I had previously given Hot2Cold a lower rating, but despite my earlier frustrations, they came through for me. A few months after installation my A/C had an issue where it would keep running whether or not the thermostat was on. The owner, Wayne, came out the next day and determined the issue was a contactor that came defective from the factory. Wayne explained the issue to me in language I could understand and then replaced the bad part with a beefed-up version. Although I left a negative review before, the people at Hot2Cold still treated me with respect and professionalism. I still believed the initial install could have gone better, but I have a greater appreciation for this company now. Previous post: This is going to be long. When my AC went out I requested estimates from 6 local companies. Hot2Cold wasn't the cheapest, but James did an excellent job explaining the options available and the science behind the different systems. I selected Hot2Cold because the estimate was detailed and on the lower end of the price spectrum. However, ~6 weeks and approximately 10 visits later I still do not have a code-compliant HVAC system. The thermostat was installed incorrectly during install which required another visit. Then there were several quality control inspections by Wayne, the owner, and at least 1 other technician. One of the QC checks revealed that the shutoff switch in the A/C closet was not code compliant because the air handler was installed blocking it. Hot2Cold came out twice to fix it because they had the wrong part on hand the first time. The internal QC check also revealed an incorrect installation of the outside shut off switch which required an additional visit. During this time I decided to verify that the permits I paid for were pulled. Hot2Cold only requested the mechanical permit even though they performed electrical work as well. Wayne, the owner, assured me he would amend the error that week, and ~10 days later he did. A few weeks later, the A/C failed to cool my house below 80 degrees. Another visit determined the refrigerant was overcharged. With all the kinks taken care of, I was ready for inspection. The new HVAC system failed the inspection. The two issues were dissimilar metals installed touching in the AC cabinet which would lead to galvanic corrosion and incorrect wiring leading to the heat pump. The inspector informed me the incorrect wiring (heat strip) could lead to a fire and instructed me not to use the heat until it was fixed. Today was supposed to be the final visit. I took of work...again.. to meet the tech and he informed me he was given the wrong heat strip. This HVAC job has wasted dozens of hours of my time and cost me about $1000 in lost wages already, and I still don't have a properly installed system. I truly regret choosing Hot2Cold. All that said, every technician I've met (and at this point I'm sure I've met the entire company) and the two women that work in the office have been exceptionally professional and kind. read more

I write this review as a contractor and a homeowner. Contractors are often skeptical of service technicians coming to their home. We can be demanding, critical, and cheap. We typically "think" we know more than the technician and supervise them closely to be sure they do everything right, and that we get what we are paying for. I am not different. When Rodney and Lee arrived at my house, I integrated them to determine their knowledge and how they would manage themselves. (Borderline harassment.) It is without reservation that I highly recommended Hot 2 Cold as a Mechanical Contractor. Their technicians are well-versed, courteous, professional, and skilled. Rodney and Lee took their time servicing my two AC Units and I was pleasantly surprised they did not just open, spray, test, and leave. They opened both the interior air handler unit and outside compartments for inspections. They thoroughly disinfected the inside AHU coils, flushed the drain lines, and tested. They thoroughly cleaned the coils, tested, replaced a capacitor, and charged the system. The time that Hot 2 Cold took to service one of my systems is twice the time that other Contractors take to service both my systems. They were not slow or joking around. Quite the contrary - they gave me my money's worth, and the entire time I was harassing them (partly because I was bored, but mostly testing them to see how well they were trained) they worked as they spoke to me in a kind, compassionate, and in a deescalating manner. I was proud of them. I enjoyed harassing Rodney and Lee. I wish all my service technicians worked as hard and represented my company, as well as these two young technicians represented Hot 2 Cold. I just moved to Clearwater in May and didn't know who to call. I asked a fellow employee and was given the name of a local company. Their quote was outrageous and the repairman/serviceman that came to my home was arrogant. After sleeping on it I called them back the next morning and told them their cost did not sit right with me and that I needed to get a 2nd opinion and started reaching out to people I have met in the past 8 weeks here. I was given Hot 2 Cold's phone number. I called and the owner Wayne was polite, courteous, honest, and respectful. He sent John, his service repair man over, who has the same qualities. They worked diligently on my air conditioning unit and by Thursday night I had air, and at a fair price. For two weeks I have had an intermittent problem with my A/C shutting down almost immediately after starting. Another company came out three times and although they did find an issue that they repaired during the second visit, unfortunately it did not solve the problem. Enter Hot 2 Cold's James Thornsberry! I called Hot 2 Cold and luckily James was assigned the task to solve our vexing, problematic A/C. Within a few minutes he found two issues. The first being a bad disconnect switch and the second a short in the thermostat wire that was under the house. One half hour later our A/C unit was doing it's job. So a typical Saturday in the bay, and then power surge hits my AC in the lower part of my house. Did all the usual things, checked breakers, drain lines. Ended up resigned to needing a service call. Went to Yelp and found Wayne here. Called him early Sunday and to my surprise got him and not voice mail. He asked me what was wrong, gave me a ballpark estimate, and slot when to expect him. Called again to let me know he'd be closer to end of that slot. Arrived and went to work- no upsell, bs, real nice guy and knows his stuff. 20 minutes later my unit was working again! He even went above by checking my freon levels for both units while he was here. Without hesitation I recommend these guys!! Wayne's a strait shooter. Trust what he tells you. Hot 2 Cold is by far the best A/C repair services we have ever used. The response was very fast, sent someone out within an hour and a half. The prices a reasonable and fair. They didn't overcharge like some other companies. Our heater wasn't working, so we called them to come service it. They sent Heath, who is the most honest, professional, and easy to work with technician that we have encountered. He really takes the time to troubleshoot and explain issues. My brother is a A/C tech is Georgia so we always run things by him. In the past other local techs have been intimidated when we ask them to speak with my brother or when we run things by him. But not Heath. He confidently explained his assessment. We will definitely use Hot 2 Cold again, and request Heath! read more

We called Hot 2 Cold for an emergency AC repair. We have a system from 2003 that's still kicking due to regular maintenance, but sometimes the run-off drain clogs and the system cuts out. Which it did, on a Sunday evening. Hot 2 Cold promptly sent Jason and Jeremy out who arrived on time and were extremely professional. In addition to clearing the drain, they rebuilt the run-off on the air handler so the pan wouldn't be in danger of overflowing and ruining the ceiling. The air handler is in the roof, in a tiny cramped space, and is the temperature of a kiln in the summer. The crew, uncomplaining, handled this adversity like pros. Highly recommend Hot 2 Cold to anyone with air conditioning needs. We woke up to our AC down on the same day we were having 20 guests over. We called in the morning and they sent someone out to us within hours. Anthony, our technician, was wonderful and figured out the problem right away. Luckily it was an easy fix (a wire inside of the actual AC unit was knocked loose) and he even checked our coolant levels and gave us some advice on getting our house back down to a reasonable temperature quickly. The price was much lower than most companies and the service was outstanding. I would recommend this company to any of my friends and family and we will definitely call them in the future with any other AC needs! read more

Edited to add- Hot 2 Cold's Hector, finally called me after leaving this review. His call was to understand why I left a bad review instead of calling me back after leaving numerous messages and my wife even emailed them but got no response. When Hector personally came to my home we signed up for a service plan! They only came out once. We will no longer do business with Hot 2 Cold because they do not answer their phones and seemingly only care about reviews! I've been calling this company now for 2 days with no response. No one other than their answering service answers the phone and all they do is take a message for a call back. No one has called back. I seldom leave reviews but this was unacceptable. read more

I'm very pleased with the results of the services of Hot2Cold in Tampa. My HVAC system is getting old and stopped working. I called Hot2Cold for an estimate, expecting to purchase a new system. Warren Giese, the technician, arrived the same day. He thoroughly reviewed the situation and identified the immediate problem (a fried gecko in the outdoor compressor unit). He replaced a broken part, repaired the system, replaced an old, malfunctioning thermostat, and also provided an estimate for a replacement system, with some options for me to consider. The old system will still have to be replaced but it can now wait until after the busy season. I'll definitely call them again at that time. read more

A storm flipped my main breaker. When I flipped it back, my lights came back on as did the fan for the A/C. However, the compressor did not. Temp in my place quickly rose to 87 degrees. Misery !!! I had called a previous A/C company I had used, but they couldn't get to me until Monday and it was Friday. I found all these 5 star reviews for Hot 2 Cold and gave them a call. They said they could have someone there b/w 3-5. James showed up about 4. He was professional and personable. He looked over everything and said it wasn't an A/C issue; it was an electrical issue. I've been using Hot2Cold for a few years and have been extremely pleased. I've had the pleasure of dealing with Wayne, Warren and Sean. I have always received excellent service. They are very knowledgeable and their prices are more than fair. Sean came out last night to replace a motor and was here a lot longer than I'm sure he wanted to be. Most places would have thrown in the towel and called it a day. Sean stayed until he got the job done and we had our air back. Living in Florida can be a nightmare when your AC goes out. Lucky for me I called Hot 2 Cold. I was greeted by Heath Pope and as soon as he arrived he made the best of a terrible situation. He went above and beyond (didn't just repair my AC unit but also made sure my needs were taken care of). HVAC system stopped working and a tech came out to have a look. Sean F. had to climb up into the hot attic where the air handler is located and diagnose the problem. He took the time to photograph and document the areas of concern and came up with a few options for me. This is hot work in a tight crawlspace of an attic but he took his time to fix my wiring problem, my transformer problem, and added a safety override so it does not happen again. Then he went out and deep cleaned my unit while checking all coolant levels for pressure. He explained what he was doing as he did it so it was clear and easy for me to understand. ok, I pretty much made a yelp account just to comment on these guys. Our AC broke in the summer, while other poeple gave us a 1-3 week waiting time, they came out that day, litterly less then 2 hours later. The AC we got costed about 500-1000 dollers less then buying one from home depo and it was fully installed less then 24 hours later. Tonight it was cold when i got home from work and my old thermostat was making it so my heat wouldn't work. Jason came out and replaced it in less then 2 hours from my call. WOW! I don't know where to start. it's 90 degrees outside and my AC decided to crap last night. I called HOT 2 COLD before 7am. I got a message they were with others and would call me back. I left a message and they called right back. James called just after 12noon. He arrived soon after and immediately started to troubleshoot. Quickly isolated the problem and replaced the gremlin with a good part. Cleaned my coils and checked all my pressures. By now the house is getting cool again! Did I mention I work from home? I haven't done business with Hot 2 Cold...yet. I was told I needed to replace my system by someone with more incentive to sell than to maintain. I started getting quotes and included Hot 2 Cold because of the large number of good Yelp reviews. James came out and did more to verify that my existing system is just fine than anyone else has. He was very thorough in explaining every step of his investigation. He sent quotes, as requested, when he said he would and they are the lowest I have received. NO money has changed hands, but my confidence about working with this individual is high. read more
