I do not normally post things to Yelp however, in the case of Horseless Carriage I have too. I had brought my 2008 Ford F150 into Horseless Carriage from a recommendation by my father. I brought it in for a comprehensive check for a cross country trip from NH to CA my family and I are making. Nick (owner) is by far the most honest, knowledgeable, and professional mechanic I had ever dealt with. These types of guys are very hard to find these days. The other mechanics that he has working there are also very knowledgeable and professional mechanics. I have been having some transmission problems with my truck and after multiple trips to a Ford dealership, each time I was told that there was nothing wrong with it. One trip to Horseless Carriage and Dave (one of the mechanics) was able to accurately trouble shoot the problem the first time. They even brought me into the garage and showed me and explained to me what was going on. They had also found some problems with my rear axle that if left undetected could have resulted in more damage and the possibility of getting stranded somewhere on my route to California. Nick had called me and explained to me everything that they had found, some of the items were not very important and said could wait, but took the time and explained to me how to fix them and what to look out for. Then got into the items that needed to be fixed and what the cost was going to be for each one and the hours it would take to get it done, surprisingly the prices were all very very reasonable. Any other garage would have just told me that everything they found needed to be done and without knowing any better I would have just said OK and paid an outrageous repair bill. This place sets the standard of how repair facilities should be! I would highly recommend Horseless Carriage to anyone who is in need of an honest, professional and knowledgeable repair facility! To Nick and the rest of the guys there I want to personally thank you for your honesty and great work you had done on my truck and your willingness to work with me. If I am ever back in this area in the future you can bet on me being a return customer for any and all my maintenance needs. I needed exhaust repair on my 2002 Toyota Highlander.I had gone to the Manchester Toyota dealer awhile back for a diagnosis of my car's problems. The Toyota people where very nice but the first quote I got was for about $2,400.00 total. I could not afford that amount. They then came in with a quote of about $1,900 (not using Toyota parts). I had until April of 2015 to have the work done. I would need the work done before I would pass NH State Inspection. I had been passing by Horseless Carriage for months. I saw the sign out front that said we repair exhaust systems. I thought WHY NOT? Since it was/is April I knew I had to get the work done. I am so happy I called. These guys are GREAT! Nick, the manager, gave me the prices of everything I needed over the phone. I had a print out from the Manchester Toyota people so I knew exactly what I was looking for. I truly appreciated the fact that Nick gave me prices over the phone. As it turned out, the Toyota people where wrong as to exactly what I needed. Nick, at the Horseless Carriage, was able to bring my total cost in under 60% less than what Toyota of Manchester wanted to do. The price from Nick also included the inspection fees. I found the people at Horseless Carriage to be honest and very competent. I am astounded by the honesty I found in this company. They could have charged me for stuff I didn't need but was told I did need it from another repair shop. Horseless Carriage has a customer for life! I will be bringing all my cars in here for service. My husband and I had been on a search for a used car which is usually a painful process until we came upon Nick and Jim at Horseless Carriage. Hands down two of the nicest guys I've ever met. They did a complete check of the car before we bought it, made a few minor repairs, it's inspected for a year from the date of our purchase and even though we bought it as is Nick told us if we have any problems he wants to be the first to know. We have had zero problems with the car. The visor was broken and the day we bought it Nick ordered a new visor which he paid for and installed a week later when it arrived to their shop. In all my years of car shopping this was by far the most pleasant experience. I highly recommend Horseless Carriage for used cars and service. I have a lot of trust issues with mechanics, not just because I am a girl, but because I don't have the luxurious lifestyle of affording to rent a car, wait days for a car, all the hassles of cars--but to have a group of mechanics who are willing to sell me a car on the spot and then do their mechanical magic as quickly as possible without giving me grief about time management has left me overwhelmed with gratitude. The owner is sympathetic, the mechanics are spot on and can communicate to me as a person and not a paycheck. It's just a relief to be able to rely on these professionals when something goes astray with my car, and that I can safely recommend them to any friend without worrying about anyone getting ripped off or receiving less than high quality service. I had bought a used car recently from them about a month ago. Even though they normally charge at least $500 for down payment, they let me only pay $300 because that was all I had. It was also completely refundable if I decided to change my mind. They also made sure that the car was fully functional before selling it to me. The car also came with a 20 day temporary plate. Earlier this week my car broke down and we decided to call them up. They offered to fix it at no charge and gave us the number of a man who could tow it up there. Little did we know that the entire transmission needed to be replaced (which is roughly a $1200 job). They kept their word to completely repair it for free. I recently bought my first car here - fresh out of college. They put up with me coming back four times to test-drive different cars, before settling on an 06 Ford Fusion. When I came to pick up the car (after another once-over in the shop), they had the front windshield re-cleaned, and the car was running with the A/C blasting and a radio station playing softly. Nice touch. The owner made it clear that although the warranty covers 45 days with a 50/50 split on expenses, he's never made a customer pay a dime. I even messed up the paperwork and, rather than charging me another $150 to refile it, they did it for free. Excellent service and great, dependable guys. read more

I was able to purchase an amazing car, extended warranty, and they helped with all of the paperwork. The state actually ended up messing up my paperwork, but Horseless Carriage helped with the issue. Jim and Nick are both personable and helpful, and really nice. The mechanics are all amazing as well. I've gotten work done on my old car there, and will continue to go there for maintenance on my new car. These guys are fantastic!!! I was having a problem with my jeep driving home one monday evening. I called horseless carriage and to my surprise, Nick answered the phone! He was great and diagnosed my problem right over the phone and told me to bring it by in the morning. I got there first thing to be greeted with a smile. Dave and Garry verified the catalytic converter was clogged on my jeep and gave me a VERY reasonable quote.
