Me and my wife had a really tough day and we wanted to go somewhere nice to basically get away from everything. My wife suggested this place and I have never been here prior but once I parked my vehicle and stepped inside, i completely forgot about my worries because I felt like I was at home. The lighting and the atmosphere inside is absolutely beautiful. I feel like I'm in a speakeasy but not so secretive and this place is just warm with positive vibes from the people that are here. Great selection of cocktails and all sorts of seasonal drinks and specials. Mixologists here are highly trained for what they do and are great with their customer service. They have a larger room in the back that I was not able to see that looks like it's for larger parties. My only regret about this place is that I should have came here for Valentine's day. We've been here multiple times before and they definitely sell some of the most unique drinks in the Chicago suburbs. I love that their menu changes so often each season with so many different drinks to try and they are all super inventive. I also love that they sometimes put fun little items on the drinks, such as a page from a book, a temporary tattoo, or a piece of candy. This time, they had their spring 2026 menu. I looked at their Instagram page before coming and decided exactly what I wanted. It's so fun how they write a little story to go along with each cocktail and the thought process behind it. It definitely makes the drinks feel more personal and special. We started off with the Rose Tico Conundrum (very sweet and came with a little piece of raspberry candy) and Pepe Silvia's Pickle Party Plot (really delicious, was surprised by this one). Next we tried the speciality API month drink called Gratitude in Bloom (tasted very gingery and lemony, almost like a healthy tea drink) and the Springtime Thought Crime (very strong with a hint of cherry). There isn't much seating so it's not great for huge groups but I think there is a patio. It's a pretty casual spot and great for just hanging out. The music is loud but the vibe is fun. The bartenders and servers are always amazing and super attentive. They do not serve their own food, but I think they have a food truck sometimes that you can order from and they'll bring it to you. Update: One I'm SO HAPPY to write! Common Good seems to have pivoted and they are BACK! Their approach has returned to their roots: hands-on, personable, bespoke, white glove! Friends and I stopped in on a Friday evening and noticed... 1) they are back to having printed menus, which is very welcomed! Not only that, but they have slimmed down the choices (great!) and have a picture of each drink. Love it! 2) our waitress was very friendly and seemed personally appreciative for our business 3) Not only did our waitress take our drink orders (without writing anything down) but she also delivered our drinks in the palm of her hand (literally, she "handed" them to us balanced in her palm - wonderful pageantry and presentation!) I've been to this fun little gem a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience each time. Inside is a cute little house, a bit tight when it's busy, but when the patio is open - it's a great space to stretch out! I think the seasonal cocktails rotate monthly or damn near close. 5/10/25 Update Still is my favorite neighborhood bar, and honestly, it's ruining other bars for me. The cocktails are so good it's borderline suspicious, the staff is friendlier than my relatives, and the service is so smooth I half-expect them to hand me a robe and slippers. The cocktail Mr. Milchick's Terrible, Awful, No Good, Very Bad Day? Ironically, it turned my day into a spectacular, wonderful, exceptionally good, very fine evening. It's hands down the best drink I've had in years--like a warm hug in a fancy glass. Sure, it's a bit pricey, but totally worth it. Kingslayer Rye was my leadoff drink and the description was true to the execution, "Dry-Heat, Sweet-Spicy, Murderous", very creative! Other drinks, including the Black Manhattan and Sazerac were solid versions. We sat in the bar area, which was fine, but I'd recommend sitting outside if the weather is right. After having spent most of the night here it's safe to say I love this place. The staff is beyond friendly and welcoming. Our server (I forgot her name - whoops) was very attentive and helped my wife & I narrow down our choices since there are so many. Their Old Fashioned is delicious as were the drinks my wife had tried. The space is a little small so you may have to stand before finding seats but it does not take away from the fun & atmosphere. oh, common good, i'm so disappointed. i was there at 10:00 for coffee and their wonderful biscuit with sausage, egg, and pimiento cheese. the last time i was here they were out of sausage. today they were out of sausage and eggs. i had the biscuit with pimiento cheese. much to my dismay, the young man who was working had not warmed the biscuit. do NOT ever serve me a cold biscuit. even the wonderful ones they have from bang bang pie are not good when served cold. i remember hearing somewhere that the first indication of a failing business is when the food supplies aren't in stock. i hope this isn't true for common good. but it is very frustrating. guess i'll call ahead next time. and i think $9 for a cold biscuit and a cup of coffee is too much. read more

Told the female bartender (bartendress?) exactly what we liked (floral, citrus, slightly herbaceous and then floral, sweet, fruity) and she crafted the PERFECT spirit free drinks for us. We were blown away by how accurate the drinks were to our preferences. This was for sure an elevated drink experience. It was reminiscent of cocktails we have had at Longman & Eagle (obviously), The Whistler, Violet Hour, and Aviary (without the gastronomic elements). We don't drink alcohol anymore, and were so pleased to find Common Good by recommendation of a family member. The entire staff were honestly some of the nicest, humble people we have ever spoken to....and the service was very quick and unbelievably friendly for being so busy. This was an experience as opposed to a typical night out, and the establishment and its staff are absolute gems (not to be confused with GEMS aka Glen Ellyn Moms). The high end cocktail bar finally makes its way into the suburbs. This little gem of a bar is a must visit in downtown Glen Ellyn. It's like walking into an old fashioned speakeasy with their primary focus just being damn good cocktails. I was able to try a highball of theirs as well as the aviator cocktail. The highball itself they use a very special carbonation machine that the waitress actually said was one of the few in the US. The carbonation level was higher than anything I've experienced and made the drink itself so memorable. I normally would venture into the other drinks with more ingredients to try something new, but I'm so glad I didn't and ended up with the highball. The aviator was also excellent with its purple hue and distinct violet taste. They have a few bar bites and also serve Bang Bang pie. The pies change out regularly and this time they had key lime and maple. The maple was very good and a nice end to my night. All in all, I'll be back here.
