My husband and I got an iced oat milk mocha and a hot taro oat milk latte and a chocolate cream cheese muffin. The mocha was good, creamy oat milk, light/medium sweetness that we like. The muffin was ok, a little dry but sorta balanced with the cream cheese. But the Taro latte was the star of our choices today in my opinion. Instantly taste the taro and creaminess. Location is key. Aside from that, the coffee is fairly basic, with a bitter, chemical aftertaste. Asian ice cream shop features their typical baked fish atop purple ice cream. The downtown location is excellent, with easy access from the strip and nearby restaurants. The shop itself is relatively small with two entrances. I haven't tried their ice cream or taiyaki desserts yet since I've just been here in the mornings, but they look great. I've just tried a variety of their coffee drinks and enjoyed them all. Downside is the priciness of plant based milks, but that's a standard at most places nowadays... end price is still compatible to other coffee places. I started by getting their cappuccinos and lattes, and they can even put some cocoa powder on top of the latte. Somehow this added something amazing to it, and I was hooked. The hot months came about, and I started ordering their ice blended drinks. The husband enjoys their Mexican mochas and mint chocolate frappes. I'm mostly simple when it comes to coffee and I love their regular latte frost, which is a blended coffee that isn't way too sweet. Whipped cream doesn't come with by default, so I request that since I'm a whipped cream addict. The owners here are really nice too. Always had pleasant interactions here. The storefront itself- somehow both dark and bright on the inside, plenty of seating across and seats on the outside as well. They also have pastries and other food items. They also have boba drinks too, which my kids have tried. They liked them, but weren't too fond of the toppings. They haven't asked to return here for boba unfortunately, but that's ok (for my wallet). Great variety of stuff here, but I keep coming back for their coffee. read more

Papillon is a cozy, mom-and-pop cafe that shares its store space with Uji Time. They offer decent coffee and friendly service. Their menu features a variety of teas, lattes, mochas, matcha, chai, Italian sodas, protein smoothies, regular smoothies, and even lemonade - something for everyone and every mood and every occasion :) Came here for the first time to catch up with a friend and Papillon was the perfect backdrop. They have plenty of seating indoors and out. We personally didn't take advantage of the outdoor seating since it was raining but other customers with dogs did and stayed dry under the awning. I got a cold brew and my friend got a mocha with some sort of cinnamon cake. The cold brew itself was just okay but what really stood out to me was the service! It seems like they don't have customers serve themselves cream and sugar... I wish they had some cream or half-half or sugar/splenda packets, etc. on the side for customers, but I didn't see any. Regardless, they were gracious enough to give me a little side cup of cream so problem solved anyways. Not sure if it was the time of day we went, but there were unfortunately very limited pastry options. I would have loved to see more cakes, muffins, brownies, and the like but I can only assume they sold out by the time we came. Bathroom was clean. Tables were a little dirty. Would have wished a staff member went around to clean tables more frequently but honestly no biggie. Would definitely stop by if I'm in the area again! It's a cute coffee cafe that also serves Boba Teas and and even Ube ice cream. They feature local authors and lots of sitting area inside and out. Both gentlemen who made our drinks and served our snacks were polite and friendly. Excellent service all around. Great coffee spot in Lafayette! Came here with one of my new Yelp friends as that's her favorite spot. Although today was my first time having coffee at Papillon, I realized that I had been to this location a few years ago when Uji Time first started selling soft serve there. I had a soy sugar free vanilla latte, which was just as tasty as I expected. Service was friendly and fast. There were plenty of tables available and it wasn't super crowded. Only downside was that the screens on some of the meters aren't visible. Not Papillon's fault but it just took a little more time to park than I would have liked. I noticed they sell boba so maybe I'll try that next time. Whether it's boba, coffee, or soft serve, we will be back! read more

After seeing a post about a new treat in Lafayette, we made our way for a sweet mid afternoon treat today. Hubby got a medium mocha as he says it's always good here. It didn't disappoint. I went for the taiyaki with the matcha vanilla swirl and red bean filling. It's a fun presentation with the ice cream filling the mouth of the fish. The taiyaki is a bit crispy on the outside with some chewiness inside. Mine had a crack so some leakage while eating but I survived! What I don't like is you have to eat it pretty quickly because it's soft serve. Real world problems, LOL! It's not cheap okay. $7 and .50 for the red bean filling. Would I go out of my way, no. If someone said, let's go get one, sure. I'm happy to see more Asian snacks in this town. There is also boba at Lilliqoi on Mt Diablo Blvd. All the town needs now is ramen or dumplings. I got a lox salmon on a sesame bagel with just cream cheese, lox and bagel. It wasn't anything special but it was pleasing to the belly. I also got a passion fruit boba tea without boba and it was very watery. Very disappointed, as a pearls/tapioca/boba connoisseur - my expectations are standard I feel like. We stopped into Papillon Quality Gourmet Coffees as the first stop of our Lafayette stroll. While the service was prompt, my iced tea tasted overly sweet and odd. Like it had been brewed a few days back and then kept in a plastic container with other food in the same fridge. I ended up only having a few sips before I threw it out. Papillon had a nice restroom, but I wasn't a fan of their tea and the honey wasn't a fan of their matcha so we likely won't return. read more

Gayle and I met a friend of hers here for some refreshment and good conversation. We sat outside on a nice day last Saturday and spend a nice half hour together catching up. This place is great! I was looking for a tea house to take my mom to for an early Mother's Day. I looked up a few in the surrounding areas and found this place. I looked for hot herbal teas which my mom enjoys and they seemed to have a nice wide selection. I also saw pictures and in the images there were tables and it looked like it was an open space so I really liked that. We went there in the morning around 9. My mom enjoyed a chocolate dipped coconut dessert and I had a chocolate muffin. My mom had Earl Grey tea and I got an English Breakfast tea with milk inside. The gentleman that took our order was very kind and helpful. The woman who seems to be there on a regular basis (I took my husband there on his birthday, as well) makes and serves the drinks. She is nice and very helpful, as well. They serve boba and the teriyaki ice cream cones if anyone is interested in those. I still have to go back to try their red velvet mocha and their affogato. Last time when I took my husband as a birthday surprise, I got the mint chocolate frappe (I think that's what it was) and a hot green tea. I took a picture of one of their decorations because I liked it and I knew my little one would, too. It's yellow flowers with a tiny bird sitting on one of the flowers/stems. They also have a super cute bamboo plant. It's in a little window area between two parts of the tea house. There's lots of seating, both on the inside and outside. If you get there early enough you won't have to pay for parking. There are meters that begin charging you at 10am. read more

When I think of going into a cafe for a cold drink, I want to be somewhere welcoming and comfortable. It was 100 degrees outside and felt even hotter inside the cafe!! No air conditioning to speak of, and the fan was moving so slow. It was miserable in there! The matcha soft serve tasted like spoiled milk with a hint of matcha. I'm pretty sure the milk in it had gone bad. Either it was left out in the heat before going in the machine, or it was old. They immediately refunded me when I complained. My husband got the boba, which was in a plastic cup that wouldn't seal at the top. Every time we would try to drink from it, the whole thing would open and spill from the top. And in general, it just wasn't good. Not creamy or delicious! This place is overpriced and needs to work on their ambiance and food/drink. read more
