We've been to Myrtle Beach many times, have seen the lines outside this restaurant many times. Today we stopped in, picked the right time too, as there wasn't a long line of people. I ordered the bbq sandwich which came with Cole slaw and fries. There was a good size amount of meat, tender, with a sauce on the side. The sauce was in a more liquid form than thick. It was a little spicy for me but with the slaw, which was sweet it was a good thing. The fries like most places had a coating on them and were nice and crispy. None of my food was hot, but a good temp for me. Kids got grilled cheese which was a normal sandwich with applesauce. One had a cheeseburger but spoiled by fast food didn't like it. The adult with me said it was really good. Friend had the flounder sandwich with waffle sweet potato fries and hush puppies. Fries were very crispy. Sandwich ok. Service was good, they had kid menus and activity sheet. Prices are good. They give discount for cash pay, upcharge for credit card built into prices. read more

We've been coming to Myrtle Beach every year for the last several years, and Hoskins is always one of the places we make sure to visit. We love the food, and eating here brings back great memories from past trips. It's the kind of classic American restaurant we just don't have back home. I always order the fried chicken, and it never disappoints. My husband loves the fried seafood platter and gets it almost every time. The food is consistently good, which is why we keep coming back. There's sometimes a wait because Hoskins is popular with locals, but we don't mind. On our last visit, Holly was our waitress, and she did a wonderful job. Update: Love Hoskins! There's always a line, no matter what time you go. Great food at very reasonable price. We ate at Hoskins twice during our vacation. Sunday lunch, I had their meat and three vegetables with coconut cake and tea for $12.99 plus tax. (The only change that I might make in the future is not order the squash casserole.) We tried Hoskins Saturday for lunch just as we were arriving in town after a long ride. We were seated quickly. We had decided on the way down we would try one of the Saturday specials. Whole fried flounder for 17 dollars. The old saying that if something seems too good to be true it probably is applies here. I thought it was odd when I looked around after ordering and didn't notice anyone else having the whole flounder. I didn't have a good feeling about that. I don't know about the other food offerings but I can definitely say don't order the whole flounder at Saturday lunch. I can only guess that the flounder was getting old so they fried it till it was burnt and tasteless in an attempt to hide that fact. We were very disappointed! read more

Every day we came pass this restaurant there was a line out the door waiting to eat. Four of us arrived for breakfast. Seating was fast we beat the morning rush. Ashley our server was quite pleasant. We had coffee juice and water served immediately and our order was taken right away. The BLT was cooked perfect. Home fries were so so The ham was salty but the waitress that served us informed the person eating it that it was salty. Yes it was. The veggie omelette was ok. Found this highly recommended seafood restaurant on Yelp so we thought we'd give it a first time try. Restaurant has lunch and dinner hours so we went for dinner. Opens at 4:30pm so we arrived at 4:05 pm. We're so glad we did because there was already a line starting at the door with about 30 people already waiting. We took our place in line and waited for the 4:30 opening. Promptly at 4:30 we were seated at our turn to enter. Drinks were served by Courtney, our pleasant, friendly server with a great smile. The family owned restaurant was clean but smaller compared to the other huge seafood restaurants in the area. We ordered small plate of flounder (2) fillets, baked potato, slaw and a 3 item small combo with large (5) shrimp, scallops (3) and oysters (5) fries and a house salad. Complimentary hush puppies fresh out of the fryer. Probably some of the best fried seafood we've had in a long time. Seasoned great, hot but not a bit greasy as most fried foods. We ordered the small plates and it was a perfect portion for us. We didn't have any leftovers and filled with a great meal. We will come back and just remember to get there early. read more

We came here around 9 AM on a Sunday morning. Luckily there was no weight. The kids enjoyed the kids menu for coloring service was prompt and attentive. This was the second time that we have visited this place and we love it! It's the type of place you go if you want to eat like a local. Although it's not going to be empty-you're going to have to wait! Both times we have been in the line along the road, but it's mostly covered and it's not bad, as it keeps moving quickly. This most recent time we had my parents with us and my dad cannot stand in line for long periods of time and no one said a word about him staying in the vehicle and then hopping in line with us when we made it to the front. There was also a large bench out front at the door that he could sit on while we waited the last few minutes to get in. The workers are always so friendly and the food comes out hot, fresh, and most of all GOOD! This time I had the BBQ sandwich and it was huge and so yummy! I paired it with a sweet potato and it had white slaw, which was fine. I work in Lexington, NC (the "BBQ Capital of the World, haha) so I was expecting red slaw. Didn't change my opinion, though. It was GREAT! My husband had the shrimp cocktail appetizer and commented how great it was, too. Went at lunch on Halloween-there was the usual line at the door but it moved quickly. The service was outstanding-she was personable, attentive, and funny-and it was her birthday! My mom and I both got the fried chicken, salad, and turnip greens. She got the fries which were hot and crisp and lightly battered. I got the baked potato which was hot and steaming. We both loved the fried chicken which was made to order-juicy inside and crisp and flavorful on the outside. We both loved the turnip greens (and I'm not a vegetable fan!). They had pieces of diced turnip and were tender and flavorful and not at all bitter. The only knock is that the lettuce had seen better days-we both had brown lettuce. The dressings were delicious, though. We thought we were supposed to get rolls but no big deal. The place is clean and full of locals! We waited about 40 mins when we arrived at 5pm for dinner on a Thursday night. Everyone says it's worth the wait, so we waited. I'm not sure it was worth the 40 minute wait, with so many great restaurants in the area, but this place does a solid job with classic Southern comfortl food. We did not get fried seafood, which I suspect would be the tastiest thing. Nothing really blew us away, but we'd come back if the line were shorter next time. This place is a favorite of mine when I travel to Myrtle Beach. And apparently not just mine because there is usually a line outside when you go in the evenings (especially on the weekends). However, the line usually moves quickly and there is a bench. The food is fantastic. Pretty much everything I have tried here, I enjoyed. My go to though is the flounder and shrimp combo. I have been here at least 5 times over the past 3 or 4 years with the most recent being October 2024. Each time I leave happy. The service is great too. We've eaten breakfast here before, and it was good. It's old school eggs and bacon, so hard to give them a great review. Lunch was a different story. We ordered the whole flounder, which was good....maybe a tiny bit over done. But the veggies that came with the meal....ugh! They were obviously canned. We're not used to eating canned vegetables, so we found them incredibly salty. And we both ended up with a headache after the meal, so I'm thinking MSG. We won't go back.
