Having spent time in Vietnam in the army I appreciate a good banh mi and Pho - Neither of which I found here... The marinated pork is not traditional and very fatty (Not crisp fat either) . The Vietnamese baguette that should have a crisp crust and a soft, airy interior tasted more like a WinCo dinner roll The daikon and carrots were not traditional pickled tangy - just carrots and daikon fresh sliced. The cucumber slices were so thick they seemed more like something you would dip in a ranch dressing- not put on a sandwich. The Pho broth was worst I have ever had. Not much more to say. If you are a connoisseur of Vietnamese food, don't go here... If you don't know how Vietnamese Pho or Banh mi should taste - then you won't know you're getting bad Vietnamese food. It's ok, prices were a little high for what you get. Ordered Spring rolls for $7.50 which were basically salad mix with a chicken slice and 1 shrimp. We got two bowls of the #1 pho with rare beef and meatballs. Broth was flavorful, comforting and delicious and the toppings (bean sprouts, basil, lime) were fresh and good! This is the best Pho in Idaho Falls, hands down! We eat here nearly once a week! The flavor is right on point and they don't skimp on portions. We were so excited when we moved here 5 years ago to discover there was an authentic, good quality Pho restaurant and have been eating here regularly for many years now. I was NOT expecting good Asian food in Idaho Falls, but came across this gem on my first night... thank goodness! In the week my fiancé and I were in town visiting family, we dined here three nights. To open a pho restaurant in Idaho Falls requires great internal fortitude, great enthusiasm and great food. Even with that Trifecta, you can still find yourself apologizing to a Karen and Karen's husband. Last weekend, my wife and I ventured into Hot Spring Pho, and the aroma of the restaurant immediately told us the food was legit. While waiting for our server, this couple next to us complained about how they didn't way a certain cut of beef but a piece was in their bowl. The owner then came out and apologized, and informed that he would apply a discount. I am shortening the story but trust me they were a Karen couple. They proceeded to complain continuously amongst themselves.. get a life Karen! Then the check came and they looked at it and proceeded to aak, dis you make sure you applied the discount ? (It was on the ticket, as the server politely showed Karen +1). Wife and i enjoyed our pho but was turned off by the Karen couple. So we left the server a SICK tip $$$. It has a small seating area, but I did notice a lot of carryout happened when I dined there. And I've done carryout from them as well. This was a decent Vietnamese restaurant, but cannot be compared to the ones in Westminster, CA. I was craving pho and was curious what the pho in Idaho Falls was like. I ordered the Pho Tai (pho with rare slices of beef). It was $11.50 for a regular bowl and $13 for a large. All but one slice of beef was fully cooked when the bowl arrived at our table, so the meat was a bit tougher than expected. The broth was also on the sweet side and lacked the pho flavor that I'm accustomed to. I fixed it by adding 4 pieces of lime and plenty of sriracha. Not too bad for Idaho Falls. My guy ordered the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup) for $16.50. The broth was very mild. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most spicy, this was a 1. The broth lacked the beef flavor, and all we could taste were lemongrass and fish sauce. This bowl was also missing many of the traditional characteristics of the noodle soup. The owner explained he had to "westernize" it, thereby intentionally omitting some of the key ingredients that give the noodle its uniqueness. It's missing the pork hock and pork blood cubes. In my opinion, to westernize this, they need to consider reducing the amount of fish sauce! It has a pretty strong smell and taste. Overall, it wasn't bad, it just wasn't the real Bun Bo Hue. I'm spoiled by the Vietnamese restaurants in Westminster that are noted as the best and most authentic. My mom also made incredible Vietnamese food. Removing the bias, I would say this place is deserving of 3 stars. I recommend bringing cash to this establishment, as the menu prices were listed for cash transactions only. They charge an extra fee for credit card. I don't know how much more. The menu prices were already relatively high for the small portions, so I wasn't about to pay more. read more

We stopped at Hot Spring Pho while traveling through Idaho Falls to satisfy our Vietnamese food craving. After reading reviews, we ended up ordering the Signature Com and Bun Bo Hue. If you consider yourself to be familiar with Vietnamese cuisine, I would skip the Signature Com; the whole dish leaned sweet, and the shrimp lacked flavor and color. Also, the meat in the Bun Bo Hue needed more cooking time to become tender. I would still order it again, as the noodle soup as a whole was very satisfying on a brisk October day. The flavors are Americanized (less funky, more sweet), but that's to be expected when you're not in a big city. If you're craving Vietnamese food, Hot Spring Pho is a good option! read more

If we consider taste alone, it was great. All other aspects were severely lacking. I dined here with a co-worker recently and we left equally underwhelmed. The food itself was delicious. The pho broth had great flavor and the egg rolls were fried perfectly. However, the bowls were filled with broth and very little of anything else. I've been to pho places in different cities around the country and very often received a more generous portion for under $10. In this case, two bowls of pho, an order of egg rolls, and extra noodles ran us close to $40. That's not including the extra fee that is charged here for paying with a card. Cash is king at Hot Spring Pho - you even pay a fee for using a debit card. To be completely transparent, this was also the worst service I've ever received at a restaurant in IF. The dude who was working today seemed inconvenienced by every person who walked in. We were not greeted upon entering and it took over 10 minutes just to get our water...then at least another 5 for him to take our order. He would not check on the guests and was on his phone at the counter the whole time (until someone waived him down for help). When I say everyone in this restaurant was thirsty, I mean it literally. Each table in the restaurant ran out of water while we were dining here and physically had to stand up and walk over to the counter to ask for a refill. Then the host would come to the table with a water pitcher but only to refill the table who asked for it. Everyone else with an empty cup had to repeat the process. Hot Spring Pho is a fairly small restaurant, there is no reason customers have to sit around waiting for assistance if someone can stand around looking at their phone. Considering the lack of pho places in Idaho Falls, I would potentially come back...but only for takeout. I don't recommend stopping by if you only have an hour for your lunch break. read more

We ordered Combination Pho (Pho dac biet) and it was delicious !!! Very flavorful broth nd good portion. Service was nice and friendly. My only issue is that for the takeout order, they put the noodles, meat and vegie in a togo styrofoam box and the broth on a separate plastic broth and since i'm staying at a hotel, it's very hard to eat (no bowls in hotels). They also out the tiniest plastic spoon and fork to eat the pho which is even worse. Thy need to get the takeout bowl and bigger spoon. read more

My wife and I stopped in the other day. Because of a temporary dietary restriction for her, she could only have the broth from the pho. They were very helpful. We had fantastic bahn mi here! Be sure to bring some cash when you come as they have an extra expense for running cards. All thee of us really liked the sandwiches. They were a great size, bigger than I had expected. Really a perfect size for dinner and I felt very satisfied. I got the tofu and egg bahn mi and it was a fantastic vegetarian option, it did not feel lacking at all and was very filling. The baguette for the sandwich was not a totally authentic French one, but still a way good loaf with a slightly crisp outside and a soft inside. We also got the pork wrap appetizer. Hot Spring Phố restaurant has to be at the top of your list of places to try. They have a great selection of Bún/Vermicelli Noodles, Cơm/Rice Plates, and Phố Noodle Bowls. Great Phố starts with the broth. And their broth is the best/done right. Vietnamese food is very healthy. That is why I keep coming back when I visit Idaho Falls. It is a small restaurant with limited seating but any wait is worth it. They get the food prepared to you very quickly so waiting times are minimal.
