I took my wife here for her birthday weekend. We stayed two nights, checking out around 11am on Sunday. Rooms: Perfect. We got the Terrace River Cellar room with a king bed. The room was immaculate and had just about everything you'd want in a room. There was no coffee machine, but you can have a pot of complimentary coffee delivered in the morning. The balcony was large and lovely; with a fireplace we got to use the last morning we were there on this unseasonably warm January weekend. The room is full of informational brochures/flyers about the local Pearl area, so if you've never been, you'll want to look at these. Concierge: Exceptional. They answered all my questions and even some I didn't ask; plus, they responded to emails in a timely manner. They gave me options to set up the room for birthday surprise. I ordered roses, a fruit tray with Topo Chico, a birthday banner, balloons, and chocolate, etc. I also had turn down service, which was a great touch. It was so nice to come back to the room in the evening, after dinners and drinks on Friday and Saturday nights. If you stay, and aren't sure what you want to do, eat, drink, etc., just ask the concierge team. Staff: Exceptional. Every single employee (front desk, housekeeping, room service, valet, etc.) we encountered at the hotel was the epitome of a welcoming, friendly professional. I can't say enough about that! I highly recommend the hotel tour, which they do twice a day. The bar gets crowded on weekend evenings, but they have little hideaways in the bar reserved for guests to get out of the throngs while remaining in the bar, which is a nice touch. We live in town and go to the Pearl fairly often, but this was our first stay at the hotel; it was a wonderful, fun, memorable weekend. There was nothing that wasn't absolutely on point and perfect. We'll be back.

One of the highlights of The Pearl District is Hotel Emma. I walked my friend though Hotel Emma and explained some it's unique history. The hotel has been restored from a 19th-century brewhouse, originally part of the Pearl Brewing Company. The hotel is a convergence of industrial charn and elegant Texas chic. Hotel Emma is named after Emma Koehler, who managed the brewery in 1914 after her husband Otto Koehler was shot in a scandalous love triangle. So the story goes, Otto's mistress was also named Emma. Emma Koehler successfully led the brewery through Prohibition and the Great Depression, making her a noteworthy businesswoman in Texas history. Hotel Emma is known for awards and recognition: 1) Michelin Two-Key Distinction: The only hotel in San Antonio to receive this honor 2) AAA Five Diamond Award: The only hotel in Texas with this designation and 3) Consistently ranked among the top hotels in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report, TripAdvisor, and Travel + Leisure. In addition, one distinctive part of Hotel Emma is fragrant smell when you enter the hotel...super intoxicating. Southeries, Supper and Sternewirth restaurants are located in Hotel Emma. They also have a market and deli, which you must try the Toffee Krispy treat...my guilty pleasure.

Hotel Emma... What a dreamy 5-star hotel. Our first actually - and I am so glad it was this San Antonio destination (May 24-25, 2025). I wanted upscale. No pretentiousness. And to be extremely relaxed. Got all of that plus a lot more! All the employees were friendly, quick and attentive including valet, concierge, turndown staff, library bartender, and security guard who had to let us in from the pool. Lol. Apparently the key cards do not allow access back in even a few minutes before closing time at 10 pm. Our room was amazingly clean. Cool Texas decor. Very comfortable beds. My favorite was the steady, strong stream of hot water in the shower. Best shower ever! Coffee service arrived in just a matter of minutes of my calling for it at around 6:30 AM. Shops. Restaurants. Riverwalk all within short walking distance. I could go on, but my photos say it all. My daughters & I loved Hotel Emma & their charming Texas hospitality!

Hotel Emma has very beautiful bar but some seats are only for the hotel guests . It's hard to find seats for the weekends

Visited this cute hotel on Labor Day. Great place to visit when it's hot and raining outside: we really came here for the bar which opened at 3pm

We purchased a day pass for the pool. The check in at the reception was great, very friendly and helpful staff. The girls at the food truck were very nice as well. We were however very disappointed in the food. The oysters on the half shell were lukewarm warm served on a bed of salt but nothing was cold. The elote was very flavorful, watermelon salad was underwhelming, it would have been nice if they had added fresh mint to it, hamachi was good as well. We were over charged by $28 and incorrectly charged for someone else's margaritas but the food truck quickly corrected the mistake when brought to their attention. We would definitely come back for the pool but would not order food.

I love the inside of the hotel bar. It has a very chill vibe with a mix of old world western accents. Very good drinks, I had several espresso martinis!!

Popped in to take a few photos (see attached). Everyone was very curious and professional that I interacted with. The library is secured so the photo i took has a glare, sorry I didnt get access, could have been even better!.

My family had our Thanksgiving meal there. They had plenty of options and several seating times. 1. Fresh seafood bar was 10/10 2. Salad bar 10/10 3. Meat carving 8/10 4. Vegetable entree 7/10 5. Dessert 7/10 Meat was down graded because the roast/prime rib only came medium rare. Asked for a medium cut for my step son and was unable to cut a selection for him Vegetables were standard green bean casserole (4/10), mashed potatoes, corn bread stuffing, Brussels sprouts (4/10) Surprised that there were not sweet potatoes or some more options. Desserts were pumpkin, apple, pecan, chocolate pies but honestly the flavor and crust were not their finest. Service was good but had to wave down a waiter once or twice. One couple got up to get some more food and the wait staff took their table and prepared it for another group. Coffee, tea and water was complimentary all other drinks like sodas, wine, beer, cocktails were a cash bar outside. I have stayed at the hotel and eaten there and the food was 10/10. I would recommend the Hotel and restaurant but not so much for Thanksgiving meal.

Traveled through San Antonio today and had to make a stop at Hotel Emma. Stopped and chatted with the ladies in gift shop as well as coffee shop. Staff was extremely friendly and not pretentious for such an upscale hotel. I wanted to walk around the hotel library but it looked like it was reserved for guests-guess thats a good idea or tourists would live in here! Unfortunately we couldn't stay the night but if I am ever in San Antonio for an overnight we will be staying here.

My husband booked this hotel because of its convenient location, close to the River Walk and Alamo and most important, its in a very old and full of history building. We both really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean with the most comfortable beds and pillows and the very fun and convenient breakfasts and dinners/drinks. The beds and pillows were so comfy, we slept for almost 12 hours our first night... The foods, buffet style, were good, with many options. (They are comfort foods, if you expect high-end kind, it's not for you...) The customer services were what we appreciated and enjoyed the most. All of the staff, from the front desk hosts, to the managers, bartender (Annette), food service group... everyone was so friendly, nice, and welcoming. *The only "issue" that we experienced was the super loud, seemed like hours long, of car honkings, engines noice... of 1 night. But it wasn't the hotel's problem. The home team, The Spurs, won the game and the city was celebrating... Highly recommend this hotel and the services here... What set it apart wasn't simply the beautiful hotel or location -- it was the level of personal care. Ariel at the concierge desk was wonderful. She helped arrange safe airport transportation for my friend when she arrived before me and, when my flight was significantly delayed, made sure she could check in without me. Being stuck traveling and knowing she was in good hands was invaluable. We were welcomed with a personal note, fruit, flowers and champagne, and then surprised with more birthday treats during our spa day. Those thoughtful details made the entire stay feel special. And the SPA! Easily one of the best I've ever visited. Being able to truly relax before and after our treatments -- especially in the beautiful post-treatment lounge -- made it an experience rather than simply a massage appointment. Jessica gave me what was quite literally the best massage I've ever had (and I've had a lot of massages!). Even the little things stood out: complimentary morning coffee delivered through room service and an incredibly kind and helpful room-service attendant. Luxury hotels can have beautiful rooms and impressive amenities. What made Mokara exceptional was how genuinely cared for we felt from beginning to end. The personal touches made all the difference. Mokara will absolutely be at the top of my list the next time I'm in San Antonio. Five stars without hesitation.

It was still AMAZING and left me wishing that I could stay longer! My King Room was huge and ultra clean and comfortable! Taking a break from work, I headed to the pool deck, which was small but sufficient and had comfortable chairs to sun in. I remembered an amazing redfish dish from Ostra, enjoyed so many years ago... I really wanted to eat at Ostra again this visit, because I saw redfish on the menu and wondered if it was really as good as my memory of it. I was initially bummed that Ostra was closed for a private event during my stay, BUT my disappointment quickly turned to excitement when I saw the same dish offered on the room service menu. YES!! It was as good if not better than my memory of it! Finally and importantly, the individuals working in valet, front desk, and room service were so service driven and friendly! Overall, I cannot wait to stay at the Mokara again in the hopefully, not so distant future!
