Tonight was my second visit to Hopscotch. Last time my son and I both had the fish and chips, this time I had the Saturday special butter chicken. I agree and disagree with other reviewers. The menu prices do feel a bit high compared to other restaurants in Schaumburg - these prices feel more Wrigleyville than 'burbs. That said, we have been impressed with the food both times, and I do appreciate Guinness on tap! Service improved from first visit to second, so I believe management is listening and actively working out the kinks. I'm looking forward to visit number 3 - maybe when it cools off a little so we can enjoy the beautiful patio space. read more

I was excited to try this place. It's in a great area parking is in an issue. Service was great they had some games and the place is awesome for hanging out watching some sports with friends and they do have some activities/ games that you can do with friends. The food however isn't that impressive. Triple cook duck fat chips is a must try it's really good and tasty. As well as the potato truffle and leek soup is a must must! I ordered the double cut Berkshire pork chop however when it came out it was still pink inside which I believe it's not supposed to be with pork. So they did replace my pork chop with a new one however some parts of it weren't really tender the parts that were tender was okay. The manager and the staff they were really nice about it and they really took care of it and were on top of things. Happy eating! read more

We live in walking distance from Hopscotch, and decided that tonight- not too warm, not too cold- was perfect. We marched on down there and - on entry- no one greeted us. Two employees came from the kitchen- noticed we were there- but didn't greet us or acknowledge our existence. We started walking towards the bar, and the barkeep said we could sit wherever we wanted. Ok. We made our way to a very nice outdoor patio with a view of the water feature in Schaumburg Towne Square. Admittedly newer to the area, we enjoyed the views here. The waiter came out, took a beer order, and we ordered a Scotch Egg for an app, and we shared fish and chips and cottage pie. The Scotch Egg was spicier and saltier than expected - but we got 4 egg halves - nice. the fish and ships was huge (see the pic below) and the fish was super flaky. Awesome. The tartar sauce looked great but was a bit lacking in flavor. The Cottage Pie was - well- pretty ok. Typical english food- filling but not too flavorful. Still, it hit the spot! We noted our waiter was a bit hit or miss. When it came time to ask for the bill we had to wait for him to show up and request it - a bit disconcerting. The two point demerits were for the lack of acknowledgement on entry and the wait for the bill at the end of the meal. I want them to succeed- after all, they are in walking distance from our house! But they need to focus a bit more effort on customer service for sure read more

My first visit to Hopscotch was, unfortunately, a bit disappointing. The place has a lot of potential and the atmosphere could be fantastic, but the execution fell short. Even though it wasn't particularly busy, the service was lacking--I found myself going to the bar to get my own drinks, which shouldn't happen during a dining experience. The organization also seemed off. The host encouraged us to check out the simulators downstairs, but when we got there, the area was dark and not set up, leaving us confused about what we were supposed to see. Overall, the venue has great vibes and plenty of potential, but better service and attention to detail would go a long way toward improving the guest experience. This place has real promise, once they get their flow going and have a regular stream of customers, full menu items, and events. We tried Hopscotch on Memorial Day (Monday) and were pleased to find it wasn't yet too crowded for lunch. As other Yelpers shared, a couple of items we wanted to try, Hopscotch was out of. We finished our meal of cheese curds and fish n' chips and walked around with our drinks. The top level with outdoor patio is my favorite of the three levels, with great views and a relaxed vibe. I enjoyed my Mango Nirvana cocktail, a mix of tequila, mango liqueur, fresh mango, lime juice. The rim was a blend of sea salt and curry, or cumin for a unique aroma and taste. The fish n' chips were rather bland, but it is a good, shareable dish, with one big piece of fish. In my opinion, I expected it to have more flavor, after the uniquely spiced cocktail I had. Our server, Sam, was great. He was very helpful, funny, and checked on us often. I look forward to nights on the patio, especially during free concert nights. Prices are a little higher than other local spots for comparable, upscale brewery-like food. Limited parking nearby, due to shared lots with the Schaumburg library and other businesses. read more

Hopscotch Pub's opening has long been anticipated in the Historic Schaumburg Downtown. The restaurant's concept is a mixture of British Gastropub that offers plenty of entertainment. Downstairs, they have two golf simulators and game room. They have a large bar and dining area on the main floor as well as a nice outdoor patio. Upstairs there is even more seating plus an outdoor terrace. My husband and I visited mid-afternoon on a Saturday. Upon entry, we were told that the entire upstairs didn't open till dinner service at 5pm. We decided to sit on the main floor patio to enjoy the nice weather. We sadly saw multiple groups upstairs on the terrace dining so I'm not sure why they said it was closed. The food menu as a whole is very expensive. That have certain dishes that are offered daily as well as their all day menu. They do offer brunch earlier on weekends although we were given the main menu. For drinks, my husband ordered the Gin & Grapefruit Highball and I ordered a French Martini. Our server quickly cane back to let me know they didn't have the ingredients for a French Martini so I got a Cosmo. We soon found out that all of their Specialty Cocktails are prebatched which is disappointing at a $14 cost. The drinks themselves tasted good and were refreshing but not very spirit forward. My martini was also far from filling the glass. This spot has some good promise as they work through kinks and adapt to what the area needs. They would thrive having a happy hour as well as bottomless brunch options. They have a fun, party environment they need to lean into. For now, this felt like an alright spot that was simply overpriced. read more

A beautiful Sunday afternoon led us to Hopscotch to overlook the Schaumburg Towne Square fountain. We sat on the patio. The menu had great choices across British and Indian cuisine. We had grilled carrots for an appetizer. A great start when hungry. The prime rin and cottage pie did not disappoint. I love the generous portion of the beef. A bit more jus would be good for the worksheet pudding and meat. Potatoes a bit undergone, but good. Drinks generous, dessert menu led us to Sticky Toffee pudding. Waited a bit to be seated despite the available tables and waited a long bit for dessert. Overall a good experience. Hopefully they open early for Premier League futbol. read more

Theres no question new businesses can have operational tough starts (pointing to some reviews I read prior). But wherever the kinks were are/have been ironed out my friends. Mia was our server, and impressively and appropriately attentive throughout. From recommendations, drinks (pilsner beers), English cut roast beef sandwich, burger and chips and kids fish sticks--all of them were winners. Personally, I had the burger, and the aioli is unique---and very good. I'm a big fan of the fries too. Topped it off with a sample of soft serve (The 99 Flake), complimentary of Hopscotch. They were even passing out samples on this Monday night during the library concerts at Town Square. We sat on the patio on the second floor. This was my first time to Hopscotch. My son recommended it to me. The service was good and our waitress very friendly. I had the beef sandwich and it was delicious! My son had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it! It was a large hand dipped piece of haddock. Yum! My husband had the special Butter Chicken. He loved the flavors but it was a little dry. Sup par food. Half the items were not available and the items that did look good are only available during the week. Maybe because it's only day 2 but the food was just so bland. I really wanted to like this place right in my backyard. How can they open up with such a poor showing. Maybe wait a week or two and get to perfection before your grand opening. Ambiance is lacking energy. Downstairs feels like a cave with a few games. A friends basement would be a better option. Rooftop is just an open space and felt empty. No live music, no dj. Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience from start to finish. The menu wasn't very enticing, and the service made things worse. We ordered a beer, and when we ordered a second round, the wrong beer was brought to our table. While it wasn't a huge mistake, our server insisted it was the correct beer instead of simply apologizing and replacing it. I also ordered a dirty martini, and even that was made incorrectly. The biggest issue came when it was time to pay. We split the bill, and after everyone had paid, the other party noticed they had been charged for an extra martini. We brought it to our server's attention, and he admitted that he had accidentally put my drink on their bill. Instead of clearly explaining how he was going to fix it, he simply brought me another check after I had already paid. There was no explanation or apology, so I had to track him down to ask why I was being charged a second time. He then told me he had processed a refund on my original payment and charged me again for a larger bill. This was never discussed with me or authorized beforehand. Because of his mistake, I ended up paying my bill twice and had to wait about a week for the refund to be processed. Considering all of the errors throughout the meal, I think the situation could have been handled much better. To make matters worse, we spoke with the blonde-haired manager, and she was incredibly rude and unprofessional. She raised her voice at us, accused us of trying to avoid paying our bill, and was dismissive and degrading despite the billing error being entirely caused by their staff. Between the incorrect drinks, poor communication, billing issues, and disrespectful treatment from management, this was a very frustrating experience. I won't be returning. read more

Such an enhancement to the Schaumburg dining scene! Hopscotch is this brilliant fusion of Indian and British tastes & themes. There are three bars on three different levels. Plenty of room for private dining and events. Daily dining specials from Executive Chef Martin Arellano. Stimulating. Uplifting art and Murals throughout. Love the British Pub Classics on the menu - very authentic! The food is truly beautifully prepared! And the gaming lounge in the basement is fun for all ages. A rather nice facility! Hopscotch is a pub and thus offers a limited menu, and we enjoyed the carrot starter dish and our cocktails. The fish and chips is haddock, which while delicious was not as battered and non-greasy as that in London.. The dessert menu was disappointingly limited. Service was rather good and, on a Friday evening during summer, the lower patio was packed. It is a nice place, clean and rather welcoming, with the best patio in Schaumburg - big and it doesn't overlook a parking lot! They charge a 3% surcharge, which can be waived upon request. The upstairs and ground level patios are notably nice and overall, it is a great addition to downtown Schaumburg. read more

I hate giving bad reviews but when you earn them I can only be honest. The food is awful. Two visits to try to be fair. Cold cottage pie filling on first visit, sour and gross mashed potatoes on the Bangers and Mashed with a bonus of the sausages being mealy and inedible on the second. Then there is the matter of the service: Very slow, not terribly attentive, and to make matters worse the check had over $50 in extra items charged that were not ours. I'd mention the highpoint which is the beautiful restaurant but the first visit they stuck us in a barren alcove that is where the band plays on the ground floor and the last time was in the basement (which is presently in a state between under construction and suburban dominatrix studio) though I give them a pass on the later as it was Knicks game 5 and world cup. Lastly, the bartenders seem to have issues making even the most common pub beverages. Black and Tan was off the menu and the Guinness head was more fresh army recruit than Fresh prince of bel aire. In summation: avoid this place and hope whatever replaces it is better. read more

This was such a let down! Restaurant has great theming and a lot of potential but doesn't look like it's catching on based on the sparse number of customers on Friday night. We had a reservation (not needed) and were asked where we wanted to sit. We suggested the upstairs terrace but were told that it wasn't staffed, so we sat on the outside terrace. This had a nice view of the square including some sort of swing dance lesson in the picnic pavilion. Their music clashed with the restaurant music. Drinks were tasty but prebatched so one of us was not able to sub gin for vodka. The duck fat chips appetizer was an extremely small portion for $22. Cheese curds were nearly non existent in this poutine dish. Cottage pie was again a very small portion. The peas and carrots were both undercooked and the gravy was more a broth lacking in a savory flavor you'd expect from this dish. Fish batter was heavier than I've had in the UK, but the flavor was okay. Bill included a 3.5% service fee AND a 3% credit card service charge, so we were looking at at least $40 per person, and the food just isn't that good. We thought we might try an after dinner cocktail, so we went downstairs to the gaming area. There are two golf sims and one batting cage. There was a kid playing in the batting cage, a few slot machines, a long table covered with dirty dishes, and an unstaffed bar. We went elsewhere to continue the night. read more

Day 2 of them opening. This is my first time here. Lots of space that needs to be filled. A high noon is $10, absolutely insane. A lot of the drinks are over priced. The appetizers are decently priced. They have a thc drink which is cool. The downstairs is cool. It has 2 golf simulators and one batting cage. A bar on each floor. Music needs to be louder and better. The top floor needs a dj. As well as music on the rooftop. Nice view but very bland on the patio. English bar but no darts???? Staff were good tho. We had a server named Sam, he was great. I had the triple cooked duck fat chips, basically poutine bone marrow gravy and the slow braised beef(beef was good), with fries it was good. Way too much salt tho! The hours of operation should be changed to closing at a later time like, 1:30am on the weekends. I'll be honest I don't think this place will last if they don't fix a lot of the things I'm talking about, especially the hours and prices for drinks. Here in Schaumburg we shouldn't be paying Chicago prices for drinks. I heard the owners also own 50/50 on division street. This isn't Chicago. Especially being one of the biggest new bars in Schaumburg prices should be reasonable for people to want to come back. Lots of potential. read more

Well, finally got in to check this place out. Boy! What a dissappointment. The whole inside is painted black, very depressing. I thought this was suppose to be a British Gastro Pub.....furthest thing from it. This more like every other sports bar out there. Nothing special. Drinks too pricey and half the menu not available. Opening weekend. So my first impression is that I really dislike the decor. Basically black walls and floor. When you think of a British pub you think of wood and richness. Nothing like that so wasn't decorated to go with the theme. Some murals in the first floor but really lacks effort and design. Next the food. Well just bad. Worst fish and chips ever. No flavor. How about using some salt and pepper at least. Huge piece of fish but came raw in the middle and not hot. Burger was terrible. Worst I've ever had. Completely dry both the bun and the meat. So if they want to survive they need to fix the kitchen. Drinks were ok. Need something more interesting on your cocktail menu. Basement has cricket and golf. What about darts in a British pub? Why wouldn't you have dart machines. Open weekend but it needs a lot of work. Bartenders were great though so that's something, good staff. read more
