Packaging was great as they had tarter sauce premade , one with dill& the other compartment regular tarter sauce. The fish & zucchini were battered & fried perfectly& the portions generous. I enjoyed my lunch& their lemonade was on the lighter side& alittle watered down, possibly from the ice. Ate in the mall court yard , which was very nice. The hubby grabbed a lemonade from here. They have a new flavor, dragonfruit. It comes in regular and frozen. He got the regular $4.79 plus $0.99 for the dragonfruit syrup. I would have preferred the frozen lemonade instead. It was really good and not overly sweet. He said it tasted like Kool Aid, but I didn't think so. My review is for their CUSTOMER SERVICE. Good is still great. But service has really gone downhill lately. Been here multiple times over the last few weeks and EVERY time I get a girl who WILL NOT smile out look remotely interested in their customers. Wow what's going on with Hot dog on a stick? We put in what was considered to be a simple order. A corn dog, fries and a large frozen lemonade. We put the order online and it said wait time would be an hour and a half. We were ok with that since we had stuff to do. About 25 minutes later we were notified the food was ready. I went to grab the order and was handed one bag with no drink. I asked if I could also get the lemonade with my order. The girl goes to make the lemonade and she hands back the wrong drink. After explaining to her that the drink was wrong she asks if I can just take that one. I told her no because we paid for a frozen lemonade. They take back the regular lemonade and pour it back into the mixer with the rest of the lemonade and then she hands me my frozen lemonade. I could clearly tell she didn't want to be bothered. I go back to my table and the the frozen lemonade is crazy sour. lol I will not fault that as that leads me to believe the lemonade is made from real lemons but it was pucker worthy. Girlfriend ate a third of the fridays and had to tap out cause it was too salty and overcooked. I'm sorry but today's experience has left me with a sour taste in my mouth and I haven't had a sip of my lemonade since I started writing this review. I told my girlfriend we're putting the HDOS on a one year timeout. Even though we didn't take a sip of the lemonade, pouring it back into the mixer doesn't make for good optics if people when people don't have the whole story. They happily exchanged the fries so I will mention that for transparency. You can also smell the funnel cake on the fries. It kinda has a funnel cake taste to it too. Today I found out that it's actually pretty popular. They had a line and were making things to order, so we waited about 10 minutes after ordering for our food. They have corn dogs, fried fish, fried zucchini and fries. We ordered the fish and zucchini, but it doesn't come with fries, so we got an order of fries too. And a large lemonade. It came out to like $27! It was a lot of fried food and tartar sauce, but I still thought it was a bit pricey. At least it was hot. I definitely couldn't eat this everyday or even once a week. I might be back, but I wish they seasoned the fish or zucchini a bit more. I'm also glad it comes with tartar and ranch sauce, but I also wish they offered malt vinegar. This place used to be one of my favorite places to eat at the mall. But now I'm not so sure anymore. The service was excellent and fast. BUT, my fried zucchini was horrible. When you're jonesing for something only to get home and be disappointed, it makes you question whether they changed the way they prepared the food or they made a mistake by using the wrong batter. The zucchini's used to be made with a batter that made it crispy on the outside. Today, when I opened my box as soon as I got home, there were 6 pieces of zucchini's that looked like cheese sticks (minus the sticks). After biting into it, the bread was so thick, it was like eating a zucchini wrapped with a pancake. After paying $15+ for a zucchini plate and small lemonade only to be disappointed, I don't know if I'll take my chance again eating there. I haven't had HDOS for years because it's so far and there's only one location on this island. There's tons of parking at the mall but a huge portion of it is always blocked off, so the closest parking is probably Macy's if you're just going to the food court. My favorites are the corn dog, lemonades, and of course the fish and zucchini plate. They're all pretty reasonably priced. However, I wish they still sold the gallon lemonade because I need my drive to be worth it! Lol! They have pexi glass between you and the worker. You insert your payment in a basket and they will take it from there. There's also social distancing markers on the floor but we found it quite confusing one day, and awkwardly funny how the line formed the wrong way and I happened to be standing in the middle of the correct line waiting for my food. So my first job in High School was Hot Dog on a Stick. Actually hired at two jobs the same day and my work ethic and motivation had me doing both and maintaining honors in high school. So, a little Hot Dog on a Stick history: Once upon a time in 1946 on the beautiful beach in sunny Santa Monica, a man named Dave Barham opened a food stand that would become an American icon. Originally called Party Puffs, the bright red barnlike stand served ice cream cones and lemonade but that all changed when, using his mom's cornbread recipe, Dave perfected the Hot Dog on a Stick. To highlight this new menu staple, he changed the name of his stand to Hot Dog on a Stick. Next, he took his products on the road and started selling at county fairs using his Lincoln Continental as a generator. After that, Hot Dog on a Stick took to the malls. While they have clearly come a long way, that famous Muscle Beach location is still selling made-to-order Hot Dogs on a Stick and fresh hand-stomped lemonade today. Let's see, what else? Oh, their fantastic uniforms! How could we forget? We drove all the way from Ewa on a Saturday to come and have fish and zucchini. Well disappointed they were out. In my day we would go to the distributor or grocery store to ensure we were stocked, this wasn't acceptable. The service was snarky, very disappointing. The lemonade, watery and not liked by any of us. Kid's meals are no more, and Ala carte is their only way. I believe change is good, but these weren't positive changes. The uniform no longer stands and it's just a hat and shirt. Watching the employees walk around the front drinking their Blazin' Steaks and no hat wasn't charming either. Being that this is the only Hot Dog on a Stick on the Island, it brings people from all over the island when they crave for their famous fresh lemonade or corn dog or battered zucchini or fish. I now get the less sugared lemonade by getting the lemonade lite which I believe use Splenda. They have turkey dogs or Nathan hot dog for their hot dog on the stick. Their French fries are on the thinner size and light and crispy. The funnel sticks are sprinkled with powder sugar but they are delicious! I used to like their zucchini and fish sticks but lately I didn't like the thick battered and it was more doughy than crispy. I didn't care for it at all. My friend said it's not the batter but perhaps it depends on how the worker dip it in the batter? They have a new app that requires you to download first and register your phone number so you can just use your phone number when ordering to earn points. After hosting a Yelp Families event at Windward Mall, I was sooooo excited to have Hot Dog on a Stick for lunch! I ordered the sampler platter which comes with four stick items of your choice and a side of your choice. I decided on four turkey dogs, and since I knew my kids would not eat zucchini sticks (my personal favorite), I opted for a giant cup of french fries. I also got the regular and frozen lemonade for my kids as well. Our lunch was PERFECT. He loves it and every time we're on the windward side we always have to come here. Today I stopped by to pick up a cherry limeade, hot dog and jalapeño cheese stick for my other half. Whenever I visit Windward Mall, I have to get something from Hot Dog on a Stick! Its located in the food court right next to the bathrooms. The line is always long and you're right in the busy walk way... My go to is definitely a lime lemonade and zucchini. With that combo I requested 2 beef dogs, a turkey and a cheese stick. First time trying the cheese, and it was awesome! Like a grilled cheese on a Stick. For the side I ordered the funnel cake fries.
