8 inches of 100% tube steak smothered in mustard & wrapped in a bun is what I'm giving a " HELL YA " about. Imagine it's a late night and its announced last call from another evening of alcohol intake and debauchery. Since I didn't have a the accompaniment of female I decided a mystery tube of meat at HOT DOG JOE's was my last stop. A gentleman requested my order for which I shouted out and handed him some currency . He fans the flames & grilled my mystery meat tube and slopped some yellow mustard atop. He wrapped my dog in a paper wrap and handed it to me a few minutes later. With dog in hand I stood around on the streets of Seattle with a host of locals & Hipster Doofus's all chowing down the best meal at 2am you ever consume. I was leaving Amber with a number of friends... and bumped into some amazing Yelper friends at Hot Dog Joe's. And they told me to order a dog. OKAY! The woman handling the sales was extremely enthusiastic and I heard she was super friendly. The first option she named was a chicken dog. Sure! I'll try anything. (Well, not ANYTHING... but you know what I mean.) The dog took a little long, but it ended up being just the right amount of time considering when my bus arrived. The dog was delicious and the man cooking it apologized that it took as long as it did. He also somehow managed to compliment me on my looks twice without sound creepy (to a sober person - I'm not sure how many he gets of those at that stand). So anyway. The dog was $6 of deliciousness and the servers were friendly (and apparently smooth). Right on! 5 stars it is. read more

When you're drunk and in need of food in Belltown, this is spot. They have quite a selection of toppings for your hot dog or sausage, with cream cheese being the most popular and peculiar. It works surprisingly well and the grilled onions and pickled jalapenos round out my favorite toppings. We shared the "Big Boy" twice so i didn't get a chance to try the other sausages. Polish seemed to be popular though. The Big Boy is awesome, a whopping 3/4 pound dog that stretches longer than the bun. The hot dog is made with cheese and jalapenos and trust me, it has quite the kick. A night full of drinking, craving a hot dog with crème cheese and onions (don't knock it until you've tried it), no cash and it must have been way after hours since we closed the club down and I had already driven to Issaquah and back to Seattle.... What's a girl to do?? Drive through downtown Seattle, hope to find a cash machine and one of the stands outside a club still open. To my amazement, I stumbled upon Hot Dog Joes and the staff packing things up into a truck with what looked to be one stand still open. I pull up to the sidewalk and ask, where's the nearest cash machine??? The guy who came to my window paused for a second... tried to think of the nearest ATM and then finally gave and asked what I was after. Let him know that I was craving a hot dog. He asked what I wanted on it and I let him know crème cheese and onions. He asked "That's it??" & I said "YUP, that's it". Got a "Hold on" and a few minutes later... Ta-Dah ... I have a hot dog with crème cheese and onions with a "Have a good rest of your night and I hope you don't have to drive too far". What an amazing show of customer service!!! Sidewalk to SUV window service. Who can complain about that?? Add into that, it was one of the best tasting hot dogs with crème cheese and onions that I've had to date. A night out in Belltown is incomplete without one of these babies in my tummy at the end of the night. I would actually go as far as to say that these hotdogs are the reason I go out in this city. The possibilities are endless: Hot link, polish, all-beef, veggie (all grilled to perfection)...topped with cream cheese, grilled onion, cheddar cheese, shoestring fries, siracha, sweet chili sauce. I ordered the Big Boy despite anyone tells you it's the Biggest hot dog in Seattle. I do not drink and was sober but after reading so much about this stand and it's only available during Fridays and Saturdays it was my chance. I got the Big Boy a 3/4 pound of spicy hot dog that had some heat. I got everything on it, Cabbage,grilled onions, cucumbers, cheese and sour cream and a bunch of other stuff. It tasted good but in my Sober State my gut told me to back off after eating a little more half of it,way to much different flavors all mixed up. The staff were friendly and they have some cool beats playing. There were people that were just hanging out. If I see the cart around again I would hit it up again and perhaps not go crazy on the Big Boy it was to much dog for me. read more

SEATTLE DOGS! How did I not know about this before!? Cream Cheese in hot dogs is genius! It's even better with grilled onions topped on it. The bun was toasted, the sausage link had juicy flavor. Many a times during the week I will crave a creamcheese hotdog, alias..I have to wait until Friday night around 10pm for them to set up shop. But so worth the wait....my weekend reward. :) A night out in Belltown is incomplete without a hot dog at 2 am on 1st & blanchard. There are other hot dog stands on other corners. But this one is THE corner to be at! Load it up with grilled onions and slap on the cream cheese. It hits the spot after a long night of dancing and/or drinking. Just saying... All of the hot dog (or is it technically polish sausages?) stands that I've been to taste pretty much the same. I give the stars for these based on convenience, service, and condiment selection. The wait for this stand was a little long, but it was right at 2, so no stars are being taken away for that unavoidable delay. I am a simpleton with my dogs: just ketchup and extra cream cheese. However, if you wanted more of a "flavorful" dog, there was lots to choose from. (I think my boyfriend piled on onions, extra cream cheese, jalapeños, relish, ketchup, rooster sauce, and mustard.) The guy manning the grill was alright... Kept his cart in order and kept the line moving... But he put onions on mine when I only asked for them on one of the dogs. Oh well. Just scrape them off! I'll be back the next time I want to pay homage to the drunk gods in Belltown. read more

A diverse selection of sizeable hot dogs, sausages (thats what she said!) and toppings with a veggie hot dog option as well. The price is $4 which was $1.25 cheaper than in WaMu and definitely worth it. I thought the dog was quite savory but what I was really impressed with was the service. Not only was the gentleman very kind waiting on me, but I did not have enough cash on me (yes, I am that poor AND I rarely carry cash) and he told me to just pay him back next time I was there. He had never seen me before, nor am I a regular in the area, so it was such a nice gesture, not to mention a reprieve from some of the pompous service I have experienced since being here. When I walked back past his stand a few hours later I paid what I owed and left a generous tip. I won't five star it because its just hot dogs but Hot Dog Joes deserves your business! read more

But it was actually pretty good and a good way to end a sweaty night at Tia Lou's is definitely to get a all beef dog with cream cheese and sauteed onions, cover it too much ketchup, and sit like the classy person I am in the parking lot and eat it. But after a long night of dancing to semi-awful music, any fatty food will easily become my best friend. My biggest complaint are the super drunk people that push their way in front of you and start talking and swaying all over with you with their stanky drunk breath. read more
