The family and I have been coming to this hot pot place for years. Everyone loves hot pot, especially during cold weather, and my kids in particular have a huge appetite for it. We usually come here when the cravings hit or to celebrate family occasions. The prices are very reasonable and generally under $30 per person. We were last here about a week ago and it was $28 per adult, while kids were $14 (half-priced). I did notice prices increased by about $1 over the past year, but that's expected. Another thing I really appreciate is how easy it is to dine here. We've come on a Saturday night for dinner without a reservation and were able to walk right in. Most of the time, walk-ins aren't an issue, which is really nice. A while back, they used to have you mark hotpot ingredients on a paper menu and staff would bring them to your table. Over the past couple of years, they've switched to an ingredient bar at the back of the restaurant where you can grab your own noodles, vegetables, seafood, and sauces. There are empty plates, bowls, and saucers available, making it easy to customize your spread. The only items you still need to order verbally are the hot pot meats, which makes the overall experience much more efficient and you can get to cooking quickly! Here's my favorite way to make a dipping sauce for hotpot: garlic + basic soy sauce / house sauce, a pinch of spice sauce + top with a lot of green onions cuttings. And there you have it! The ingredient selection is decent including several types of noodles like udon, glass noodles, and ramen. They have my favorite vegetables like watercress and bok choy as well as some of my favorites proteins: shrimp, mussels, quail eggs, fish cakes, cubes and balls. There is a peanut sauce available at the sauce bar, but I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone with food allergies or strict dietary restrictions, as cross-contamination could easily happen with the shared setup. One of our favorite appetizer items -- which is free with the AYCE and not at the ingredient bar -- is the fried buns with condensed milk. They're listed on the menu and are absolutely delicious. We usually order multiple rounds as our kids love them, and so do I. When it comes to drinks, everything is ordered à la carte. They offer soft drinks, alcohol, and smoothies. I ordered a mango and pineapple smoothie for $7, which was quite sizable and very refreshing. You can also order a single-fruit smoothie for $6. For broth options, there are only two choices: a bone broth or a spicy broth. If you have kids, I recommend the non-spicy option. The broth can get a little fatty after cooking all the ingredients in it and is enough for flavor. We came as a family of 6 and opted not to squeeze into one booth. We asked to sit at 2 adjacent hybrid booth tables and requested an additional hot pot for the 2nd table, and they were very accommodating. One of the servers also speaks Cantonese, which was very helpful for our family. One small piece of feedback for the owners: for places like this, it would be great to have disposable gloves available at the ingredient bar. I always appreciate seeing that extra level of consideration for cleanliness. Lastly, just a heads-up that gratuity is automatically added to the check for parties of two or more. Make sure to review your bill before adding an extra tip -- unless, of course, you want to tip more. Overall, this is one of our family's favorite places for hot pot when we want a no-fuss, no-cleanup meal. It's a solid experience that doesn't break the bank, especially for large families. The fact that they focus solely on hot pot -- without additional barbecue meats or grills -- helps keep it surprisingly affordable. The restaurant is also connected to a Mexican bar so your receipt is gonna ring out with that place as a vendor and this restaurant is next to "Noodle Delight" (likely same owners?) if you're looking for authentic Chinese food in a more traditional setting. Not sure if it's intention, when they presented the bill details, they folded the bill so you won't easily see the back end with breakdown because it's folded. Love hotpot and an all you can one is even better. I come here once in awhile. Its my go to place for me and my sister. Its one of the places you go to for comfort food. The thing is it might be a bit weird that you go thru a mexican place to enter but i found out its one owner. So makes sense. I'm not into super spicy stuff. So i prefer the regular soup base. My number 1 hot pot spot! I have been here several times and my friends and I still keep going there! It is usually empty at noon/lunch and you basically have the place yourself. It gets busier in the late afternoon to around 7 PM. It is around $27 per person but comes with unlimited meat, veggies, and soup mix. ALL YOU CAN EAT! You have to pay for the drinks. We usually get the best of both worlds soup and it is a mixture of the original and spicy soup. I love to add their thinly sliced marbled beef, mussels, shrimps (fresh!), fish and shrimp balls, quail eggs, napa cabbage, and bokchoy! Round 1 choose broth. Go mild bone broth, spicy bone broth, or half and half (best of both worlds). I was happy to know the broth was beef based and not lamb because I really can't stand the gaminess flavor of lamb. Then select from a variety of meats, vegetables, seafood, tofu, fish balls, meatballs, noodles. The meat options were beef brisket, pork neck, chicken breast, fatty lamb, lamb shoulder, and lamb leg. Then walk over to the sauce station where you can create your own dipping sauces. Options were green onions, cilantro, fresh chili's, garlic in oil, soy sauce, vinegar, satay sauce and peanut sauce. The combinations of these sauces are magical. Super yummy. Service was good too. They always came back to ask if we wanted to order 2nd and 3rd rounds. To start off, YAY to finding a hot pot restaurant in the suburbs! I always went to Chinatown to get my hotpot fix but I'm so happy to have discovered this place! I went in for dinner on Sunday and it was very empty (only 1 customer). They have an AYCE option and an a la carte menu. We got the ayce with best of both worlds where you can get half and half of spicy and not spicy. The flavor of the broth was fantastic and all the ingredients were SO fresh! One thing that caught me off guard was finding a few of those small flying insects between my bokchoys i guess that's a sign that the veggie is fresh but no thank you. We did tell the server and he changed it for us right away. Also the portion isn't always exact so do pace yourself when you order for each round and check to see if all the ingredients came out! I placed a slice of beef in both the regular broth and the spicy broth to test the flavors of each. The regular broth was pretty bland and the spicy broth was heavy with the flavor of chili oil. They offer a nice sauce bar which I used to bring the flavor up on the broth. This isn't the reason for the lower review. One of the pieces I ordered was dumplings. After cooking, I tried a bite and was surprised by the flavor (in a good way). I didn't expect shrimp in the dumpling. But immediately upon looking down, I lost my appetite with the dumplings. If you want experience and good food, this is the place for you! Been wanting to try hot pot and was finally able to try it and it definitely did not disappoint. Got both the spicy and bone broth. The bone broth is absolutely delicious; the spicy if reallyyyy spicy - as in you can feel the spices in your throat kind of spicy. You get to make your own sauces/dip to match what extra flavor you want on your meat, veggies, etc. They limit the meat that you can order for each round, which is good since you want to pace yourself when ordering meat. Be careful when you order veggies the first round cause they give you a lot (my cousin said it's fit for a cow! Lol). Don't forget that you have to consume everything you order or you'll get charged extra. You'll have to enter through the mexican restaurant since they share the same entrance. Came here with some buddies on a Monday night. This place is connected to the adjacent Mexican restaurant strangely. When we came in, the staff from the Mexican side of the place sat us down. I have to be honest. I was a bit salty about some happenings at this restaurant. However. The fact that we love it so much had outweighed the upset and we are back to going weekly. This has been an amazing part of my weight loss, even with it being all you can eat. Everything is fresh and delicious and I really can't say enough about how delicious it is. The service has improved since my last post and I can't be more impressed with it. This is a fantastic adventure. Come hungry. Come intrigued. Leave happy. Five co-workers and I made a trip out here for lunch. There was some initial trepidation over the "rules" of hot pot, but honestly once the big bowl of broth and ingredients are in front of you, you will easily figure out what to do, with or without instruction. You can only have one (gigantic) bowl of broth for the entire table, as there is just one electric burner at the center. We shared a half-and-half bowl with regular meat broth on one side and vegan broth on the other. For the "sides," we ordered two meat portions and one vegan portion from the lunch menu. Each portion is just under $14, or in our case, $7 a person! This was more than enough food for our group of six ladies. Hot Pot Delight's official materials say that the dipping sauces are optional, and almost seemed to advise against them. However, I would say the opposite: definitely get the dipping sauces, as they elevated our meal to new heights. We got the garlic sauce (literally just a small bowl of minced garlic in some oil) and spicy dipping sauce. It was delicious to mix both sauces together in the tiny personal bowl you get, along with some of the broth from the hot pot. Service was very attentive and friendly. Servers would suddenly appear from the sidelines to refill your water or top off your broth, without you ever knowing they were lurking, anticipating your every need. One thing that was kind of strange/quirky is that apparently the restaurant connects directly to Maria's Mexican Bar and Grill next door! We didn't even notice this until after our meal was over, but I thought that was a funny bit of trivia to share. All in all, this was a fun place to have lunch with a group. Good because it's not just sitting out in the open but you're supposed to eat everything they bring to you or will potentially be charged. Food quality was decent, broth was good. No sesame sauce in their sauce station which was very saddening to me but I guess most people use peanut sauce instead. HOT, Hot, hot....Pot Yes it's good and I highly recommend trying it. Now, here's what you should know: The hot pot restaurant is actually inside of a Mexican restaurant. To get to it you enter through the Mexican restaurant and then into Hot Pot. Once you're in there it feels like it's own restaurant, the funny thing is the Mexican music is playing throughout. I'm guessing they rent the small space from them. Every table has a hot burner in the middle. It's a flat glass top burner, which seems really safe, but beware if you have little kids that can't sit still. Your meal begins with a soup base. You have the option of getting 1 or 2 soups. They can give you a pot that is split down the middle for 2 different soups. We tried 2 soups and it was fine, but you really don't need 2. I recommend going with 1 soup as you probably won't notice the difference. We got a spicy soup an a bland soup and we liked the spicy best. You then select ingredients to put in the soup. All the ingredients are raw, so also keep that as a consideration with little kids and them touching raw ingredients. They have a meat plate with 3 types of meat, which I thought was the best. We also tried the chicken, but it needs to cook longer. We got the shrimp, which were like tiger shrimp...very large. We also got fish balls, which were good too. For vegies they have a bunch of options. We ordered a mixed vegetable platter which seemed like way too much vegetables. I would recommend just ordering 1 or 2 vegetables unless you have a large group. Everything was really good. The last thing I'll mention is when you check in through Yelp you get a free beer. The fresh produce was covered in dirt and not washed properly, the sauces are self serve (left out all day uncovered) and here's the cherry on top... when the server lifted a plate to get rid of it there was a huge squirming bug under it. I assume it came from the kitchen and had been sitting under the plate ever since he brought it out. That alone just made me sick to my stomach and completely mortified at the end of my meal. When I showed that to the server he said absolutely nothing about it and didn't even apologize as if this were a regular occurrence. Wow, this is seriously good hotpot in an unexpected part of the Chicago Suburbs. Usually you think of Naperville or Evanston when looking for more authentic options but this restaurant in Roselle is worth a trip if you are a hotpot lover. Unlike some of the other options in Chicago which feature intensely flavored broths -- this hotpot is a bit on the healthier side. The base is from bone marrow, which gives the items cooked in it a rich flavor and texture, without all the extra calories. From what I could taste, it seems that both the clear and hot broths derive the majority of their flavor from a mix of from spices, herbs, bones, and other components -- rather than being based off a powder or paste. It is not too salty and I couldn't really detect any MSG (outside of maybe naturally occurring in the ingredients) inside the liquid. The sauces which are based off bean, chili, and garlic were very fresh tasting and aromatic -- with a minimal amount of salt as well. Parking is not too difficult as the lot is large here, though it can get slippery during the winter. Service is very friendly and quick (especially at clearing plates). Prices are fair for both the specials and all-you-can eat (consider that this is high quality cuts of meat and seafood included in this price). Decor and cleanliness is good, you really feel comfortable in enjoying the fine Chinese tradition of hotpot with other like-minded diners. On my visit, I enjoyed a variety of different items and was impressed with the consistent quality and freshness of ingredients. In addition, the quality of the appetizers was great as well. The cucumber salad was presented with a nice mix of colors and a good balance of refreshing but spicy flavor. The beef and chicken skewers were grilled nicely, with an almost crispy exterior and flavorful seasoning. Of the meats, the fatty lamb and fatty beef were definitely my favorites. The marbling is excellent and the cuts are nice and thin, making it very easy to eat. This meat is definitely a cut above what I usually see in jeongol, shabu shabu, and other Chinese hotpot. The shrimp is sweet and firm and goes well with the slightly chewy squid and fish filet (especially in the spicy broth). Vegetables such as napa cabbage, wintermelon, and bok choy are all fresh and juicy -- and work well to absorb the flavors of the meats at the end of the meal or temper down the spicy broth. At the end of the meal, you can consider adding elements such as soft tofu, king mushroom, udon noodles, and rice cake to serve as earthy elements and carbs to mix in to your intensely flavorful broth. Overall, this is a wonderful place to enjoy hotpot with ingredients and flavor combinations that skew towards the healthier side and emphasize ingredient quality instead of relying on mixes, pastes, or powders for flavor. I'm very pleased with hot pot restaurants finally opening up in our area. The restaurant is on the smaller side with tables one on side and booths on the other with burners in the middle of each table. I think there is about 10 to 12 tables? We came opening weekend right when they opened so I can't attest to the wait times but I could see it filling up pretty quickly especially since there is a 2 hour all you can eat option. The soup base here is pretty good; I did find myself wanting to use the dipping sauce to help aid the taste, but the flavor of the soup base does lightly come through after cooking. I actually prefered the non spicy version which is usually not the case for me as I love spice. I just found that the non-spicy more flavorful than the spicy. So next time I'd probably just order a full pot of that instead of the half and half. The meat and veggie selection is decent. I do wish they had more options for more premium cuts of beef as that's my favorite in hot pot, but that's just me being picky. Also I'm not sure if it was a mistake but the house dumplings and the house wontons were exactly the same. I did enjoy that they did have some sauces if you asked for them. I believe there was a garlic, sesame and a salty shacha sauce. There may have been one more but I can't remember what it was. Make sure you do ask for them because they really do enhance the flavor of your meats and veggies! Service was great. Food came out fast and drinks stayed refilled. This place is just wonderful. Took my parents, along with my brother to Hot Pot Delight for the first time and they loved it. We opted for the all you can eat, but you also have the ability to choose the a la carte. Since we have not been here before, we chose to split the broths to both original and spicy, which I suggest if you have not been to a hot pot place before. There is a good variety of ingredients to choose from for both meat lovers and and vegetarians as well. There are also options for carbs: udon, ramen and rice are all available. Not much wait time before the ingredients came out for the festivities. No worries about the freshness of the ingredients here. We enjoyed the mini sausages and fish fiillet. We were also able to enjoy smoothies with tapioca bubbles (always a favorite treat for me). We finished dinner off with the sweet buns, which I definitely recommend.
