Daughter brought us home Teri burgers and fries for a late lunch. We've hear of H & T before and wanted to try it. Yes, we had takeout and will take that into consideration with this review. Service was good, from what she told us, and the place was nice and clean. Ambiance, check. For the food, it was just ok. Teri burgers were a little too salty, even for Teri burgers, and the sauce was a thicker style. Flavor was ok and mayo was a bit too heavy. Fries were a little soggy but remember, we did take out and it was 30+ minutes before we ate so completely understandable. That's on us. Overall, it was just ok. Price and taste. The food and the service here at H&T Burgers are pretty good. I remember when I was a child going to to this restaurant when it used to be Orange Julius. The owner then changed the name to H&T Burgers currently. The food still tastes the same, the portion sizes, and the prices are very good and reasonable. I enjoy having their teriyaki dishes, their freshly made to order french fries, and chili dog dishes. The ambiance is like going to a small burger joint or diner. Passed by on many occasions but have never eaten at this spot. H & T Burgers is near the food court on the ground level of Windward Mall, on the movie theater end. They are known for their teri burgers and plate lunches. Took a photo of a bun steamer (?) that appears as if it is from 1985...good times. It was my first time here and I was so impressed! I love how old school the place looks and it's definitely comfort food. I ordered the Teri burger combo and added cheese and upgraded to the Teri fries. The burger was great and they do have a really good Teri sauce. Love it with the fries as well! With the fries you can have them plain or with teriyaki sauce. I chose the teri fries. The burger was pretty good and included lettuce and a tomato slice. I don't remember if it had more things like pickles or onions as I was so hungry I inhaled my burger. Although very sticky, the Teri fries were delicious on the crispy fries. It's best to eat them as soon as possible as I could see them getting soggy by the time you take it home to eat. It definitely is a local style, sweet teriyaki sauce and not a traditional one. I couldn't stop eating the fries and it was worth the sticky fingers afterwards. Next time I may ask for a fork tomorrow avoid that. The food was made to order so it did take some time. I think H&T may be under new ownership. Customer service is not at its best. They make you wait to take your order and don't acknowledge that they will be right with you. Customer service was disappointing. When we arrived, there was only one person ahead of us and a couple of people waiting for their orders, yet the cashier (C) didn't acknowledge us for about five minutes before taking our order. When she finally came over to take the order she did not greet us she just stood there silent with a blank look waiting for me to speak. Since the restaurant had limited space, we waited right outside. At one point, a bag of food was placed on the counter, if a name was called no one heard it and no attempt was made to call the name again. . After waiting nearly ten minutes, another customer and I approached the counter when a second bag appeared--only to find out the first bag had been mine the whole time. I had been standing in clear view of C who was calling out names for orders but she made no effort to let me know I missed it and it was mine. Honestly, pretty upset. No words look at the picture I left. Felt very unprofessional in the way they handled our food. Mixed up two of our orders and did not put sauce on some of ours. Ordered take out this past Sunday, teri beef sandwich with teri fries. Wait time was not too long, however, this is how they packaged my order. Seems like they put the sandwich on top of the teri fries, resulting in a super soggy teri sauce bun. This was meant to be for my tūtū but it was very difficult for her to pick up the burger to the point where we just transferred the meat and veggies to sandwich bread. A few fries are missing but I also agree, fries portion sizes have significantly decreased. Also, why not package the burger separate for takeout? Gotta update my review AGAIN. Came here to get to-go yumyums on a Wednesday evening and it wasn't too busy, just a steady flow. I didn't recognize the staff, but they were all extremely friendly and professional. I ordered two plates, one custom order, three fries, took about 10 minutes or so. Everything was accurate and cooked perfectly, super Ono!! I noticed as usual only two workers but they worked well together and if the cashier was busy she was still attentive to waiting customers. Also I gotta say they are still using those fancy napkins! I love those napkins...for real...I went to a certain restaurant the other day that makes strawberry pies if you get my drift, and took all the unused napkins on my table before I left.....oh and to all those people saying their sauce is too thick, here is a picture of my yummy foods. read more

For what it's worth it's still a solid choice not just as a mall burger but just in general. I been coming to this one off and on when I'm in the area for over 20 years and it still remains a consistent option. Does anyone remember Orange Julius when it was in the International Marketplace back in the early 90's? Well, H&T Burgers taste almost exactly the same. The difference, pickle slices. H&T burgers don't have them. Windward Mall is way out of my comfort zone for driving, but I was lucky enough to be invited to an outing with friends. This little place is located on the ground floor, in the Ko'olau Pets wing. There are a few dining tables, but a tight fit, especially if you're chunky like me. The french fries are thin cut, and prepared perfectly. It didn't seem like they were salted, but it could be the type of salt used. The Teri burger was fabulous. Perfectly cooked. The Teri sauce was throughout the patty, not just slathered on top of a regular burger. Every bite took me back 30 years, Yes, I'm old!) with visions of getting the burger from OJ in Waikiki, and the walk through the old International Marketplace to get there. So nostalgic. I'll definitely step outside my comfort zone to get a burger and some Okazu from Maruki-Tei (the review on the way.). read more
