A delicious place to stop when in the medical center area. Once you order at the counter and get your drinks the service is quite quick for such delicious food. Yummy lunch! I came here with a group of coworkers today and we all enjoyed our meal. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Drinks are self serve. We were able to get a nice table on the patio in the shade for our group of 7. I enjoyed the 1/2 orchard sandwich (turkey, Brie, bacon, field greens, green apple on a French roll) with the roasted poblano soup. Both were quite good! The sandwich was very generous with the apples on soft bread and the soup was comforting and flavorful! I also ordered the sweet potato fries which were very crispy, and delicious. My order with tip and a fountain drink was $23 so it wasn't the cheapest lunch but it was quality ingredients, and a filling portion. I'd come back to try more! read more

I've been to Picnikins a couple of different times now - probably a year or so apart. The first time, I can't remember what I had, but I can remember I wasn't blown out of the water. I thought everything was just mediocre - hence the delay in coming back. This past week, my wife and I were running errands in the area and through - sure - why not? Neither one of us could remember why this isn't one of those places that jumps to mind when you're thinking about eating out somewhere... I opted for the Backyard sandwich and sweet potato fries. The sandwich was good - but - at the same time, it was just a sandwich. You know what I mean? It's basically a sandwich you could make yourself at home if you were really feelin' creative. So, in terms of...great deli sandwiches - it doesn't rise to that level. It was good, don't get me wrong - but in the end it's just an "okay" sammie. I thought the price for the sandwich was in line. The sweet potato fries, on the other hand, were disappointing. They were limp and not crispy. The chips (which are apparently made in house) are pretty good, though - my wife really enjoyed them. Service was good - I thought the food came out quickly and their staff was attentive in terms of watching tables and cleaning away dishes. Bottom line: just okay; still won't leap to mind when thinking about where to eat. read more

Hubbae loved his mushroom and Swiss burger with sweet potato fries. Too hungry to take a pic. His meal came out about 10 min before my Asian salad, so I mainly remember how long it took to get my meal. Hence the 3 stars. We went at 12 pm on a Friday, so if I'd went back, it would be on an off time. The wait was too long. Place was busy so they are doing something right! I took half my salad home and was surprise to see it still fresh (with the exception of the wonton strips) and crispy 2-3 days later. Salad was ok, but maybe I just picked the wrong one to try. Ambience was a solid 4. Clean, tables nicely spaced out and comfortable. Service was a 3. Only because we stated we were sharing the soups and received one soup spoon. When I asked for a second I was brought out a serving spoon. Not. Huge deal but if you serve soup and use soup spoons then when asked for a second spoon I'd think a soup spoon would be the obvious first choice. Maybe I'm just picky but details matter. Especially when I'm spending over $40 for 2 sandwiches and a cup of soup. Food was a 3 for the deli meats being used but a 4 for the other ingredients. Nice to see fresh sliced avocado and Alfa sprouts. Generous portions but nothing spectacular. Would love to see more creativity from the business to make their sandwiches stand out. The poblano soup was warm at best. And I'm sure it's became the sour cream was stirred into the soup when serving so cooked it off. Came here before the lunch hour started. Perfect timing. Place was clean and counter person was friendly. The soup was okay. Partly because it wasn't hot. It was warm. I felt like they added sour cream before serving and it cooled the soup down. My husband and I were sharing the soup so we asked the girl who brought it out if we could get another spoon. She brought a regular spoon. I asked her if we could get a soup spoon. She seemed annoyed or didn't understand the difference. Our sandwiches were delicious. They used quality ingredients. Joined two business colleagues for lunch at this very popular place! Long line to place order at counter, but moved fairly quickly. The Vermont Salad is my favorite salad EVER! Also an ENORMOUS portion! Two could easily share it. Big bowl of fresh salad greens, green apple matchsticks, pecans, cranberries, and an addictive Vermont maple dressing that's somehow not too sweet! The combo of flavors and textures is just perfect. What a delicious lunch! Enjoyed the poblano soup with a greek salad. Yummy yummy. The creamy poblano soup is advertised as spicy. I'm a medium picante sauce person and the spice level was perfect for me. The cream cut the spice just right. (Purposefully did not google a calorie count on this one!) The greek salad was huge and loaded with all things greek. It is pretossed with dressing, so if you prefer otherwise, just ask for on the side. A limited, but thoughtful, selection of draft beer. I absolutely love this place! My first visit was at the original location off of Blanco. When I am in the area, I usually end up coming here for lunch. I will say I have never been disappointed with their sandwiches or salads. Great portions. Kind of on the pricey side, but they always have great service and the quality of their food is outstanding. One of my favorite dishes here is the Orchard sandwich. Hubby enjoys the Poblano Soup. At lunch time, we might enjoy a half sandwich, half soup combo. They also have gluten-free bread. There is one big, big, BIG negative, however, and you should be aware of it. They do NOT allow food from other restaurants on their property, whether inside or on the patio. After a grueling morning of working at home, our teenage granddaughter accompanied us to Picnikins. We stopped by Chick -fil-A, 'cause teenagers like it - and since she had worked all morning with no food, she gets what she wants. We sat outside at Picnikins, waiting for hubby to place our order. After a few minutes, a young lady told us that our granddaughter was not allowed to sit with us on the patio with food from another restaurant. Yes, they actually police the patio. If we hadn't already placed our order, we might have left. The owners must surely know that many young people do not eat the same food their parents/grandparents eat. And, people have lots of alternatives where restaurant owners do not police their customers. I wonder how THEY would feel if THEY were forced to eat somewhere they didn't want to eat? For now, it appears that they would rather lose two customers than allow a teen eating Chick-fil-A to accompany paying customers. read more

A hidden gem! I live in the area but had no idea this was here. Hubby was craving a good Ruben and found this place to try. We came for lunch during a weekday. As it was right at lunch time it was a bit busy, but it didn't take too long to order and get our food. It was a nice day despite being in the winter so we enjoyed the patio dining. I love this place! If I could go here more often I absolutely would! My favorites are the Vermont salad with a protein (chicken or salmon) and the Poblano soup. The poblano soup is seriously the best soup I've ever had in my entire life. If I could bathe on this, I very likely would. Yes, it's THAT good! I've yet to recommend this to a friend who didn't agree. The employees are very friendly & the customer service is great. My only negative is that they are no longe open in the evening.
