My experiences with the Hopdoddy chain are pretty mixed. I first visited an outlet in North Austin which knocked my socks off, then a follow-up visit to one in Cedar Park was pretty bad. However, this location did a bang-up job and I'd come back in a heartbeat! Yes, Hopdoddy is a bit overpriced. Yes, it can get packed with the 'hip crowd' during certain times. However, they do a pretty darned good burger for those times you want something a little special. Ambiance is cool, doesn't lean too heavy on the 'burger bar' vibe, and it's very clean. Service was fast and friendly, kudos there. I ordered the Parmesan Truffle fries, a 'Dirty Dreamsickle' drink, and a Cadillac Wagyu burger. The fries were pretty good, a trifle salty but that's to be expected with lots of Parm. Didn't care for the Dirty Dreamsickle but it was properly done and very creamy - it's made with custard, Orange Fanta, and coconut! By far the standout was the burger. Any flaws were forgiven with the 1/2lb patty topped with Swiss, fried onion strings, bacon, aoli, steak sauce, tomato, and arugula. Perfectly balanced flavors and juicy beef, definitely one of the top burgers I've had. This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. Stopped by for a milkshake to/go on a weekday. They have a countering ordering and a self-seating system. The order taker was friendly and fast, delivering my cookies and cream milk shake about 5 minutes after I ordered it. The restaurant felt welcoming and clean. The drink was cold, tasty, and the regular size was easily enough for two people! read more

Although it's a busy time of day, beautiful weather in San Antonio, we were greeted at the door by staff and assigned a table of our choice. They have tables inside and outside. Ordering was easy, menus were easy to understand and very diverse with lots of options. From hamburgers to gourmet burgers to salads. Truffle fries and brussels sprouts are absolutely fabulous. Drinks you pick up when you order and self serve but alcoholic beverages were also served quick when seated. Food was delivered hot, correct orders, staff check frequently to see if needs were being met or refills needed, and manager came by and even check to see how our service was. The food was FABULOUS. Picked up my order to go! This Nashville chicken was so good along with the parm fries. So good I didn't realize they missed my bacon add on the burger. The people were fast and the place was nice with plenty of seating. I was a little confused on where to wait for my order. Will most likely be back on the food being so good. read more

This is our first time to this location and I must say Hopdoddy has never disappointed us. The burgers were great! And of course can't forget to mention the best Parmesan truffle fries. Those are a must have! The staff here were amazing very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere and location is great! Close to home, and work, I'll do happy for this location. read more

Wonderful! We are fans of Hopdoddy and we're so excited about this new location closer to home. We ate here on Friday night and were able to snag two seats at the bar. Dante was very welcoming and efficient. He took our order and made sure we were taken care of. Per his recommendation, I tried the bananas foster milkshake and it was heavenly. So thick, sweet, and the perfect amount of banana flavor. My husband enjoyed a voodoo ranger on draft. To start we enjoyed a bowl of fries with green chile queso. This always hits! For burgers I got the magic shroom and my husband ordered the wagyu smash. While messy, the burgers were so yummy. The food came out relatively quickly and the bar seating was quite comfortable. We love HopDoddy!! On top of really good burgers, they have amazing fries and salads. The restaurant itself is really cool, it has a bar and garage doors that open up to the patio. We've been several times since they opened this location and every experience has been awesome, even when things went wrong. There was a mix up with a to go order we put in once and the manager came out, apologized, and gave us a voucher for the inconvenience. Today, they lost power (I think it was the entire block) and they handled it so well. Luckily our burgers were already cooking so we got everything except for our fries. Once again the manager came out, apologized, and gave us a voucher. All of the staff members were great and were doing their best despite the lack of power. Great spot for interesting, good quality food. We shared the truffle parm fries and they were awesome. I tried the mushroom burger which had pesto and goat cheese on it- it was messy but tasty. Other diners had the classic burgers. Service was great and friendly. The manager stopped at our table twice to check in. Our only knock was that we really wanted to try a shake and they were r making them tonight. The cashier didn't really explain why. If we lived in the area we would be back. read more

The whole experience was amazing! We were very warmly greeted by Dante, and we sat at the bar to dine. And he was amazing at making sure that he got our orders absolutely correct. It was shift change, so Dante had to leave and this awesome super girl bartender, Joey, took over. She was super attentive, made great drinks and magically just took over the bar all the people in it and everything around her in an amazing way! Everybody that she was serving was so happy. The manager Vee was super sweet as well. Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures of the food because I wasn't planning on leaving a review. But the service was so stellar that it's worth the time to take to leave a review. So about the food... We started with the chicken tenders, which came out very hot and fresh, we had the buffalo sauce and the hot honey. The hot honey delivered with balance of heat and sweet and the buffalo sauce was very good and clearly a proprietary recipe, and unique and delicious. We got the shareable fries with the green chili queso. That queso is off the chain. It's very green chili forward with a hint of poblano and one of the tastiest green chili cases I've ever had. Dare I say it's better than Torchy's? I had the classic burger with American cheese and it was wonderful, I asked to add pickles, and that wasn't a problem. Yummy burgers and fries! Brought the kiddos this weekend and very reasonably priced especially for the quality of food. Ravi was very friendly and helpful when ordering. Also got some shakes after those meals and the kids approved. Nice location and plenty of seating. read more

I am a regular at Rim & 1604 location, I give 5/5 to them both. I get 4 tenders and burger all the time at other locations. Here the cashiers not friendly and it was complicated. At both of the other locations it's $2.50 for a chicken strip. And the 5 strips meal if you break it down is exactly that per strip. I didnt order anything else today with the strips. Usually I get the doddy melt also. I wish I went to the other location. I don't know why this one cannot do a burger and add on chicken strips like open food at other places. --Besides that there was a ton of employees at 1p my visit time and I got my food with no ranch no sauce at all like normal. I asked for it two times, two different people. Then later and after being asked how's my food. I don't know I don't have sauce for the tender yet. A different person than the two finally brought the sauce. Idk it wasn't friendly and good customer service. It was how they said no after asking manager read more
