And that's saying a lot coming from someone who has done 95% of his own repairs for the past 35 years. I don't let just any shop touch my vehicles. I'd definitely recommend GTA. Average pricing, neither the least nor the most expensive. Exceptional service, friendly and professional. While I'm here I'd like to address that other review left by the gentleman in 2017 who wanted an engine installed in his van. Folks, I get it really I do. I can find new parts for 1/4-1/2 the price that most shops charge. And I'd put my self-sourced parts up against any shop's parts every day of the week in terms of reliability and durability. If I want to install these parts and save a bundle...I also take on the risk. In my lifetime I've had two shops that didn't mind installing my parts. However, most will not do it. That should not come as a shock to anyone. The risk of doing so falls on their shoulders. Look...when they source the parts from their regular suppliers they pay a premium and that premium is passed on to the customer. But they also take on the responsibility not only of the installation, but of the part and any warranty repair. And a reputable shop will stand behind their work and the parts they select. Shit shops will always make excuses....and every community has at least one shitty shop. But not every shop is trying to rip people off. When a customer like me supplies a part...it's a potential business liability and a risk. And if there's an issue with that part it becomes a game of he-said/she-said. Did it fail due to improper installation? Or a manufacturer's defect? Or a dumbass customer abusing the part well outside its designed purpose? Hell, I just paid approximately double the amount I'd normally pay for rear hubs by buying them through GTA (not including labor), but at the end of the day my ass didn't have to install them in the freezing, rainy cold or my cold-ass garage, and Janette provided me with a ride to and from my home. I'm getting too old for mid-Winter repair bullshit. That alone was completely worth it to me. In any case, the folks at GTA struck me as straight shooters. I've never met Bill personally, but I can understand why he'd prefer to install parts that he sourced. It's just good business sense. The next time my lazy ass doesn't feel like doing a repair...I'll be knocking on GTA's door.

It always fascinates me whenever one business shares the same building with another (kinda like the Jimmy John's in Lexington I recently reviewed). But what makes this particular location's floor plan especially unorthodox is where they have their restrooms situated. I'll try to describe this as best I can, but I assure you--there IS, in fact, a restroom. You just have to go on a bit of a journey to get there. As soon as you walk in the front entrance, turn right, then immediately turn left walking straight past the O'Reilly's checkout registers. Keep going until you reach the battery station in the back, then....walk behind them. Yes, BEHIND the battery shelves. Turn left, then keep walking all the way to the back till you reach the end (I know...it's strange, but trust me on this). Now, look to your immediate left and what do you see? The restroom...hidden behind all its bizarre labyrinthic glory. And I'm sorry to say...it wasn't very clean in there. This whole system, right? This truly is the thing of legends. It's the kind of fantastic voyage you only read about in grade school text books or something. The fact that you have to fight against your natural instincts NOT to wander directly into "employees only" territory is so strange and cryptic in practice, you'll seriously wonder if you're being Punk'd by whichever employee you asked. It's also literally the main reason I just HAD to write this review. I swear, you can't make this shit up. Lavatory oddities aside, it's your standard VIP Tires; discount for veterans, online scheduling for appointments, tap-to-pay, the whole nine. In our case, we had a pre-purchase inspection done on a used car we were getting. Overall, they did an excellent job warning us of the upcoming maintenance that needed attention, plus two discrepancies we're having covered by the dealership in question. Evidently, they also send you a hyperlink via text rather than giving a print out of issues found. Irregardless, said list is totally transferable within their entire chain to have the issues ameliorated upon future visit(s). We're planning on having these taken care of at a VIP closer to home. So, service wise, I can certainly recommend this place. You might have a hell of a time relieving yourself on premises, but at least you'll get your car fixed without breaking the bank. VIP Tires in Milford is worth 4 mysteriously perplexing trips the John out of 5.

Most people assume buying a car has to be an afflictive, miserable experience. In the traditional…read moresense, they're usually right. On the other hand, nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to local indie dealers like Horseless Carriage. These gentlemen are the epitome of chill. Naturally, it helps if you walk in knowing precisely what you want like we did. I was in the market for buying my son a Honda. After weeks of research, we tracked down a nice Accord that practically had his name written all over it. The price seemed fair enough and included all dealer fees, minus registration (which is handled at your local city hall anyway). One thing that immediately stood out to me was their level of trust. They let us take the car for a test drive unsupervised. That's like...unheard of in the mainstream dealership biz. Honestly though, they needn't worry. We were dead set on making a deal with them, so long as the car passed its pre-purchase inspection. Spoilers: it did. We took the car for a test drive and headed straight to VIP Tires just 3 minutes down the road. Other than routine maintenance issues that need to be dealt with, the only real deficiencies were a small hole beneath the flooring due to a ton of rust on the under carriage and a small crack on the windshield; neither of which were deal breakers for us, btw. In the end, the mechanic offered us complimentary windshield repair, a protectant sealant for the under carriage, plus a free oil change at the shop next door. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting that! Now, because they're an independent dealership with what appears to be just two guys working there (mind you, it was Saturday), I'm not sure if in-house financing is even offered here. Not that it mattered to me since, again...I came prepared. I had planned to pay via pre-approved loan from a credit union. The transaction was easy as apple pie. I have a feeling had I done this at a mainstream dealership, I'd have gotten mega pushback to finance through them instead. I must confess, I walked into this place not knowing what to expect. The car buying experiences I've had over the years with past dealers have left me with an inordinate amount of anxiety. So, I always walk in guarded to the gills. But these guys were no pressure, no BS folks just here to make an honest day's living. Ya know how difficult that is to find these days? Now, you're probably wondering if there are any negatives about this place. Well....there is one: the parking. It's horrendous! The lot is full of cars they're trying to sell with no designated spots for customers to park. All things considered though, that's a wicked small price to pay for having the pleasure of doing business with such a well refined business. It's locals taking care of locals and I love it! I can't say enough good things about this place and its integrity, which knows no bounds. So, I'll cap it all off by giving Horseless Carriage 5 very grateful teenaged sons riding off into the sunset in a new-ish Honda out of 5.

He even drove with me so we could test drive it together and I pointed out a small noise that he fixed immediately (roof rack loose). He was a pleasure to work with during the entire process.
