What a great company! I have used Host Helpers numerous times and each time they pull through with flying colors! Sandra is very professional with talking about the event you need help with and helping guide toward the right amount of people needed for an event. On Christmas Day we had a family party of 33 guests. We had 2 host helpers. Pedja covered the bar (set up and organizing, prepping for specific cocktails) and Jenny helped with food prep, cooking/heating, food service in general. They came at 2:30 for a 4:00 party. This took so much pressure off my husband and I. At 6:00 we served the guests soup then salad using their dinner plate as a charger. Afterwards, the guests served themselves dinner buffet style. We used china and sterling but opted for pretty gold rimmed plastic rather than cocktail and wine glasses. Pedja and Jenny were very professional servers. I honestly have no idea what people were choosing to drink but we heard only compliments. They had the kitchen in order, left overs in containers and all the serving dishes, china and utensils cleaned up by the time we were done with post dinner games and ready for dessert. They were spectacular!! They stayed until 10pm, a time we'd agreed would be best to wrap things up. We will use host helpers again! read more

They arrived when things were in complete chaos for me, we had to delay set up because of the weather, and they jumped in and handled everything so quickly! I ordered one helper for a family gathering on Christmas Eve this year. The order was confirmed, the deposit paid, and the $55.00 per hour plus gratuity agreed to. Alas, the helper never appeared. About a half hour after she (Sylvia, according to the confirmation) was scheduled to arrive, I called Host Helpers and left a message marked urgent. A little while later I called again and left another "urgent" message. Thereafter I called their emergency number. Host Helpers did not respond to any of the three calls--I have not heard from them to date. It may be that the helper became ill, was in an accident, had an emergency, etc., and her nonappearance is therefore understandable. What is not understandable or excusable is Host Helper's negligence or incompetence or both. read more

I've used Host Helpers for decades. Their staff arrives on time and ready to roll. They always have a lead, who gets the lay of the land and BAM, puts everyone into action. Heat and pass appetizers. Set up and staff bar. Take coats. Help with buffet foods and replenish. And (SO grateful) clean up like there's no tomorrow. All leftovers wrapped and in fridge. Trash to the bin. Glassware and serving items washed. Tablecloths removed, tables put away. ... Note to clients: be prepared for their arrival. Have your list of jobs ready. Baking instructions for foods listed and taped to cabinet. Give them full access to your cupboards, drawers and cabinets to find whatever they need to do the job. Preheat the oven (mine so slow to heat up, I forgot to preheat). Have lots of kitchen towels. And book enough time after the party for a really good cleanup. read more

Host Helpers is amazing in every way! I've used them for a couple of parties and can't rave enough about them! Crystal is fantastic - immediately responsive and very detailed and a good listener to determine what you need for your event. I recently hosted a party with about 25 people, and asked them to send me an "all-around" who could set up, serve, tend bar, and clean up. My leg is broken, so I really couldn't help in any way. They sent over Aaron, who was PHENOMENAL!!! He did everything! Was very intuitive and needed only to know where things were and he figured out the rest and did an absolutely beautiful job! And super friendly as well. Same level of quality with a different guy when I hosted a party 3 years ago. They are very consistent and only have great people working for them. I threw a party for my wife's birthday and at the last minute, the server I hired, cancelled. Through a recommendation, I called Host Helpers. Sandra who answered the phone was excellent. She quickly identified my needs and was very personable. She was so good, I wanted to hire her for my business. The server they sent was Adele and she was excellent. On time, looked professional and was a great help. She was constantly busy. Towards the end of the night, she was happy to stay as long as we needed her. Very pleasant and has a great attitude, what more can you ask for? I wouldn't think twice about calling them in the future and I look forward to recommending them to whomever may need their services. My friend who recommended Host Helpers also highly recommended two servers who she had in the past. Unfortunately because I was calling at the last minute, they were not available. A terrific pleasant well experienced woman was sent out to help at our large dinner party for 25. My regular housekeeper was hired as well. The host helper deserves a five star rating, but the four star rating I listed was the surprise I had at the end of the evening when I was told that it was a 5 hour minimum not the 6 hour I understood it to be. For sure, I would have had her arrive an hour later as really not much to do prior to the guests arriving as all prep done in advance by me. At the high hourly price being charged along w/a 20% gratitude it adds up real fast. read more

Just needed a couple of bartenders for my son's wedding to make sure that the wine and champagne were handled properly. One bartender arrived very late, and wasn't present for my few instructions: Keep the pre-chilled champagne cold, and serve a bottle of champagne & Martinelli's to each table. Extra bottles were to be opened and available in provided tubs. But there I was with one warm glass of champagne :( And the bartender had the audacity to exclaim that he worked hard when he was given a very small tip! Obviously we have a different definition of work! Oh yeah, and the warm champagne wasn't due to a lack of ice since 120lbs. was left in the freezer! At least the self serve beer kegs from BevMo were successful! Wine pouring wasn't too bad, but really, how tough is it to open some bottles and pour?! read more

No matter what type of event I am organizing, Host Helpers always gets one of my first phone calls. HH was referred to me by a friend years ago and I have been using the company ever since. Whenever I need a bartender, server, setup crew, etc they always have professional and polite staffers show up at my events. I usually select a setup/server person, plus a bartender. I was able do cooking and prepping beforehand, and then relax and enjoy our party while she took over. She made my buffet tables look great, and made sure everything was stocked. He was calm, efficient, gracious, hard-working, personable, and virtually always one-step (or more) ahead of me in terms of what needed doing. I would never use this company again-I asked for a server and received an inadequate person. I practically had to stay in the kitchen the entire time of my dinner party to help the server. My guests had to clear off the table because the server was so far behind in the kitchen trying to clean it up. Did not set up the dessert because too busy trying to clean.
