Updating from a 2015 review. We noted how much we loved the atmosphere in the 10 years...well now…read moreit's been 20 years that we make a point to dine here, specifically on our anniversary. It's where we dined on our honeymoon and we'll be coming back for years to come. We stopped in a couple of times on this trip. The good - The smokehouse food is just what it should be! I mean, we really love this food. The first Cherry Old Fashioned. Made with care and good ingredients. The Meh - The service on Taco Tuesday. It felt understaffed and the server commented, "at least I'm not alone tonight". Very telling The Bad - The second Cherry Old Fashioned on a different night. Not good. It was Taco Tuesday and the Smokehouse felt understaffed. The drinks were just slammed together.

I ordered nachos, thought that was a safe bet! Supposed to be smoked chicken and cheese sauce…read more These were honestly the worst nachos I've ever had. The fresh chips were nice and the pico was good but the combo of veiny, bony chunks of dry chicken with the sweet BBQ sauce and sour "cheese" made it inedible. I really wanted to like this place it's a great location and fun drive, the patio was beautiful, great beer selection and the service was excellent. Maybe the nachos are just a bad item and they have other good stuff. I wouldn't give it another try unless to grab a beer.

I ordered to go through Door Dash and got a cove cheesesteak and a watermelon wave. I know that the…read moreprices are a bit higher, but I felt that the sandwich was a bit small for the cost even with the small bag of chips it included. The sandwich was good, not great. It was ok. The chips were chips, they didn't make them, it was nice that they were included. I got waffle fries. They were good, thick and cooked through. I was hoping for a bit of a crunch but they were a good flavor. My disappointment was with the Watermelon Wave. It said a watermelon Italian soda with layers of cream and whipped cream. I got the soda but there was no cream or whipped cream layering for the delightful experience. I entered the problem through the DoorDash app, but did not hear anything back. I might go in to check the place out and try the veggie sandwich (Billy Bones). Seems like the only vegetarian option on a very large menu.

The salad had a hair in it and was refunded. The young man was polite when I gave him the hair but pretty much threw the refund on the table and ran. Hair nets are a good idea. The young lady who made the ice cream cone was smiling and polite so she gets the 2 stars everything else really needs improving. There were 2 ladies eating a pizza one gentleman eating tacos and the 2 of us in the restaurant. I was disappointed. I hope it improves. Ill wait for better reviews before I go back.

I've become a regular at The Shoe, and it continues to impress me every time I visit. My go-to…read moreorder is the grilled salmon, and the risotto that accompanies it deserves special recognition. It's flavorful and complements the fish perfectly. It's one of those side dishes that could easily stand on its own. Another favorite is the coconut shrimp. Sometimes I order it as an appetizer, and other times I make it my entire meal because it's that good. Crispy, flavorful, and consistently well prepared the marmalade dipping sauce makes it so delightful. I appreciate that The Shoe embraces its Montana roots with farm-to-table bison burgers and steaks. It's a great way for locals and visitors alike to experience something uniquely Montana while enjoying a quality meal. Oh, and western fanatics definitely check out the 'Lonesome Dove' decor! It's so fun and done with taste, I love the horseshoe chandeliers too! What really stands out, though, is the service. The servers are always friendly, attentive, and genuinely seem to care about creating a great experience. The restaurant is busy nearly every time I'm there, which says a lot in itself, yet the staff handles the crowds with professionalism and efficiency. I noticed some older reviews mentioning wait times, but those seem outdated. The most recent of those was many months ago, and from what I've experienced, it looks like they've built a strong team that consistently delivers both excellent food and excellent service. If you're in Polson and looking for a restaurant with great food, friendly staff, and a true Montana feel with an epic view of Flathead Lake, The Shoe is absolutely worth a visit.

Haven't been here since 2020. Came for prime rib and it did not disappoint. Arrived at 7 pm. Most…read morerestaurants don't have rare prime rib at this time. However this place had it and it was fantastic. Comes with two sides so we had a baked potato and risotto. Our server Sophie was fairly new and had the bartender open a bottle of Josh cabernet . It was great and complimented our entree. We shared the dinner and it was way enough. Generally when dining at our areas where we live we bring our own wine and pay a corkage Generally 10 to 15 dollars and 25 at high end establishments. I asked and their corkage is $35. Obviously not familiar with how things work. A corkage makes up for trouble of storing and serving wine. $35 is ludicrous and not productive to profit management. However run your business the way you want. Great views and atmosphere.
