I really struggled with deciding whether or not to give this three or four stars. Consider this a 3 1/2 star rating. To start, service was excellent! The cashier provided me with some general updates about the business, including them getting taps installed for beer. I had a lot of food to carry outside and she also helped me carry everything out without me needing to ask. I really appreciate that! The employee serving the food suggested that I order a whole pound of the beef rib since it is only offered on Saturdays. I had originally requested just 1/4lb of it to try and he said that I would only get a taste and suggested I get the whole rib. He also made additional recommendations for how to enjoy the leftovers. In total, here's what we ordered : one beef rib for $49.50, one beef brisket sandwich, one pulled pork sandwich, a large mac & cheese, a large collard greens, and a large potato salad. Total came to $120~, not including tip. I am highlighting the beef rib because I am honestly disappointed that I didn't speak up when I was at the restaurant. Our food was plated, and we went outside to eat. As soon as I cut into the beef rib, my boyfriend and I quickly realized that it was almost entirely fat (I'm adding the pic to this review)! Not only do I feel like I'm paying for the weight of the bone but now I feel like I got barely 1/4lb of meat and paid $50 for it. That truly felt like I was being taken advantage of. If there were specific items that were only available by the pound, they should also advertise it as such. But it was advertised that you could get smaller portions to try. Even with that being said, how can you possibly charge someone $50 for a pound of fat?! The sandwiches and sides themselves were different. They were all so good and incredibly flavorful. Both sandwiches were stacked with meat and they were not fatty at all. If I ever decide to return, I would not be getting the actual barbecued meat because I do not trust the quality of what I'm receiving. However, I would recommend the sandwiches. They are also in an affordable price, ranging from $15-$20. The sides are also reasonably priced - $5 for the small and $9 for the large.

I visited right before lunch time and wanted to try several items but they were out of sausages and tri-tip sandwiches so I had to pivot. I'll be back for those. Ended up ordering brisket, pulled pork, and several small sides (beans, potato salad, and mac & cheese) to share. The beans had large pieces of meat in it which was great. The potato salad tasted more egg-y than other potato salads and I liked that too! The barbecue sauce was more on the vinegar side which is different than usual and I loved it! If I had to critique something: I would have liked to have more pickled veggies included to match the proportion of meat. I was a bit surprised to have paid almost $100 but it ended up lasting a few meals and was delicious. The prices have gone up since the last menu pictures posted on yelp and are ~20% more than other chain barbecue places but can be justified by the fact that the Oakland location is rated Bib Gourmand on the Michelin guide. It definitely tasted good quality. The parking lot is meter enforced and there is very limited street parking.

I had high hopes for Horn Barbecue given the hype surrounding this place when it first opened up in Oakland. Maybe something changed after they moved to Lafayette, but it wasn't that good. Got there a little before opening since we were expecting a line, but there wasn't one. Ending up trying a few things: beef rib, brisket, pulled pork, cheddar sausage, pit beans. The pit beans had a lot of meat but were on the saltier side. Cheddar sausage was juicy and had a good bite. Pulled pork was good. Nicely seasoned, and the barbecue sauce paired nicely with it. Probably my favorite meat out of the ones I tried. The brisket and beef rib were on the drier side. I wish they were juicier. The brisket was tough. It wasn't a melt in your mouth type of meat that I expected. The staff are amazing. Super friendly and patient. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

Wow, we've added Horn BBQ to the short list of amazing places. To be clear, it won't be amazing to everyone. As the header states, rustic BBQ. Simple menu, no flash, just outstanding food. We waited about 20 minutes in line. The two guys serving food were engaging, personable, and truly loved their craft. The person who got us our sides was delightful as well. The meat is so tender, that for the brisket or pulled pork, it's kneaded or pulled (respectively). No knives for that. We had brisket sandwiches, ribs, cheesy potatoes and pit beans. All were delicious, but the beans were especially amazing. Louisiana Hot Sauce: yes, the right thing to do. Like any good BBQ, there are some process oddities. Why are the fountain drinks where everyone is in the queue? And perhaps a menu all could see in advance would speed up the line. And the rolls of napkins are not very convenient. That being said, who cares? It's a wonderful place. Like I said, some won't like it. For them, Sauced in Walnut Creek will be a better fit: totally ok food, ok service, ok experience. Horn BBQ, thanks for all that you do!

No line at all on a Sunday afternoon. As someone who's lived in Austin and can attest to top tier BBQ - this rivals Texas BBQ like no other spot I've tried in the Bay Area. Everything is good. Like everything. I'd say the brisket and ribs are the best meats but the beans are what really steal the show. Couldn't recommend enough

We went on a Friday afternoon, after 2pm - perfect timing for a relaxing and well attended experience. This location offers many tables and greets its patrons with nice choice of blues music. I had a brisket sandwich and my friend had the half chicken. Man, that sammie was tender, flavorful and satisfying. My friend said the chicken was yummy and tender as well. After we finished, we had the pleasure of meeting Matt and his brother afterwards and chatted a bit, reminiscing about the old Emeryville location (where I live). I miss it dearly, but luckily, this location isn't far. I will be visiting again! Looking forward to a decadent "wagyu-type" brisket offering :-)

Barbecue - they just opened the location and it's amazing . Mom and I came For a relaxed lunch , we ordered the brisket, pulled pork, potato salad, bread, pickles. They weigh everything and serve you . It was delicious and the brisket was so so tender ! 0 Potato salad was creamy and they added the pickled onions which were a perfect tangy!! **3.5 Stars** East Bay BBQ Fans of Texas-style BBQ have inevitably heard of Horn Barbecue based in Oakland and helmed by Pitmaster Matt Horn I've never been to the original location and have read tidbits about the recent press issues but decided to stop by one of their newer locations and try for myself The Lafayette space has been open a little less than a year (Dec 2024) and their Elk Grove location just opened (June 2025) with another fourth location already planned. It's clear Horn is doing well and in expansion mode. I stopped by for dinner and many items were sold out including the Beef Rib (Sat only), multiple sides, and banana cream pie. Luckily, they still had brisket (both fatty and lean), pork ribs and shredded pork Manning the station was Jordan Horn, the brother of Matt Horn and he was personable and funny talking about the expanding business and favorites of guests We sampled the fatty brisket, pork ribs, and pulled pork and had a side of mac 'n cheese. Everything was solid. The brisket was flavorful but would have loved it more moist and tender. Similar with the pork ribs. Pulled pork was similar to other places but definitely had to lean more into their supplied bbq sauce Admittedly, we came at end of day and the brisket had probably finished hours before. Jordan also gave some great pointers on how to order next time and I appreciate that. For barbeque fans, it's nice to have another option in East Bay (especially one that serves beef ribs) and not have to travel to Oakland. We drove from Campbell to try this place, as the desire to find quality BBQ is very strong. Sadly, we were somewhat disappointed. We arrived at 6 pm and they were announcing they didn't have any ribs left. We ordered 1lb of brisket ($40/lb), coleslaw, potato salad, and mac-n-cheese. The meat looks lovely but it didn't have any smokiness and it was somewhat dry. It wasn't tender even though it looked like it. Pouring more sauce on it didn't help much. The coleslaw was good. It had a nice vinegar/mustard flavor and was better than most we've had. We were thankful it wasn't thick with mayonnaise. The potato salad was pretty good too. It was creamy and the potato pieces were of good size. We would've liked some more onion and maybe a little less creamy. The mac-n-cheese was a disappointment. It was overcooked and the cheese mixture wasn't creamy nor flavorful. Finding good quality mac-n-cheese with real cheddar and a crisp top is hard to find. The staff is very nice but the interior is REALLY smokey. To the point of making our eyes water instantly. The chairs are the usual metal hard simple chairs and we had to eat outside due to the smoke inside. There were no paper towel rolls outside but at least we found seating. One disappointment is that they had their catering van in the handicap parking space and there was only one other in a higher level of the parking lot. We are quite picky about our bbq and this just didn't have a shining star with what we tried. For $40/lb, the expectation was pretty high and was not met. We left the restaurant and went for additional eating at The Hideout Kitchen.

I heard good things about this place. I really wanted to like it. Not saying that I was totally against it. The meat was delicious. Very tender, with good sauce. The greens were extremely salty. I couldn't even eat them. I did enjoy the potato salad and Mac n cheese. I was there shortly after opening hours. I wanted a brisket sandwich and was disappointed to learn they were out of buns. You will have to make sure you have time to spare. The service was not great at all. It became crowded fast! A very long line. Only one person taking orders, preparing the orders and cashing them out. There is plenty of seating, inside and outside. Food is priced by weight. Two ribs were $20. With a sausage, greens and beans the total was $50.

Came in on a Sunday afternoon looking for a hearty meal and were not disappointed. After looking at the menu for a little more than a split second, we were approached by someone behind counter asking if we needed help ordering. We showed them a picture we had seen in Yelp (by Eric G. - first yelp pic check it out) and lo and behold Eric served the platter of food himself. The food was excellent: full of flavor, so tender the meat fell off the bone. Two delicious sides: house greens and mac n cheese, both perfect compliments to the table of meats! Will definitely come back again, with friends and family. Make sure to try this incredible BBQ spot in Lafayette. P.S. they play great music and the outdoor seating makes for a great time!

Came here craving barbecue. You do have to pay for parking in their parking lot. The service is informative as it was a first time visit. Expensive for meat but that's expected. The ambiance was casual with tv playing in the background. Served fast and it was delicious for barbecue. Would recommend trying.

We arrived at 5PM on a Saturday. They were already out of brisket and pulled pork which we planned to order. Only ribs and chicken left. We got 1 beef rib and 3 pork ribs, no sides - our bill was almost $100 not including tip. Average of $25 per rib??? Ribs are sold by the pound so at least 60% of the weight is bones, not meat. While the meat on both the pork and beef ribs was very tasty, it was just too expensive for what we got. At least for us. Must be catering to all those rich folks in the Lafayette area. Online orders can be placed through DoorDash and picked up. read more

So there's always a line, but it's not because there are so many customers, but because service is so.....so slow! Took 35 minutes for being 7 in line mid afternoon. Got what everyone says it's the must try, ie the beef ribs. Yes, it was juicy, somewhat tasty, but also salty, but $23 for a single rib, it makes you wonder whether it's worth it! Best barbeque in California! I've been looking for good barbeque since I moved here in the late 90s. I've finally found it. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my son had the brisket sandwich. The meat was tender, there was just the right amount of bbq sauce and the portions were huge. We also tried the beans and Mac n cheese and wow! Loved the sides too. Can't wait go back. read more

Ahhhhhh... I gotta do it! I have to rate it. Where do I start? Well, let's begin with the 60-minute wait in line. I know what you are saying, that's a good thing. No, not even close (FYI! I know BBQ! I've eaten at most of the bay areas BBQ Joints, I smoke mine and grill mine, and so do my good friends that are great cooks/grill masters). Especially since I recently ate at Terry Black's in Austin, Texas. The Terry Black line is insane! I got lucky and timed it right. I was able to blow through quickly and get my BBQ- now, that BBQ is amazing!!! I was even told that that wasn't the best Texas had to offer- amazing anyway. Horn's, not so much! I will say that the service is excellent (people)!! The people behind the counter are fantastic! BUT understaffed based on spending at least four minutes per customer to get food. Again, the service was excellent once you made it to the front!! The line behind the counter-productivity was super slow. You can't have one person retrieving, cutting, and preparing each order - 3 to 4 minutes per customer. Secondly, the meat (Brisket, Sausage, Ribs) was good to pretty good, not outstanding (I had high hopes). The sides were ok. Mac&Cheese is good. Potato salad is just ok. The seating was good, with a choice of indoor and outdoor. Look, I still think a BBQ gap is missing in the Tri-Valley area. I don't believe there has been a solid spot since Bo's BBQ (located in the same place in the 90s) 27 years ago.Bounty Hunter opened and closed in Walnut Creek, and it couldn't replicate their Napa location (which has some very, very good BBQ). So, here we are again. I'm just keeping it real! Bottom line: Check this place out for yourself. It's not worth waiting in line, but it is worth your opinion if there is no line. How about that? I think Michelin recommended this spot a couple of years ago (while in Oakland), but I don't get that! I've eaten at many Michelin recommended places and or Michelin Starred- this isn't one. Just head to Everett and Jones (old school, but you know what you are getting, good Q and good sides) read more

Ok - Lafayette folks are you ready? So they weigh the meat. Big deal. You get what you pay for! We tried the pork short ribs (to die for), the brisket (perfectly moist with just the right amount of fat), their granny potatoes- dang! Please try them! Their mac N cheese was very good & I noticed from past reviews that everyone commented on their baked beans. Mother of G ...Just WOW! I think they're made with brown sugar & have huge delicious chunks of meat in them. Their sides are not weighed & their scoops were heaping off the bowls they came in. We told the server (who was very attentive to us & had great customer service) that it was our first time there & they even gave us a free hot sausage link on the house! Also- we wanted beer with our meal so they told us we could bring our food next door to Headlands Brewing Company to enjoy our meal & drink. So we did! I believe their beer/license coming shortly. Do NOT rely on the overall rating - it must be FAKE. The true rating is ZERO stars based on my experience. This place should be inspected by the health department. The lack of customers should have been a warning. Barely warm food that had been sitting in an open tub, marginal taste, served by someone who reached into the pulled pork with his hands, squished it into a ball to drain the grease, and plopped it onto a paper tray. I came in because of the reviews and was duped. No thank you. Horn BBQ will NEVER see me again. Waste of over $55. That's right, it is expensive too. Nah ah. Never again. read more

Horn is LEGIT bbq in Lafayette, after starting out life in Oakland. Excellent pork ribs, brisket and the sides (especially the baked beans) are incredible. Parking can be difficult but there's a lot behind and across the street. They do take out and have indoor plus outdoor seating. It's right next to Headlands Brewery so you can kill two birds with one stone and have a beer afterwards. We need more non-chain, local restaurants with authentic food. Go check them out! read more

I've eaten here a few times since the place opened and I always get the brisket and baked beans. Both are super yummy and I really love their bbq sauce. The place usually has a bit of a line but 1) what good place doesn't have a line? And 2) it goes pretty fast. The owner is super personable and you can tell he truly cares about his craft. read more

Finally made it to Horn BBQ and it did not disappoint! First off the vibe was super chill. Interior is nothing fancy, but simple just like I would expect from a good ole bbq spot. The menu, simple and easy to figure out. Meats that we ordered were: the beef rib, brisket, and a pulled pork sandwich. Sides that we ordered were: Mac n cheese, coleslaw, pit beans, and I think they were called grandma's potatoes (kind of like a cheesy potato casserole), and pork belly burnt ends. It was so hard to pick a favorite, everything was delicious! The beef rib was fall off the bone tender and flavorful! The brisket was cooked perfectly and had that perfect smoke ring! The pork belly was like meat candy, hard to stop eating! The pulled pork sandwich came with a nice soft roll and was smoky and delicious. None of the meats needed any sauce, they stood alone on flavor, however the sauce was the perfect combination of sweet, acid, and smoke. All of the sides were excellent! I will say I'm picky about my bbq beans but these were probably the best bbq pit beans I've had. I was also loving the potato casserole and Mac n cheese to complement the meats. Lastly the coleslaw had the perfect tang to cut through some of the sweet from the pork belly. Portions were generous so there was plenty to take home. We will definitely be back. A friend and I ordered half a pound of beef ribs and half a pound of brisket for the two of us. The sandwiches are quite reasonable but our mains with a side and a soda came in at $37 each, before tip. The ribs were truly outstanding, some of the best I've had. Big beautiful pieces of pepper perfectly applied throughout, a generous cut to boot. The brisket was just so-so, on the lean side and in need of some sauce. It also seemed like less than half a pound. I'll go back because the hope is the place is still working out the kinks. If I had to tell management one thing it would be that even though this is a bbq place ... no one really wants to catch the delta vibe by hearing the blues, at all, much less than for a full hour at pretty loud volumes at lunchtime. It's not just my opinion: the reason there are no blues clubs or radio stations is because no one likes it enough to listen to for more than 10 minutes or so. I highly recommend not yet more Classic Rock but, rather, some classic jazz (Oscar Peterson would be just right) at low volumes. It will make the "dine in" experience much more peaceful. read more

We went to Horn barbecue on a Thursday. There's limited outdoor seating. It rained that day so it didn't matter. In general, seating is limited. We all had the barbecue chicken. It was delicious. VERY moist. As moist as you can get a fully cooked bird. Good portions. Very mild smoked flavor. The barbecue sauce is excellent. We had the mac-n-cheese, coleslaw and potato salad. All were excellent. There's potential for the place to be noisy but it was quite when we were there, presumably because everyone was enjoying their food. Not everyone had the same thing. You can't go wrong with the chicken, coleslaw and the mac-n-cheese. Worth a try. Staff is very friendly. read more

OK y'all, I'm fine with some of your lower star reviews. But I'm just gonna say that my good friend J-Bristle grew up in the South, and he's been searching for good BBQ in the Bay Area for 25 years. He says Horn is the real deal (and then he says he can't wait to show me the pits of Memphis). So yeah, the private paid parking all over Lafayette is a pain, but there is ample free street parking up and down Mount Diablo Blvd so stop whinging about that, people. The sandwiches on brioche bun are loaded and with a side they make a whole meal. Are the smoky meats pricy? Yup, and ya gets whut ya pay for. Brisket: The wifey loves it and likes the straightforward sauce that's served up. Yes, only one sauce need be served up at Horn. Hot link: Juicy, smoky, not too spicy, so put your own hot sauce on it if you want . Pork ribs: Juicy, crazy flavorful, and oh so much better than the previous 2 iterations of 'cue that were in this same restaurant space before. Pulled pork: So tasty. Can be dry in places, so don't forget the sauce. Sides: A tie btwn beans (cooked w/ real pork cuts ) and creamy creamy macNcheese. What I would like to see in the future at this place: 1.) please make more collard greens... The two Sundays I have visited, you have been out. I loves me some pot likker n greens. 2.) What if you made fresh brewed sweet tea? 3.) It seems you are trying to stick to your culinary roots, but pls put out some vegetarian options besides the sides so that we can bring the whole family. I had the pleasure of experiencing Horn Barbecue in their fantastic catering provided for the "Cookout at the Vineyard" hosted in Napa on June 21, 2025. The brisket was absolutely mouthwatering, the chicken was crisp and juicy and the sides were just as amazing! Our family came here for Father's Day to support a black owned business as we do every year. The food was outstanding and the customer service was even better. I love Texas style BBQ and this is place is legit. The brisket was super tender and seasoned very well. Ribs were cooked perfectly and we tried all the sides. They were all very flavorful but the Mac and Cheese and beans were my favorites! Will definitely be back. read more

With my fourth try of Horn (and after trying all their meats and most of their sides), I decided to ONLY order the ribs to go. I found the sides to be less than the quality I am used to. I will say that the ribs were cooked great with fall off the bone meat and great smoke flavor. The sauce wasn't up to the quality of the meat. I ended up using sauce from Sauced in Walnut Creek to complement the ribs. Good ribs, but not worth a return trip. read more

We usually go to Horn's BBQ in Oakland but discovered the Lafayette location. We are so happy that we did since we travel from SJ! We don't just travel for the food which is by far the BEST bbq in the Bay but for the service too! Jordan one of the co-owners or Nate is going to take care of you when it comes to the meat. Walker or Conrad assist with sides and Molly tops it off at the register. They make you feel like family when you walk in. Our favs are the beef ribs, links, and granny potatoes. The lines here are awful. Got there 30 mins after opening. We were 8th in line. One person carving the meat and we even watched her delivering food to customers while the 3 others were only at their stations. It took an hour for us to get to the front of the line where we then had to watch them fulfill 4 to go orders before taking ours. It was another 30 mins we stood at the front of the line before our order was taken. They should have more than 1 carver and 1 person who is dedicated to take out orders. By the time we ate our food, someone else did show up to carve and the line moved quickly. The food was good. But not 1.5 hours standing in line good. Not worth coming back unless they have more than 1 carver earlier in the day. read more

Food was good but I came around 5pm and they had sold out of most things except brisket and pulled pork. Pricing is definitely premium but given the line out the door, people must feel it is deserved. And the line was quite long as the checkout process by which they cut and weigh the meat moves slowly. I hope they can find a faster way to do this as there are definitely ways they can speed up the line. Food taste was good, but my order of brisket has a very large end piece of fat (see picture). I know briaket is fatty but this was a chunk of all fat. Sadly I paid top dollar for this as it was quite hefty and inedible. My feedback would be for managers to ensure chunks of fat are cut out and not passed on to their customers. read more

Will we get good or mediocre drinks today? Will our drinks be accurate or would we need to spend some more time to get our drinks fixed? Always a gamble, but hey, I do love to gamble (usually in a different setting lol). Sometimes the drinks are really good. The ones I've had the most consistencies are their house milk tea and their tropical fruit tea. Recommendation is to order everything as-is since if things (such as sugar level) are adjusted, it's most likely watered down. Luckily the drinks aren't way too sweet, but still a bit sweeter than I'd like, and I'd prefer a bit more tea flavor. My daughter has been big on their Thai tea, but after some inconsistencies with flavor, she's switched to their matcha horchata drink. Pretty good, and they have other kinds of drinks like that too. My son likes the house milk tea with lychee jelly, and the husband enjoys the Oreo drinks here, but they don't taste right in my opinion. I like their house milk tea, jasmine milk tea, tropical fruit tea, and once a while, their ube taro drink. On the safe side, I normally stick with tropical tea and house milk tea at this location. Props to Lilikoi for having some "unique" drinks such as mango almighty (mango smoothie with tajin and chamoy), various horchata drinks, and more. They seem to specialize more in the tropical fruit teas, so highly recommend for those.

Since I went close to when they first opened, I thought they would get the kinks worked out so I wanted to try again before I judged. I came today (2/4/2025) after a doctor's appointment. I noticed they have ube coffee on the menu. Unfortunately, the employees told me they were out of ube. I ordered the Thai milk tea with no ice at 50% sweet. Given the heavy rain and cold weather, I asked if they could make the drink hot and they said they don't do hot drinks. Really? Every boba spot I've been to in the 4.5 years I've lived in Contra Costa County - including Sharetea, Mr. Green Bubble, Teaspoon, and Yi Fang - offer hot drinks. Everywhere EXCEPT Lilikoi. As for the drink itself, I could taste the Thai tea flavor somewhat but it seemed a bit watered down. I've had better Thai milk tea elsewhere. The drink cost $5, which is less compared to other boba spots. But I'd rather pay a bit more for drinks that don't tasted watered down. I don't think I'll return, even if in the area.

Horn BBQ in Lafayette, CA, is a fantastic new spot that I highly recommend. However, I didn't give it 5 stars solely because the one-hour wait was a bit excessive. An hour-plus wait time shouldn't be the norm. To make matters worse, about 30 minutes into our wait, we were informed that they had run out of brisket and spare ribs. Despite this disappointing news, my wife and I decided to stick around, and as a result, the line shrank, allowing us to move up by ten spots. My wife, who is pregnant, found a table to sit at while I waited in line. The service here is truly A+. Several staff members checked on her regularly, asking if she needed water and how she was feeling. It was heartwarming to see them take turns ensuring she was comfortable while I stood in line. One downside was that there was only one food preparer on duty, despite having ample counter space for more staff. This made me wonder why it took so long to get through the line! When I finally reached the preparer, the entire process--from placing my order to sitting down--took less than 5 minutes. Now, onto the food! I ordered the beef rib, which weighed in at a whopping 1.55 lbs. However, I feel like they should deduct the bone weight from the overall price of $35 per pound they charge for meat. My wife opted for the tri-tip sandwich, and we both got potato salad. I added another side of mac & cheese to my order. It's worth noting that a small side can easily be shared between two or more people, and the serving sizes are quite generous! We left feeling full for the rest of the day--almost uncomfortably full--but it was definitely worth it. I look forward to coming back for some brisket next time! If you're willing to take on the hour wait time and want to save some money, I recommend trying a link and one side; even the links are huge! I was extremely excited to try the new Horn Barbecue location in Lafayette, as I've never had the chance to visit the original Oakland spot. With all the hype surrounding this Bay Area favorite and its celebrity chef, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, the quality of the food fell short. I ordered the brisket and beef ribs, opting to focus solely on the meat without any sides. Starting with the positives, the beef rib was soft and tender, with perfectly rendered fat and seasoning that was spot on. However, the biggest issue was how dry it was--there was virtually no beefy juice to speak of, which completely overshadowed its good qualities. The brisket had similar problems. While the slice of the point had great smoke, seasoning, and perfectly rendered fat, it was also far too dry to enjoy. Given that I was the only customer at the time, I suspect that I may have been served day-old meat. As someone who has cooked brisket and beef ribs before, I know it's rare for such fatty cuts to lose their juices unless reheated or improperly stored. While the food wasn't worth the calories, I will say the location and ambience itself were nice and clean, with plenty of parking. The staff were friendly, which was appreciated. Extremely disappointed with my visit to this BBQ joint during what should have been their peak lunch hour. At 12:30 PM, with barely any customers present, they didn't have any of most of their advertised meats. Their menu didn't even have a big variety of options to start with some of which included ribs and tri-tip, but they only had two meat choices available when we arrived. The disconnect between their advertised menu and actual offerings is frustrating and feels like false advertising. To make matters worse, they don't even serve beer - a staple at most BBQ establishments. For a BBQ restaurant, the limited selection and lack of basic amenities makes it hard to justify a visit. Management needs to seriously improve their inventory planning and better align their menu with what they can actually provide to customers. Until they get their operation in order, I can't recommend this place. Save yourself the disappointment and find another spot for your BBQ fix. read more

We visited approximately 45 minutes after opening. Mac and cheese was visibly from the day before. They were unwrapping the meat from plastic and foil, it also appeared to be from the previous day. They "ran out" of pork ribs, 45 minutes after opening they didn't have chicken. No other sides were present. The restaurant want extremely hot and full of smoke. Definitely a disappointment to say the least. I forgot to add that we waited in line for over 20 minutes before we reached the counter to be advised that they pretty much had nothing we wanted. This place is great, i've been a few times now and Lafayette is lucky to have Horn BBQ. Parking is easy, the restaurant is great, and everyone who works there is super inviting. And then there's the food, it's excellent! I haven't had a chance to try *everything* on the menu yet but i've gotten through maybe 1/2 of it. Brisket, pork and beef ribs, chicken, most of the sides - they're all excellent. The meat is tender and deeply smoky, the bread has just enough toast to hold everything together, and the jalapeño sauce cuts through the richness without announcing itself too loudly. Nothing is fighting for attention. Nothing is there because someone thought the sandwich needed "one more thing." The ratios are dead-on. And maybe my favorite part--it eats clean. No six-inch tower of meat collapsing into your lap. No river of sauce running down your arm. Just a properly constructed sandwich that tastes like someone actually thought about how you're supposed to eat the damn thing. I inhaled it in roughly 45 seconds. Friendly people. Great BBQ. They truly know good BBQ. I got To finally try their homemade green jalepeno sauce, it's sooo good with just enough kick without it being overly spicy. Their homemade BBQ sauce is just as good, with just the right of sweet and smokey flavor. I also got to try their coleslaw, and they have the perfect mixture of tangy and sweet as well.. not overly tangy and just perfect! Honestly every time I get their food it just gets better and better. I'm so glad they are neighbors and so generous to share their amazing recipes for everyone to enjoy. I ended up throwing the entire meal away. This was really disappointing, I think that anyone handling food should be wearing proper head coverings, like a scrub cap, to prevent contamination.
