We visited The Modern Rose for a morning date and we both loved it! I started with the Rejuvenate Boba, which is a bursting dragonfruit with passionfruit tangerine tea and lemon. My wife had the Signature flight - Lavender Latte, Rose-iatto, Cinnamon Mocha and Caramel Macchiato. All great choices! For food, I went with the Mick Griddle Tower - 3 slices of brioche French toast, stacked with two eggs & 3 slices of bacon, all smothered with melted mozzarella, powdered sugar & maple syrup. And it was DELICIOUS. The restaurant was a bit busy while we were there, but it didn't take away from our experience. If I could give The Modern Rose more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. My daughter and I visited twice during our trip to St. Augustine last week, and honestly, if we had more time, we would have gone back again. This place is truly something special. From the moment you walk in, the decor and atmosphere are absolutely charming--elegant, whimsical, and giving a fun Bridgerton vibe. The staff and owners were incredibly ,warm welcoming, and genuinely kind. You can tell they truly care about the experience they create for every guest. Between the two of us over two visits, we shared several menu items, and every single one was exceptional. Every coffee we tried was phenomenal--the Lavender Latte, Chaga-ccino, Cinnamon Mocha Latte, and Churro Cold Brew were all beautifully crafted and absolutely delicious. I truly can't pick a favorite because every single one was that good. The food was just as outstanding, with generous portions and incredible flavor. We highly recommend the B.E.C.ky, the Better Than..., the Venetian, and the Tulum Sammie. My personal favorites were the Venetian and the Tulum Sammie--both were absolute perfection. It is rare to find a place where the food, coffee, service, and atmosphere all exceed expectations, but The Modern Rose does exactly that. I only wish we had something even half this good back home. They have only been open a little over a year, and I have a feeling that as more people discover just how wonderful this place is, reservations will become a must. I suggested checking out The Modern Rose for the aesthetics and drink menu. This spot is incredibly Instagrammable, and the Aphrodi-Tea was very pretty as well as one of the best sips on the trip. I interacted with three members of staff, and they were hospitable from start to finish. I was most disappointed in the food menu, as I had browsed on the website, only to find that the actual menu on-site had less options and was more expensive. That was a bummer. My friend and I ordered a toast flight, which was decent...and not worth the steep price. If I was to return, I'd have a tea party and then go elsewhere for food. read more

This quaint little restaurant was our destination before starting our exploration of St. Augustine. Greeted, seated and served by Marissa, our breakfast experience, the food and the service made for a great start of the day. Decor reminds me of a nicely accented tea room with ambiance fitting for an afternoon tea. All the dishes were delivered with attractive plating and flavorful in taste. We came over after church. This place is getting well known now after 1 year. All the food was very good. Waiter recommended the modern egg pizza and it was very good. He was correct but he had a bunch of orders mixed up and didn't listen to bring out Chocolate croissant out last. Brought it before my meal came out. I never found him when I asked for the check. Luckily the front desk man which I think was the owner brought it for me. As we were leaving waiter never even acknowledged us. Luckily everyone else was friendly. I wasn't going to let this ruin the 5 star. My wife got the French toast and love her latte. This place is so well decorated but they will be needing more room with the quality of their food. We waited 15 minutes for a table but the food here is worth the wait. We hope they will get better waiters or we have a better waiter experience. read more

Had the absolute pleasure of meeting Daniella and Melanie from Modern Rose on Friday night. Kudos to these female business owners and their absolutely stunning tea room. Every inch of the space inside and out is so pretty and ornate and well thought thru. Walking by the decor literally pulled us inside, even though it was past the dining hour. Melanie and Daniella showed us all the different rooms of their space and their menu as well. SUCH a cute place to host a girls night, birthday party, shower, or other gathering. I wrote a review 11 months ago and decided to see how things have fared this year. I am happy to report that everything is still stellar. I have been for their high tea and today was there to celebrate a birthday. The menu has been revamped slightly but the food is absolutely delicious. Melanie, the owner, and her husband were there to make sure everything is perfect. The ambiance is as charming as it gets. The service was on point. I think the Princess Diana salad with grilled chicken is one of the best salads of all time. If you get tea service it will be served in a most charming pot. I was also there with some friends several months ago for the high tea. I am posting all the pictures together. High tea is a special menu by reservation only. Everything is simply delightful. Overall, was a nice breakfast! A little disappointed in the service as when we first got there perhaps the owner/ staff was unsure how to sit a party of two because they had just gotten a call before us for a party of nine and we're scrambling around. Once we were finally seated, our order was taken however it must not have been put into the kitchen, even though we saw him use a machine to take our order because a table of five got their breakfast before us. wish they would've come by to tell us the mistake, but we just had to pay attention and figure out that our food was up next at least it was tasty. Excellent in every way! We were excited to finally have time to try out Modern Rose. If you don't get there right when they open, expect a wait. We were fortunate the wait was only around 30 minutes today. On to the food - my husband had the Tulum sandwich which was substantial and he said it was superb. I went with half serving of Just keep swimming which is the smoked salmon avocado toast. I ordered a side of eggs and bacon to go with it. Everything was prepared perfectly and flavors were delicious. Their coffees are excellent too. Such an eclectic place. The owner greeted us warmly and our waiter/other servers were wonderful too. Super cute tea place with tons of teas. They don't take reservations so we left our name and were told it would be about 45 minutes so we left our name then walked downtown. The place was decorated for Halloween, they had so many different teas and coffees it was hard to choose. When they aren't as busy, they do tea flights but they said because they had so many large groups that day they wouldn't be able to. No biggie. I really liked the breakfast sandwich I got, the modern egg sandwich. I also liked the happy go lucky tea, super fruity but would love to try more. I would highly recommend the Lavender latte and the Banana chai latte. For entrees the Joburg Jam was amazing and the avocado sampler plate was tasty, too. Our girls loved their chocolate, strawberry filled croissant of course! The staff was incredibly friendly and we were even able to chat with the owner. Parking was fairly decent given it's a Friday morning in St. Augustine. The space is so cute, quirky and unique. We were greeted right away and our waitress was really sweet. We were super disappointed that the latte flight that we drove down for was not available. I then asked for the tiramisu latte and they were also out of that. Settled for the almond joy latte and it was delicious! Ordered the toast flight- and each one had a similar base of tomatoes and avocado with a little something different on top. Was really happy they had gluten free bread. Even though they didn't have what we came for it was still a nice breakfast and I will go back and try something different. read more

We were initially quoted a 50-minute wait for our party of three, but the host kindly took our number and invited us to return at 10:00 AM. We were seated shortly after our return. Even with several large groups in the dining room, the service was excellent. Although the food took a little longer than expected due to the volume of orders, the wait staff was incredibly thoughtful and provided a complimentary treat, which was a very sweet and unnecessary gesture that we truly appreciated. It took about 25 minutes for our drinks to arrive and roughly 40 minutes for our food. Another odd detail: the restaurant doesn't provide to-go containers. I couldn't finish my meal, which included a runny egg, and the only option they offered was wrapping it in aluminum foil. It ended up being messy and far from ideal. Food The food itself was excellent, and I have no complaints about the flavors or quality. We ordered the Mick Griddle Tower and the Modern Egg Pizza. The pizza comes heavily drizzled with balsamic, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you enjoy a strong balsamic flavor, but I personally didn't mind it. Overall While the aesthetics and ambiance were adorable and perfect for Instagram photos, the slow service made the experience less enjoyable. I incorrectly assumed a half portion was half a piece of toast. But it did taste great the next day. The service was fine but it was more of a 4 star experience.
