In the kitchen, the husband was cooking up a storm, making sandwiches as fast as he could. The family looks like a melting pot of people from all over, with the central tree in the restaurant bearing arrow signs of their various origins. Cincinnati, St. Croix, and Mexico city are represented. In general, the restaurant has a great feel. I order one of their versions of a reuben, they had a few different takes, this one seems the most like a classic. It was delicious, great decision. Good amount of meat, kraut, tasty dressing, nicely buttered and grilled rye. I opted for the slight upcharge and got fries with my sandwich, they were nicely crisp on the outside and very tasty. Because of how busy they are it was difficult to get a drink refill on this hot day, but I helped myself to one, and that was fine. I have no way of knowing currently the state of affairs at this business, because downtown Hendersonville saw a large amount of flooding. We completely understood that we were early and would have been more than happy to wait for a seat to open up. Instead, the receptionist seemed visibly annoyed that we had arrived when we did and spoke to us rather dismissively, suggesting that we go to a bar down the street instead. We ultimately took that suggestion and went elsewhere. We ended up having such a pleasant experience at another restaurant that we decided to stay there for dinner and did not return for our reservation. It was disappointing, especially because we've enjoyed the food at Postero in the past. We weren't expecting to be seated early or accommodated immediately, just a welcoming interaction while we waited. Unfortunately, the way we were treated made us feel as though our business wasn't particularly wanted, so we chose to spend our evening somewhere that made us feel more welcome.

When paying for our party of 6, the young gentleman at the counter kept saying that we had 7 buffets instead of 6. In addition, he told us drinks were a part of the meal, but never told my family they were an upcharge. Thankfully our party decided to have all waters. While walking to our table, I noticed that many of the menu items were empty or low. For example, the taco bar area had no food and the salad bar was extremely low. This made me a little nervous, but I kept an open mind. After being seated we were greeted with an extremely friendly waitress. She came back to the table often refilling our drinks and took our empty plates off the table. Although we had a wonderful waitress our visit did not go very well, which is why I am giving Golden Corral a low rating. During the whole visit no items on the buffet were refilled, which was appalling due to the high volume of customers enjoying dinner. They actually ran out of pizza, yams, baked potatoes, and taco bar items. The salad bar was completely depleted. In addition the food was extremely bland and not the same quality as other Golden Corrals that we have been too. Maybe Henderson had a rough night? But only having half of your buffet bar partially filled is appalling. On the other hand the restaurant was clean, with no visible dirt. The staff we encountered were friendly and our waitress was phenomenal. However, if our family was in the area again, we would probably try another restaurant in the area.
