Best place in Murray! Food is always excellent, restaurant is exceptionally clean, staff friendly and always willing to offer suggestions or make changes according to dietary needs. Everywhere you go in town people are talking about this place. The atmosphere is amazing and a fun, friendly place to eat! It's unfortunate disgruntled employees are leaving bad reviews to try to hurt the owner's. This place is top notch! read more

Went to the Hop Hound yesterday at lunch time with a few co-workers. I have been there a couple of times previously and had terrible service and swore I would not return. The other times I had gone before were at dinner time so I was hoping that the service at lunch time might be better, so I gave them another chance. When we arrive there were no more than 4 tables occupied. The hostess was standing at the counter on the telephone and not another employee to be seen. The hostess finally got off the phone and pointed us to an area in the restaurant and said there should be a 6 top table available. We find a table that had not been wiped down and noticed that none of the empty tables have been cleaned. We took our seat and were greeted by our waitress who took our drink orders. The drinks were quickly brought out to us and we ordered our food. Forty minutes pass when the waitress stops at our table and tells us our food will be right out. Keep in mind that we are on our lunch break from work which was an hour long break. Fifteen more minutes pass and we stopped our waitress and asked again about our food and were assured it would only be a second more. By this time we are realizing that we will be late getting back to work. We debated on just leaving at this point because we were so disappointed with the service so far, but we were all hungry so we waited. Fifteen minutes later our food was brought to our table. The waitress called out the food as she sat them in front of each of us based on what we had ordered. She misspoke on the burgers she brought us and a couple got mixed up so they were stuck eating something they didn't order because they did not realize the mistake until they had already started eating. The food was just okay. but nothing to right home about. We quickly ate our food so that we could get back to work. The waitress brought us the bills and they gave us a 20% discount on the food because of all the issues. I don't want a discount. I want to go to an establish and have good customer service and good food, but that is just the opposite of what you get at the Hop Hound. We had a party of 4, there was only one other table besides us, when we walked in there were no tables wiped off that would fit us 4. Waitress was nice, got our order and drinks- 40 minutes later we got our food, the beer cheese was the most enjoyable and the onion rings- everything else was hard and dry. The best part was enjoying each other's company - nothing about the restaurant. read more

Great addition to Murray. I went for the local beer which was great but ended up being really surprised by how good the food was.

There is a lot to like at this spot - interesting, tasty beers for a good price, friendly service, tasty food. However, I recommend against sitting outside. We were inundated with flies and various unidentified bugs that began arriving with our drinks and grew more numerous as each course arrived. The staff was already aware of the issue as the server left our menus on the table after taking our order, suggesting we use them to fan the flies away when our food arrived. It was pretty disgusting to feel flies landing on my arm and a bit tiring to constantly try to fan them away from our food. I might not have written a review except that as we were getting the check, the server (who saw everything I have described) suggested they could bring out a second fan to supplement one blowing several tables away and blow away the flies for us. If we'd had that fan from the beginning we would have had a completely different, better experience. So, sit inside and enjoy the beer. read more

Hop hound is a nice addition to Murray. For the most part the food was good. My man had the wings with the beer Mac and it was perfect. I had the chicken spinach artichoke flat bread which I was a bit disappointed in. The flatbread was overcooked and more like a cracker than a flatbread that I'm used to anyway. The artichoke dip on top was flavorful and good however. We sat outside and the sweat bees were swarming. It was tolerable until the flies also came. There was an OVERWHELMING amount of flies. It was so terrible it ruined our experience and were running to get out of there. They offered to move us inside but by then we would have been wasting another table for someone else. Won't be sitting outside again unless maybe it was nighttime. The bathroom was not kept very clean, and there were severs sitting rolling silverware ignoring some clean up paper towels that were all on the floor with old spillage from the bar. I just feel like with not many people to occupy their business at the time it wouldn't take much to clean a little; it just didn't look good for being a new business. We would probably go back for some drinks and wings inside only. This is my best honest review. Hopefully I can change my review in the future to a better one. read more

What an opportunity on the verge of missed opportunity. Great menu, generally done well. However, customer service/experience is a complete whiff. The atmosphere is good, could be improved. A bit noisy. There is a sports bar vibe, however 8 tv's on the wall. 5 are off, 2 have Roku screen savers going, one has Bob Ross painting.....buzz kill. The staff is totally lost. The host can't do her job, for wiping tables, when the bus person could be doing that. The waitresses do one task at a time, instead of being able to multitask, which turns into a LONG wait for drinks, orders, needs, food, etc. Total time for getting 3 sandwiches and a couple drinks - 2 hours 15 min. Unacceptable. Totally frustrating eating experience, with no personality from wait staff, feeling like no one "sees" what the customer needs. Management needs to take personal responsibility in teaching customer service and to get a good flow going and understanding what their customers want out of establishment such as this. Icing on the cake, I get my bill for $53, when waitress returns for me to sign, bill total was rang up as $123. Glad I was at least paying attention. This could be a crown jewel establishment, but totally needs some quality management and attention to detail. read more

Been there twice and they've only been open 2 weeks. Son has been there a bunch. Beers are good sandwiches are GREAT!! One of our favorite chefs is doing some of the cooking! Yea! Had the prime rib sandwich today and the fish dip is like being in Florida. Yum!! Onion rings are good too. Haven't tried a dessert but if Gail made them then it's awesome. Try them out.
