Came in to use my hot cash only to find out i couldn't use it yet so I wait till the date I CAN use it and I was so overstimulated by how many employees walk around breathing over your shoulder that I decided to go back the following week only to find out the hot cash has already expired, why when I was here last week no employee mentioned there was an expiration date on hot cash? So because I never received a physical coupon I couldn't have seen an expiration date ... so in those cases the employees should notify YOU...Right or is this just a way to scam people? So Hot topic just tricks you and traps you into this stupid couponing marketing that ultimately only benefits the company of course because they fail to mention any "extra" details or Fine print while in store. Today the worker said emails and notifications get sent out but nothing was sent out to me so idk what she's talking about and I won't shop here again I'd rather spend it at box lunch. read more

While my family and I were shopping at Universal CityWalk in Hollywood, we decided to stop by the Hot Topic, right next to the Sanrio Smile shop! It was really busy inside the Hot Topic for a late afternoon on Friday in June. Luckily there were plenty of team members inside Hot Topic for any type of questions or assistance needed. My daughter was looking at some of the anime and video game themed shirts. One of the shirts she wanted to get, that was video gamed themed, we couldn't locate a small in the shirt stack. One of the team members assisted us and found a size small in their stored inventory! My daughter was super excited! Some of the anime and video game themed apparel and house items we found included the following League of Legends Dragon Ball Z Spirited Away Howl's Moving Castle Naruto Apothecary Diaries Jujutsu Kaisen My Neighbor Totoro Sakamoto Days Solo Leveling My Hero Academia and so much more! The check-out process was a breeze. We provided our phone number and updated info for awards. The service was great here! We stop by this HT nearly every time we go to Universal. The store is one of the bigger ones you'll find so if you are looking for something specific they likely have it. The staff is always friendly and helpful. So if you are in a hurry and know what you want, just ask them and they will egt you going quickly with the typical pricing you see at HT with great deals on merch. read more

This is one of the largest locations I've been in terms of Hot Topic. It's located near the entrance of Universal and is across from the Wolfgang Puck restaurant. The facade fits more with the goth/punk aesthetic iconic to the brand's early days. The store is always busy whenever I've gone - people check out the store for new releases, fandom merchandise, or to pick up something they may want to wear for their visit. (As they carry a lot of merchandise and accessories themed to some entertainment franchises seen inside Universal.) The last few times I've gone, I've seen a lot of promotions or sales being run on most of the items in the store. Depending on the time of day, I've seen the store look organized or more haphazard - the latter state is likely due to tons of visitors checking out the store and not putting things back on racks or where the item is usually. It can be loud in the store with the music playing overheard or the tons of people shopping in the store. Staff were efficient and no one was rude, but I wouldn't say there were a ton of standout employees there. read more

Been shopping at Hot Topic since I was a kid. It's definitely changed but love that it has more anime and shows that everyone can relate to. Staff are friendly and you can find things easily in this store. The funkos need a bit of work as like most stores because they're all mixed. There are some buried in the back that you don't even know about because it's behind a completely different series. Worth checking if you're a collector! My favorite Hot Topic around with some of my favorite HT crew! We are often in the area and at CityWalk mainly for movies, eats and/or window shopping, but do splurge when it's the "good pay day"... (you know the one...) I love getting accessories here as they have quite a bit to choose from. I still have one of the many belts, necklaces and a solid pair of sunglasses I've added to my wardrobe from here over the last year or so. Earning hot cash helps feed your guilty pleasure especially with so many cool novelty items (aside from clothing) sold here. Melanie is the most personable and fun loving employee here not to down play any others, but she checked on us twice during our shopping experience and is extremely knowledgeable and helpful especially when it comes to knowing the best deals here. With the holidays coming up I know I'll be buying or picking up (online orders, which can be delivered to your store of choice) some things from this location for the holidays both for myself and my loved ones... Hot Topic may have a target demographic of teenage youth and young adult... however it still draws in people of many ages and all walks of life especially the Universal City Walk location... the mecca of all Hot Topics in So-Cal. read more

I love Hot Topic. I've been a customer for over a decade. However, I have not interacted with a more irritating group of pushy sales people at a Hot Topic store in my life. I'm sure it's a bunch of kids that are being told a quota to meet but holy sh*t leave me alone. I GENUINELY was approached by every single person working on the floor (probably 7-8 people) during my 20min browse around the store. I'm all for getting your bag girl but when you see someone has been approached by every single one of your peers maybe leave them alone? I had something in hand that I really wanted and was in line for when i was bombarded again by 2 salespeople about some other garbage they wanted me to buy or sign up for that i just left the items. It wasn't worth it. Additionally, the floor plan of this store is horrendous and does not take into account the volume of customers it gets on a daily basis. Very hot and crowded and messy in this store. Overall, one of the worst Hot Topic experiences. read more

COVID-19 Review: To draw people to Citywalk during these crazy times, Citywalk is giving its patrons free parking. This makes quick trips to citywalk a lot easier than they would have been in the past. Hot topic is located on the 2nd half of citywalk (closest to the theme park). I ordered a gift for a friend and instead of paying for shipping, I decided to ship it to my nearest Hot Topic store and for me that's the Citwalk location. It arrived in the 5-8 business days as promised and Hot Topic gave me 7 days to pick it up. When I had a day off to visit, parking was a breeze. The store had just opened and there was already a line as they had limited in-store capacity. They had blocked off the entrance with a hand sanitizer and many reminders about wearing masks. Fortunately, there was a separate line for Online Order Pick-Ups. I just gave my name at the door and they went to look for my package. It took a little while as they couldn't find it for a bit, but I didn't mind the wait. I didn't even end up going inside the store and they brought my purchase outside. Would have wished that the line was shorter/non-existent so that I could window shop and possible get another purchase with the 10% off coupon Hot topic gave me for an in store purchase, but I guess there's always next time. read more

Firstly I am not really a big fan of Hot Topic in the past and have never bought anything from there in the past. But today as I was window shopping on the City Walk a Despicable Me T-Shirt caught my eye and it was really cute and different from the other T-shirts that were found inside Universal Studios. (Even though Universal Studios does have a lot of the Despicable Me T-shirts because of their new ride there that just opened last week.) Pros: The staffs here were really nice and helpful. (They helped grab one of the T-shirts that I wanted to try even though it was high up near the ceiling.) They have a store promotion going on right now for the entire store. Buy 1 shirt get the other one for 50%! Cons: They tend to run out of small and medium sizes because; 1 they are common sizes and 2 this store is located on the City Walk right next to the entrance to Universal Studios. (The good stuff tends to sell out fast.) Overall, great store with cool T-shirts! read more

This is a Hot Topic that often doesn't seem like a Hot Topic because of the location. That aside, there's a decent stock here and lots to look at. The problem is, regardless of how busy Citywalk may be, this is a poorly organized store. Because of the orientation of the cash registers you may even have difficulty entering the store, and where the line for checkout begins and ends is always confusing and a point of contention between customers. While there's plenty of stock, especially anime, band shirts, and Marvel, the products go up the wall almost to the ceiling requiring you to stand craning your neck - and because all of the aisles in the store are small, you'll always be in someone's way. This really cuts down this location's appeal. The spotty customer service doesn't make a visit too pleasant, either. If you know what you want, run in and pick it up. If you want to leisurely browse, I suggest another Hot Topic. read more

If you are a person of COLOR I would AVOID shopping here. They will follow you throughout the store and stand very close to you and pretend to fold clothes that are already folded. Very unfortunate that people still treat people like this. Management, sales team, and the whole establishment should be ashamed of allowing their employeees to act in such a disgusting way. While I used to love this location I now feel uncomfortable going here. I interviewed to work here about a month ago and never heard anything back from the manager which is fine but I would have at least liked to hear them tell me I didn't get the job at least? I just went in there and saw the same manager that interviewed me and she was very unprofessional and avoided me the whole time when I came in and I needed some help. I decided to take my kids and wife out for some air last night. While walking through city walk I decided to stop into Hot Topic. We all like different characters so we were all in different parts of the stores. I noticed they had a deal on socks , so I was walking around the store finding different character socks that I like because they are kind of spread out by sections. Long story short one of the associates (I didn't get her name, but she had green hair) decided to follow me and almost ran into me trying to "catch me in the act".. First off let me say that I am well off and dress very well and I have no reason to take anything from anyone or any establishment. I am a woman of color so maybe she was profiling. But whatever her reason was for doing that was not okay and it really bothered me that people are so ignorant and stereotypes. I will never shop at that location again.. She needs better customer service training realistically you should be appreciative that I am even spending money in your establishment. read more

Aside from the fact that it's located in Universal Citywalk (which is always crowded with tourists, etc.) it's a great location. They seem to have merchandise that some of the other locations don't have. They have always greeted me on entry and asked if they could help. They are also very helpful with finding products - (I bought a jacket for my boyfriend and it didn't fit, they didn't have one in the store but they exchanged it online for me and are going to call me when the replacement arrives at the store.) If you go to valet parking before 3pm take your ticket to the store and have them validate it and then you can get parking for the following rate: ""Shop, Dine & Play"- Monday-Friday 11am-3pm $2 first 2 hours $15 2-4 hours $30 over 4 hours Requires validation with purchase at participating CityWalk restaurant, retail or entertainment venue excluding AMC CityWalk Cinemas I definitely recommend this location. I am so used to walking into a Hot Topic thats very dark and desolate with some crazy employees with pink and purple yarn weaved into their hair and black lipstick and 40 piercings too many. This Hot Topic has gone through a remodel. Although the wierd employees are still there ..it is no longer a dark cave to shop in...there is actually light and it is bright inside. No longer is Hot Topic the days of buying the grunge type clothing because all I see now is TWILIGHT crap everywhere. Twilight shirts...shoelaces..belt buckles. I guess Hot Topic is trying to get away from the "emo" look and more into "lets sell whatever the popular trend is these days!". They also sell some other pop culture shirts and stuff but nothing worth buying. read more

I try to resist the urge of walking into Hot Topic every single time I am at City Walk but as you can tell the Hot Topic venture beats me every time. Some people think that Hot Topic is a store for those who are Gothic. I thinks not! I can always find stuff that I grew up with such as My Little Pony, Strawberry Shortcake, etc.. I do think that Hot Topic is a bit on the pricey side but I guess for getting stuff that means a lot to you, you have to pay the price. Visited this location yesterday on my daughters 10th birthday, gave the cashier 2 gift cards to use toward purchase and he did not use them! We went to sit down to eat and as I reviewed the receipt I noticed, had to call and inquire,I was told my gift cards were off to the side of the register, so rude and unprofessional I feel like the employee was trying to steal from me. read more

Not the best hot topic I've been to. I've come here after the movies to check out the Rick and Morty merchandise. The check out stand is super weird there is an impossible line. Sometimes the staff are rude but it's always different people working there. Sometimes I believe the staff are super lazy because when I use my rewards email and address sometimes they can't find it or they can. Super nonsense. I really hate buying stuff here because the way the check out stand is designed. The store looks too crowded and when it gets busy it's very hard to look around. I prefer the one in Hollywood and Highland. there's more things in stock, friendlier staff, and a better checkout stand. read more
