    Garlic Chicken

A local favorite. We were an across the street at Starbucks and asked the barista for a recommendation for lunch. He quickly recommended Fatboys as a place locals go. You can often find trays of the Garlic Chicken at local Hawaiian gatherings from Fatboys. Let me see if I can channel my inner local, "you want the grindz bruddah, Fatboys got the kind" We had the Garlic Chicken. Crispy, amazing flavors and juicy, can best describe the deliciousness that is the Garlic chicken. Served with the traditional rice and Mac, it was Hawaiian perfection. With outdoor seating, Fatboys is a great place to grab a bite. You may even be greeted by the local "free range" chickens.

    Mini Garlic Chicken Plate ...
    Teri N.

Walked in at the right time ... order a mini garlic chicken plate like I always do ... haven't had this for at least 8 years! It's still very good! There was either 6 or 8 pieces of chicken perfectly fried then coated with just the right amount of sauce. One scoop of rice and one scoop of Mac salad. Winner winner chicken dinner!! Love this place from the time he first opened to now!

My top go to in Kailua for a quick plate lunch. Their garlic chicken is my absolute favorite! Service was quick and friendly!

Stumbled across this place and here goes Very good pricing for Hawai'i Food was fairly good (I got the loco moco) Service was fast but oddly not very friendly. Not sure if because we are haole. Was funny when I walked back in to thank them and tell her we enjoyed the food. Not sure she expected that. Seating is outside so if very hot be advised. Would go back again.

The most popular item, garlic chicken. Crispy, big chunky pieces of chicken, and most of all the flavor was hella good. I wasn't feeling the Mac salad tho. Good price, quick service, would go back for the same plate.

Not many parking spots outside. They do have a bathroom tho but you have to ask for the key. Hole in the wall interior. You order and then sit outside. No indoor seating. Food was quick. Didn't get much meat on my plate. Gravy was delicious. But most of the food was all rice. Plate was 13.60$. Nothing amazing. I could find this back in the bay.

Got hungry on my roadtrip so we stopped here! Wanted something local, fast and small. Opted for Fatboy's bento and it was right on point! Good service, nice little spot compared to other places in the area great value and good portion!

Kailua pig/pork was good, Mac salad not so much - Mac salad was not normal Hawaiian Mac salad , very unseasoned Service was quick and friendly! Environment was clean.

Regular size plates. Garlic chicken/teriyaki beef combo and katsu plate.

Parking is hit or miss due to competing venues but there's a huge lot at Target within walking distance so we parked there. Always a line but moves relatively smooth. I had the Gaelic chicken, teriyaki beef combo and some katsu chicken too. The garlic chicken is really good but I got a lot of fried crisp that lacked meat on some parts. The beef flavor was unique and compliments the rice but quite salty. The plates come with rice and mac salad but even eating that didn't completely fill me up and I got the regular, not the mini. I'll be back to try some more food because although, it wasn't filling, it was tasty.

We decided to get dinner from here since we were on this side of the island. I got the garlic chicken and roast pork plate. It was horrible! The roast pork was so bland- no flavor at all even with the gravy, it was like brown gravy but no taste too. Onions were raw on one side then burnt on the other. The rice was so mushy! The two stars is solely for the garlic chicken- lots of flavor and crunchy when I ate it. My husband got the loco moco and it wasn't that great. The hamburger was hard and the gravy had no taste. Not sure if I'll give them another try. Parking in front or in the back of the restaurant. We had to park in the back since there was no parking in front.

    Instant saimin for 50 bucks
    Kalai F.

Called in an order for garlic chicken and fried saimin. Pikup was in an hour or so.. Both were small orders. I figured according to the pics on their yelp page it be like 30 sum bucks each. Total was 105 dollars! Dayum inflation is f'real! Upon getting to the party less than a mile away. Chicken was already soggy and pretty crappy tasting. Im not sure if they changed the recipe but its not the same as when they first opened. The next dish... Fried Saimin.‍ who the heck maked fried noodles with instant saimin? Wtf???? This was the crappiest fried saimin ever! And it was fifty bucks! Fat boys is just out in my books.

The ordering counter and cashier is right as you enter along with thr pastry counter. Same deals with thr kapolei location you order and find your own table and put number so they can find you when your order is up. Inside is airconditioned with around maybe 10 tables and chairs some seat 2 others eat 4 and they also have outside patio seating back and front. The parking can be challenging having maybe 10 -12 spots in their lot and some street parking . Their Menu is a bit more limited than their other location. Sandwiches.. pizza and other stuff oh and coffee. The only thing that wasmt as good as their kapolei location was they didnt have the thin crispy salty cravable fries they only had small bags of chips available The food is always good and the service was real good. Water is self-serve, and the setup feels more like a cafeteria than a traditional sit-down restaurant. That said, the staff has always been friendly and welcoming, which makes for a pleasant experience. I usually order the chicken pesto sandwich, which is always a great choice, but today I decided to branch out and try the Beach Burger and the Margherita Pizza. Both were absolutely delicious and definitely worth ordering again. The atmosphere is one of my favorite parts. It has a relaxed, coastal vibe that makes you feel like you're dining at a beachfront café, even if you're not right on the sand. Overall, it's a great spot for good food, a laid-back environment, and friendly service. I'll definitely keep coming back.

The portions are big, but taste wise I felt there was room for improvement. However, the service was great and the employees very friendly and helpful with navigating the menu. While it seems they are mostly a carry out business, there are a few seats in front, although be prepared to dine with plenty of rooster and hens walking about. - Poke: The standard spicy ahi was too mayo heavy without much spice, and the huge slices of onion (including the big chunk you can see in my pic) really threw it off. The fish itself was ok, but a bit on the mushier side. - Proteins: Plate lunch with kalbi and shrimp, plate lunch with terriyaki chicken, and bowl with kalbi: The shrimp was the best of the proteins and had a nice seasoning, while the kalbi and chicken tasted warmed over. The chicken tasted like the rubbery texture you would get with mall food court chicken. The kalbi was unlike any traditional kalbi I've had, in terms of taste and texture. - Sides: Mac salad, krab salad, and Japanese potato salad. While the krab salad was decent, the mac salad was underdressed. The potato salad was way too salty.
