates on the vehicle while in service, without being enticed or asked. This time around however, I guess the separation between sales and service is more noticible at this location than previous times we have visited. Where a simple detailing, that should take no more than 30 minutes, turns into a 3 hour wait, and no updates from anybody. My sales associate, financing associate or the finance manager, all saw me pacing the show room, showing my disgust of waiting, and not one of them took it upon themselves to find out what the status of my vehicle was, until I asked, in a pretty ticked off state. You see I work 3rd shift, and told all three of them that the day before when we signed most of the paperwork, they sent us home with the vehicle, and said that I would have to return to sign a few other forms that they were unable to print, and detail the car as well. This whole interaction while searching, dealing and signing went swell. Like previous encounters with other associates. Head back up there after my shift, and they opened in the morning, about 930 is when I showed up. Signed the forms, asked about a concern. Test drove with a mechanic for my concern, mechanic checked it out, then off to detailing. I go to a local store, purchase an item, receipt says 10. Return to the waiting room, get up after maybe a half hour or and hour, wasn't keeping track at that point, but people who were coming in for service were coming and going faster than I was. Walk to the show room, waiting to see if anyone was going to give me an update, nothing! Associate goes to lunch. I ask the manager to get an update. He comes back and explains that for some reason my vehicle managed to slip through the normal procedure of all the other vehicles on their lot. When a new vehicle comes off the truck, they drive the vehicle a bit for a quality inspection before listing it in the inventory. After the "test", they detail and spray Zurich Shield (a protective coating) on it before placing it on the lot. What was irritating about this, after the fact, was we looked at this vehicle 3 days prior to signing any paper work, why was it not sprayed during that time? Even if we did not buy it, why would it not be sprayed? And who knows how long the vehicle was there before we looked at it. Anyways, he said that they had detailed it and were applying the coating which took an hour. Why was I not informed of this being done when I got up there? Or why was there no update between 10 and the time I asked, at least 2 hours have passed by this time. Shortly after he walks away, the associate comes back from lunch, with a colleague, colleague walks to his desk, associate walks to the finance office, or service, not really sure, didn't watch where he walked. Next thing I see is my vehicle coming around the corner, and as I walk out the door, the associate is standing in front of the car. As I walk forward, he starts explaining the situation, where I responded that I already got the explanation from the manager, and did mot want to hear anything else. The same day this interaction took place 9/20, I placed my review, much like this, but more detailed on their Facebook page. Today, 9/23, three days later, I am supposed to be sleeping, I get two calls from the associate, I refuse to answer, and no voice message. I find it interesting that this business responded to multiple BBB complaints regarding a "Scratch & Win" promotion by saying they won't conduct this sales tactic again, but I've just received a mailing indicating that I have won $25,000 or a new Jeep. I called the hotline as instructed and was told I have to come in to claim my prize. She guaranteed I was a winner but could not confirm what my prize is. The prize options do include a $2 lottery ticket - woo-hoo! I don't believe I really won the $25,000 - and I'm not driving to Monck's Corner to be scammed - but it's a shame this business can continue to get away with scamming their local customers. read more
