First time dining here even though I've walked by here for years. Came here on a Wednesday and there was a wait. Pro about this is that it's a good sign that the food should be good. Con about this is, I didn't realize there would be a wait so I didn't bother making reservations on Google so we had to wait 40 mins. No seats so we decided to go hang out at tangram while we waited and waiting for her text/call. The little one has been hyped up so much from mukbangs that she's constantly craving crawfish. I mentioned to her that a couple places in Flushing sell crawfish Chinese style and she wanted to try. Did a search on Yelp and saw someone recently raved about the crawfish here. Every order of crawfish comes in 2lbs and we ordered the spiced flavored one. This crawfish gets an A++. Little one loved the flavors and freshness. So tasty. Not only that, but these were probably the biggest crawfish we've ever seen! Even the claws had meat! We also loved how they chopped off the top of the head to removed the "filter". We also ordered a couple small dishes to try. For cold apps we ordered the pigs ear and okra. We love the crunchy texture of the pigs ear and the more we ate it, the more addicting it got to eat. Okra was also a bit. For the skewers, we ordered the lamb beef and intestine. Honestly the lamb and beef skewers were probably the worst ones we've ever tried. It was a struggle to finish them. The meat was tasteless, hard and overcooked. No fat ratio at all. The pig intestines were perfectly cooked. Love when it's crispy. We love finding a place that's been around that's actually a huge hit for us. We will be back. If you spend $120, they will gift you a huge carafe of passion fruit tea. read more

One of my favorite spots for bullfrog dishes--everything is so flavorful and done right every time. The food is consistently delicious, and you can tell they really know what they're doing. Customer service was excellent from start to finish. We felt genuinely welcomed, and the whole experience was smooth and enjoyable. The menu has a great variety, so there's always something new to try. We had such a great time dining here--definitely a place I'd keep coming back to. read more

The only place I'll visit to eat grilled fish, they know what they're doing. I usually get one 2lb fish (I forget which one I always ask for whichever one has less bones lol). I usually go for the spicy flavor but have tried their pickled pepper both of which are good. They have non spicy too if you can't take heat. For toppings I just get the golden combination. This is usually enough for 2 ppl, especially with rice. I do like their roasted in shell oysters, they're large and fresh! The space feels hip and young, has sort of a bar vibe. Theres usually some Chinese music video playing on the large screen downstairs and upstairs. A bit steam punk with the hardwares and chain decors. It would be fantastic if they had draft beer here but unfortunately only bottled. Thats why it's 4 stars for me not 5. The type of food here pairs so well with beer! read more

Every time I come here to Hot Space Grilled Fish, I leave with a smile! The service is amazing but more importantly I come here for the spicy crawfish, which is so delicious that I have to take some to-go with me. The sauce is so good, it has just the right amount of spice and complexity in different levels. The crawfish is seasonal so there are plenty of other seafood and great appetizers too. They provide plastic gloves and bibs to keep the food off of your clothes when you are cracking claws and chowing down. I wish we had some places like this in Maryland so I don't have to drive so far for a taste. For now, I will be taking at least two trays back home for the ride! read more

A party of 5 and myself enjoyed a food crawl in Flushing yesterday. Our first stop was Hot Space where we had our main meal. The ambiance was pleasant. The service was excellent. The price was reasonable. Because we ordered a certain amount, we received complimentary sparkling peach water served in a tower dispenser. The main dish was grilled sea bass. You pick your own add-ons. We added enoki mushrooms, tofu, rice cake, noodles, and other veggies. I thought the fish was ok but a little bland. Other dishes included fish tofu, cold tofu with 100 year old egg which was yummy, and eggplant with garlic sauce which was not. To top it off, we received an unexpected complimentary jelly dessert. I would have to give this restaurant an "A" for effort, but the food quality just didn't have that "Wow" factor. Overall, I'll give this eatery a "not bad" 4 stars. I been wanting to try here for so long since they also had a location in Brooklyn. The inside ambiance was joyous, packed with people on a weekend afternoon. Everything was ordered through their iPad. Their Sichuan cold chicken can have one salivating. I enjoyed it more than their cold Duck. which didn't have much meat. For the main dish, we choose a fish, followed by the flavor. We opted for 2 flavors, so we got to try both the spicy and the garlic. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of this grilled fish cuisine style, as the given fish doesn't do a good job in absorbing all the encompassing flavor. Love, Love this place! On a recent visit to Flushing, my wife and I took our friends there for Chongqing Spicy Fish and we were not disappointed! We had a great experience in their Edison, NJ location in 2022, and this one was also excellent. We ordered the spicy fish - we chose firm because we did not want fish to disintegrate too much - with tofu, asparagus lettuce, lotus roots, etc. as vegetables , and got a cucumber w/ soy sauce app & a sharable drink of Kumquat Lemon Iced Tea, all on their handy tablet. We were busy enjoying their signature dried nuts and the cucumber arrived quickly. It's slightly spicy but also crunchy and sweet - a refreshing way to get your mouth watering. Fish came pretty quickly and we did not have to wait long to dig in. Our "firm" fish was flaky and nicely held together while delivering full might of Chongqing spicy sauce in every bite. Four of us had plenty to eat, along with all the veggies. I especially recommend the asparagus lettuce which gives you crunch, right amount of sauce-absorption ratio, and bite feel, and the Fuzhu, the dried beancurd that acts as sauce retainer. While there is heat and numbing effect from the chili and the peppercorns, it was not too spicy to eat, even for our one Caucasian companion (but, he's married to Chinese woman and pretty trained in spice) and the kumquat iced tea definitely helps cleanse/cool your palate as needed! They also bring you this milky grass jelly drink for dessert, which my friend absolutely loved, and we finished our meal with bellies content & full. Absolutely love this place! They serve fish that's simmered slowly over a shallow dish. I love that you can also get a garlic option which is not spicy but extremely flavorful. Some of the flavors come with its own ingredients such as tofu and seaweed. The fish is cooked perfectly and stays nice and hot, so you won't be able to stop eating. You can also order additional side dishes such as tripe and tofu with century egg. Their skewers are incredible, delicious seasoning and a little kick to it too. The portions are quite large for the fish so it's definitely a shareable experience. You can also get a free tower of their house made juices if you spend over $120. Visited on sundat evening. You can get into waiting line via minitable. Easily found on their website or google map. Wait time varies. I was placed 18th. Took about 45 minutes but this can be longer. There is a small waiting bench where you can wait in case you arrive early. Parking- there are plenty of paid garage. There are plenty of street parking but always full. Don't violate traffic laws. There are many traffic cops. You will be ticketed in less than 15 minutes ( happened to me) Inside of the restaurant is very clean. Some chair cushions are destroyed but they usually give you a seperate cushion mat They will put your coat or belongings in a large plastic bag, so they dont soak up the smell. They give you a plate of nuts as a starter. Beef stick - well cooked. It tastes really good. Tastes like actuall fire bbq. They bring it in plate and take the meats out for you Big mouth bass- very soft. Crispy skin. I had hot soft tofu flavor. Its pretty spicy. It comes with soft food. I chose 4 add-on package - enoki mushroom, loot, seaweed knot, potato and kelp. And cabbage. This was more than enough for 2 people. We also got two appetizers, beef tongue and tripe with chili oil, a little spicy but overall pretty refreshing. Garlic flavor is tasty, garlicky as it sounds but I did enjoy the spicy tofu fish better. It came with potatoes, radishes, and some other items. Be careful as there are some bones. Great flavor, there's a small fire underneath keeping it warm. It even comes with some wide noodles which were great additions. you put that liquid goodness on top of your rice and wow, amazing. Fresh and tasty. Would come back. If you ordered X amount of food, I think if it was over $100, you get a free drink. We got like a pineapple drink or something, enough for maybe 8 small cups of drinks. Refreshing and just what we needed. Overall, amazing place, great food but was pretty pricey, two fish pots, $10 udon, a drink and 5 small rices, and I think two appetizers rung us around $250 but would still come back and maybe not get the appetizers next time. Exceeding my expectations every visit, Hot Space is repeatedly a Flushing favorite of mine. If you can handle the heat, come here for sure!! Some MUST READ suggestions for first time restaurant goers: - Must-have appetizer is the cumin lamb skewers if you like juicy, spicy meat rich in flavour. - Now for the fish (main course): Get the 'spicy tofu pudding sauce'... it might sound weird in name but it's fantastic. Striped bass is a great fish, but allow the staff to make recommendations. I believe certain things, when in season, are especially good. Let the staff cut the fish open for you too, as it can be intimidating to approach that huge slab. They know EXACTLY what they're doing. - For additional toppings for the fish, mung bean noodles complement the fish perfectly, as well as the cabbage or whatever greens they have and enoki mushrooms. I like the soft tofu with it too, but you can choose whether or not that fits your palate. - And lastly, medium spice level is ok for a spice lover, but it's not crazy. You can let them know you want a bit spicier than that... but not TOO much, or the cooks might punish you like they did to me once. ------------------------------------------------ Just to compliment this place a bit more...The fish is perfectly cooked every single time. Yeah, it's bony, but that's par for the course when ordering an entire ginormous fish. The staff is so friendly and greets us every time we come in (even though we're still sad our favorite guy left). The staff was super friendly, much nicer than any other restaurants in Flushing. The options on the menu are various with great flexibility. Customers are able to choose from their entrees to sides for their grill combos. We had Barramundi as our fish with Enoki Mushroom, Cabbage, Cauliflower and Soft Tofu in garlic flavor. The portion was decent with reasonable price. The fish was cooked soft & tender and the sides in the pot were braised so flavorful. The garlic based broth was super appetizing and we couldn't stop eating until we finished all. We can feel that the owner and the staff would like to do their best from service to dishes. Hot space Trendy restaurant with lightbulbs in pipes as decor. When you walk in you are immediately greeted with the aromatics of the spices. Scan the QR code to get on the waiting line and you will receive a text when your table is ready. Lines can be long but it is definitely worth the wait. When you are seated, they give you an assortment of nuts and sunflower seeds to start off with. We ordered the Large Mouth Bass which was really delicious and that's coming from a person who doesn't really like fish. Make sure to get the vegetable combination as the sauce emulsifies them. If you can't finish, you can definitely take it to go, they will be happy to wrap it for you. We went there during dinner time and it was really busy. First floor was full so we went to the second floor. We got seated and they brought us some snacks(peanuts, some kind of roasted bean and watermelon seed). At least you can munch on something while looking through the menu. We ordered grill fish(live big mouth bass) with spicy tofu pudding flavor($59.95), pickled pepper bullfrog($58.95) and spiced live crayfish($29.95 for two pounds). Spicy pudding flavor grill fish and pickled pepper frog were pretty spicy. If you can't handle spicy, don't get either one of them! With these three dishes, it can feed up to 6 people. Big mouth fish was really tender and packed with lots of punch from the spicy sauce. They grilled the whole fish without removing any of the bones, expect lots of fish bones. Bullfrog is really popular here. If you like frog, then this is definitely a place to for. Very tender as many people said, it tastes like chicken. I am a fan. The spicy crayfish was not as spicy as the other two, but it was still spicy. They removed the front head of the crayfish. The meat was sweet and cooked perfectly. You can always ask them if it is in the season. They will tell you. As long as you order more than $100 or more, they will give you 1.5L of flavored sparkling water as a complimentary. If they didn't say anything, ask them! At the end of the meal, they will offer you sweet jelly dessert. The food and the service were great. Definitely add the bean sheet noodles so it can suck up some of the soup to make a chewy gummy addition. The barramundi fish was soft and tender and didn't have much bones to pick through which was nice. If you order more than $100 you get a free liter of seltzer ( the passion fruit flavor is great)! At the end of the meal comes with a free grass jelly dessert though it was served to us lukewarm (it tastes infinitely times better with some ice). Also the service was really good here! Came here on Friday at 6PM for two and was able to be seated immediately, but when we left there was a LONG line waiting so I recommend coming early. I tried once before on a Friday around 8 and the estimated wait time was over 2 hours. We got the barramundi in the spicy tofu pudding flavor. The barramundi was super soft and well cooked and the tofu pudding flavor/broth was amaaazing. Came with a ton of soft tofu and wasn't TOO spicy or too salty but had a ton of flavor. We also added enoki mushrooms and cauliflower. I thought it was a bit expensive at $3 each but they gave you a ton of each. We also got the clam appetizer which was good but they fill the bottom of the bowl with cucumbers so you actually don't get that many clams lol. A lot of people seemed to order the sparkling water towers (like a beer tower). They were cute colors! We got the peach iced tea and it was super sweet/syrupy so we had to pour extra water into it. Came for a really late lunch and we were seated right away. While you wait for your fish to be prepared, they give you a platter of mixed nuts to snack on. The portions are huge even though they say the fish only feeds 2 people. It can easily feed 4. There were 5 of us, and we were pretty full after devouring it. Ordered: - Big mouth bass ($55.95) - pretty good fish, wasn't too soft or firm. It soaked in the soup base well. you get to choose up to 4 toppings. We chose: chinese cabbage, enoki mushrooms, tofu, and kelp. - Double Flavor Pot ($10) - we opted for a spicy tofu pudding and a tomato base. If you order the double flavor pot, they cut the fish in half for you and split it between the broths. - Tomato Base - sweet and sour, went really well with the fish, and good option for those that can't handle spicy food. (4.5/5 rating) - Spicy Tofu Pudding Base - not too spicy even though it looks intimidating and bright red. This side definitely has a greasier broth from the layer of chili oil, but on a scale of 1-10 for spice, I would say it's around a 6-7, definitely manageable. If you have a high spice tolerance, this would most likely feel like a level 3-4. (4.5/5 rating - Complimentary grass jelly after your meal.
