ANOTHER LOCATION - HE'S BACK I ate at the original location at West Oakland about four years ago. During my only time eating there I had the best BBQ experience ever. The spareribs tasted like pork candy. The brisket melted in my mouth. The sausage had that snap when you took a bite. When the West Oakland location closed I ate at the Old Oakland location twice. Both times I had two subpar meals. I was disappointed because the best BBQ I ever had was at Horn Barbecue in West Oakland. I wasn't sure if I was going to come back to Horn Barbecue again. What changed? I got an inKind app, which included a $25 reward. Also I decided to give the Lafayette location a try. The first time I came here was on a Saturday night in March. Beef ribs are available on Saturdays only, but when I got to the front of the line they were out. Also sold out was the beef sausage. What I ate consisted of large coleslaw, 1 lb of pork ribs, 1 lb of brisket, and cheddar sausage. My initial taste of the pork ribs reminded me of the experience I had at the West Oakland location. The brisket was moist and the cheddar sausage had the snap. The next time I came to back to this location was the following Saturday during St. Patrick's Day weekend at 11:00 AM. I wanted the beef rib. I was able to get a beef rib that weighed almost two pounds. In addition I decided to get a pulled pork sandwich. I am not a fan of pulled pork because it tends to be stringy and dry. At Horn Barbecue not only did I get a fatty portion of the pulled pork but also the drizzle of the BBQ sauce. As someone who hates pulled pork the pulled pork sandwich at Horn Barbecue is the best pulled pork I ever had. I was impressed with the pork ribs, beef rib, and pulled pork. What about the chicken? I came here on a weekday for half chicken. Maybe this is not fair but the best BBQ chickens I've eaten were in Hawaii. The half chickens I've eaten at Horn Barbecue are smoky and flavorful but not as juicy as the huli-huli chickens I ate in Hawaii. Even though I enjoyed my multiple visits at this location I couldn't give this place a 5-star rating because my first and only visit at original location was special.

I really struggled with deciding whether or not to give this three or four stars. Consider this a 3 1/2 star rating. To start, service was excellent! The cashier provided me with some general updates about the business, including them getting taps installed for beer. I had a lot of food to carry outside and she also helped me carry everything out without me needing to ask. I really appreciate that! The employee serving the food suggested that I order a whole pound of the beef rib since it is only offered on Saturdays. I had originally requested just 1/4lb of it to try and he said that I would only get a taste and suggested I get the whole rib. He also made additional recommendations for how to enjoy the leftovers. In total, here's what we ordered : one beef rib for $49.50, one beef brisket sandwich, one pulled pork sandwich, a large mac & cheese, a large collard greens, and a large potato salad. Total came to $120~, not including tip. I am highlighting the beef rib because I am honestly disappointed that I didn't speak up when I was at the restaurant. Our food was plated, and we went outside to eat. As soon as I cut into the beef rib, my boyfriend and I quickly realized that it was almost entirely fat (I'm adding the pic to this review)! Not only do I feel like I'm paying for the weight of the bone but now I feel like I got barely 1/4lb of meat and paid $50 for it. That truly felt like I was being taken advantage of. If there were specific items that were only available by the pound, they should also advertise it as such. But it was advertised that you could get smaller portions to try. Even with that being said, how can you possibly charge someone $50 for a pound of fat?! The sandwiches and sides themselves were different. They were all so good and incredibly flavorful. Both sandwiches were stacked with meat and they were not fatty at all. If I ever decide to return, I would not be getting the actual barbecued meat because I do not trust the quality of what I'm receiving. However, I would recommend the sandwiches. They are also in an affordable price, ranging from $15-$20. The sides are also reasonably priced - $5 for the small and $9 for the large.

I visited right before lunch time and wanted to try several items but they were out of sausages and tri-tip sandwiches so I had to pivot. I'll be back for those. Ended up ordering brisket, pulled pork, and several small sides (beans, potato salad, and mac & cheese) to share. The beans had large pieces of meat in it which was great. The potato salad tasted more egg-y than other potato salads and I liked that too! The barbecue sauce was more on the vinegar side which is different than usual and I loved it! If I had to critique something: I would have liked to have more pickled veggies included to match the proportion of meat. I was a bit surprised to have paid almost $100 but it ended up lasting a few meals and was delicious. The prices have gone up since the last menu pictures posted on yelp and are ~20% more than other chain barbecue places but can be justified by the fact that the Oakland location is rated Bib Gourmand on the Michelin guide. It definitely tasted good quality. The parking lot is meter enforced and there is very limited street parking.

I had high hopes for Horn Barbecue given the hype surrounding this place when it first opened up in Oakland. Maybe something changed after they moved to Lafayette, but it wasn't that good. Got there a little before opening since we were expecting a line, but there wasn't one. Ending up trying a few things: beef rib, brisket, pulled pork, cheddar sausage, pit beans. The pit beans had a lot of meat but were on the saltier side. Cheddar sausage was juicy and had a good bite. Pulled pork was good. Nicely seasoned, and the barbecue sauce paired nicely with it. Probably my favorite meat out of the ones I tried. The brisket and beef rib were on the drier side. I wish they were juicier. The brisket was tough. It wasn't a melt in your mouth type of meat that I expected. The staff are amazing. Super friendly and patient. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

Wow, we've added Horn BBQ to the short list of amazing places. To be clear, it won't be amazing to everyone. As the header states, rustic BBQ. Simple menu, no flash, just outstanding food. We waited about 20 minutes in line. The two guys serving food were engaging, personable, and truly loved their craft. The person who got us our sides was delightful as well. The meat is so tender, that for the brisket or pulled pork, it's kneaded or pulled (respectively). No knives for that. We had brisket sandwiches, ribs, cheesy potatoes and pit beans. All were delicious, but the beans were especially amazing. Louisiana Hot Sauce: yes, the right thing to do. Like any good BBQ, there are some process oddities. Why are the fountain drinks where everyone is in the queue? And perhaps a menu all could see in advance would speed up the line. And the rolls of napkins are not very convenient. That being said, who cares? It's a wonderful place. Like I said, some won't like it. For them, Sauced in Walnut Creek will be a better fit: totally ok food, ok service, ok experience. Horn BBQ, thanks for all that you do!

No line at all on a Sunday afternoon. As someone who's lived in Austin and can attest to top tier BBQ - this rivals Texas BBQ like no other spot I've tried in the Bay Area. Everything is good. Like everything. I'd say the brisket and ribs are the best meats but the beans are what really steal the show. Couldn't recommend enough

We went on a Friday afternoon, after 2pm - perfect timing for a relaxing and well attended experience. This location offers many tables and greets its patrons with nice choice of blues music. I had a brisket sandwich and my friend had the half chicken. Man, that sammie was tender, flavorful and satisfying. My friend said the chicken was yummy and tender as well. After we finished, we had the pleasure of meeting Matt and his brother afterwards and chatted a bit, reminiscing about the old Emeryville location (where I live). I miss it dearly, but luckily, this location isn't far. I will be visiting again! Looking forward to a decadent "wagyu-type" brisket offering :-)

Barbecue - they just opened the location and it's amazing . Mom and I came For a relaxed lunch , we ordered the brisket, pulled pork, potato salad, bread, pickles. They weigh everything and serve you . It was delicious and the brisket was so so tender ! 0 Potato salad was creamy and they added the pickled onions which were a perfect tangy!! Loved it so much and will will be back !

**3.5 Stars** East Bay BBQ Fans of Texas-style BBQ have inevitably heard of Horn Barbecue based in Oakland and helmed by Pitmaster Matt Horn I've never been to the original location and have read tidbits about the recent press issues but decided to stop by one of their newer locations and try for myself The Lafayette space has been open a little less than a year (Dec 2024) and their Elk Grove location just opened (June 2025) with another fourth location already planned. It's clear Horn is doing well and in expansion mode. I stopped by for dinner and many items were sold out including the Beef Rib (Sat only), multiple sides, and banana cream pie. Luckily, they still had brisket (both fatty and lean), pork ribs and shredded pork Manning the station was Jordan Horn, the brother of Matt Horn and he was personable and funny talking about the expanding business and favorites of guests We sampled the fatty brisket, pork ribs, and pulled pork and had a side of mac 'n cheese. Everything was solid. The brisket was flavorful but would have loved it more moist and tender. Similar with the pork ribs. Pulled pork was similar to other places but definitely had to lean more into their supplied bbq sauce Admittedly, we came at end of day and the brisket had probably finished hours before. Jordan also gave some great pointers on how to order next time and I appreciate that. For barbeque fans, it's nice to have another option in East Bay (especially one that serves beef ribs) and not have to travel to Oakland. We drove from Campbell to try this place, as the desire to find quality BBQ is very strong. Sadly, we were somewhat disappointed. We arrived at 6 pm and they were announcing they didn't have any ribs left. We ordered 1lb of brisket ($40/lb), coleslaw, potato salad, and mac-n-cheese. The meat looks lovely but it didn't have any smokiness and it was somewhat dry. It wasn't tender even though it looked like it. Pouring more sauce on it didn't help much. The coleslaw was good. It had a nice vinegar/mustard flavor and was better than most we've had. We were thankful it wasn't thick with mayonnaise. The potato salad was pretty good too. It was creamy and the potato pieces were of good size. We would've liked some more onion and maybe a little less creamy. The mac-n-cheese was a disappointment. It was overcooked and the cheese mixture wasn't creamy nor flavorful. Finding good quality mac-n-cheese with real cheddar and a crisp top is hard to find. The staff is very nice but the interior is REALLY smokey. To the point of making our eyes water instantly. The chairs are the usual metal hard simple chairs and we had to eat outside due to the smoke inside. There were no paper towel rolls outside but at least we found seating. One disappointment is that they had their catering van in the handicap parking space and there was only one other in a higher level of the parking lot. We are quite picky about our bbq and this just didn't have a shining star with what we tried. For $40/lb, the expectation was pretty high and was not met. We left the restaurant and went for additional eating at The Hideout Kitchen.

I heard good things about this place. I really wanted to like it. Not saying that I was totally against it. The meat was delicious. Very tender, with good sauce. The greens were extremely salty. I couldn't even eat them. I did enjoy the potato salad and Mac n cheese. I was there shortly after opening hours. I wanted a brisket sandwich and was disappointed to learn they were out of buns. You will have to make sure you have time to spare. The service was not great at all. It became crowded fast! A very long line. Only one person taking orders, preparing the orders and cashing them out. There is plenty of seating, inside and outside. Food is priced by weight. Two ribs were $20. With a sausage, greens and beans the total was $50.

Came here craving barbecue. You do have to pay for parking in their parking lot. The service is informative as it was a first time visit. Expensive for meat but that's expected. The ambiance was casual with tv playing in the background. Served fast and it was delicious for barbecue. Would recommend trying.

I've always wanted to try Horn bbq but the Oakland location was never convenient for me and the lines were always crazy long! I was so excited when I found out on opening day they moved to my neighborhood. By the time I got there at 6pm they were sold out. So I scheduled my lunch for when they opened so I could be first in line. By 11:45 there were already about 15 people ahead of me in line, by 12:25 I was paying for my food. Which in my opinion isn't bad because they just officially opened yesterday and it's days before Christmas. The restaurant is super bustling on the inside, but they have plenty of patio seating. I ordered 3 ribs (1lb $30) and half a pound of brisket (~$18) and a small sides of mac&cheese and pit beans ($4 ea). Details on food, Pit beans: really rich with a tang to it, Mac&cheese: was made casserole style with a slight kick, it was soo good so next time large is a must! Spare Ribs: very flavorful and they literally fall apart. Prime Brisket: super juicy, with a nice fat cap The only downside is that you have to scoot through by the front of the line to get a fountain drink or bbq sauce togo. Overall, I believe this worth the wait to try at least once but I'll definitely be back. read more

The ribs...another kiss. The pulled pork...I was drooling. And the beans....OMG!!! Maybe some of the best beans I ever had. And the Mac n cheese was cheesy & made to perfection! Horn BBQ is the real deal! I DoorDashed them twice now, and both times the food was fire. Everything was fresh and service was fast!! The first time, I got the brisket sandwich--absolute torch! The meat was perfectly smoked, juicy, and packed with flavor. The second time, I went for the hot link and ribs, and they did not disappoint. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the authentic BBQ flavor was on point. Best part? The price! I got all this for under $20 delivered--cheaper than McDonald's and way better quality. Arriving, parking is pretty limited and you have to pay for parking. Word of advice if you have a small party, just pay for one hour. That will suffice. As soon as you get out of your car, you will smell BBQ. Yummy! Inside the restaurant there was a large amount of flies; obviously they smelled what we smelled. Just not a fan of flies; so I had to mention, but not a deal breaker Menu is pretty simple and serves meats by the pound. I came for the brisket and my wife wanted the ribs. Not much of a pulled pork fan but wanted to try. It was one of the better ones I have tasted. Brisket and ribs were soft and moist. Mac and cheese was pretty creamy and tasty. So...... slow. Joined the line at 12:09 (9 min after opening), 3 people ahead of us and still it took us over an hr to order our food and pay. This place is not doing well. I've come here several times and they seem to never have chicken or sausage. Today, Saturday, January 10 there were no sides, except for I think collard greens. There was one guy working at the meat counter and the register. He was doing his best. Another guy came out from the back to check the smoker and was extremely unhappy. It seems they've got a problem keeping employees. Seems that they also have a problem with morale. Seems they also have a problem with keeping things in stock. I know that Horn opened another place in Sacramento area?? right after they opened this Lafayette one. Maybe they should've made sure this place was doing well before they did that. I don't think I'll be back. Too bad because the food is good. Also, their alcohol license has been suspended. there's a big sign on the door. read more

Amazing food and service! Some of the best bbq I have ever had and you need to get the beans somehow they made them sweet savory and have a little bit of heat at the same time. We came right near closing time and there was one big piece of brisket left and they crafted it to perfection. Juicy brisket was an understatement. The meat was falling apart as I tried to transfer it to my plate. Sides were also favorable. Beans, greens, and mac&cheese all satisfied. Service was great. Good vibes all around and an amazing meal. I'll be back to this location again. It's worth a 15 minute walk from BART. We walked over next door for a few brews. The location couldn't be better for Horn. One last thing: stop ordering sandwiches. Just get the meat. You'll be more than happy read more

MAYBE... Tastey or WasteY??? A bit of both. Our first visit. It was a 6 1/2 out of a 10. I have eaten barbecue all over the US. From Texas, to St. Louis, and all over California. We ordered the brisket sandwich. It was so heavily salted and so heavy in sauce that it was overwhelming. There was way too much meat on two thin little pieces of hamburger bun that you could get from the grocery store. I like to taste the bread with the brisket. Although the service was great., the atmosphere was a little dull, and there wasn't much of a barbecue type environment. In fact, it was almost like eating in a cold lunchroom. The potato salad was excellent, and, the spare ribs were so good. The other thing that is my biggest criticism is... people that love barbecue, love to have a choice of barbecue sauces. From mild too hot to super hot and spicy. I probably won't go back there because they only give you one sauce. People like to have a choice. It's just like a chicken McNugget they have a variety of sauces which makes it great.Add some sauces to the menu. read more

Horn BBQ has become a bay area staple. Had the opportunity to taste that family recipe smokehouse bbq way back when they opened in Oakland. And I am so glad they have expanded out to Lafayette (near me) and Sacramento. The menu is straightforward, simple, easy to navigate. Customer service is awesome and welcoming. Ambience space is plentiful. Bbq pork ribs and briskets are juicy tender, flavorful. Hotlinks, and sides excellent. Bbq beef ribs (saturdays). A 1/2- 1lb is plenty for a couple to devour, but we ordered 3lbs for the full effect. Highly recommend! Thanks Jordan Horn for making sure we enjoyed every bite! read more

There's something special and unique every time I come to Horn. It's starts with standing in the line. Silly as that sounds, you just start to feel the vibe. Every time I've come I see the people in front ordering with excitement or anticipation in their expressions. Then it's my turn, and every time I'm met with presents and a genuine passion from Matt. The smile gets me every time. The food is amazing, just wish the beef ribs were available more days than just Saturday. I think that's the only I have yet to taste. Quick note* If I have a sweater or jacket, I leave it outside on a table... the bbq aroma is real. read more

We went into Horn BBQ with high hopes, given the positive reviews online. I REALLY love great BBQ and I was not disappointed. I have tried all the BBQ places nearby and this is my new favorite. On our first visit we (almost literally) ordered one of everything. Pulled pork, brisket, pork rib, beef rib, hot link, BBQ chicken, cheddar link, pit beans, mac & cheese, slaw, and banana pudding. We took a lot home. First the best ever: The BBQ chicken, pit beans, mac & cheese, slaw, and banana pudding, were the best ever. This is real deeply smoked, dark brown, BBQ chicken, fall off the bone tender. I have NEVER had restaurant BBQ chicken this good, and it was better than my own, home smoked, chicken. All these items were the best (or tied for best) I have had at any restaurant. The mac & cheese is very cheesy, with rich, deep flavors. The slaw was crunchy, lightly dressed, and reminiscent of Tony Roma's cole slaw. The beans are thick and loaded with meatly umami. I would never normally order banana pudding as I generally think it is gross. This banana pudding tasted like fresh banana and had chunks of fresh banana. There are many great briskets, pork ribs, and beef ribs in the US and Horn did these all with excellence. I found the BBQ sauce a bit sweet for my taste, and brisket, pulled pork, pork rib, and beef rib all required a dash of salt and a dollop of Crystal hot sauce to reach perfection for me. The hot link was great as is, and didn't need any sauce or extra heat. The cheddar link was great for those who don't crave fire. The beef ribs (only available on Saturday) are huge, over a pound for each rib, deeply smokey, tender, and juicy. The prices may shock some dinners. One of the beef ribs (over a pound) is about $40. Nevertheless, if you are looking for juicy, deeply smoked BBQ I find this worth the expense. I can get 7 decent beef ribs at Back Forty for $40 but each rib only has a few bites of relatively dry meat. They have not yet got their beer and wine license yet, but this was OK as next door was a brew pub with outside dinning. read more

Best BBQ Brisket in the Bay Area. Seriously they do such a good job on the meat, it will be hard for me not to eat here all the time. Brisket and Ribs are both excellent. Perfect seasoning, great sauce, delicious smoke quality, and everything is pull apart tender but maintains just the right amount of chew. This is a traditional southern style bbq counter with a no frills interior. They really kill it. I like to smoke meat at home and this is leagues beyond what most competent BBQ meat smokers can do on their own. Just exceptional BBQ. No BS So dang good. Something is wrong here. Ive been many times and have really enjoyed the food and staff is always friendly, but the last few times they were out of some containers and lids saying it was their vendors issue and yesterday they had no brisket at all and no hot links saying it was a vendor issue. I've had emails to the un returned (catering inquiry) and their phone system doesn't work when I tried to call ahead for an oder for 10 people. I did have the beef rib today which was excellent, but a bit over salted than it should be. I hope they're not spread to thin with the expansion of the new locations. read more

Based on the Buzz and some of the positive reviews, was really HOPING that after all the buzz about HORN BBQ taking over the previous BBQ place in Lafayette was going to be great. Unfortunately, a huge disappointment. We tried for the first (and only) time to find it unimpressively dark and dank; like previous place. There was no make-over or renovations from the previous joint - other than a small (limited) menu board that was moved to the left side of the counter. It's as if HORN just moved in and changed the name. Arrived for a late lunch @ 1:45. No other customers. Wanted to order Pulled Pork SANDWICHES. "Out of bread" ! (I mean, really? There's a Safeway literally down the street.) All of the fixings were just sitting out in their food servers, uncovered. Flies were all over inside the place. We somewhat reluctantly order a glob (1/2 lb) of pork, some mac & cheese (almost what was left in the pan - e.g, not very fresh), and a small container of slaw. Yea, the food was edible, but frankly, just pedestrian BBQ at best. (The previous place actually was better.) Not what we had expected from HORN. The slaw was strange, hard to describe. Maybe super vinegary? The squeeze container of bbq sauce at the table was grossly slippery, like not cleaned all day. And did I say FLIES? Everywhere. And very expensive for BBQ. Won't be back. I don't think I've ever been inspired to write poetry about BBQ until now. My goodness, this place was amazing. We went full throttle and ordered a bit of everything. Brisket was beautiful and practically fell off the fork. You don't even need a knife here everything is so juicy. My husband is very hard to please with ribs and I convinced him this was the spot and boy did it not disappoint. I don't normally like tri tip and now I'm converted. All the sides (beans, mac and cheese, granny potatoes, and potato salad) were phenomenal as well. Molly and the staff took great care of us and helped us with our selections and Mr Horn was there himself! Loved the neighborhood vibes, felt right at home. My son likes the house milk tea with lychee jelly, and the husband enjoys the Oreo drinks here, but they don't taste right in my opinion. I like their house milk tea, jasmine milk tea, tropical fruit tea, and once a while, their ube taro drink. On the safe side, I normally stick with tropical tea and house milk tea at this location. Props to Lilikoi for having some "unique" drinks such as mango almighty (mango smoothie with tajin and chamoy), various horchata drinks, and more. They seem to specialize more in the tropical fruit teas, so highly recommend for those.

The only criticism is that parking is tight in downtown Lafayette , but of course , that's not their fault

The filled donuts are awsome too, although sounds like those are usually made a little later in the day fresh:( The inside is actually relatively big and comfortable, not cramped like many donut spots. One of the coolest parts is being able to see a lot of the baking process happening right there. Horn BBQ in Lafayette, CA, is a fantastic new spot that I highly recommend. However, I didn't give it 5 stars solely because the one-hour wait was a bit excessive. An hour-plus wait time shouldn't be the norm. To make matters worse, about 30 minutes into our wait, we were informed that they had run out of brisket and spare ribs. Despite this disappointing news, my wife and I decided to stick around, and as a result, the line shrank, allowing us to move up by ten spots. My wife, who is pregnant, found a table to sit at while I waited in line. The service here is truly A+. Several staff members checked on her regularly, asking if she needed water and how she was feeling. It was heartwarming to see them take turns ensuring she was comfortable while I stood in line. One downside was that there was only one food preparer on duty, despite having ample counter space for more staff. This made me wonder why it took so long to get through the line! When I finally reached the preparer, the entire process--from placing my order to sitting down--took less than 5 minutes. Now, onto the food! I ordered the beef rib, which weighed in at a whopping 1.55 lbs. However, I feel like they should deduct the bone weight from the overall price of $35 per pound they charge for meat. My wife opted for the tri-tip sandwich, and we both got potato salad. I added another side of mac & cheese to my order. It's worth noting that a small side can easily be shared between two or more people, and the serving sizes are quite generous! We left feeling full for the rest of the day--almost uncomfortably full--but it was definitely worth it. I look forward to coming back for some brisket next time! If you're willing to take on the hour wait time and want to save some money, I recommend trying a link and one side; even the links are huge! I was extremely excited to try the new Horn Barbecue location in Lafayette, as I've never had the chance to visit the original Oakland spot. With all the hype surrounding this Bay Area favorite and its celebrity chef, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, the quality of the food fell short. I ordered the brisket and beef ribs, opting to focus solely on the meat without any sides. Starting with the positives, the beef rib was soft and tender, with perfectly rendered fat and seasoning that was spot on. However, the biggest issue was how dry it was--there was virtually no beefy juice to speak of, which completely overshadowed its good qualities. The brisket had similar problems. While the slice of the point had great smoke, seasoning, and perfectly rendered fat, it was also far too dry to enjoy. Given that I was the only customer at the time, I suspect that I may have been served day-old meat. As someone who has cooked brisket and beef ribs before, I know it's rare for such fatty cuts to lose their juices unless reheated or improperly stored. While the food wasn't worth the calories, I will say the location and ambience itself were nice and clean, with plenty of parking. The staff were friendly, which was appreciated. Came back on Fourth of July. Before I even start let me say this IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH PATIENCE AND WAITING IN A LINE GO TO MCDONALDS I heard people love the McRib. I heard someone complaining and I asked "why do you patiently wait in line at lesser quality places or a in-and-out line but not for real and good food?" Anyways, came back in to a packed house on 4th of July, I was ready and my kid was back with me. I had a brisket sandwich and my oh my..ooooooooo my godddd the gentleman gave me enough to take home, I also had a beef rib and pork ribs(both absolute fire) and they gave my son some little brisket sandwiches. Brisket sandwich was 2 meals in one I packed it up Juicy beef rib, nice and fatty Pork ribs came right off with each bite The ambiance was nice people everywhere, found a spot to sit. ONE PROBLEM, the parking lot was full but I parked across the street and problem solved. I didn't cry about it. The food will always get the best rating not things out of their control. Extremely disappointed with my visit to this BBQ joint during what should have been their peak lunch hour. At 12:30 PM, with barely any customers present, they didn't have any of most of their advertised meats. Their menu didn't even have a big variety of options to start with some of which included ribs and tri-tip, but they only had two meat choices available when we arrived. The disconnect between their advertised menu and actual offerings is frustrating and feels like false advertising. To make matters worse, they don't even serve beer - a staple at most BBQ establishments. For a BBQ restaurant, the limited selection and lack of basic amenities makes it hard to justify a visit. Management needs to seriously improve their inventory planning and better align their menu with what they can actually provide to customers. Until they get their operation in order, I can't recommend this place. Save yourself the disappointment and find another spot for your BBQ fix. read more

We visited approximately 45 minutes after opening. Mac and cheese was visibly from the day before. They were unwrapping the meat from plastic and foil, it also appeared to be from the previous day. They "ran out" of pork ribs, 45 minutes after opening they didn't have chicken. No other sides were present. The restaurant want extremely hot and full of smoke. Definitely a disappointment to say the least. I forgot to add that we waited in line for over 20 minutes before we reached the counter to be advised that they pretty much had nothing we wanted. They don't have combos, they charge by the pound which is outrageous. There was also a dog in the restaurant which was just another turn off. Our first and last visit. read more

As soon as you step inside, the aroma hits you--it's absolutely delightful, almost irresistible! My boyfriend and I ordered the spare ribs, prime brisket, pulled pork, hot link, and some cheddar, banana bread pudding and let me tell you, it never fails to satisfy! The staff and the owner are incredibly friendly and welcoming. This spot consistently delivers an amazing experience! This isn't our first visit; we've also enjoyed their other location in Oakland. This place is great, i've been a few times now and Lafayette is lucky to have Horn BBQ. Parking is easy, the restaurant is great, and everyone who works there is super inviting. And then there's the food, it's excellent! I haven't had a chance to try *everything* on the menu yet but i've gotten through maybe 1/2 of it. Brisket, pork and beef ribs, chicken, most of the sides - they're all excellent. There's one clear downside though, i always eat too much when i'm there and this most recent visit was no exception. read more

Horn BBQ catered a birthday party for us and exceeded every expectation! The food was incredible (our favorites were the pulled pork and brisket). Everyone at the party could not stop raving about it. On top of that, the service was top-notch. I went here for my son in laws 45th birthday and it was amazing. I'm not sure what I was expecting but this place blew me away. Everything was so perfectly cooked. We were so excited to try this place. Food was good, but what was left of it. We came Saturday at 5:30 and the only left was brisket. Which is good for business but bad for customers. Service took forever, we waited in line for 35 minutes with only three people in front of us, which seemed odd. Only two people of shift. read more

Wouldn't call it authentic but ingredients are fairly fresh and portions are generous. Got chicken fajitas with corn tortillas and added a side of pinto beans. Beans were dry and overcooked. Chicken was tender. Sour cream and guac weren't watered down. Pico was fairly fresh. Green peppers were tender crisp. Tortillas were steamy hot. Could ask for more seasoning. Kind of bland. But on the whole, would eat again if I had to be in Kaiser during meal time. All that with a can of Dr. Pepper for less than $20. Won't win any food awards but what a great location for unexpected visitors at Kaiser across the street. Only wish they would install a crosswalk. Saw a few people jaywalk because they refused to walk to the end of the block to cross the street.

Great portion size and just enough of every ingredient. Not super impressed taste wise but again, it wasn't terrible for a quick bite. The service was good. Warm, friendly staff.
