I was here with a bunch of others who were looking for a spicy kick and this place did not disappoint. A Chinese woman who has been here plenty of times ordered the following 8 dishes and it was a plentiful amount of food for the price (I believe around 20 bucks or so.) Before I begin, special thanks to Google Lens for the direct translations from their online menu. As with other places with a lot of dishes, I'll be splitting it by preference: Excellent: Dry Mixed Beef/干拌牛肉/Ganban Niurou. This was outstanding. Very nice texture to the dried meat with a lot of flavor and kick. It was finished very quickly at the table Beef With Bean Curd Sauce/豆花 牛肉片/Douhua Niurou Pian. I've had this dish the more traditional style with fish which we didn't order as we were already getting another fish dish but I preferred it with beef. The beef had a wonderful flavor from the bean curd. Would also highly recommend. Very good: Boiled Sliced Fish in Hot Chili Sauce/水煮鱼/Shui Zhu Yu. Also very tasty. Fish was very tender but not as spicy as some people thought it would be. Smokey wok tossed green peppers//虎皮尖椒/Hu Pi Jian Jiao. This was the surprise hit of the table. The name of the dish translates to tiger skin peppers from the texture of them being smoked. There was a bit of Russian roulette as some of them had the head with all the seeds but some of them were not spicy. I'm usually not that big a fan of regular peppers but this was good. Sautéed pea shoots/豆苗/Doumio. Nicely flavored and a good little extra dish to go with the rest. Not too much oil also. Good Sautéed String Beans With Minced Pork/干煸四季豆/Gan Bian Si Ju Dou. This was good but it was hard to take the pork. The string beans had a good texture though. Stir Fried Lamb With Cumin/孜然羊肉/Zi Ran Yang Rou. Unfortunately the cumin was a bit too light. Alright lamb. Double Cooked Pork With Chili Leeks/回鍋肉/Hui Guo Rou. Tasty but as per the previous dish, I preferred the version from the restaurant a few doors down as the pork had better texture there and it was less chewy. The person who had been here said that this was the one dish that wasn't as good as last time she was there along with the lamb. There was also free cabbage like other tables as a palate cleanser in-between all the spice though we didn't get as big a portion as a smaller table nearby but it wasn't really an issue. Overall the food was very tasty. Not many complaints especially with the three or four best dishes. The cumin lamb and the double pork were the odd disappointments in a sea of very good dishes but overall it was reasonable and very tasty and I can see why she liked the place prior. Hot Kitchen remains one of my most favorite Szechuan restaurants. Ditto to everything I wrote in my previous reviews. I've been coming to this restaurant for quite a number of years, and they have been consistently great. Hospitality and service has always been welcoming, accommodating and friendly. The only slight drawback is that not all of the staff speaks English; however, there is usually at least one person there at most times, who does. Seek them out if you don't speak Mandarin. Ordered food to go for the first time. I would have given 5 stars, but.... POSITIVES -Authentic and flavorful Sichuan flavors -Prepared quickly and everything was still hot after getting home. NEGATIVES -Sautéed Omasum (beef tripe) was very hard and chewy. Went back recently for lunch & it was as amazing as I remember. Just to let you know they doing indoor dining again! You will have to bring your vaccine card & ID to be seated, and I think they are still cash only. I totally recommend the string beans, dan dan noodled & the boiled sliced fish. I get it everytime I go, and it has never failed. I will say its not very spicy/numby but it tastes SOOO good. I finally tried the chongqing chicken for the first time and it was really good! A bit spicier than their other items, but still isnt a mind blowing spice. My friend and I agreed that it was good to have with rice but it really suits being a drinking (beer) snack. Came here a 2nd time and ordered: Wonton in chili oil: really good and decent sized (I prefer this here than at Szechuan House next door but both are good) Dan dan noodles: ok, I think Szechuan House does it slightly better due to the garlic they add Beef tendon: was given a good amount of beef tendon and has a more peppercorn taste; not as soft or thinly sliced as S.H., but the flavors are different and depending on what you like, it could go either way - I'm a fan of both! The decor is basic and clean. The service was ok though at the time I went, it was only 3 tables with customers. The 2nd time I had it, it was maybe too crispy for me, but still tasty. Beef w/ Bean Curd Sauce - just as good the 2nd time around. Spicy Chili Beef - sweet, like beef jerky. The 2nd time, I was already over the novelty of it. Hot Pepper Veggie with Beef - this beef dish with less sauce tastes pretty good to me, though it's not spicy (which was why some people didn't like it). Shredded Beef with Fresh Hot Pepper: This other beef dish with a lot of sauce, practically a soup, was not to my liking, but other people liked it. Came here for hot pot with my family, first we were not impressed with the restaurant set up and the environment, but as soon as we were seated the hot pot came in nice bowl where one side is vegetarian and one side is non veg, the soup was so flavor except our complain was there was to much Sichuan pepper and red pepper. They gave us so much food more than we could eat. The people work here don't understand English but they are so nice . If you are looking for authentic Hot pot this is good place but can get unexpected crowd. Parking is on street we were lucky to find right in front . For about $23, you get an initial plate of food to put in the hot pot and the hot pot itself. Of course, I always order some extras. My favorites are: lamb slices, fish balls, ALL types of mushrooms, cabbage and more. The spicy soup is my favorite and they have a very good one. I thoroughly enjoyed the hot pot. In addition, I've tried fried corn, a clear gelatin type dish with shrimp and tofu, and an eggplant dish. DUDE all of these are FIRE. The fried corn??? Yo, tell popcorn his era is over. The menu items price had gone up. The food is still delicious, but the quality went down a little. Some side dish is also no longer served, the service is still good, except the boss always sounds lazy. If you order takeouts remember to tell the waiter/waitress to add a little less soup in dishes that contains soup, I have met several situation where there's too many soup, that the whole bag got all oily. However, the foods is still very good and I will be visiting the restaurant at least once a week. This is one of my favorite place to get the cold chicken with chili sauce. Their chicken is really tender and soft, and they have onions in their sauce, which gives it a distinct sweet flavor that other places don't have. It's spicy scale is about like 7/10 for me but it's just enough spice to enjoy without feeling uncomfortable. Their boiled sliced fish in hot chili sauce (106) is also really good. It's an authentic Sichuan restaurant in flushing! Always go for the hotpot but the other dishes look tasty too! The soup is so spicy that you have to drink water on every bite. But it's a really traditional taste of Sichuan spicy hotpot. Your tongue will feel numb too. Their food is tasty and fresh. The lady and another guy are good in service. I went there around 12:15 on a Monday as a single customer, ordered a lunch special that includes soup and rice. Usually in other Chinese restaurants for lunch specials, there are options for soups. But the waitress didn't bother to ask me. So I guess she knew what I wanted. After I placed the order and waited for the soup, a lady came in and told the waitress she was with a party of four. So she was there waiting for other three people. Let me call this group as the first one after me. 3 or 5 minutes, a second group came in. There were four of them and they knew exactly what they wanted. So they quickly placed the order. I could hear one of them was the same as mine. Then the three customers for the first group all showed up, they placed the order. While I was still waiting for my soup, the waitress brought soups and dishes for the second group. One of the dishes was what I ordered too. I kept quiet and just played with my phone and waited for my soup. After three minutes, I saw the waiter brought in a plate with soup and walking toward me. I put down my phone and was eager to eat. It's been twenty minutes since I ordered. To my dismay, the waiter gave the dish to the first group. At this point, I was too hungry to say a word, so I left. So the motto of service of this restaurant is, we will serve customers based on the numbers, not on first come first served. I understand larger groups get first priority. But I was left behind not just once, but twice! No apologies, no explanation, just took me for granted. A good restaurant should treat all customers nicely. If you are not with four people, don't ever go there. Because you will be ignored for a long time.
