All the classics - big sticks, ice cream sandwiches, bomb pops, jaw breakers, snowcones, pickles, banana on a stick, cotton candy buckets, paletas, and more. It's also one of the few camps where you purchase by the day vs the week, so the flexibility is great. It's California. Going to beach camp is a rite of passage. They let us play in the sand, there are tons of games and activities (there's a game where they said a certain type of action and you have to do it or you lose; there's also a game where we pair up in teams and capture the flag), we go to the ocean two or three times a day to swim and play games there. The Spanish immersion program is fantastic, and the art curriculum does an excellent job of keeping the children engaged, creative, and connected to one another. The kids get a full-on camp experience; they're outside being active with their friends all day with never a dull moment. The amazing counselors are always encouraging the campers to try new things and just have fun, and the best part is that the counselors lead by example--whether they're putting on fun shows at assembly for the kids or playing games with them. My kids go to Willows, but we have friends at the other two campuses, and everyone says the same thing: what makes Iverbe the most special is the sense of community. These kids are making connections that will last a lifetime with kids and counselors alike.

I was wary because her interests are mostly art and music but she really loved learning Minecraft, and interacting with the other students and staff. Very cute that they post photos and video blogs at the end of each day. Your child receives a nice thick cotton Planet Bravo t-shirt (nice advertising). Minus one star for the crappy afternoon snacks (the only provisions included with your tuition) of Capri Suns and chips. C'mon, Planet Bravo, you can definitely improve this. Also another minus- the last day (Friday) ends early for a wrap-up, awards ceremony. As a working parent, it's hard to swallow the expense of a camp when they close/wrap-up early. I felt like the students could have that hour for instruction/activity.

My youngest one just finished his 2nd year at the Santa Monica location. He is going into 7th grade and would like to do Planet Bravo for the whole summer. What is their biggest strength? Their awesome counselors. And that is what is most important. They are both able to teach the kids and able to play with them and they are silly and goofy and everything that is wonderful about being a kid and loving to learn. As a woman, I respect (admire, love) that they hire many women and have lots of young girls who go to this camp. Let's see what else do I love: They post pictures and videos each day of camp. My kid watches these, cracks up and makes me watch them with him. Even if your kid doesn't go, you should look at these (try the Santa Monica location from the year 2013). So it's not for me (the parent) that they post these videos, it's for the kids. Now I will compare it with one of those "fancier" techno camps. When my oldest son aged out of PB, he and his brother went to ID Tech Camp at UCLA. It definitely has its good points, don't get me wrong. But it doesn't compare to Planet Bravo for the age group that PB serves. I wish PB would design a camp for older kids, too. My oldest son is now studying computer science at college, (disclaimer: he worked as a PB counselor for one summer), and has a fantastic internship this summer in Seattle. I think that his love for this field (and knowing it was a good match for him) was fostered during his early years at PB.

I chose this one over the one we usually go to (west la) because my mom was getting a procedure done at cedars and I needed to be close when she was ready to go home. When I walked in at around 2:30 and the staff was nice. Checked in and dropped my bag in the cubby. My daughter who is obsessed with balls wanted to go in the ball pit first. So we did that. She was playing with the balls for quite some time when I noticed that a couple of the balls she was playing with had black dirt on them. I took her out immediately and headed somewhere else to have her play. Mind you, this place has nowhere for infants/new walkers to play safely away from bigger kids. There was a baby sitting in the middle of the floor, couldn't be more than 8-9 months, playing with a walker toy while kids ran around her. Fast forward Wednesday 7/8 comes and she has a full on rash on both her arms, legs and her butt. I took her to her pediatrician because it wouldn't go away and they said it was a viral infection. I saw that the owner had said they clean all day every day but at least while I was there the only "cleaning" I saw done was picking up the ball pit balls and putting them back. No sweeping, no mopping, no wiping down anything. Just sitting at the desk. If I was you I'd opt for the west LA / Brentwood location. They not only have a crawler/new walker area, but their parking is free and they were clean!

It's not just about all the classic sports like soccer and flag football they play, but also all the creative activities like scavenger hunts, hikes, and games, and the change in locations that make the camp new and fresh for them everytime they go. Marcey is truly an angel and a person with a constant smile on her face and an always positive attitude. She and her team do an amazing job creating a safe, fun environment where kids feel supported and challenged. It's been such a positive experience for our whole family!
