I recently went here with a Groupon for a 90min massage with Hot Stones; Emily did my massage. Overall it was really great and relaxing. I only have a couple issues: 1. There was noise outside the room from people leaving and entering the hallway which made it difficult to fully relax, along with some rumbling from the subway 2. The hot stones weren't used to their full potential (they were only used on my back and not to rub out kinks on neck, shoulders, legs and thighs) Except for those 2 things I really enjoyed my massage and generously tipped Emily. I will definitely return again and will try some of the other services they offer. Highly recommend especially if you live in the area and want a quality massage without going too far! read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars. I purchased a Groupon for a COUPLES MASSAGE around Valentine's Day for my girlfriend and I. I booked my appointment almost 2 months in advance. Over the phone, the receptionist wrote down BOTH OF OUR NAMES for the couples massage. Last time I checked, a "couple" = 2. The day before the scheduled appointment, which we had waited 2 months for, somebody called and to confirm my "couples massage for one person". ... ... ... Couples massage for one person??? Despite the fact that A) couple = 2 and B) she had written down both of our names The worst part is that the woman on the phone was completely unapologetic and asked both of us to rearrange our work schedules to reschedule the massage for earlier in the day. After I repeated several times that we were both teachers and could not simply take off work 4 hours early. I have not heard back from Hot Hands Studio since then, despite calling and leaving a message to reschedule the massage. Maybe Hot Hands does not consider two women together as a couple???? I bought a groupon for Hot Hands ($65 for premium spa package) and used it in June 2012. The massage itself was very good, but the entire experience was NOT relaxing. In short, the office staff was not very professional. I made an appointment to see a female masseuse, then called to reschedule because I was sick. The day before my rescheduled appointment, I attempted to call to confirm that it would be with a woman. No one picked up. The day of my appointment I called several times throughout the day - no one picked up. I showed up to my appointment, and found out that they had booked me with a Damien (male). I explained that I had wanted a female massage therapist. I waited around while he attempted to see if they could accomodate me. After waiting for half an hour, Damien launched into a long explanation - it was someone's day off, so unless I wanted to wait for another TWO hours I should reschedule. He offered me an extra $20 off the next treatment I buy and recommended I get an $80 facial (I should mention I have bad skin and I'm very self-conscious about it!!!) He also told me that he hopes I buy additional services because he tries to use groupon to attract new customers. Sure, maybe I would have benefitted from a facial, and I'm sure he has his reasons for offering specials on groupon, but it seemed so odd! An upsell and information I don't particularly want- when I haven't even gotten my massage yet. I felt very uncomfortable. (Here are some things that would have made up for the scheduling mix-up: an extra ten minutes of massaging, a free sample, or just an apology!) Minus an additional star because when I returned for my massage, the receptionist was snacking, and then was complaining loudly with another employee about their work schedule, busy day, plans for later that night. The standard massage session time is 50 minutes here (not an hour), but I didn't even get that. We started at 6:10 and by 6:50, she was done and had left. 40 minutes? I got my first massage ever here with a Living Social Deal (hour long massage for $35). The people who scheduled my massage messed up, but I went in for my massage at the scheduled time and got it then. When it was finished and I was feeling relaxed, I left the massage room and got scolded by the owner about how I came in at the wrong time, when I know that it was the time that the receptionist told me over the phone only two days before. I received a facial and massage from Hot Hand Studio & Spa back on April 2015. It was mediocre. The facial wasn't anything special and the massage wasn't relaxing and just left me very oily. I decided that this place wasn't for me for facials and massages. Then last week I saw a Groupon deal for Brazilian waxing. Even though I wasn't impressed with Hot Hands with my previous experience, I decided to give them a try again because they are really close to where I live. I've never had a Brazilian wax before and I decided to try the sugar wax. I made an appointment for 6/21 at 4:30 pm. I get a call from Alexis telling me that they need to reschedule because the beautician won't be there. I rescheduled for 6/20 at 4:30 pm. However, when I showed up, the receptionist (Annmarie, I think) said that it wasn't on the books and the beautician isn't there. Since there was no one available for waxing, I ended up rescheduling for 6/22 at 4:30 pm. They did comp me for 1 waxing session due to their mistake. I wish the fiasco ended there. Unfortunately, it did not. I got a call to confirm my appointment the night of 6/21. Then at 11:27 am on 6/22 I get a call from Dana asking me to move my appointment to 6 pm. At 2:43 pm, I get a call from Damien telling me that he's cancelling my appointment because the beautician that does sugar waxing is taking care of some personal business. Up to this point, I've been civil with them even though they've made one mistake after another. After giving Damien a piece of my mind, he asked me to hold and he'll see what he can do. I ended up getting a 4:15 pm appointment for normal waxing. The beautician was professional and the waxing was not too bad. After the appointment, the receptionist said that Damien will comp a massage in the future. However, I wasn't impressed with their massages in the past and after this scheduling fiasco, I will not go to Hot Hands again even if it's free. read more

I have been to this place for massage for 3 times now, the massages were great the first 2 times, but i went there for the 3rd time yesterday was just ok. the masseuse is just alright, she asked me where i do need to work on the most, i said neck/shoulder because i am on my computer all day, i dont think she spent extra time, then dont bother to ask if you dont plan to listen to your customer. The receipionst was horrible. she seems high on drugs. i walked in with no one in the lobby, i sat there alone for 5 mins, she finally walked out while chewing food. she wasn't apologetic at all. Today I had a facial from Ana. She was extremely gentle (no extractions, thank goodness!) and knowledgeable. She gave me some "recipes" for Ayurvedic home remedies I can make for my skin and suggested some other skincare products. I've only had a handful of facials in my life, but this was by far the best and, per Ana's suggestion, I will definitely be back again in 5-6 weeks for another. So I come to the spa for one of two reasons, either I want a super indulgent day of pampering, or my skin looks terrible or my back is achy and I really need a massage and/or facial. I would recommend Hot Hands for anyone looking for the latter. If you are expecting a pool, sauna, or other fancy spa amenities, it's not happening. While they try to do the most with the room they have the ambiance isn't the most relaxing. But the services I received were very good. I got a massage and a facial, and my massage was wonderful. The masseuse did a great job with appropriate pressure, and didn't try to talk which I appreciate! Nothing worse than a chatty masseuse. My facial was...informative. Weird adjective for a spa treatment, but the lady who did my facial really took her time to explain every process, and made great recommendations for my skin. My only issue was that there was absolutely no element of relaxation. In the middle of the facial I was asked to answer a bunch of questions for their file; name, address, allergies, that kind of stuff. But that really should be done before. Like I said, the facial was good and my skin looked great afterwards, but it wasn't relaxing. I would go back because the services I received were very good, and the price is right. But for a spa getaway situation I would look elsewhere. read more

I was really happy with the facial I had here. The room was really comfortable and they put a hot water pillow under your legs which feels amazing. There were all sorts of organic customized selected potions massaged into my skin and I felt like the pampered princess I rarely get to be. I was impressed with how professional everyone was here. I was so sure that when I finished with the facial I would get a sales pitch on buying into their membership program or purchasing fancy products, but that didn't happen. I never write reviews but I want to warn people not to waste their money here on a massage. I got a groupon for a $65 which included a 50 minute swedish massage, 15 minute hot stone, 15 minute reflexology, and 15 minute scalp massage. That should sum up to an hour and 35 minutes. My treatment ended in less than an hour. Kathy was my masseuse. She was very nice, and I could tell that she was making an effort to give me a good massage, but it was a poor massage at best and I didn't get the time I was promised. She gave me a $20 off coupon, but even with a discount, this place is not worth it. Would never go back here and don't recommend it at all. read more

I used the $40 Yelp deal and it was a gift from my wife. I normally don't do massages, but i had been in need of one for a while. Hot Hands does a great job of making you feel like you are in a separate world as soon as you walk in. The ambiance inside is top notch. My only issue with this is that I only recieved a 40 minute massage for the voucher. Yeah its only 10 minutes off, but i would have expected that they at least go for the full time!! I decided not to make a fuss about it and figured it was still a good deal. I would try this place again, but definitely think there might be better options in the city. read more

He used hot lotion and towels to relax my muscles and it felt great. The Spa itself is simple but clean and relaxing. I've been going to this place off and on for about 2years. At first I tried it only when Groupons were available, but I got hooked. They are always so professional, understanding, and often try to give you discounts whenever possible. I love this place so much I now have a monthly membership! ChrisIris is my new favorite therapist and I request her every month. Her massages have helped my back pain exponentially! She listens to your needs, suggests ways to improve your pain, and has a technique that always leaves my body feeling incredibly refreshed. She takes pride in her work and it shows. I'm always hesitant to start a monthly membership, as I work 7 days a week and don't have much income to spare. But I can genuinely say that this membership is worth it. I've had it for 5 months now and look forward to each new massage. They give me $2 back in account credit for each visit and are really understanding about rolling over unused massages from a busy month into the next month for free. I'm excited about the new products they are offering including CBD oils, tinctures, and creams. I tried a $10 sample packet of one of their creams and it really helped my lower back pain while I was at work. I look forward to trying more in the future. I have been to Hot Hands a couple of times. Recently I had a Groupon and decided to use it. The team calls and reminds you of your appointment and they are super friendly. I had an appointment around 3pm when one of the area schools was letting out so parking was a nightmare. I was flustered because I was now late but the woman at the front was willing to work out a few options. When I arrived Damien was notified and he came out very soon. I guess my stress was written all over my face. He asked me what I had going on and I spilled my guts a bit but it was nice to just let it go before my massage. He's very professional. I was comfortable the entire time. Even though I was late hw was able to fit in a very good full body massage. He even massages the scalp as well. They have that as an add-on so I definitely need to give that a shot. Anyways I walked out feeling much better than I did when I arrived. The girl who did the massage was very nice and did a lovely massage but it was not the deep tissue massage I really needed. I asked once--when does the pain start...and also told her that she could feel free to be a little more intense and she told me on both occasions that she didn't like to hurt people. Damien is miraculous. I have been to see many massage therapists and I am a bit picky about where I go. A fellow teacher recommended Hot Hands and I went there one day at the end of the school year in rough shape. My legs and back were killing me from so much standing and I hadn't been able to sleep well because of the stress. The receptionist was warm and helpful, and I felt very welcome there. I got a facial from Stephanie. She is really sweet and gentle. I have had facials before that were very painful (due to acne care) and she made it only enjoyable. It trully felt like a spa experience. I have also been chatting with her, as if with a shrink on the couch (ha ha). The whole place is relaxing and well decorated. It felt super clean, and they offered robes and slippers. Elizabeth gave me a facial and she was fantastic. She explained everything she did, and wrote down a list of recommendations and home facial remedies to try for my skin type. Then I had Emily for a massage and she asked about pressure right away. Small place (though you have to expect that in a city rowhouse) but clean, the people were friendly and it was one of the best massage experiences we have ever had. I bought a living social voucher for my girlfriend and me. This was to be my first ever massage, and she's had several in the past at other locations. The entire experience was extremely positive. The atmosphere was just right, my 50 minute massage was fantastic. The masseuse didn't talk too much but just enough to make sure I was getting what I needed. Damien the owner, who was also my girlfriend's masseuse, was great, discussing different things he can do for us if we're ever celebrating a special occasion. He let me know what their available services are without being a pushy salesman about it. I will absolutely be going back, and likely making it a regular routine. The woman who gave me my facial was extremely knowledgeable and gave me a lot of homemade remedies for my skin rather than trying to hawk some expensive face cream. My winter-worn skin came out of the spa glowing and moisturized. I got a massage from the owner and he was attentive to my comfort and asked if the pressure was to my liking. don't recommend this place. The therapist was fine, but the boss was mean. They forgot my hot stone and told me that I could come back for another massage/pay then I can get the hot stone for free. Are you kidding me? You should have told me before I got the service! And, why should customers visit/pay again for the service that you forgot? It seems to have done it on purpose... Also, when I called to check the availability before I visited, they asked me not to purchase at Groupon. So, I went there without buying the ticket at Groupon. I tried to be considerate of them. I redeemed my groupon today for a much needed swedish massage. The studio itself is neat, clean, and looks nice. Everyone was friendly....even when I accidentally opened the wrong door to one of the massage rooms...thinking it was the rest room. Anywho....Kate was really awesome and friendly. The whole process was so relaxing, a great way to destress from a really crazy week. I've only had a few massages in my life - and could get used to it on a regular bases.
